The Colonial Government would like to know if it is possibile for the AR-22 to be rechambered to fire 5.56mm NATO or 7.62mm NATO rounds, as well as probable magazine sizes for those calibers if the change is possible.

7.62mm NATO would be possbile and you could most likely accomodate a 40 round magazine or 60 round drum. Anything smaller than 7.62mm is not recommended. Smaller bore diameters mean smaller parts, smaller parts mean more small crevaces and smaller gaps, more places to get sand stuck in and more chance of jamming.

The Democratic Colonies would be interested in aquiring production rights for the AR-22. How much would the fee be for production rights to the AR-22, its varients, and its attachments be?

Funds will be wired immediately. It is our intention to rechamber the AR-22 to one of a small number of alternative rounds currently being considered for adoption. 7.62mm NATO is considered to be the most likely to be adopted for the Colonial built AR-22s, but some in the Department of Defense are suggesting 8.2mm or 9.35mm as other possible contenders. As the designer of the AR-22, do you have any opinions on the matter?

I would go with the largest round possible. The AR-22 was designed to cahmber and fire 11mm rounds and as such the construction is customaized for powerful and pysically large rounds. Also the recoil compensation is also more tuned to larger round.

So the 9.35mm would be the best.

Thank you for your advice. The Andromeda Colony Institute of Technology is still in preliminary stages of a competition between the three alternative rounds fired from rechambered AR-22s, but thier initial results seem to agree with your suggestion. The testers, members of the elite Colonial Navy Lancers and Colonial Army Rangers, report that the recoil of the weapon is much less then expected, and muzzle rise is more managable than simulations predicted.
