Because of the inadequacies of the current class of battlecruiser in LRRSF service, the development of the Slowhand class heavy battlecruiser has been started.

The major defect with all previous LRR cruiser designs has been light armor. The Slowhand is covered in thick layers of elastic armor, and equipped with a powerful shield.
While it will be less manouverable than most other LRRSF ships, it is still more manouverable than most other navies' battlecruisers, and has a massive antimatter reactor which provides a very high maximum acceleration and speed (although stopping it at full speed is another thing altogether).
The Slowhand will be armed with six heavy antimatter cannons as its main weaponry, but will have many smaller Ion cannons for dealing with smaller ships. Several hundred laser point-defense turrets will provide close-in protection against fighters and torpedos, which the larger ion cannons cannot adequately track. Two large torpedo launchers will also be mounted on either side of the hull.
The Slowhand will carry a crew of 190, concentrated in engineering, fighter piloting, and sensors operation. The 2km long Slowhand will provide ample space for each crewmember, and a comprehensive librairy will be carried aboard the ship. 100 Hurricane IIB fighters will be carried, along with two resource collectors and 10 corvettes.
The Slowhand can build fighters, corvettes, resource collectors, and service frigates.
