Wettic's confederate stellar defense system for sale

System defenses
As our colonies became more heavily populated and more important the minds in the military turned to the question of how we could defend these systems against attacks from invading fleets. After 10 years of development we believe we have the answer and we have begun to install the first CSD system in the Wetticus system. The defenses comprise several layers of defenses that are designed to pick up, slow down and if possible destroy an enemy attempting to attack us.

Deep Space listening post

Before you can attack an enemy, you first have to find him and that is what these listening posts do. They are powered by antimatter making it necessary for them to be refuelled every 5 years. It is covered by a 15 cm thick layer of astorium except for the sensor arrays and in addition protected by a Accumulator shield generator, making it impossible to destroy the sensor grid without us noticing it. It is also carrying 20 of the new FD-1 Bee, a fighter drone which is 5 meters long and carries a single plasma cannon in the front. This gives it some fighter coverage without the costs it would take to station real fighters there.

It can only operate for 2 hours on a battery and is capable of going 0.2c. Although capable of fighting independently with its on board cpu it is controlled by the qucomp of the listening post which is there because the sensor array is a fourth generation Agatha. The entire post is 60 meters long and can pick up every speck of dust for over 7 lightyears. Larger objects can be traced over larger distances but objects smaller then 50 km or weighing less then 500 milion metric tons are invisible to the array when they are at least 12 lightyears away.

Outer ring defense cannons

For the defense of the outer ring of the system we needed something capable of covering an area of several lighthours and in the end we turned to our ripper beam emitter. It is the only weapon in our arsenal capable of faster then light travel but it is very power hungry and we had troubles getting a range big enough for our purposes. In the end we managed this by making the beam last only for a millisecond but the power necessary is still confining these weapons to five shots before refuelling is necessary. Normally the weapon is powered down to conserve power and prevent detection and is only activated once the enemy comes into range. At that time it rapidly fires it shots at enemy capital ships which will either destroy or seriously damage them.

Fighter defense satellites

These satellites provide the cover against fighters around the outer ring defense cannons and the defense stations. They have a plasma cannon in the main body for use against small capital ships but they also have 2 boxes containing 50 FD-1 Bees each which provide the fighter cover. The satellites have an antimatter power core although they are only powered up when an enemy attacks or the system is put on high alert. Normally there are 3 of these satellites around each defense cannon and 8 around defense stations.

Defense station

These stations are only in the inner system around important places like the colony, the space stations and the shipyards. The colony has 3 of them and the stations and refineries each have one while the shipyards gets 2. The turrets you see contain particle beam cannons that can do quite some damage. These stations are manned by a crew of 12 which also handle traffic in the area. It is from these stations that the defenses of the system are monitored and activated and it is here that the ships of the Wettic navy dock for resupplying and minor repairs. They have 3 meter thick polarised Astorium armour with an accumulator shield generator for protection. The station is powered by an antimatter power core and has a qucomp to control the fighter drones and fire the cannons after the crew has selected the targets. These stations also carry 2000 decoys as a means to protect the station from missiles. These decoys do not only attempt to fool the missiles to lead them away from their targets but also explode when they get near several missiles sending shrapnel in all directions to destroy the missiles.

Orbital cannons

This is not the last line of defense but it is the last line of defense against capital ships. These ion cannons can only be found around the colony and other installations nearer to the sun because they are solar powered. They fire a bolt of charge particles at the ships, which can do considerable damage. But the side effect of the ion bolt is more important here. The charged particles have the tendency to short out the electronic equipment of the ship thus disabling at least part of the ship. There are 50 around the colony and 80 around the sun with several more placed around the shipyards.

Planetary defense cannons

This last line of defense is not really capable of taking out capital ships unless they come into a low orbit around the planet. They are equipped with 2 types of weapons and are manned by a crew of 2. They are powered by geothermal energy when possible but usually they have get their energy from the colony’s power grid although they do have a reserve battery which can keep them going for several hours. They have an accumulator shield generator located in the control tower between the 2 arms and are covered in 50 centimeter thick Astorium armour. The main weapons are the 2 rail guns which are the 2 larger barrels. These fire rounds containing a few grams of antimatter which are launched at an enemy trying to perform a landing and then detonate at a predetermined altitude. The 2 smaller barrels are lasers which are either used as range finders on a low power setting or can be turned to full power to attack any craft that managed to get near the surface of the planet were an explosion of several kilotons might do too much damage. They are only placed around the large cities and then some distance away from them so that they don’t form an eyesore to the population.

We are now selling this system to interested parties. Note that the technologies used in the system are property of the Interstellar confederacy of Wetland and may not be copied for use in other systems.

The price at the moment is 2.8 trillion florins to defend one system containing one inhabited world and 6 additional installations.

Modifications to the interior of the manned installations can be made. We will do this free of charge of course. Now before I can name a price I need a bit more info about what exactly the system will need to protect within these 6 systems.

But because you are an ally, I will sell you what you need for these 6 systems at 9 billion florins. If you do not use currency, we can work something out but we will need to know what kind of rare resources you mine.
