Plastic hanguns - Easy to make, cheap & deadly

People around the world, today a whole new breed of handguns has been developed. We have been thinking about weapons who need to be smuggled easy into airplanes for eh... special operations and today we have accomplished that. In specially made molds for the weapons a high grade and virtually indestructible plastic (OOC: yes, it is. I've worked 6 years in a plastic factory and after 10 blows with a sledgehammer only a tiny part broke off) is injected and makes the gun. After cooling down and putting the pieces together the gun is ready to be used. Different molds have been made one for each part of the gun making it extremely easy and cheap to mass produce them.

The first design made. This gun uses normal .357 bullets and has the same recoil as any other gun of this type. It can be taken through a metal detector unnoticed.

Our plastic grenade launcher launches normal 40mm grenades just like any other launcher. It's main advantage is that its much lighter and you can't see it through a metal detector.

The plastic used is polypropylene but it has been enforced with fibreglass. This is also called composite plastic. (OOC: A gun of this material has been actually made; see movie 'In the line of fire'.) We have followed the same schemes for ordinary weapons and we just made them of plastic. However, plastic is softer than metal bullets so the barrel needs to be replaced after a certain amount of shots fired. When using an adjusted kind of ammunition fit for plastic barrels we believe we can even make a shotgun. The pellets inside the shotgun shell will be made of fibreglass and the shells itself will remain unchanged. We're still working on this though.

OOC: Whats the point of them if bullets wont pass metal detectors?

When someone puts a gun to your head are you going to ask yourself: Is this gun loaded? No, you will do what the guy with the gun says. Besides, bullets are easy to take with you. When you go through metal detector and it goes off, put the bullets in your shoe sole. Say your shoes have steelcaps or something like that or put them in your belt... There are millions of possible places to hide 6 bullets.

OOC: Good point, and as they are really cheap to make, there will be a nice chunky increase in armed robberies if the tech gets into the wrong hands. for the safety of shopowners everywhere - keep this intel on these weapons for government use only.

Those guns are designed for our military and special service. Maybe we're going to sell them too but there are only a few existing weapons that can be made of plastic.

ooc: in today's world, places like airports come equipped w/sensors that detect not only metal, but also substances like gunpowder. how do you plan to bypass that problem?

Really... Don't you think that there are a few other substances which can trigger a bullet?

Here's an idea: Do away with metal bullets. Just make hard plastic flechettes and coat them in some sort of fast acting poison or toxin. Propel them via compressed CO2. That way, you wouldn't be worrying about metal detectors, or gunpower detectors, or any crap like that. And if anyone asks, you can always say that your men are "Paintball fanatics and we're going to a retreat for a weekend blah blah blah..."

Good idea CF, I'll remember it

OOC - It'd be interesting to see what recoil the gun would generated. I've fired a 357 magnum and 38 specials in a S&W revolver, and it kicks on 357 but I can handle 38 special. The plastic gun would be lighter and not sure how it much recoil the user can handle.

We thought of that. Normal bullets would cause a recoil high enough to break your wrist. Our new and specially designed bullets aren't made for long-range fighting but are perfectly suited for in-doors fighting. A hard tip of granite and (+/- 0.1 inch =0.25 cm long so it won't have any influence to the bullets trajectory) gives it a maximum penetrating effect. Of course, we have implemented recoil lowering features like a heavier barrel but the plastic bullets are best suited for these guns and it gives you less trouble with metal detectors.
