Lost in Translation: The Language Issue
Axio, Les Isle de Ceylece (Zils de Sejche) --
Outside of the National Assembly of the Ceylece the Ceylcian people rallied, attempting the government to change the official language of the nation from French to the local Creole in order to better represent the people.
Some say that even isn't enough, as Creole only makes up for about 60% of the linguistic make-up of Ceylecians. Yatin (Lingŭa Llatyna, 10%), Fokspäk (a local German creole, 10%), Ežar (a local dialect of Cyproit Turkish, 5%), Arabic (5%), German (5%), and French (5%) all make up the spoken tounges of the Isles.
The the Ceylecian government already prints all public documents (excluding educational: school is taught in French) in Creole, but retains the position that adding Creole or any/all of the other national languages to the constitution would cost the government too much for translation and printing.
The fear is that this seperation between the government and the people will feed the already growing sense of regionalism, so the Ceylece Isles asks the international community for help: what should we do?

Sarzonia

No, go with Luxembourgistanian.
Sarzonia's official language is English and all government business is conducted in English, but people are free to speak whichever language they choose to in their homes or in their ethnic communities. However, anyone who immigrates to Sarzonia is expected to learn English. No traffic signs or government documents are printed in any languages other than English (except Braille, but that's not a language).
Sarzonian citizens are expected to be fluent in at least one other language and are expected to be at least on the intermediate level in a third language. Elementary schools include foreign language education starting in the Sarzonian equivalent of third grade. High schools start compulsory instruction of a second foreign language in ninth grade and four years of both the second and third foreign language are required in high school.
At least three years of foreign language education is required in colleges and universities throughout the country. This can either be a third foreign language or continued study in either of the first two.

OOC - Zoogiedom's diplomatic view of Praetonia has just been elevated exponentially. Latin p4wns all!!!!11l337!!!1111one
Zoogiedom's official national language is Zoogiedan, which is a very, very, very close and modern 'version' (so to speak) of Latin (try translating fax machine into classical latin, you have about ten words...)...English is a closely integrated secondary language, while other languages such as Esperanto, French, and Greek are offered in school.
So we're fairly universal...Latin-ish, English, and Esperanto!
Force the world to learn English. (American English)
Proper English is English english. Americans!

Italiano is still the closest universal language to latin. Since we are the Latin Race, latin is used here universally. And we celebrate our roman heritage often!
