-Cape Hortu, Mestionian-
Earlier today, an armored convoy carrying nearly five hundred million dollars in negotiable bonds was attacked and robbed by an unknown group of assailants. The convoy was transporting the bonds from the First Bank of Cape Hortu to the National Depository in Tobruk.
According to military officials, the convoy, comprised of three fully loaded armored cars and accompanied by a military escort was attacked at approximately 10am this morning when anti-tank rockets were fired at the lead and tail vehicles of the convoy, disabling them and turning them into twenty ton road-blocks, making escape from the narrow streets of Cape Hortu all but impossible for the unweildy armored cars.
Following the initial rocket attack, military sources indicate the approximately twenty men armed with assault weapons moved in on the convoy. At gun point and with their military escort pinned down by grazing fire from the rooftops, drivers surrendered the keys to the cars, and the thieves simply unlocked the doors and removed the cases of bonds. The band of criminals then quickly boarded nearby vehicles and sped away.
At present, police and military officials have no leads as to the identity or whereabouts of the perpetrators of this crime. Nobody was killed in the robbery, but three Mestionian Army soldiers traveling in the vehicles sustaining rocket hits were sent to University Hospital, and as of two hours ago were deemed stable. The robbers made away with over three hundred and sixty million dollars in negotiable bonds. Anyone with any information that may lead to the capture of these perpetrators should contact the Mestionian Treasury Department.
