The M-08 Light Reconaissance Vehicle is the ARSB's replacement for its aging UAZ-R deep penetrating tactical reconaissance vehicles. The M-08 performs its duties superbly as a deep penetrating reconaissance vehicle, light utility vehicle, light/fast attack vehicle, and team deployment vehicle. The M-08's reconaissance version sports a 3m extending mast filled with 7 cameras for panoramic view, fully rotating thermal imaging system, laser designator, laser rangefinder, and a GPS system for extreme accuracy. This vehicle is the perfect vehicle for reconaissance and can be easily carried by helicopter due to its variable suspension (it can lower itself to near ground level) and its variable wheel base (its wheel-base can become narrower).

Standard Features of All Variants
Central Tire Pressure System- Allows for the automatic and continuous reinflation of a flat tire. Also allows for tire pressures to be varied for increased traction, surface area, pressure, etc.

All steel, reinforced rims- Allows the M-08 to run on a flat tire or with no tire at all.

Front and Rear Heavy Duty self-recovery winches

Towbar for towing any trailer

All-Wheel Drive- To allow for unsurpassed traction and controllability

All-Wheel Steering- To all for unsurpassed maneuvaribility and stability.

Re-Positionable Suspension System- Allows for the vehicle's suspension to be altered to keep it stable on slopes and also allows it to vary ground clearance and vehicle height, making it possible for this to fit into a helicopter. This system also allows for the vehicle wheel-base to be increased or decreased (wheels expanded outwards or inwards)

4 Armored doors

Bulletproof windows

Ramp for access to rear cargo compartment

3 Points for addition of armaments- Two roof points and one point near front passenger door.

Radar, laser, and missile warning systems.

Chaff deployment system

Arched Underside- Aids in mine resistance, also allows for easy obstacle crossing.

Fully Amphibious with a single multi-positionable SB-WJLV-35 waterjet capable of propelling the M-08 to about 12 knots in the water. Also, bilge pumps.

Fully aluminum body

Redundancy... Built in.
Survivability is a chief concern in the M-08 and the vehicle can limp away from an engagement using only one of its wheel-hub mounted electric magnet motors.

Engine- Standard on all variants
The engine is an SB-HEDD-RT31 hybrid diesel/electric engine. The engine produces 250 HP and displaces 6.2 liters. The engine is rated at 204 kWs. The engine is then connected to a 190 kW SB-PST/M08 permanent magnet generator that runs four SB-SWMA/T14 magnetic hub motors, located in each the hub of each wheel. The system also uses three SB-P3LiN battery packs to store power generated from the motor and the wheels (brakes).
The vehicle can operate in three modes, electric only, engine only, and hybrid. In the electric only mode, thermal and acoustic signatures are lowered to nearly 0, increasing its stealth capability. Engine only mode is used when the electric system is unusable, damaged, or for road/cross-country use. Hybrid mode is used when more power is required, allowing for stored energy to be used along with the energy created by the motor for increased performance and acceleration.

Reconaissance Vehicle (M-081 LRV)- $43,000
The M-08 utilizes a hydraulically actiavted 3m tall extending mast outfitted with thermal imaging (operating at 3 to 5 microns in length), seven angle video cameras for panoramic view, laser designator and ranger, and a GPS receiver and satellite uplink with an azimuthal accuracy of 3.6 mil to fulfill this role. The mast can rotate at two points, at the sensor pod and at the base where it joins with the vehicle. It can rotate a full 360 degrees
While performing the reconaissance role, the vehicle maintains the 3m sensor mast for deployment and use. Also assisting in this role is its low profile. To make this vehicle more stealthy, it comes with a hybrid diesel/electric engine, meaning the vehicle can operate on the electric portion alone to increase stealthiness. The LRV variant of the vehicle requires a crew of four and can be outfitted with one weapon (mainly a machine gun, but it can be outfitted with anti-tank equipment to become a potent anti-tank platform using the sensor systems) that can be mounted on either roof hatch (rear or front hatch). Another weapon can be mounted on a frame-type device near the front passenger side door and can be operated by that soldier.
The LRV variant, using its laser designator and thermal imaging, can designate targets for aircraft strikes. This variant can also operate as a forward meteorological

Light Utility Vehicle Variant (M-083 LUV)- $38,750
To fulfill the light utility vehicle role, the M-08's mast is removed (but can be kept, though it takes up half of the rear cargo compartment space) to create a fairly large cargo area (not including crew compartment). This compartment is fairly larger than the M151 Jeep and the UAZ-R's small boxes.
Also, it can fit up to 5 people inside the vehicle's crew compartment with another three being able to sit in the rear cargo compartment (with little to no cargo).

Light/Fast Attack Vehicle Variant (M-085A1 FAV) $48,500
To fulfill the light/fast attack vehicle role, the M-08 can travel at astonishing speeds over rough terrain while still having points for up to three weapons, including MGs, ATGM launchers, and grenade launchers. The M-08 also maintains a system for the addition of a remote control turret.
This vehicle can also be modified for being a mobile mortar system as well as an anti-tank system.
M-085A2
Mobile Mortar Variant- This variant's rear cargo compartment is replaced with a mortar system and hatches that open to allow it to fire on targets from the vehicle.

Team Deployment Vehicle (M-087 TDV)- $39,000
The TDV variant has no mast for the sensor suite, but instead has seats in the rear cargo compartment. The TDV also has more armor as well as landmine protection (much like the South African systems) that defeats most landmines and prevents the landmines from harming anyone inside. The TDV also has slightly more armor than its counterparts but is considerably heavier (even without the mast), meaning its speed is slightly reduced. The armor for the rear compartment can protect against most 7.62mm rounds (aside from 7.62x51, 7.62x54 and larger). The other armor on the vehicle can defend against all small calibers as well as rounds up to 7.62x39mm.

Command and Control Vehicle (M-091 CCV)- $47,600
The command and control vehicle variant has a heightened roof and a slightly longer body. This variant requires a crew of five, but can seat six. The CCV variant replaces the mast with an extensive radio system to compliment the radio and satellite systems already on the vehicle. This unit also has increased armor along the sides to protect against rounds up to 7.62x54mm. This variant has considerably less speed than any other. The mast can retained but at the cost of the sixth seat.

Air Defense Vehicle Variant (M-093 ADV)- $52,450
The Air Defense Vehicle variant has no sensor mast. The partition between the crew compartment and the cargo compartment is removed. The roof is strengthened even more to allow for the mounting of a surface to air missile launcher and miniature radar suite. This vehicle has very little armor and can defend against pistol-caliber ammunition up to 5.56x31mm. The ADV requires at least three personnel. It can seat up to five.

Medical Variant (M-099 MV)- $40,500
The medical variant is a reconfigured CCV variant only without the radio system. It has large rear double doors and can seat up to four personnel including two crew. The vehicle can fit up to 2 litter patients or 5 ambulatory patients.
