I have heard of it and was wondering what it is and where to join?

The International is a communist organization that is based on mutual defense and trade. It'a a good organization, adn it's pretty big...over 40 members. It's anti-totalitarianism and for the most part-pro democratic. I don't have the URL for the forums, but I'm sure the other members would vote for your approval to join.
