OOC: Long time no see Weyr.

IC: Glad to see you military is updating, especially after the Gramal/Weyr Conflict. If that didnt show that the High Guard needed to bolster their forces i dont know what will.

OOC: Yeah. I'm treating the Gramal-Weyr conflict as a basic reason to get involved in world politics. Hopefully this isn't too power-gamery . . .
------------------------------

We've chosen to follow the hedgehog model and make ourselves so impractical to attack that most people will hopefully stay away. Thirty years of no new acquisitions and careful investment into major Weyrean industries has provided the hundreds of billions in funding. Of course, the High Council was very obliging after it considered the recent troubles in Southport, and decided to place more funds into the military.

Brief descriptions:

The Mark III MBT is a product of the Integrated Automotive Consortium [also known as Integrated Auto]. Successful combat tests have been run earlier this year, where the Mark III has performed 'beyond expectations', according to High Guard officials at the scene.

With an integrated BAT-cell system, the Mark III is nearly impervious to EMP weaponry. However, it is also subject to 'net hacking, although this is countered by 'net hardening.

The Katrina is expected to provide protection against low-level aircraft and missiles. It is capable of tracking up to 12 simultaneous targets, and can fire while on the move, making it much more potent than the aging Katya system.

It can ford up to 1.75 meters of water.

Reload time after firing is 8 minutes, due to highly efficient design.

A Katrina battery typically includes six launchers, a command/radar center, and a transloader.

The Phoenix missile is a 60kg missile with a 16kg fragmentation warhead.

The warhead includes a radar/infrared/optical guidance package that can act independently of the Katrina array. The warhead can also adapt to varying targets, including ICBMs, cruise missiles, jet aircraft, and helicopters.

The Ivanova APC is based on the successful BTR-90, albeit with several modifications. It is designed to carry soldiers into combat, to provide fire support, and to participate in scouting missions, although the last task is now being transferred to the Dragoon system.

The Stryker helo is produced by General Aviation Corp. It is a high performance combat helicopter with day and night capability, high survivability and fire power to defeat air targets and heavily armoured tanks armed with air defence weapons.

The coaxial rotor allows the Stryker to have a much greater agility and hover cieling than traditional configurations. The main rotor blade is designed to take multiple hits from automatic weapons without suffering major damage.

The Stryker cockpit is armored against 30mm fire and fragments. A revolutionary ejection system allows the single pilot to bail out in case of emergency from virtually any altitude.

The Sundancer is expected to function alongside the Katrina. it is designed to take out targets such as missiles, high-altitude aircraft, and other offensive equipment.

A Sundancer missile battery typically includes four or eight launch vehicles with six ready-to-fire missiles, a mobile control center, a communications center, a fire control center, and a mobile radar array. Weyr has purchased 40 batteries.

ooc: looks like you have some prime equipment to buy Weyr. its good that the Gramal/Weyr conflict opened your eyes to better defense. btw are we ever gonna end those peace talks? my governor general needs to get back home by the end of next month (thats when his election campaign begins). anyway if you need any help finding storefronts to buy stuff just tg me.

[OOC - Weyr, just curious, would you be interested in an alliance. I noticed you usually support the same things I do. If so, please TG me, as I will not be on the forums much as I will be on vacation. Thanks.]

I'm just waiting for it to become official. Technically Weyr has already signed the whole treaty piece by piece. Gramal is prolly not going to be able to officially sign it [[he contacted me via TG some time ago]], so I'm just assuming that he did sign it at the end of the whole thing.

I've RP-ed the Mark III development about two months ago, and everything else pretty much exists RL, except for the Stryker and the Dragoon. The trouble withy buying stuff in a storefront is that I'd then just disassemble the stuff I bought and copy the design to suit Weyrean tech, and that would cause all sorts of problems . . .

Grenval: check your TG's

@FCV: Go update on RPW

Oh, yeah, for those who are wondering, this equipment doesn't work very well outside of the Weyrik Alliance nations since the 'net intelligence AI goes completely to pot once it's off the full 'net.
