The Imperium to Develop Massive Ordnance Penetrator

The Massive Ordnance Penetrator, known as the MOP, is to be a 30,000 pound, GPS guided bomb capable of penetrating at least one hundred feet of earth and then explode, destroying whatever happened to have the misfortune of being the bomb's target. Over 75% of the weight of the bomb is to be the casing, made up of a heavy alloy allowing the bomb to stay intact during penetration of the target, 20% of the warhead is to be the explosives, and the final 5% is to be the bomb's various subsystems. Imperial Air Force officials have noted that the bomb could easily fit into the bays of a B-2, which is mostly due to the fact that it won't share the massive dimentions of its cousin, the MOAB.

[Not very coherent, I know, but there's almost no information about this bomb and I don't expect there to be until September at the earliest. And no, I'm not going to sell it, the last thing I need is some- wait, I better not give anyone any ideas.]

Occ- I am glad my Premier's bunker is about 700 feet below ground, and he is on the bottom level (100 feet deeper down)

[*glares at CM* Please mark your OOC comments as such. And that depth might very well not help you if you ever piss me off. I have bombers that could handle ten of these things and a good bombadier can line up two bombs in a straight line and double penetration that way.]

Not to mention collapse the systems leading up, cutting off air and trapping your president.

Artitsa is very interested in this boom, and wishes to provide some funding.

Occ- The bunker can sustain itself for 5-6 years without outside assistance. Also there are the standard secret escape tunnels. No bunker would be complete without them. :)

While we are pleased to see that Artistan Air Force has the sense to see the benefit this bomb can provide to its forces, this was more of an announcement than anything. Funding is not required nor is it requested, the reason for this is that we'd be forced to provide bombs to whoever helped with funding and the Imperium has no intention of distributing this bomb to any organization except the Imperial Air Force.

While the MoD has shown no interest in the development of a weapon that is seen to pose no threat to the United Kingdom and limited potential for its own use, a few amature enthusiasts have raised questions about the weapon. One wondered, in a letter to a militaria magazine, if the few thousand pounds of explosives purportedly contained in the weapon would not be greatly reduced in their worth by the massively heavy and tough casing around them, given that it is apparently able to hold together a thrity thousand pound mass landing with force enough to drive it a highly dubious hundred foot into the earth.

The forces of an impact are nothing compared to 3 tons of high explosives. The casing is designed to negate shearing, not be a stopgap against the warhead's explosive power.
