As you know over the past few months Mattikistan has been growing in terms of population and economy, and so military spending has increased accordingly. Although, that increase still leaves military spending lower than any equivalent nation.
Recent analysis indicate that less than 0.8 (+ 0.3 serving as medics) of the population currently serves in the armed forces, and in addition to this our constitutionally-dictated neutrality means that our military has never been used for combat.
It is with this in mind that the Director of Confederacy Economy and Commerce initiated a parliamentary and public poll on the possibility of a 25% funding decrease for the military. Yesterday at 12:00pm the results of this vote showed the public and government in favour of the plan. This notice was sent to show that the resource allocation has been shifted successfully, and the military has already begun mothballing the necessary equipment.
Instead of the military, this now-released finance has been put to our various, extensive humanitarian missions across the planet. Given the rise of conflicts which we are not involved in, and the constitutional need for us to provide medical and humanitarian aid to all those in need during these times of war, the public agreed that this was the most rational choice. As a result, additional supplies and equipment have been sent out to various relief camps, and additional medical students are now being sponsored for the program.
In addition, additional relief efforts can now be afforded and are already being prepared, including teams bound for Dimmimar and Hogsweat.
