The Hamptonshire, A History
Origanally called the Truitt Class Ultra Heavy Missle Cruiser, the name was changed in memory of Hamptonshire, one of the greatest nations in NationStates History. With his help, I myself gainned the proper knowledge into Naval Technologies and created two 'Heavy Weight' Naval Vessels, this, a massive missle cruiser, and a massive aircraft carrier, capable of holding 400+ fighters/bombers and has four angled decks.
The Hamptonshire Class Ultra Heavy Missle Cruiser is the best at what it does. Utilizing 18 Pods to launch virtually any missle, and the ultimate array of defencive systems, makes this the greatest missle cruiser there is, capable to of taking out massive bases, cities, divisions, and more.
Powerplant
The Powerplant for the Hamptonshire is simular to other NationStates Modern Ships, nuclear powered. Using ten nuclear reactors per pylon, meanning twenty in all, produces enough power to move this massive ship at a max speed of 27 knots.
Defencive Weapons
The Defencive Weapons are the best in modern technology, made with all modern technological systems. In the illustration, it shows no SAM systems, but there are. There are six located in each pylon. Meanning twelve in all. They are made of the following in each pylon:
4 - Patriot SAM Sites
2 - Paytheon GMLS Mk29 octuple launchers
With this however, there is not much anti-aircraft cover, but that is not a problem becouse this ship is not ment to be left alone.
Next is the AA Guns, which also double as Anti-Ship Cannons. These add onto the anti-aircraft power. In all, there are the following:
5 - Gattin Automated AA Guns
10 - GE/GD 20mm VulcanPhalanx 6-Barrel Mk15
5 - Grumpin and Lockson Mk38 Computerization Modification
All equally located ontop of the main hull for maximum protection. Also, the Vulcan Phalanx and Mk38 can also be used agenst enemy ships.
Well, submarines pose a very deadly threat. Also, many ships tend to have less anti-torpedo/submarine mechanisms as they get mroe technologicaly advanced, but this was our main consern for the Hamptonshire. Using a maximum 24 Anti-Torpedo "Noise-Maker" tubes on the pylons, and 12 Anti-Torpedo "Noise-Maker" Tubes on the front allow ultimate protection.
As for the Anti-Submarine role, this ship can easily do that. 4 Torpedo Launchers, which fit nearly any size torpedo, are located on each pylon, making a total of eight in all on the pylons. As for the front of this ship, there are four located which can take any submarines ahead of the vessel.
Offencive Weapons
The Truitt has three offencive weapons. One however is for the Anti-Ship and Anti-Bomber role. It is a 250mm Vulrix Truitt-Bolt Gun. A recoiless powerful 250mm gun located in the front of the ship allows perminate protection agenst fast gun boats, slow bombers, and other targets which a fully automatic would love to take out.
As for the secound weapon, it is actually four in all. Four Helicopters can be landed on the front deck easily, right infront of the Vulrix Truitt-Bolt Gun. Tested in size with Sea King helicoters with anti-ship missles located in the hull, this can prove to also help the Truitt in its anti-ship role.
Finally, is what the Hamptonshire would be known for. With nine located on each massive pylon, these Truitt-Bolt MAG Cannons utilize any size missles and can launch any missle into the air to its target. Each cannon is large enough to hold three Tomahawk Missles, of which the cannons can also launch nuclear weapons in its nuclear role. Using the "Jamie Gotta Gun" System, making it so the cannons can be used sepratly, together, or in groups on sertain targets allow up to nine different targets being hit and mroe than likely destroyed. Each cannon however on each pylon, has a 'twin' if you will, or say that back cannon on the left pylon. Its twin is the back cannon on the right pylon, they have to be used at the same time, although this does leave an odd idea of having to use twice the power for only a small target needing one, it helps in the stability of the ship in waters, along with heading and manuverablity. In all, you put a missle in a Matt-Truitt MAG Cannon, and it will fly to the target with little control. The MAG Cannons can also launch Sea-Skimming missles and High-Altitude Missles with ease.
Manuverability
This was the largest problem in the whole project. The cannons launching would cause a bit of recoil in the ships heading, so we needed powerful alierons and rudders. They were found easily, but the placment took a while for the best hydro and areodynamics possable. The Hamptonshire uses an old fassioned rear-hull rudder system, no rudders are located on the pylons. The ten rudders, all working together create enough angle change for a normal heading change turn, yet we needed it to make even steeper turns, so we added the ability for alierons on the wings, which connected the ship to the pylons. One this was atchived however, the reason for the pylons were found, keeping the ship from capsizing. We found that when pulled to full, one pylon would totally break from the wings from stress, so we found a good way to fix this problem for good, add a rudder on both pylons and the main hull for areodynamics. The rudders would help keep the ship turnning, but would also even the ship so little angle is made into the sea.

RADAR and SONAR, all problems with all designs. The Hamptonshire however does have one good quality, and that is little sound when plainly moving at a cruise speed, meanning little SONAR signature. As for the RADAR, that is a problem. The Pylons, being made as areodynamic as possable, make it so they barely show on the RADAR screen, yet the main hull is the other problem. In the front and very rear it does show little RADAR activity, however in the middle section, where the Cannons and the 250mm Truitt-Bolt Gun is located is the only RADAR problem, however, it is not has bad as a truck or anything, but still will show a little.
