"We have touched the sky."

Upper Cet Kola Ytovia

Ytovian Fure Calere Damog Atenkruf steps up to a podium in front of reporters. Although the style of his administration has been to issue written statements as of late, on this occasion a public appearance seems more appropriate.

Atenkruf: Ladies and gentlemen of the press, citizens of the Dominion, citizens of the world, I am pleased to make the following proclamation. At 7:34 this morning, the plane known as "Skyfire" took off from the Yeagley-Krulok Center near Berlin Hiland. At 8:21, Skyfire launched a second vehicle, called "Firebird". At 8:25 this morning, astronaut Jason Orr announced from aboard the Firebird that, I quote, "We have touched the sky." The Firebird spent two hours outside of the atmosphere. The craft has now returned safely back to the Yeagley-Krulok Center.

At this point, I would like to thank the following corporations and foundations which have supported our space program: The Astrotrain Foundation, The Basket Case, Inc., Careppo, Casa Tejas, Cochrane Industries, CroCola, Inc., The DUCK, Eady Electronics, Forward Thought, Inc., Gund, Inc., Jacobs, Inc., Kru-Mart, Inc., Lerner's, The Manchester Automotive Group, Mincy's, Mubar, National Ytovian Broadcasting, What's In Store, Inc., WrightSoft, The Ytovian Broadcasting Service, and Zuzana, Inc.

I will now take questions. Points. YBS?

YBS Reporter: What is the next step for the space program?

Atenkruf: The next step involves extended stays in orbit, developing extra-vehicular ability, constructing larger craft and delivering satellites to orbit. NYB?

NYB Reporter: Were there any complications in today's flight?

Atenkruf: I am told that today's flight went remarkably smoothly, and that all involved are extremely pleased. DP?

DP Reporter: Is it true that you are planning on putting nuclear missiles on these satellites that you plan on putting in orbit?

*Laughter from other reporters*

Atenkruf: No. Ytovia has not developed nuclear weapons and has no plans at this time. Satellites will be used for communications and global positioning services. DUCK?

The DUCK Reporter: Can you elaborate on the nature of the corporate support for this project?

Atenkruf: Certainly. While this project has been entirely directed by the government of Upper Cet Kola Ytovia, many corporations have contributed funds. While investing in the country's scientific research will repay them in the long run, they are also being allowed to advertise their involvement. We will also advertise which corporations and groups contributed, and express our gratitude, and our appreciation for their continued support.

If that is all the questions, then I bid you adieu.
