I'm starting a new thread, which is pretty obvious. I thought it would be cool to make a giant rp where anyone can join and we make up nation historys for ourselfs. We start in the acient era where we don't even have fire and stuff and advance over time.

That actually sounds like fun. And its quite a wonderful coincidence; as I was trying to decide what my nation's history was in the first place! ^.^

Alright, I have 2 people so I guess I can start. Still, anyone who wants to join can.

In a set of mountains there is a cave, there dwells the first people of Opet. The leader of the 10 men and women emerges from the cave wearing a fur cloth around himself. He looks around at the surrounding land. He nodds to the 6 other men of the group and they emerge and follow him down into the plains below the cave. There sits a strange animal, a big grey beast with huge tusks and giant ears. It's squinty eyes make the beast un-aware of the men around him. The leader of the men gives a signal and they all jump at the beast with their clubs. After 30 minutes they finally kill the beast. 2 of the men have been slain. They cut the valuable pieces from the body and leave the rest for the birds as they head back towards their cave.

While the men are inside eating their pray, a storm settles over head. A bolt of lightning hits a nearby tree and lights. They people of Opet have discovered fire.

I am Supreme Overlord Vladimir Poltoska, leader of the Armed Republic of Grazhkjistan.

Grazhkjistan was founded in 1735 by Antonin Dvelyevic, a prince from Russia. Dvelyevic (pron. Dvelyevich) was a good man. A fair, Just and strong leader. His family grew large and powerful, as did others. Eventually, there were three powerful families. The Dvelyevics, The Golayavens, and The Poltoskas. Chancellor Dvelyevich decreed that every 10 generations, governmental power would be given to one of the 3 leading families.

however, the Golayaven Family was not pleased with this ruling. They wanted all-encompassing power over the entire country. And so, when the power was given to them, Yuri Golayaven declared himself All-Powerful Divine King, and ordered every member of the other two families executed.

However, he missed one. My Great-Great-Great-Great-Great-Great-Great-Great-Great-Grandfather, Nikolai Poltoska. He survived the wrath of the Golayaven Holocaust, and swore revenge.

The first thing All-Powerful Divine King Yuri Golayaven wanted was wealth. And so, over the next 20 years, Grazhkjistan changed from an Aristocracy to a Dictatorship. Yuri I proposed ridiculously high taxes and publicly executed anyone without the money to pay them. Many Corporate bases were set up in the capital city of Bolaya. The wealthy were treated as normal citizens... everyone else was garbage. The wealthy lived lives of decadence in mansions, everyone else in slums. This went on for 27 generations. Until Yuri XXVIII was on parade, waving from the back of a Car. I remember the day well. I was standing on the roof of a building nearby... with a sniper rifle. I was about to fulfill the goal laid down by Nikolai Poltoska, nearly 300 years ago. When the bullet passed through his neck, everyone cheered. I revealed myself to the public, and was praised as a national hero. A 23-generation reign of oppression and terror had just ended. I now sit in the seat of power, and I am trying my damnedest to change this country to what it should be.

I am telling the history of MY people. Excuse me if it is not to your liking, but you don't have that choice, just as I have no choice of the history of Opet.

Callisdrun
20-07-2004, 06:18
Early Callisdrun was not a very fun place to be. As now, the weather was brutal, and it alone killed all but the strongest in the time before history had been invented. Already though, traditions had come about out of necessity. The people always dyed the skins and furs they wore black, to soak up as much heat as possible. A young man and woman stood side by side, observing a valley. Callisdrun's people were primitive, yet surprisingly advanced in some ways. Iron hatchets hung on rope belts on the waists of both the man and the woman. They were looking at a cave on the other side of the valley surrounded by small earthen huts. A non-vampiric tribe lived there, one that their vampiric tribe frequently clashed with. It wasn't their fault, they needed the blood to survive, and if it was not willingly given to them, they had to take it by force. Though their attacks always caused injury, they rarely killed their victims, as that would deprive them of a nourishment supply in the long term, as well as bring the humans vengeance down upon them.

The woman smiled, her slightly elongated canines glinting in the moonlight. Behind them, their clan assembled, armed with clubs and rope.

A year had passed since the men of Opets dicovery of fire. Since then they have had many break throughs. They ahd discovered the wheel, masonry and bronze working. They had founded a small town in the plains below the cave which was now made into a temple for their god. The town had 10 meter high stone walls and a wooden gate. There were 53 houses in the town and a market. The people of Opet had become more civilized as they advanced. They used slaves to tend to their farms and mines. In the temple there were paintings all over the walls and a pool of emerald water sat in the middle of the floor. The pool was 100 meters deep and and of a rectangular shape.

The area around the valley had by now grown into the city of Drun. The vampire clan no longer lived in a cave called Sorvik, but in a fortress built on the site and they had adopted the cave's name as that of their family. Human-Vampire relations had improved a bit, though vampires were not afforded many of the rights of citizenship, as they were still feared. With a greater pool to feed from, injuries and death were now very rare as the vampires put more planning and consideration for the welfare of the humans into their feeding, and donations from the Sorvik family had helped build new temples and paid for the maintenance of the old ones. The civic center was impressive, with the city Alting (council) chamber at the center, surrounded by other government and religious buildings, all made out of stone. Several docks had been built on the nearby fjord

Cities in other parts of what would later become Callisdrun were similar, the most notable of them was Callisdrin, far to the south. By now, all the people, not only the vampires, had become quirky, though the place was more livable. Pale skin and dark hair were common. The people of south tended to be a bit bigger than those of the north, and had a higher body temperature, though still abnormally low by anyone else's standards.

What had brought the vampires and humans closer together had been an attempted invasion from the east. Since then, defense had been a major concern, so fortresses had been built on the eastern frontier.

The people of Opet had expanded their empire using their armies of men with bronze armor and short swords. They had had many victories over the barbarians in the area. The captured barbarians were sold into slavery while the people of Opet benifited from their work.

OOC:Callisdrun, do you want to have our 2 places by each other so we can open up trade later or what?

IC:The people of Opet had founded 7 other cities. Each with at least 100 houses and 2 markets. They had found a great body of water to the north of them and had begun devising ways to traverse it.

OOC: Where you planning on attacking me?

No, Callisdrun only borders three countries and they're all in my region. At this point the Callisdrunians are too busy killing each other to worry about other people, except for the hated Altar Rangians.

Later, from about the point of what would be 500 AD onwards to about 1200 AD they're very much like the vikings and come to some foreign lands as the terror of the seas, and to others as pleasant but rather odd people who are nonetheless eager to trade.

Murl
20-07-2004, 12:21
The nation of Murl gained independence in two parts: the western half from the Belgians in 1699, and the eastern half from the British in 1713. In July of 1713 when the Murl was divided into two parts, each country became a monarchy, which is how it was until 1786, when West Murl deposed of King Gerald II on the grounds that he was found to have three wives at the same time. His son, the King of East Murl took over West Murl, and the countries have been united ever since. In 1780, West Murl abandoned Dutch and German as it's official languages, and adopted English, leading to civil unrest in the communities of Belgians who still lived there. When they were finding it difficult to find work, as few spoke English, most left, but the city of Gersbarn still has about 10,000 Belgians living in it.
The monarchist system ended in 1814, when Queen Henrietta decided to abdicate, and nobody was willing to succeed her. After a year of anarchy in government, a system of 'democratic' elections (in which only aristocrats could vote) was devised, and President Martin Lonwhich was elected to a ten year term (which was reduced to five years in 1827, and to four years in 1951). President Lonwhich was a poor leader, and twelve of his aides resigned in 1819 when the President introduced a tax on all foods against advice. This led to royalists unofficially instating the nephew of Queen Henrietta, Earl Loach as King, and to several thousand poorer people starving, as they couldn't afford food.
In 1872, President Harold Salesman introduced full democratic elections, in which any man or woman could vote, and lost by a landslide in the first election of it's kind in the country. His successor, President Robert Ham served the longest Presidential term in the history of the country, which lasted from July 1872 until July 1907, when he lost the election to William German, who was unique out of the Presidents of Murl, as he was the only one to have been assassinated. On August 9th 1908, just after a year in office, the President was shot dead by a man who had broken into his house, as he undressed to go to bed. It is rumoured that a maid walked in, saw the half-naked President slumped on the floor, presumed he had fallen asleep on the floor, and left him. Nobody realised what had happened until the next morning, when the same maid went to th President's bedroom to give him breakfast and the newspapers, saw that the President was still on the floor, rolled him over to wake him up, and found that he was covered in blood. However, certain conspiracy theorists suggest that the maid could have killed the President, others say that he shot himself, and some even think that he genuinely did fall asleep on the floor, and he was shot as he sleeped.

Berlin, Germany

A lone car raced through the rubble-strewn streets. It's passengers were a plain-clothed SS officer and his young wife. As they reached the edge of the city, he breathed a sigh of relief. All that remained was the long drive to Hamburg, then a ship to freedom...

The NAS was founded on september the 23rd, 1945 by a group of fifty-nine SS officers and their families, fleeing American retribution in Germany.
The Country was unofficial for close to forty years, before it's official decleration in 1992, by which point most of the SS officers had passed away or were so old that they no longer posed any threat.

The East coast federation was formed from several nations on the east coast on the atlantic Ocean(go figure) After a Large scale bloody war taking place in the 1950's The 6 nations that became the EFC today.
Through the 1960's and 70's the Goverment Went from right wing to ultra right wing. In 1985 The 6 nations went from a Loose conefedertion to a tightly bound federation that became one nation The East coast Federation. 2030 The goverment shifted to Left Wing. This new goverment lead by brillinant Sean Willing the Ecf Lunched many new programs inculding the truely Legandary ECF Class Batteship feared by any lone ship.

Soon After a seris of was of human rights the anti matter engine was invenented. We then entereda 400 year period of isolation.

today the goverment is still Liberal and thats the way is should be.

Luxembourgistan
20-07-2004, 15:33
The now-great nation of Luxembourgistan began as a resting place for traveling merchants in their long treks from city to city. Eventually the merchants began to build lasting structures where the nation's current capital, Capitalism City, is now located. The town continued to grow and grow, until it was decided that a ruler was needed to settle disputes and enact laws.

The man who chose to take up the mantle was the mighty King Iinius the First, at the time the most wealthy man in the city. Under his guidance, the young nation prospered, and became a mighty power in the region. Soon realizing that a larger area than the city and its immediate environs should be permitted to benefit from their prosperity, King Iinius began training of a military with which to liberate the surrounding people from their tyrranical rulers and barbarism. Soon, nearly all of the surrounding tribes and city-states had been brought under the rulership of Iinius, and the mighty Empire of Luxembourgistan was formed.

Since those days, the country's borders have continued expanding, though at a slightly slower rate than those first few years. The economy has prospered, the people have rejoiced, the protestors have been shot, and the kings have truly led the nation's people down a path that will ensure the country remain powerful for years to come.
Mattikistan
20-07-2004, 16:14
Mattikistan was once a troubled region. Five groups of people, essentially tribes, developed on what is now known as Alioth Island, and upon encountering each other began an on-off war which raged for hundreds of years. These five groups eventually became nations, with governments in various states of democratic evolution. Nearly everyone was in, or had been in, the military at some point in their lives, and each wanted to kill the other.

Until one man, known only as Matt, proposed a peace in the early 15th century. Surprisingly, the five national leaders listened to each him. Even more surprisingly, they worked out a treaty. Afterwards, these leaders began to talk more and more with each other until they realised; nobody knew why they had been fighting in the first place. Fifty years after The Matt had suggested peace, talks about a union began. They recognised that they could be more constructive than destructive, and that together their capacity to do good would be increased significantly.

The Articles of Confederacy were drawn up. They included the basic rights for all human beings, regardless of race, sex or political ideals, and the policies and mechanisms of the new nation that would be formed. In honour of the man who had made it all possible, the new nation would be called the 'Confederacy of Mattikistan'. By 1701 A.D., the Articles of Confederacy were signed by the leading figures of each of the five nations, and they became one. It was one of the earliest and most free democratic states to exist.

Since then, Mattikistan has remained neutral in relation to other nations. We have no 'allies' or 'enemies' as such, although we have closer relations with some than others. Mattikistan has kept out of all military conflicts, major or minor, and proceeded with its goals of bettering humanity through science, technology and cultural development. Regardless of the sides involved in the war, a tent with the Mattikistan flag on top could always be seen administering food and medical supplies to all injured people, uniform or not. The last major engagement for Mattikistan was in 1832, when the forces of the Rebel Movement, who wished to see a return to the violent war between the five tribes, were captured.

The people of Opet continued to advance. They had discovered ways to move over the waters and had great fleets of galleys. The empire had expanded greatly and had an army of great power. They had learned many new things such as iron working, construction, pottery, writing, ceremonial burial, mysticism, horseback riding, literature, map making, philosophie, code of laws and currency.
Callisdrun
20-07-2004, 20:02
In a few hundred years, the land later known as Callisdrun had become mostly consolidated into two realms, them being known as Callisdrin and Drun. The two sometimes fought, sometimes allied against others and sometimes just ignored each other. By now the Callisdrunians had become experts in both stone and metal working. Imposing castles now dotted the landscape. In the fjords, extensive harbors had been built, where fleets of longboats rested, unless of course they were being used to pillage towns across the oceans. Many slower, but larger cargo ships lay at anchor as well, for exchanging goods in a more friendly way. The cities had become more grand, the expansion largely bankrolled by the vampiric clans, who did a great portion of the foreign pillaging. Vampire-human relations had now developed into what could be called an uneasy coexistance, maybe even tolerance. Inter-marrying was still illegal, and educational facilities were seperate. These inequities would not be adressed for several hundred years to come. The most influential vampire families were the houses of Sorvik, Farkas, Harthy, and Novikas.

Wars were common, but usually not fought on a grand scale, except with the ever hated nation of Altar Rang. Despite the tension between the human populace and the vampires, the humans were greatful for their bloodthirsty countryfolk when wars like these came.

Trade had been slow, but with the rapid expansion of both war fleets and merchant marine fleets, it looked like it would open up greatly and provide more revenue to the area.

As 3 Opet galleys were exploring the great ocean, they came across another ship. It appeared to be a of another settled civilization. The galleys raced back to the city of Opet, otherwise know as the city of the moon. When they arrived at the stone docks, the men raced for the palace of the gry-lion of Opet who was their king. "My lord, it appears that we have found some other people." "More barbarians I suppose?" "No my lord, they are settled." "Interesting, send out 10 galleys to find these people at once!" "Yes my lord." At that the men left the palace and returned to the docks. The ships set sail in 2 hours with 5 galleys containing 100 legionaries each and the other 5 galleys had items for trade.
Callisdrun
20-07-2004, 20:33
As the ship returned to port, its captain sought the council at once. At the meeting that night, he explained that while out at sea he encountered three ships, of a kind he had never seen before. The council asked if the ships had been advanced or primitive, as primitive ships would have indicated a people who were vulnerable and ripe for pillaging. The captain informed them that the ships, though obviously not built to deal with Callisdrunian weather, were finely built and quite fast, and that though he was confident in his people's ability to fight a defensive war against anyone, he advised peaceful trade with whoever owned these ships, as fighting would probably bring them nothing. The council ordered a double patrol of longboats be sent out, with orders to make contact with these ships if spotted, and ascertain their nationality. After some discussion, it was decided that the vampires should temporarily be forbidden from sailing, as they might unduly frighten these new people. The council then moved on to other topics, such as the enlargement of Drun Castle, the construction of new temples to Tyr and Ishtar and other such matters.

OOC: City of the Moon, approximately what year are you in? By the way, the Callisdrunians consider themselves barbarians, as that is what they have been called by several of their neighbors, though are by now a mostly-civilized society. As you probably could have guessed, a Callisdrunian longboat looks basically like a viking ship (also called a longboat) for reference purposes.
The City of the Moon
20-07-2004, 20:39
OOC: The people of Opet are in the year 600 from the founding of Opet. So about the year 200 BC.

IC: As the ships sailed out into the great ocean they saw a fleet of the unknown ships sailing towards them. The flag ship of the Opet fleet sailed forward to great the other fleet.
Callisdrun

The captain of the lead longboat raised a signal flag for the other ships in the fleet to stop. Compared to the matching ships of these new foreigners, the Drun longboat fleet looked a bit motley. The sails were personalized, no two were alike, and the gargoyle and dragon heads of the longboats did not match each other most of the time. Some of the longboats carried ballistas on the deck near the bow, some did not. Most looked beat up, as it had been a long and hard winter.

The captain of the lead longboat went to the bow and raised his hand in greeting. Seeing that the foreign ships did not appear hostile, his second in command lowered her bow. Their long dark hair blew in the wind as they came close to the other ship.
The City of the Moon

The captain of the flag ship acknowledged the greeting from the strange man. The young captain asked the foreign man if he could bord his ship but was un-aware of if the man would understand what he was saying.
Callisdrun
20-07-2004, 21:10
A man who appeared to be the captain of the lead foreign ship spoke something in a strange language that the captain of the lead longboat, who was named Oysten, did not understand. He appeared to want to board Oysten's longboat. Oysten looked to his second in command, who nodded that she saw no threat and so Oysten then spoke agreement in Callisdrunian, which he was sure the foreign captain would not understand, as it was incomprehensible even to those who had lived on the other side of Callisdrun's borders for years. However, he felt confident that an agreeable friendly tone of voice would get the message across, and he then gestured from the foreign ship to his to indicate that the foreign captain could board his ship.

OOC: What language do the people of Opet speak? And for contrast, what does the Opet captain look like?
The City of the Moon
20-07-2004, 21:13
OOC: The people of Opet speak punic for now but when we get into the modern times we will speak english. And everybody in Opet has golden skin. They wear roman type tunics and armor.
The City of the Moon
20-07-2004, 21:17
The captain, who was naimed Habbakal Lal, understood the sign from the foreigner to board the ship. He waved to a slave who brought a plank of wood over and placed it between the 2 ships. Habbakal Lal then boarded the foreign ship with 10 of his soldiers and 5 black slaves. He approached the captain of the ship and signaled one of the slaves to approach also. The slave then knelt before the foreign captain and held a golden statue of an olive branch.
Callisdrun
20-07-2004, 21:40
OOC: Ok, I believe I've already described the Callisdrunians a bit, but in case I haven't (I'm fairly absent-minded) I will describe them now. The language is an eclectic mix of Norwegian and Hungarian, with words from those two languages used interchangably. Callisdrunians generally are very pale with dark hair. Some of the Southern Callisdrunians have slightly lighter hair and a bit of a more olive complexion. Both men and women have long hair, and men generally have short beards. Clothing wise they're similar to the Vikings, except they often wear trousers with leather boots.

IC: Oysten smiled. Though gold was not as valued in Callisdrun as elsewhere (even kings wore crowns made of iron) the statue was beautifully done, and though he had never seen these people before, he knew the olive branch to be a symbol of peace. He graciously accepted the statue, and then went back to the longboat's small cargo hold. When he returned he held delicately in his hands a small bronze statue of Freya, Callisdrunian goddess of love and peace. She was portrayed breaking a spear with her hands, a Callisdrunian gesture of peace, and around her neck she wore a sort of necklace made of olives leaves and flowers. Oysten also held out a bronze amulet, with a gilt sunburst at its center. Since the longboat was stopped, he had his crew stand and each raise one hand in greeting. When he looked at the crew of the foreign ship, he found it rather odd, though not surprising, that none of them were women. Drun had started allowing women in its military a few years earlier, although they had always participated in defensive wars. He also found the dark-skinned men who appeared to be slaves of some kind rather odd. Callisdrunians did not keep slaves, as it was generally seen as a sign of weakness to have another do one's work. Luckily, the council had picked Oysten to lead the fleet on this mission of greeting because he was a friendly and easygoing fellow keenly aware of how different other cultures might be from his own. Besides, being the first to greet another people rather excited Oysten.

Habbakal Lal accepted the gift from the man, althought he did not fully understand what i represented. He handed it to one of the slaves which then took it back to his ship. The captain then made a fist and slaped below his right shoulder as a sign of salute. He then looked at the woman that were stationed around the ship. He did not understand why they were there considering all the women were either housemaids, wives or priestesses to the great gods Baal and Astarte were he came from. He then spoke with one of his soldiers for several minutes and then the soldier ordered that another ship pull up beside the foreign ship. The trade ship pulled up and 6 slaves and 2 guards boarded the ship and walked to the foreign captain. The slaves then placed a chest on the deck of the ship and opened it. Inside where gems, diamonds and gold. Habbakal Lal then pointed at a pile of scrolls sitting on a table. He thought that if he could get some writen text of the people then he could return it to his country and perhaps some of the great minds of Opet could decipher it so the 2 nations could understand each other better.

Octovonia
20-07-2004, 22:00
The Republic of Octovonia is entering its 167th year of existence. Octovonia is a small northern country, with a climate similar to Alaska and North-Western British Colombia. A large majority of the population is white with smaller ethnicities formed by immigrants and refugees. Octovonia received its independance through non-violent means and a monarchy was established in the name of the original pursuer of independence, Sir John A. Octovon (who died soon after independance). The monarchs were both kind and merciful at first but soon grew to become feudal despots. A civil war erupted and the great General Sarko established the Republic of Octovonia. Replucanism ended nearly 123 years later with the establishment of the People's Republic of Octovonia, an iron-fisted socialist country who's hold on power ended only weeks ago. After the death of High Chairman Octo von Strausser, an open-minded former intelligence chief took power and instituted vast social reforms and a new form of government. The republic was born anew and a new colony established, but has been marred by foreign wars and arms-races.

Circa 300 A.D.

An armada of Roman ships lands on present day-Doomingsland. They claim the newly discovered land for Rome, and found two cities, Yippingsland and Doom. Doom is located 30 miles away from the largest mountain in the country, Mt. Doom. Yippingsland is located in the present day Hell Valley. The entire country is surrounded by mountains, and the coast is jagged, making it a natural fortress. A man by the name of Maximus Helldawg(believed to be the direct ancestor of the president) led a small band of men to Mt. Doom. What they find will change the course of the nations history...

IC:Back at the empire of Opet, the Gry-Lion sends out scouts in hopes of finding even more allies. The discovery of the people from across the great waters proved that the great gods Baal and Astarte had indeed blessed others with the ability to evolve. A scouting unit of 100 legionaires was exploring a mountain area and saw a couple of settlements.

Oysten's eyebrows raised a bit on seeing the contents of the chest. Though Callisdrunians were not generally concerned much with wealth, seing so much of it in one container did quite impress him. It appeared they would need to bring out the goods after all. He told the signal man to run up another flag, which he did. Shortly thereafter two large cargo ships made their way slowly up to where they were. One contained little aside from a solid column of Callisdrunian black marble, an extremely valuble material found only in the mountains of his home country. It was highly useful prized in Callisdrun and also in Rotenburg for the construction of temples. It alone was worth far more than the precious cargo of the other ship, which was mostly various precious stones. Rubies, Sapphires and Emeralds were in large bins in its hull. The rest of its cargo hold contained books of Callisdrun's legends and sagas as well as a sampling of some of the building plans for Callisdrun's architectural work. Stored very carefully, were various pieces of artwork of Callisdrunian origin.
The Captain of the ship containing the great marble column kept her mouth very firmly closed, as she was a vampire of the house of Sorvik, as unfortunately they had not succeded in finding anyone of the skill necessary to captain the cargo ship with its extremely heavy cargo without overturning the vessal.

Habbakal Lal watched as the ships pulled up, he saw the captain of one of the ships and noticed something strange, he assumed that it was a ritualistic thing. He then made a signal to the foreign captain to get his permission to board the other ships and see what they would be interested in trading for.

At Mt. Doom, Maximus walked to the foot of the mountain with his companions. There was a lake in front of the mountian, with a path of stone leading to the mountain.
"There's something evil about this mountain," he said to his companions.
They walked down the path to the mountain. There appeared to be an entrance of some sort, but it was blocked. At the top where words in anceint Latin.
"It appears we wheren't the first Romans here after all." He observed. The sign read "The Gates of Doom, only those brave enough to challenge the devil himself and take his power may enter."
"I'm brave enough!" one of his companions foolishly shouted. Sure enough, The rocks turned to fire and sucked the men in. A day later, Maximus returned to Doom City alone, his companions had dissapeared. The people of the city noted he had changed, his strength had increased ten-fold, and he was immune to fire and disease. However, he was now a very brutal man. When news of this reached Yippingsland, they grew jealous, and sought to take the mountain to make their army invincible...

Planks for boarding were lowered across the gap between the ships. Oysten made a gesture to indicate that the foreign captain was welcome to board either of the two cargo vessals. Their neighbors in the nation of Rotenburg had encountered latin-speaking peoples and so some Callisdrunians knew it.

Six months later, Yippingsland attacked. An army 10,000 strong layed siege to Doom, but was eventualy reppeled by the sheer ferocity of the defenders. A larger army was needed for Doom, and Maximus had a way to provide one. Every child over the age of 8 was trained in the art of warfare, and military sevice was cumpulsory. All of the previosly mentioned continues to this day. After 50 years, it was noted that Maximus was aging very slowly, and the Army of Doom had grown in size. So had that of Yippingsland. In A.D. 353, Yippingsland launched a surprise attack on the huge garrison at Mt. Doom, and there they fought the most vicious and bloody battle they had ever seen. Two armies, 20,000 strong each, fought to the death(that tradition also continues to this day). The only survivor of the battle being Maximus, himself. He had personaly taken 300 heads. After the battle, the small part of the army that had not participated in the battle marched on Yippingsland and took it without a fight; there were no men left, they had all been killed in the battle of Mt. Doom.

200 years later, Maximus died of old age, and the nation continued to advance through time.

The people of Opet knew how to speak latin also, the captain answered the officer "Yes, we all understand latin, with the exeption of the slaves of course. We will board the other ships and take what we want to trade for, then we can bargain." With that the captain moved passed the foreigners and boarded the ship with the marble. He picked 300pounds of the finest marble and signaled to his slaves to bring the marble to the ships deck to be set in front of the foreign captain. He then moved to the second ship. He found many large scrolls and asked some of the foreign crewman in latin what each was about. After ten minutes he chose 600 scrolls about various topics on the foreigners. The slaves then took the scrolls and put them next to the marble. Habbakal Lal then joined the foreign captain again and spoke in latin "We will take this for the terasure in the chest. If you do not agree, we have many other things to trade."

Oysten looked to his second in command, while she translated. He thought that the foreigners were getting a better deal than his people were, but he wasn't about to protest and upset the cordial nature of the encounter. Callisdrunian black marble was worth quite a lot, and the column in the Sorvik ship was probably worth as much as his entire fleet of longboats. No matter, there was more, and knowledge, after all, was priceless, and generosity was great among Callisdrunians. He signalled the stone cutters aboard the cargo ship to carve off 300 pounds of the most prized stone. He then spoke in Callisdrunian to his second in command, who then translated. "We agree, except that we would like to have some texts about your culture. If you happen to have any in latin, it would be nice, but if not, that's fine, too. We are the Callisdrunians of Drun (Northern Callisdrun) and (pointing to Oysten) I am Captain Oysten Bentesen, (the second in command pointed to herself) and I am second in command, Nina Forsel. After they had left Nina turned to Oysten. "Astarte and Baal?" she said ponderously
Oysten said "Of course they worship different gods than we do, or possibly the same gods by different names."

After the Opet ships were faraway, the Sorvik captain of one of the cargo ships finally opened her mouth, revealing her fangs, the reason she had kept it shut throughout the encounter. "They have to find out about us sometime, you know," she said. Oysten said in reply "Yes, but we shall let them wait until they come to Callisdrun itself before explaining your kind."

Ruthless Slaughter
21-07-2004, 00:27
Ruthless Slaughter started as a prison colony in the age of the Romans. Its name aptly described how the slavemasters treated the wrongfully accused prisoners. One day as the leader of the prisoners was getting whipped, he cried to the heavens,"ENOUGH!" and snapped the neck of his abuser. The prisoners quickly went into uprising and slaughtered the unprepared guards. Their riot continued to the dock where the hundreds of escapees stole the boats, wanting to be anywhere but there. At last they were free! They elected the starter of the riot, Julius Maximus, to lead them into their brave and desperate journey to the unknown. When they crossed a sea and hit land, They saw before them a wasteland, marked with smoke from some towns and a massive red mountain. The place stank of evil. Figuring it was better than prison, They founded the Dominion of Ruthless Slaughter... on an island not far from the shore. They figured that if the people there were hostile, they could at least see them onshore and escape. Little did they know that those people would become their greatest allies. (take it away, Doomingsland!)

Oysten lay in bed that night in his house pondering the strangeness of the Opet people. Of course, they probably thought his people just as strange. the Callisdrunians had thought that the Rotenburgers were weird when they first encountered each other, but that was nothing compared to this. He was slightly worried about what the Opet reaction would be when they first found out about the vampires. They were referred to in texts always as "Children of Ishtar" (though Ishtar was not Norse in origin, somehow she found her way into the Callisdrunian pantheon) and that would no doubt confuse them. He hoped they wouldn't do as the despised Altar Rangians had. Oysten looked at the woman who was soon to be his wife, asleep next to him in the bed, and for some reason couldn't think about the Opet anymore.

Life went on in Callisdrun, the perpetual night of winter caused by the planet's tilt and Callisdrun's northern location, and the near perpetual night of the summer caused by the constant thunderstorms. Callisdrun was a gloomy place, but its people liked it there. The government was pleased with the Opet gifts, although the vast amount of gold puzzled them. Gold was used sometimes in decoration sometimes in Callisdrun, but it was generally thought of as a pretty, but weak metal. Obviously it must be valuble to the people of Opet. Diamonds, though, were highly prized. The Opet treasure was mostly used to pay for several dozen new buildings, although quite a bit of it was kept in a newly constructed vault, in the knowledge that it would be seen as a historical artifact centuries later. Most anticipated that the Opet would come to Callisdrun proper soon. Scholars had studied the texts of the Opet, and they still seemed strange, though the Callisdrunians learned more of their culture. With less difficulty, the language the Opet used had been translated. Through all the peculiarities, there were some striking parallels between the two cultures. The Opet became one of the dominant subjects of discussion among scholars.

(OOC: Since we're at, I believe, 200 B.C. I'm going to RP to that point)

The earliest form of life on MuchBoards was a peculiar humanoid creature. It looked like a normal human, but the head was comprised of what appears to be a spherical shape with a rectangular plank on the front on which the word "MUCH" was emblazoned onto it. It is dated to 1500 B.C. and is currently in the Roman History Museum in Rome.

Rome (OOC: my nation of RomeW) was founded on MuchBoards in 396 B.C. by some really errant Roman ships of various functions. When they stumbled upon the new landmass, they decided to claim the land as "Roman", but due to the proximity from the Rome they had departed from, this would turn out to be a new Rome. The city was founded up from the central coast of MuchBoards.

Over the next two hundred years, the Romans fought with various tribes to secure their area of the region. By 200 B.C., the Romans were preparing to fight the tribes of Zaman, who had just laid siege to Rome the previous summer. Zaman had posed the last threat to Roman soverignty in central MuchBoards, and had to be stamped out.

This would not be an easy campaign. The tribes languished mainly in the jungle, making Rome's open-field army practically useless. So the Roman General, Decidus, decided he was going to burn the jungle in the hopes of devastating the tribes to the point where they would have to fight Rome on Roman terms.

The plan worked. Within days, the area of the Zaman tribes was burned to a crisp, forcing the clan to open-field warfare. There the tribes were obliterated, with the large Roman army needing just mere minutes to defeat the tribes. After this point, Rome was able to secure itself within central MuchBoards, and was now looking even more formidable with each passing day.

In the citadel of Yippingsland, the enemy king was trapped. Although the city had been taken and was in the process of being razed to the ground, Maximus still wanted to be sure this would be the last war with Yippingsland. He and a squad of Doom Legionairs breached the dorr into the room where the king lay in wait. The king had his sword drawn, and quickly cut down to soldiers. Maximus shoved his comrades out of the way and charged at the king. Maximus was impaled, and his men looked at what was happening with emotionless faces. They knew their lord could not be killed. Maximus feigned death, and the king pulled the sword out. Maximus looked up grinning at the king, and lobbed his head off. The wound inflicted by the sword had regenerated as soon as the king pulled it out. Maximus picked up the head off his fallen enemy, and walked out of the citadel. Their was a pike in the ground in front of the collapsed gates, and Maximus stuck the head on it. As his soldiers carried the valuables and women out of the city, and sewed the field with salt, Maximus saw a group of foreigners aproaching. Just then the last building in the city colapsed.

The Callisdrunians went on building things, mainly temples and government buildings. In Drun, a large library was built onto Drun Castle. Most of the Fjords were by now quite fortified, as during their wars against each other and the Altar Rangians, attacking by water had been favored. Castles dotted the mountains along the eastern frontier, largest being the Castle at Mt. Agaden, which happened to be Callisdrun's tallest mountain. The cities of Drun and Callisdrin continued to vy for power, Drun now having an advantage because of the influx of wealth.

The Sorvik clan was sending out a raiding fleet, intending to prey on the fat merchant ships of Altar Rang. The Sorviks kept their ships in good repair, and all flew the family flag of the house of Sorvik, a black banner with a black axe outlined in red crossed with a heavily thorned rose. All ships carried various small siege equipment on their bows and extra crew members to take the Altar Rang vessals (which were always underprotected). All were crammed full of stores for a long voyage. The ships were nearing the opening of Drunfjord, close to entering the ocean. They saw several trade ships carrying goods to other parts of Callisdrun.

This was one of those rare times when all the various Callisdrunian lands were at peace with each other, so all prospered, though Callisdrin was quite obviously jealous of Drun's newfound wealth.

OOC: Well, certainly it would be exiting, but the major problem is that it does not at all fit with the Sorviks' temperment, there's no reason for them to attack an Opet ship. Now, fjords are very narrow, so each set of ships would get a good look at the people on the other set, and the Opet would probably notice that there was something strange about the Sorvik ships' crew members, most notably the fact that they have fangs. I also need to keep the Sorvik clan largely intact because they figure in to events in major ways around the year equivalents of 800, 1250, 1925 and 2010.
Now, I don't mind if other people have my characters and such do minor things, but an unwarranted attack is a different thing entirely. All I'm saying is that an attack by the Sorvik longboats would not have happened.

The Sorvik ships started to pass the Opet ships (they had been informed as to what Opet ships looked like when Oysten had gotten back) and eyed them warily. The captain of the lead ship was none other than Erzsebet Sorvik (OOC: I also have a character in modern times named Erzsebet Sorvik), who had seen them earlier when she had piloted the cargo vessal that contained the marble. Her first mate broke the eery silence. "You were right," he said. "They do look very strange. They should dress warmer." Erzsebet lauged and raised her hand in greeting to the Opet ships, still grinning from her first mate's comment, her fangs gleaming in the dim light. One of the crew members started singing a funny song as another played a flute, and the others laughed as they they joined in, everyone either singing, laughing, or grinning. It would be no use trying to hide Callisdrun's dark secret now.

It was starting to rain, but that was no surprise. Storm clouds filled the sky for most of the Callisdrunian summer, and it rained almost every day. Though it was perfectly hospitable compared to Callisdrun's winter, it was still quite cold. People in outlying houses near the opening of the fjord came outside to see the strange ships from Opet. Several smiled and waved, others just stared, their curiousity obvious.

The captain then asked a nerby person about where the leader of their civilization was and then started marching towards the castle, leaving only 30 legionaires to guard the ships.

When asked for directions as to the residence of the leader of the city, citizens simply pointed up at the rather large castle on the slope of one of the tallest of the mountains overlooking Drun. They took special care to make sure the Opet did not confuse it with the foreboding castle in the hills on the other side of the city. The shortest route was along the bustling main street and then through the city square. The city square was really more rectangular in shape, and was the location of most of Drun's large temples and several government buildings. From there a winding road led straight to Drun Castle, residence of the royal family.

By the middle ages, the people of Doom had become large, muscular, hardened people with much resiliance to extreme temperature. The Kingdom of Doom now spread through a large expanse surrounded by mountains. Weapons had evolved as well, and the Doom Legion, as it was called, now used pikes and specialy designed curved swords that were especialy good at cutting. The trade between Opet and Doom was very prosperus, making the two knigdoms very wealthy. By now, the Doom Legion grew curious about the people living on the island of the coast of their kingdom...

Two guards came up to them as the huge iron gates closed behind them. One spoke in Latin "We and our comrades are here to escort you to the great hall. Queen Anna is currently at worship, although she should be done within 10 minutes." They then led the Opet soldiers to the great hall, which, like all Callisdrunian rooms was dimly lit. It was large, with runic engravings covering the walls and the floor was inlaid with several kinds of marble. A fire blazed one of the four hearths. A great oak throne was at one end, higher than the rest of the hall.

Queen Anna then entered from a small side door with two men close by. The Queen was tall, unusual for northern Callisdrunian women, but like most of the others she was quite pale with very dark brown hair. She wore a simple red dress with half sleeves and her crown was made also simple, a ring with four vertical spikes rising from it, one in front, one in back, and two on the side, made of iron with a ruby in the in the front Seeing the visitors she walked over to them. She greeted the visitors in Latin. "I am Queen Anna of Drun and the surrounding areas of Callisdrun." Pointing toward the man on the right, she said "This is my younger brother, Prince Bjorn." She then gestured to the man on the left. "And this is my... advisor... Tyr Aydinmark." Pausing a moment to observe the visitors, she said "I see you are from Opet. Please introduce yourself. And what tidings do you bring?"

Over the years, The Dominion grew in population and skill in economics and combat. Their swords were microscopically thin and when not used in combat training, was found to be better than any ax at lumber harvesting. The island was now surrounded by high stone walls seemingly part of the island itself and Fort Destiny was the great citadel at its center. It had been many years since they even thought about the natives on the mainland and sent out an expeditionary force to meet these people and hopefully befriend them, as their resource piles were slowly shrinking. The explorers were shocked to see that an expeditionary force from the natives, who appeared just as advanced but much more hearty and muscular-looking were readying to visit them on the mainland's shore.

"I am Habbakal Lal, and this is the 9th Legion of Opet. We come with word of the Gry-Lion Lannan Hycannus. He brings word that we have discouvered a new civilization who are as advanced as ourselves. They can be found in a mountain range to the east of Opet............you did look over the maps we gave you? Also, why do some of your people have long pointed teeth? Is it some kind of ritualistic thing?

At Opet

"My lord!" A servant rushed into the Gry-Lions throne room, "We have recieved word that the people of Doom have discovered a new civilization. I believe it deserves our attention." "New civilization?" Lannon said exitedly, "Send the 4th, 8th and 3rd Legions to Doom so we can meet these new people."

Miles away, an Opet scientist was working with different types of sand in the Hills of Blood. He came across a new type of powder and did many experiments on it. When he added fire to the powder it exploded. The man was startled at the explosion.

Queen Anna decided to answer Habbakal Lal's last question first, as it was necessary to explain them sometime, and now might as well be that time. "No, it is not a ritualistic thing. They are members of the Sorvik clan, who are one among several clans of a rather odd minority in this land. In the books we gave you, they are referred to as Children of Ishtar, but they have a shorter name for their kind. Habbakal Lal, have you ever heard of vampires?" The last word was intentionally stressed.

Responding to his other questions, Queen Anna replied that "Yes, we have studied the maps. We would like to know more about this new civilization though."

Queen Anna thought about this for a moment. She hadn't counted on them not knowing what vampires were. The Rotenburgers had known them as a mythical terror before formal contact had been established. The Altar Rangians had heard the word and knew what it meant, and had promptly declared that Callisdrun needed to be cleansed upon learning of the existance of such creatures in Callisdrun. "They have some peculiarities about them that have proved problematic in the past. We don't know exactly how they came about, but they've been here for a long time. In most respects they are just like other Callisdrunians. However, their fangs belie the key difference. Vampires, to survive, periodically must consume human blood. They generally do this by biting. There are some other minor traits of theirs that I could tell you about, but most of those are just traits normal for Callisdrunians, but amplified. There are two important clans of them in Drun, the Sorviks and the Novikas family. The Sorviks have just sent out a raiding party. They are feared by most people, including myself, but I must admit, many of those temples in the city square could not have been built without their financial help. It is a tenuous co-existance." She paused for a bit to contemplate.

Tyr then spoke up. "Are these people in the city of Doom friendly, or do they tend to be hostile? If the former, perhaps they would be interested in trade. If the latter, we'd probably like to avoid them."

"I'd estimate that about fifteen out of every hundred Callisdrunians are vampires. There slightly more up here than there are down south in Callisdrin. The Novikas family lives closer to the entrance of the fjord. when you go down the hill, you'll see a smaller castle on the other side of the city. That's where the Sorvik family lives. I was terrified of them growing up, but I've met with both families since becoming queen, and I have to say that they aren't nearly as frightening as I thought." She paused a bit, before saying "Leaving so soon? That's too bad. May you have calm seas on your journey."

Our history starts in August 1978 when hundreds of Anti-Government demonstrators took up arms and took over many governmental facilities killling at least 500 people in the process. This plunged "Mexico" into a civil war. After many years of civil war the Anti-Governmental mexicans finally won the civil war. A new government was set up and the country was renamed to Estados Unidos Mexican and not long after the economy of Estados Unidos Mexican was very strong. From 1983 till 1997 Estados Unidos Mexican was a peaceful nation then when President K.W Wung was mudered whilst on a tour throughout Estados Unidos Mexican the government was quick to blame it on the nationalists and other resistince organizations. This brought about a small dispute but no pysical contact between either side. Then a week ago Estados Unidos Mexican was plunged into another civil war. Maximus invited the legion commanders to the feast so that they personally can meet with the new civilization.
When the leader of RS arived, he was escorted to Doom, a massive, evil looking city built around an extremely tall citidel known as the Citidel of Doom. It was a large, evil looking stucture with spires sticking out of it (think Barad-ur from Lord of the Rings). The guests where lead up a great staircase up several floors into the feast room, which was a dimly lit room decorated with the skulls of vanquished enemies. Maximus was sitting at the head of the great table, facing the door. There was a balcony overlooking Doom Square. He as a large, muscular man, at least seven feet tall when standing. He gave the new comers the usual emotionless stare. Then he smiled and spoke.
"Greetings friends. We are gathered here to welcome our newest friend, the people of Ruthless Slaughter." said Maximus. He motioned for the people to go over to the balcony. "Behold, the Doom Legion." There was a massive military parade, the pikes of the soldiers like a forest, their black armor glistening in the sun. They marched out of the gates of the city.
"That army is 300,000 strong. They are on their way to vanquish the final barbarian stronghold, after it is gone, all the land within the mountains will be under my control. After the feast, if you wish, we may witness the sacking of that stronghold. Now, back to buissiness. We must tell our new friend of our history." Maximus then explained the history of Doom to the leader of RS.

Viktor Sorvik looked down toward the docks from a tower in the Sorvik castle. "Hey ho, what's this?" he said as he observed the off-loading of the Opet military units. "Honey... you'd better come see this." Isha Sorvik came and looked over the ramparts.

"We'd better notify the queen," they said in unison. Viktor quickly penned a note to Queen Anna and had his nephew deliver it. The appearence of thousands of foreign troops on the docks was deeply troubling to him. It started to rain. Icy sheets of water fell from the heavens, and it was dark as night. The sorvik family pet, a she-wolf, came to Viktor and Isha's side.

The Queen Anna and her husband, Tyr, were greatly enjoying each other's company when the message arrived. The guard at first was reluctant to disturb them, but the vampire boy told him it was urgent and so he knocked on the door and said as much. Queen Anna was greatly displeased and put on a light robe to cover herself. In a very annoyed tone of voice she said "What's the matter?"

The guard handed her the note and she read it. She was even more displeased. She went back to her room to get properly dressed. "Why would there be thousands of Opet troops on the docks?"

Tyr contemplated. "Perhaps they intend to capture our city, or force us to sign some less than advantageous agreement with them. It might just be a demonstration to show us their might."

Queen Anna chuckled. "An army is worth more when it can't be seen. Perhaps they are here for peaceful purposes, but then what could they possibly do with several thousand troops that they couldnt' do with several dozen?"

She finally left her chamber and found a messanger. "Tell them to send their leader to the gate of the castle, with a small escort if he likes, to conduct business and explain why there are several thousand Opet troops on Drun's docks. Oh, and make sure he knows our definition of a small escort. And tell him that the small army they've brought is to remain on the docks until it is explained to me why they are here." The messanger then left and crossed the city to the docks in several minutes.

Queen Anna was concerned, but not worried. Drun's definiton of a small escort, for diplomatic purposes, was one that could fit the waiting room of Drun castle, and that room was quite small.

Though it is only about 1,000, we are hardened fighters and have ultimately mastered the art of the sword. Which brings me to my proposition. While our stockpile of masterfully built swords grow, our resource piles shrink. We could send you these swords in exchange for resources. It would promote good trade to other lands, and in return we'll give you a 50% cut of the profits and goods we get. You are free to have whatever policy you like in your land, but do not try enacting it on mine." Again, the Queen was all business, not showing any hint of emotion. "On the contrary, commander, I am merely trying to talk you out of committing an act of war, as that is what your intentions seem to be. You seem to be eager to murder several thousand men, women and children, yes, children, who have done nothing to any citizen of Opet. And why? For a trait, or even worse: because you were told to." The Queen was stern, but still not visibly excited. "Now, I offer you two choices. You may return to your men, I am not holding you as a prisoner. Or you may stay and negotiate. I will tell you, however, that if you choose to follow through with your plans of murdering my subjects, then many children in both Opet and Callisdrun will soon be orphans." She paused while the gates opened. "I hope we can settle this diplomatically, so that doesn't happen."

The army was silently being raised, even the rival city of Callisdrin had ordered its army to be mobilized to come to Drun's aid.

OOC:BTW, as I've said, the vamps have to survive, because otherwise I'd have to change too many things in my modern RP's. So basically, either your guys have to change their minds, lose, or Callisdrun and Opet fight each other to a standstill.

"I would not necessarily call them friends any more than any other of my subjects, if those are the terms by which violence may be avoided, very well." The queen was somewhat relieved, though she still gave no hint of her emotions. "I really am not trying to cause a crisis, but I doubt that your leader would be pleased if I sent ten thousand troops and told him that my high priests had said that fifteen out of every hundred of his subjects were to be eradicated. You must understand, that everything I do is recorded. I may either be remembered as a queen who opened relations with many new nations, as a queen who could not avert a war, or a queen who let fifteen percent of her subjects be slaughtered. I'm sure you know which choice is the better. I still do not see why your priests are so paranoid about these certain subjects of mine, but that does not matter. Though it puts a bit of a barrier on trade, your wish that no children of Ishtar enter Opet shall be granted. The second one is harder. We will let it be known to the vampires that they are not to talk to people of Opet, however, if your citizens enter this land, they will occasionally see them. This is unavoidable. Your ships may once in a while see operated by vampires on the high seas. By the time this happens, which it unavoidably will, they will know not to make contact. I was already scheduled to meet with the house of Sorvik for dinner tonight. I will tell them, or you may accompany me if you wish to tell them yourself. I have meetings with the other clans soon as well, and a general announcement will be made. When you return to Opet, I wish for you to tell your leader that I would prefer that he not send large armies like this to my city. Having a foreign army this size in my city rather displeases me for several reasons. It makes my subjects nervous, there is not enough food for a sudden influx of people, and there is no shelter for them. If your Gry-Lion wants to establish permanent representation here, then a small number of soldiers would be allowed to guard the facility. If it would make trade easier, he may also purchase a dock." The queen felt it wise to conclude on the subject of trade.

Knut and Frigg replied at once. "Yes" they said in a very exhausted sort of way. In the first such collaboration of its kind in Callisdrun, both Callisdrin and Drun had ordered their captains not to try to pull the usual one-upmanship while negotiating. "May we sit down?" Knut said.

Frigg and Knut sat down. "Oh, boar! Splendid! I wasn't expecting something so familiar," Knut said. (OOC: wild boar is a common dish in Callisdrun). Frigg talked between bites. "Yes, that does sound appealing. There might be a few issues, but I'm sure we can get something hammered out that will be beneficial to all." Frigg was going to do most of the negotiating, since she was from Drun, and Knut and his half of the crew had been lucky to get invited, as their native city/state of Callisdrin had done hardly any of the initial exploring/contact making.

Article Two-If a signatory is attacked, the other signatories must come to their aid.

"That sounds good for starters," Knut said. Frigg looked slightly uncomfortable. She then whispered in Knut's ear "Do you think we should bring up the subject of our best fighters, the vampires, considering the fact that the Sorviks lent us one of their ships for this mission?" Knut looked contemplative for a moment. "Maybe we should wait to see if someone else brings up that issue. I like what they've proposed so far." Frigg nodded and said to the Doom representative. "Yes, that sounds entirely sensible."

"We would send quadruple that amount." said Maximus in a serious tone. "Just understand that none of your troops would be needed in the upcoming battle."

"My friend, what I meant was that immeadiatly we could send 1000, if you needed more, then we could mobalize more of our legions to assist. Plus, if I'm not being to intrusive, what upcoming battle do you speak of?" said the Gry-Lion. Then he added, "And we also agree with your terms for the alliance."

IC: Frigg spoke up. "Um, we don't have a problem with the terms of the alliance, but... you should know what you're agreeing to. On our way here, we heard about a minor disagreement between Opet and the city of Drun over some of Drun's citizens. These citizens are Callisdrun's best warriors, and so, upon the terms of this agreement, there may come a time when Opet's soldiers must fight side by side with Callisdrunian subjects whom we call the Children of Ishtar. I'm not trying to be pessimistic, just ensuring that all parties involved will not object and withdraw from their treaty obligations when one of our nations is in a time of need."

Knut then added, cheerfully, "That is our only concern. If agreed upon, this treaty will certainly be good for all our countries."

"My lord! You are just in time to witness our new weapon."
"Excelent! Fire on my orders!"

Maximus rode to the front of his men, they would be engaging in battle soon. He was in front of the mightiest army in the region, 300,000 of the toughest men, trained for war since they were children.
"FIRE AT WILL!"
The catapults lobbed huge bags at the walls. They landed on or in front of the walls.
BLAM
The walls came crashing down from the force of the explosions. They had just demonstrated the military applications for gunpowder.
"CHARGE!"
The swarm of elite soldiers ran in perfect formation to the walls. The barbarians were to shocked to fight effectivly. The men advanced in tortise formation, making them invulnerable to arrows. Maximus being the only one not protected. The enemy was about to find out why. An arrow struck him in the shoulder, he ripped it out, and continued without any sighn of pain. When the main body got within the walls, they broke into groups of ten and began pillaging and slaughtering. Maximus and his personal gaurd marched up to the door of the citidel. It was a large door made from oak, Maximus kicked it down as if it were made from plywood. They advanced up the stairs to the personal quarters of the king. Maximus entered alone. As soon as he kicked the door down, he had an arrow sticking outof his chest. This man was not worth killing with his mighty sword as his men were. Maximus walked up to him, picked him up by this head, and crushed his skull. After he was dead, Maximus severed the head, and placed it upon a pike. After exiting the building, a soldier reported that 50 men had been lost. Pretty good considering the barbarians had 5000 in the city. It was all thanks to the elite warriors of Doom. The men spared no one, and leveled the city with powder kegs. They marched out of the city triumphant, as always, with the heads of those who resisted upon the pikes of 2000 men. The head of the king would find its final resting place in the hall where the feast had been held earlier that day.

The year was 1729, Maximus the forth had recently been killed in an assasination. The only way to kill somone from the Helldawg bloodline, it turns out, was to decapitate him.
There were no known heirs to the thrown, and the people of the recently renamed Doomingsland decided to vote on their new leader.
So began the Allied States of Doomingsland.

The army had become massive, the training much more difficult than any European army. The nation had also converted to Christianity before the death of Maximus II. They used a homegrown fighting doctrine that was squad based. The military still used the black uniforms that they always had, and were excellet night fighters, nearly undetectable to an opposing army.

The Dominion had grown immensely. The port now took up a good part of the coast, and they had used their profits to develope carbines and revolvers. Most of their men if not mercahnts or civil workers (police, fire dept., etc.) were soldiers. (carbines and revolvers were around during the Civil War, the U.S. just didn't have enough to mass produce them) The defenses were said to be impenetrable. Their latest flag was two rifles crossed together on a blood red background. Their leader was of the only royal line they knew: R.L.V whose descendants still rule to this day. By now he had developed a senate, who placed a lot of faith in. It was an economic and militaristic utopia.

Ruthless Slaughter was once again becoming overpopulated. Space was disappearing rather quickly. Despite this, the military was prospering, developing new semi-automatic weapons and quickly discovered that by making modifications, could make them automatic. On the island, there was something that was secretely being mass produced in caverns. It was called a tank. (just think prototype M1 Abrams) There was nearly a thousand on boats ready to be mobilized at a moment's notice. Lightly armored fighter aircraft and small battleships were coming from factories and shipyards. Once again, R.L.X (the tenth) came before the leader of Doomingsland.

R.L.: *clears throat* I am sorry for the interruption of- *looks at the many skulls adorning the walls* whatever it was you were doing, but we need more land. There is hardly room to breathe, or create a military capable of defending ourselves, letalone the Alliance. If it isn't too much troulble, we require a considerable amount of land, and there are many unclaimed territories almost adjacent to my country. If you could give us some of your land, and we would then expand into the territories. That way, we would not need room for years to come.

He then broadcast to the nation that the rightful ruler of Doomingsland had been installed as president, and communism was forever banished. In the late 700's, relations between Callisdrin and Drun detereorated and they fought. However, eventually a King of Drun rose to power who had vision. Previously, the vampire clans had been somewhat eery ganglike entities who were tolerated because of their abilites in defense. This king, named Haakon, saw their potential offensive power. Early in his reign, he and the clans set a new level of cooperation. Previously exclusively guarded by the clans, high quality steel now gave all of Drun's armies an edge in equipment, and the vampires ferocity became a reliable tool of the military during wartime. The Sorviks soon became well known for their military prowess, and people soon were able to recognize their black axe in battle. Drun now possessed the advantage and swallowed up the smaller kingdoms remaining around it. Haakon wanted a unified Callisdrun. Many in Drun's rival city, Callisdrin, also wanted this. Civil war broke out in Callisdrin's lands, with Drun helping the pro-unification forces. The allies of the two cities generally stayed out of the conflict, for they were mostly allied with both cities. The two siblings of Callisdrin's royal family fought on different sides after the old king had suffered a heart attack, the older daughter on the pro unification side.

Eventually the war ended. There was much devastation, especially in southern Callisdrun, where Callisdrin was. To ensure a lasting unity, and also because they had been having an affair, King Haakon of Drun and Queen Eva married. King Haakon of Drun became King Haakon I (also King Haakon the Great) of Callisdrun. As another measure to unify the country, Callisdrin was made the capitol city. The official constitution of the new nation was signed by the King and Queen and approved by the two parliaments (which then became one) on December first, 814. A series of amendments was quickly made. The first one dealt with freedom of speech and religion. The second, then quite controversial, was the brainchild of King Haakon, as a way to express gratitude to those whose early support had been essential to his vision. In the second amendment, Vampires were granted full rights of citizenship in Callisdrun, equal status to any other citizen. It also set up the donor system to replace the relatively harmless but disruptive attacks that vampires had to make to keep themselves alive.

OOC: more later, I've got two more big wars to cover.

The two big events that sort of define Callisdrun, and why the culture just permeates a sense of tragedy, are the 10 year war with Altar Rang (1253-1263) and the Great Northern War (1925-1937). The year was 1254. Callisdrun had been at war with Altar Rang for a year now. The main part of the Sorvik family had moved out to Istengrad to fight on the Agaden Plains. It was a dangerous place. Altar Rang's armies reached the city almost every day and Callisdrunian forces repelled them during the night. They had gotten farther today. Erzsebet had been at the armory trying to find suitable armor when she had heard that Altar Rangian troops had been in the area where her family was staying.

She rushed back to find several buildings burning. The Sorvik residence was still intact. However, the door was missing. Erzsebet ran in, yelling to see if anyone was home. There was blood on the floor, and several pieces of furniture were overturned. Erzsebet looked upstairs and found a scene that was horrible even to her eyes. Her father's corpse lay near the doorway, his hand still clutching the black axe of the Sorvik clan. Several spears were broken off in his body and there was a pool of blood beneath him. It was obvious that he had been stabbed several times with swords. Erzsebet choked back tears as she stepped by his body.

The inside of the room was worse. Her older brother was attached to the wall by a spear, his war hammer on the floor nearby. She looked left and saw her 8 year old brother, also lifeless. Then she looked towards the bed and the real horror struck her. On it lay the cold bodies of her 10 year old sister and her mother. Her mother still wore the upper part of her armor, but looking down, it was obvious that both mother and sister had been violently raped before their brutal murder. They were both covered in their own blood. As Erzsebet beheld the bodies of her sister and mother, defiled so violently, she finally broke down and fell to her knees sobbing.

"Is nothing sacred?" she cried to the sky. She moaned there for the better part of an hour, until the anger overcame the grief. She vowed vengeance, and as she left the room, she picked up the axe that was now hers to carry into battle.

OOC: to be continued.

So, isn't the Sorvik family vampires? Cause wouldn't they be able to kill the invaders because of their inhuman abilities?

OOC: Yes, they are vampires, but so that I would be allowed to participate in more than just fantasy RP's, their abilities are toned down a bit. They do not live forever, though they live for a long time (almost always upwards of 90 years if healthy) and don't really age much, but they can be killed like any other person. They are a bit more 'durable' if you want to call it that, they rarely get sick, are immune to most poisons, and their bodies can take quite a lot of punishment. But like any other person, catastrophic damage to one of the central organs will kill them. They are usually much stronger than they look, and very agile, and intelligent, and make excellent soldiers. Usually, they make good military leaders as well. They do drink blood, although they need far less to survive than the usual conception of vampires. They do have sharp fangs, but someone will not turn into a vampire simply by being bitten. They are said to make good lovers, however, most parents disapprove of their children being with one because a child of a vampire and a human will usually turn out to be a vampire.
They have several weaknesses however. Most Callisdrunians are easily sunburned, and have sensitive eyes, but vampires are extreme in this. This does not mean, however, that they cannot go out in the sun. They just need sunglasses and sunblock. lots of it. They are also prone to several mental problems, and a female vampire's reproductive system is very prone to damage. Though they cannot be addicted to most drugs, it is found that they can be easily addicted to caffiene and actually even addicted to chocolate.
