Minister Vankurski of Kamskgrad, has declared his province a soverign nation, seperate from Artitsan rule. Artitsan policy towards these acts are usually quite lenient, as after a couple years the province collapses and rejoins the Empire. But now, Minister Vankurski represents only 25% of the Provinces opinion. Over 250,000 People have fled Kamskgrad into Artitsa, and intelligence indicates over 65 Million people in Kamskgrad wish to reunite with Artitsa. However, the military of Kamskgrad has sided with Valerie Vankusrki. Currently 20 Million out of the 90 Million populous of Kamskgrad are against reuniting with Artitsa. A small fraction of this 20 Million are currently bullying Pro-Artitsa families, often resorting to murder and pillaging to prevent them from leaving. 21,000 Artitsans have been murdered by Kamskgradians, and President Vladimir Overdanski has issued this address to the nation, and Artitsan people of Kamskgrad:

"People of the Socialist Union of Artitsa. Minister Valerie Vankurski has led his people into genocide. I can not stand idly by, as our nation is carved assunder, and its people murdered by minorities. This is why I am mobilizing the Artitsan Armed Forces, for a campaign into Kamskgrad. Thank you, and god bless."

As it stands, Artitsan forces being moved to the area are:
18th Infantry Division (14,000 Troops, 140 Volk IFV's, etc)
24th Infantry Division (12,000 Troops, 54 Volk IFV's, etc)

The campaign would start with a bid for airsuperiority. It would only be achieved by Artitsa, if those Kamskgrad S-500's were knocked out. The positions were known, but any missiles launched at them could be easily downed. But the Artitsan's knew the S-500's weakness...

Two AC-240's lifted off from airfields deep in Artitsa, carrying 18 AS-19's each. The two planes came to within 1500km of the S-500 batteries, and dropped the missiles. The 36 AS-19's immediatly dropped down to surface skimming level - below the engagement level of the S-500's, rendering them useless. The warheads split off, two 500kg warheads from each AS-19. The S-500's were completely destroyed, in one fell swoop. The first major battle of the war had been won, quite easily too.

14 Su-39's and 1 A-50 approached Kamskgrad airspace, on an attack run on known armour positions... however, 100 Su-37-900's came out to meet them. But this was a trap, set by Artitsa. Immediatly 210 S-500 Batteries lit up, the A-50 presenting them with 100 high altitude aerial targets, quite easily interceptable. Each battery launched two missiles, streaking towards the Su-37-900's. Not one survived, however, 24 managed to snap of two AA-13's each, destroying the Su-39's and A-50 AWACs. Having discovered the base of operations for the Kamskgrad airforce, 6 Tu-160's took to the air, carrying a very heavy payload of 48 AS-19's. The missiles were launched, striking the airfield, destroying the runways, 85% of the hangers, the control tower, munitions area, creating a massive fireball. 1,300 People were killed in the attack, and only 6 JF-20's and 2 Su-37-900's remain in the Kamskgrad airforce.

Dankov stayed close to blown out wall. It offered him good protection against the Kamskgrad soldiers. He moved onto his knees, and peered over the lip of the rubble. There was a ochre colour T-80UM7 hunkered down at the end of the street. Its main gun wasn't firing, but its coax and other MG's sure were. All around the tank were muzzle flashes, and every few seconds a figure would run the gauntlet across the street between the two buildings. More often then not that figure would slump to the ground before he made it to the doorway. Rounds began to hiss and whine around his head, pinging of the steel girder and chipping off the Cement. Dankov ducked back down, and slid a new mag into his AV-96. He waited a minute or two for the firing to subside, and he crawled around to the side of his shelter. He moved into the prone position, and peered through his sights, and spotted a target. Three floors up in the left house, the Kamskgradian seemed to be taking potshots at Dankov's friends and countrymen... this was unacceptable. Dankov exhaled and squeezed the trigger, sending three rounds screaming towards the Rebel. All three punctured the target from sternum to neck, who promptly fell out of the window. A few more minutes passed, Dankov dropping at least another two Rebels. He leaned out on his right side, and fired a 40mm grenade from underbarrel. An explosion was joined by the sounds of wounded men, their screams piercing the air. Dankov slid back into his fox hole, and reloaded his AV-96. The pebbles on the ground began to bounce and skitter across the ground, a low rumble was accented by the sounds of engines. The noise grew louder, and Dankov shrunk deeper into his fox hole. He looked to his right, and the sound seemed to get louder, definatly coming from his right. He swiviled and saw at least 4 Volk IFV's circling around, almost behind him... the right flank had given out. The ochre colour transports stopped and their rear ramps dropped. Quickly small arms fire answered them, a RPO-S slammed into the lead vehicle, dousing it in flame, just as the Kamskgradians were disembarking. They were smothered in flames, collapsing to the ground. The vehicle itself was fine, its 12mm coaxial chattering away, ripping through the Artitsan lines. Someone launched an RPG-22, which promptly punctured the turret and set off the magazine. It sparked and flared in a spectacular fashion. Dankov hefted his rifle up, and squeezed his trigger, having switched to automatic. His rounds panged off the Volk's, but he brought two Rebels down, and a third wounded. He was lining up a killing shot on the third, while one of the Volk's was lining up its own shot with the 120mm gun. The round left the barrel and impacted just behind Dankov, stamping him into the ground, and everything went dark.

-=-=-=-=

Dankov roused up to the whane of automatic fire, the systematic drum of Kord HMG's. He could not see anything. He opened his eyes, and his world was swirling. Dankov had only been out for a few seconds, but it sure felt like eternaty. Once again he lifted his rifle and rattled off a few more shots, not even aiming, just suppressing fire. There was a sound behind him... the T-80UM7... they had forgotten about it. He looked around just to see it climb over the rubble next to him, almost crushing three Artitsan Soldiers as it came down. There it sat, the 14.7mm gun on the turret prattling away down the Artitsan lines. They were screwed, plain and simple. He looked back at the Volks, still firing. Their load of Kamskgrad soldiers had already spilled out and were pouring on the fire. There was a loud screaming sound, but not human. It was coming from the sky... Damkov looked up to see a blurred line slam into the T-80UM7, shattering it completely. Deadly shrapanal flew out, slashing Dankovs face, forcing his eyebrow open, gushing blood. He held his hand to his face, and looked up - past the burning wreckage that was the T-80UM7. Two D.223's were circling around for another pass. They came in low and hard, opening up with their 45mm guns. The rocket assisted HE rounds smashed two Volks apart, and ripped through the infantry. They turned away, to help another front that was probably also in need of assistance. The remaining two Volk IFV's powered forwards towards the Artitsan lines, but they never made it. 8 T-95UM2's practically came out of no where (in actuallity the treeline about a km to their backs) firing their 152mm guns. The rounds utterly shattered the two IFV's. The Kamskgrad soldiers managed to fire off two Bayonet ATGM's at the tanks. All eight intiated countermeasures, and all eight TAMs systems came to life, blowing the two missiles out of the air. The Artitsan troops fixed bayonets, and charged, Dankov leading them. He looked back, there were only a dozen of them left as they charged into Kamskgradian lines. Damkov stabbed and jabbed, thrust and clubbed until nothing was standing around him. There were 8 Artitsan's now, but no more Kamskgrad. The two Apartment buildings back to the east, exploded, causing a shower of debree. The 8 T-95UM2's moved on, smoke dribbling from their barrels. Of the 45 Man platoon, only 8 men remained of the 12th VDV Regiment, 6th Platoon.

However, Kamskgrad has grown violent, and only 15% of their population are supporting this cecession. ALSO, they have been murdering Artitsan people, with the death toll over 20,000. We cannot allow this genocide to continue can we?"

Given Artista's status as a Socialist nation, Lasatania would be willing to provide 50,000 troops under the pretence of the Overseas Volunteer Force. They shall in fact be troops of the 1st Red Guards Brigade, one of our more infamous divisions, their noteriety stemming from the slaughter of 1,000 innocent civilians during a COIN mission in our nation's interior during the 60's; a time of political dissent...

Additionally, we would be willing to deploy the Expeditionary Fleet [ 1 aircraft carrier with 2xSu35 sqdns, 3 destroyers, 3 cruisers, 26 frigates, 6 nuclear submarines (Akula class) ] to your region until such times as order is restored.

Hand weapons:
AKR Submachine Gun
AKM Assault Rifle
RPK Automatic Rifle
PK Machine Gun

The AK74 is the standard issue rifle, with a 5.45mm calibre, AK47's using 7.62mm are also issued

PLus Soviet design RPGs and grenades

Most troop movement is either by truck or BDRM-2 copy

The LAF can probably provide transport for strategic movements of troops and equipment.

The OVF will come supplied with sufficient supplies for two weeks, after that local logistics infrastructure may be needed for supply of equipment.

Ok. Airlift of the divisions will begin immediately, using the entire Il-79 fleet and all 5 An-124s in LRRAF service.

OCC: Yeah I know that. But the FCT-17 (I bought it from Soviet Bloc) is an excellent vehicle and, in terms of firepower at least, is a match for the T-80. Its strengths lie in its manouverability and speed. It can float, too. The LRRA has never used tanks in large numbers, partially for cost reasons but also because the LRRA places more value in long-range ATGMs and anti-tank capability. Although with the reduction in APC numbers this might change....

The problem is that the LRRA can't afford enough APCs for everyone, so now the APC is used more like a fire support platform for infantry, and as a tank destroyer. The infantry uses mostly amphibious trucks to get around.

OCC: Well, I used to have 40,000 but I then realized that other people had like 1,000 so I reduced it, so the numbers fluctuate wildly. The LRRA has a total of 26,000 APCs (including special variants) and 20,000 light infantry support tanks, which are equipped with a small 80 something milimeter ETC gun, which can punch a hole in a tank, and are amphibious. 3,000 MBT-6 tanks (which are equipped with a 110mm high-velocity ETC cannon or a 120mm regular cannon, depending on the tech level accepted) are used by the LRRA as well. But none of the APCs or tanks used by the LRRA's mainstream ground forces are really easy to transport by air, so generally paratroopers are more lightly equipped, but equipped with more modern weaponry besides the APC-3, which is essentially a more reliable and up-armored MT-LB, and the Ak-47.

IC: At major military airports, paratrooper divisions board Il-79 large-capacity transports for the trip to Artitsa.

The transport is done by brigade, so each unit will arrive with its equipment.

I'm going to send a fleet led by the MKM Curtis Fabus (A Curtis Fabus Class Battleship designation BB-04)

The fleet will just observe and see what is going on and determine if intervention is warranted.

8 Stalin Class Frigates (Oliver Hazard Perry just renamed)

8 Hitler Class Destroyers (Arleigh Burke just renamed)

8 Kirov CGN

7 Farragut DDG stealth

2 Yorktown Carriers

2 Fabus Class Super Carriers (Nimitz just renamed) (50 F-14Ds. 15 F/A 18 Hornets. 20 Rafale M)

The fleet will be commanded by Admiral Ernst Raeder. The Curtis Fabus flagship will be commanded by Captain Gunther Lindemann.

Captain Gunther Lindemann (36) The captain of the MKM (Mississippian Kriegs Marine) Curtis Fabus, the first of the line of the super battleships of the “Curtis Fabus” class. The captain is a very honorable man, he is a throwback to the old days of chivalry, and he is also reputed to be a womanizer. He is very skilled in naval warfare and is a friend of Premier Fabus and Field Marshal Reginald Smith. He can be reckless at times

Admiral Ernst Raedar (42) Admiral in the MKM. He is a handsome and skilled if somewhat reckless naval officer. He likes to arbitrarily assert his authority and let people know he is in control of them. He had been known to commit terrible atrocities just because in his words, “I could.”

The current Curtis Fabus Class Battleship can be found here.

http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=340990

But note that the ship has been declared "A floating coffin" as 1 capsized when it fired it's main guns all in the same direction. The other 6 ships are being refitted and heavily modified in specially built shipyards. The "Curtis Fabus" however is going to accompany the fleet we're sending as an attempt to intimdate any possible foes into steering clear.

Our ships will sail around South America rather than through the Panama Canal, as the Curtis Fabus cannot fit through it. Do we need to go that way though? Or should we be heading to Europe? Where exactly are you located?

Side note, will whoever owns the Panama Canal please widen it, or allow us to widen it?

Instead of a system of locks and having to raise and lower ships. I suggest you allow us to build a straight through canal, we'll pay for it all and provide the labor and equipment. We just ask that we be allowed to use it when we need to. It will be about 3/4 mile wide.

The entire 1,800 Ship navy (minus 300 or so, so 1500 ships right now) will be ready to respond to any funny business.

I'm just sending the ships in so I can have the Curtis Fabus fire a few rounds into the ocean to scare people, and it will possibly capsize. Not sure yet.

OCC: The first brigade of Paratroopers (from the 56th Parachute Division, 2nd Brigade) has arrived at the most convenient airport, if that's ok.

IC:

The LRRA will also send one armored division to help quell the rebellion.

OCC: How much should be in a division of 10,000 troops? I mean in terms of vehicles?

ooc: If its infantry... not much I suppose. I usually field 150 Volks for 10,000 infantry. Mechanized is 10,000 men, 1,000 Volk's, 250 to 400 tanks.

Ok. So one armored division of 8,000 infantrymen, 1,000 CV-9040 IFVs, and 250 MBT-6 Mohawks will be sent via Algol fast RO/RO ship immediately.

The Federation of Morathania is watching the events unfolding in Artitsa very carefully. While we condemn the actions of the rebels we hope that this does turn it an even worse problem as Artitsan forces crush rebel forces. We will watch for any sign that Artitsan forces are committing the same atrocities. For now 1200 peacekeepers will be called in to observe the war if Artitsa allows them in. This is as a precureser to a larger deploment of troops to assist government forces.

We generally do not accept peacekeepers, and also we will not stop until Kamskgrad is reunited with Artitsa.
