Background Information of the Shogun
The Shogun’s true name is Wen Zhong. He was born in a small town called Little China, within the Green District of Euroslavia. Born into poverty, his parents struggled to bring in enough money to support their family of 5. An unfortunate incident left the family split. Wen’s parents abandoned him and his younger brother, and older sister, in a town 25 miles from Little China. The name of the town was called Suvorov. For the first few years, all three of the children lived on the streets as beggars, and would occasionally go without food and water for days at a time. That is, until the children were split.

One day, Wen’s younger brother, Ming disappeared. It was suspected that he was either kidnapped, or adopted on the spot by a generous family. No one knows the truth. Wen and his older sister, Lena, continued to struggle to survive on the streets for another year. By this time, Wen was 12 and Lena was 15. Luckily, Wen and Lena found a rescue center for homeless children, and within a matter of weeks, both were adopted, but unfortunately, to different families. Wen and Lena were then split apart. Wen joined a Euroslavic family in the city of Arcadia, and Lena was adopted by a family in Za-Breg. Wen was given the proper amount of education with the basic studies, as his dad was a professor in Za-Breg University.

Wen grew an interest in foreign relations and geography. By the time he was 15, he knew almost everything there was to know about geography. He knew the capitals of each nation, the physical geography of each nation, such as rivers, mountains, plateaus, etc. Wen also grew an interest in a few specific countries. At this time, he noticed the rise of a man called Damien in the nation of Automagfreek. He admired his ability to outmaneuver any other strategist in practically the entire world. Militarily, Damien had one of the strongest nations in the world too. Wen worked his best to read as much as he could, about the strategies of other nations. Other nations that came into importance for Wen were Pantera, Iron Blood (formerly Dark Terror), Melkor Unchained, Super American VX Man, Artista, and Menelmacar. Each nation had something about them that, as you could say, cause a twinkle in Wen’s eyes. At that moment, he knew exactly what he wanted to be. Wen wondered exactly why his role model was Damien. What was it about him that made him such a person to look up to? He wasn’t exactly sure, but there was just something about him that created Wen’s interest in all things that have to do with foreign relations.

One event that changed his life forever was him running away from home. He grew tired of life with his adopted parents, even though he was treated quite well. His curiousity ended up getting the best of him. He wanted to find his sister, and his brother, and go back to his parents to help them. He ended up getting lost in Arcadia though, and ran into the woman who would have the most influence on him in his entire life, besides his sister. The all-knowing seer, at that time, held a small shop in downtown Arcadia. He walked into this shop, desperate for food and water. Just as he walked into the curtains, he passed out. All he could remember was an older lady, probably in her late 30’s, early 40’s, sitting there, smiling at him. It was as if she already knew of his fate.

He regained consciousness the next morning at the lady’s house. She had brought him back with her, to her house, a few blocks down from the shop and cared for him. When he woke up, it was around 7am, and the lady was sitting right across from his bed with food and water. He quickly ate the food, and drank the water, although, he got a stomach ache from eating it too fast.

“Thank you for taking care of me ma’am.” Said Wen, as he finished stuffing his face.

“Anytime kiddo. Say, is your name by any chance…Wen?”

At that moment, there was silence.

How did she know my name? he thought. Is she my mom? No, she can’t be….she’s probably too young for that. Sister said that she looked very old. But how did she know what my name was?

“You’re probably wondering why I know your name. You must not have realized what kind of shop you walked into. I am a psychic. I own a store in which I tell other people their fortunes. As you probably guessed, there’s something about you that I’m particularly interested in. Your future. You have much knowledge, young one, and I can help you achieve your greatest dreams. As long as you stick by me, they will come true.”

“What do you mean?” replied Wen in confusion. “I don’t understand. Do you know my future?”

“Of course I do, and you have a lot in store for you. Let’s just say that your dream of becoming just like your role model…Damien…..will come true.”

There was another silence.

How did she know that?!? No one knew that. There’s something strange about this lady. I just….don’t believe it.

“Yes, I know, all of this is coming to you so quickly. It’s probably hard to understand. But you must believe me. You will become leader of Euroslavia. The war against Goldana and Ulan Baator is going to get even more heated, and after the war ends, there will be a time of isolation, as Euroslavia rebuilds itself. At this time, there will be a huge transformation in its political stance, and the government itself will change. This is where you come in. By the time this comes to pass, the country will look all over for scholars in geography, military history, foreign politics, and world affairs. Few men will be chosen, but you….you will surpass all of them in knowledge. You will defeat them and become the next leader of Euroslavia. You must listen to me when I say these things. I have never felt stronger about something in my entire life, and that means a lot because I have done many prophecies in my day.”

This all came to Wen as a shock, but somehow, he came to believe it. His new ‘mother’ brought home a decent amount of money, and whatever she had left over, she bought more books, and tapes for Wen to study. He grew to the age of 24, when things began to change. Things started to come true, slowly. The war between Euroslavia, and Goldana and Ulan Baator came to an end, with a victory for Euroslavia, although, the nation was devastated by the constant bombings of the enemy. Luckily, no weapons of mass destruction were used. The current capital of Euroslavia, Za-Breg, fell into anarchy, and soon after order was restored, it was decided that Arcadia would become the new capital. The current President, Jeremy Blossom, descended the nation into complete isolation from the rest of the world, and resigned as the leader.

At this time, government officials looked all over Euroslavia for the few, intelligent men, that could serve the nation their best. Wen went to a political convention, along with his ‘mother’, at the capital, only to be discovered by a Senator. They had a short, but detailed discussion on the current events in the world. The Senator was extremely impressed with which Wen discussed current events, and at such an ease, as if he had visited every nation, and talked to everyone there. This Senator just happened to be quite important and influential at the time, and he brought Wen, and a few other men who were brought to their attention, in front of the other government officials to discuss certain matters.

After a long debate of what stance Euroslavia should take when emerging out of the shadows, Wen’s idea was taken to heart. The nation would become anti-war, as in, they would not be involved in any sort of war that it should not be involved in. They would also do more of a role to halt war across the world through diplomacy. They would take on more of an ‘Eastern’ society. It would still remain a democracy though, to some extent. After the last vote of the Senators, Wen was narrowly put in charge, instead of a rival, who was a radical Communist.

Wen became the first Shogun of the Second Age of the Shogunate of Euroslavia. Everything had come true. But there was still more to come. Wen wanted to find his sister, his brother, and his parents. He longed to be united with his real family, although, his current ‘mother’ and him were very close. Wen took his ‘mother’ back to the palace that he would be living in, and let her choose a special room, in a hallway that not even the guards knew about. There, she remains, telling Wen of his future endeavours.
