After saying a small prayer, the five men moved out. Their purpose: independence. After years of "oppression" (one of the men owned a Porsche, another an H2), the Protestant minority on St. Dominic (the smaller of the two islands making up Luftsgerden) decided to take control. These men were the first wave. The first window was broken. The first shots fired. The first grenade thrown. The first deaths. The five slipped into the darkness.
