Thread RP Progress Report: Planning stage

If you are familiar with this...TG me...

OOC comments open...no IC comments in this thread

I'm making this the preview and sign up thread...i will end up reposting all the IC material to a new thread once i figure out how we can RP this story effectively

[code:1:7b7399e1f6]If you want to join, you will have to make up a atleast 1 character for the RP. It is possible to have a maximum of 4 characters. But the ceiling of characters I want for this RP is possibly at about 42, but the minimum if there aren't enough people joining would be at about 30. Your characters will be RPed as extra characters brought in, in addition to the kids already with the original class, in the bus.

Character Prerequisite:

Age: High School (Nothing too old or too young. The movie itself had kids in ninth grade)
A list of personal effects: maximum 3 [i.e. clothes, personal medication (i.e. inhaler for asthma), toiletries (for the girls), small electronics (laptop, cell phones, cameras, etc)]

*Note* Nothing extreme like super powers or super strength or ability to call in armies because you have a cell phone. Remember, you are RPing a teenager(s). Your character(s) will be given additional supplies at the beginning of the RP.

TG me your character so that I can approve it.[/code:1:7b7399e1f6]

One year later…

Month: xx Day: xx Year: 20xx

Class 2-B, of Shiritsu Daitou High School, is traveling by bus to an undefined location in an outlying province of the city. The location and purpose of this field trip is unknown to most of the class. The few that pondered over the exact purpose and place of this trip had concluded that this was just the typical class camping trip, taken by the class at the beginning of each year, due to the fact that they were told to pack several days worth of clothing and also any other small personal effects that they might need. Overall, this ninth grader class didn’t give a care in the world to where they were going and what they would be doing; all that mattered was that they would be able to get out of class and have some time on their own and with their friends and also outside of the, now regular, student boycotts and random anti-government terrorist attacks that plagued the entire country.

This was an era of civil unrest, which had been spread out over the past several decades of the twenty-first century. Millions of people were out of work, and more than one-fifth of the population lived in a state of poverty. Those in the middle and very minuscule upper class controlled the increasingly corrupt “big-brother” “1984” type state. But in recent years, there have been considerable amounts of change in the ratio between the youth and adults in the country. As the adolescent population greatly grew over the past two decades in the middle and vastly larger lower class, the population of adults, especially in that of the upper class, dwindled to a point that there were 4 adolescent persons, whom were under the age of 25, to 1 adult over 25. This specific change in population was one of the causes that would trigger the civil unrest and insurgency against the already corrupt government. As the civil strife crept into the various corners of society, it was inevitable that the virulent like ideals, which had grown and mutated layer by layer in the crucible of the working and poverty stricken masses, would soon reach the eyes, ears, and minds of hundreds of thousands of students of all different grades and ages. These ideals needed a more suitable host, as its previous hosts were beginning to show the effects of time, as the men and women who started this crusade against the government withered and soon died. The growing youth population provided the perfect host to carry on the ideals. As more and more students started to assimilate these ideas and thoughts, the more and more uncontrollable they were turning. This escalated to a point where nearly 800,000 students boycotted school. This act finally alerted those in power of the swiftly growing threat of the youth, which they had previously dismissed before the start of the boycotts. Fearing the threat of the youth population and keeping in mind many of the long-term effects of this continuing increase in civil spite within the minds of the youth would have on the remaining future of the ruling class and their grasp over the country, the government passed the Millennium Educational Reform Act, a.k.a. “The BR Act.”

To be continued at a later date...
(OOC: I am basing this thread on the movie "Battle Royale" directed by Kinji Fukasaku, and based on the novel by Koushun Takami. I have watched the movie, but I have yet to read the novel, for I have to search for the translated version of the novel itself.
OOC2: I am still trying to work out a way to RP this thing so that it will be easier for the RPers to understand, as well as the readers. TG me if you seem interested to join, want to know more about the movie, or have any suggestions to help me with the thread.)

“Hey! Driver! How much longer until we get to camp?” yelled, Melina, one of the students near the midsection of the bus. “Wha…What? Oh the camp…Hmmm…We’ve got about 5 hours left…The traffic on the cause-way delayed use 3 hours.” “Oh...” replied the student, as she returned to chatting with her friends sitting behind her. “Hey, Nozomi, did you hear what happened at school yesterday?”

“Eh? No…I was absent…I had a doctor’s appointment…” said Nozomi Sato “What happened?”

http://homepage.eircom.net/~screamanthology/br/moviestills/br063.jpg

“A group of upper classmen attacked one of the teachers. I heard that the teacher complimented on how great the government is” replied Melina.

“Great...Politics…I hate politics. I don’t care what the government does or what those radicals do…As long as I don’t get dragged into the mess, I’m fine.”

“But you do know that these various actions happen to have a very powerful effect on the course of our future…”

“Yea, I know…All that long-term planning stuff. I just don’t care anymore…They can kill themselves all they want…Just…Ouch!!! Nobu!!! Quit pulling at my hair!!! “

“Eh? Sorry, Nozomi! Just playin’ with ya…” said Nobu, the boy sitting behind Nozomi, who had just finished staring unconsciously out the window.

“Nobu…Just annoy Satomi or Ching over there…Just don’t bother me.”

“Why? They’re both boring…All they do is just stare at each other…All lovey-dovey and the sort…Makes me want to throw up…Almost forgot…Shun wants to talk to you…”

“Wha?” exclaims Nozomi “What?”

“Argh…Shun wants to have a word with you. He is sitting over there.” points Nobu. “And Melina…He wants his cell phone back…You’ve had it for…I think the whole week.”

“Oh, ok…” said Melina “I’ll give it back to him when we get to the place.”

Nozomi attempts to get up and move from her seat to a couple of seats towards the back of the bus, but almost trips during several of her attempts.
-
At the rear of the bus, another group of students is engaged in deep conversation.

“Kazuhiko, how is your uncle doing? Is he still in hiding?”

“Max…I said don’t ask about him anymore. My family is having enough trouble with the debts he left behind…” said Kazuhiko, impatiently.

“Come on. We know he is in the uprising” replied Max.

“Max, everyone is in the uprising…Well almost everyone…” said another of the boys.

“Well, yea…How about your parents, Ken? You rarely speak of them” said Max.

“Hey, don’t drag me into this…I don’t care much about politics” answered Ken.

“Then why in the world are you here in this group?”

“I just want to listen…’cause I’m bored sick.That’s all.”

“Really…”

“I’m serious…They people can do whatever they want…”

“Ummm…Yea right…”

“Ok...I’ll leave…Just continue with your junk…”

Ken turns around and reclines his seat and puts on his headphones and pretends to sleep. But he lowers the volume on his MD player so that he could still eavesdrop on the ongoing conversation he was in. Secretly, his parents play an important role in organizing and planning in much of the strikes and boycotts going around in his local prefecture back at home. But soon, he loses all interest in the conversation and quickly drifts off into sleep.

“Hey, Yuki, can you pass those cookies, over here. They’re like the best I’ve tasted since ever!” exclaimed Hitomi.

“Hitomi…Don’t eat too much…Save some for the return trip.”

“But they’re so good…And homemade!”

“Fine…” said Yuki, “but 5 dollars a piece.”

“Hmph…”

“Well…How ‘bout this…Tell me how you feel about Sugimura-san and then I’ll give you the whole bag” bargained Yuki.

“WHAT!!! You can’t do that!”

“But it’s the whole bag…” said Yuki

“Well...Well…I…Crap!!! Nobu!!! Get stay in your seat!!! You’re going to hurt someone!!!”

http://homepage.eircom.net/~screamanthology/br/moviestills/br070.jpg

“Sorry Hitomi-chan! Just annoying people!” answered Nobu as he was climbing over the chair to sit next to Shun, who was reading a magazine.

“I hate him. Always so annoying” said Hitomi “but I’ve heard he has a thing for Nozomi-chan.”

“Hey! Quit changing the subject!” said Yuki “So what were you saying about Sugimura-san?”

As the waning sun sets over the horizon, the bus continues to travel onward. The students, still oblivious of where they are being taken, continue to chat and do whatever they want to do to keep themselves from getting bored.

http://homepage.eircom.net/~screamanthology/br/moviestills/br072.jpg

Soon the bus reaches another tunnel and continues through it, while the occupants, undisturbed shrug and continue chatting with each other as the darkness of the tunnel engulfs the bus and its occupants. An invisible gas started to seep into the passenger compartment from the ac vents.

As the bus traveled nearer towards the exit of the vehicle, all the students lay in a deep sleep.

As the students started waking up, they found themselves in a dark and unfamiliar classroom. Many of them had been lying on the floor or had been placed slumped over a chair or desk. As many of then gained consciousness, they began to notice a new object on their person, a metal neck band around their neck.

http://homepage.eircom.net/~screamanthology/br/moviestills/br088.jpg

http://homepage.eircom.net/~screamanthology/br/moviestills/br087.jpg

Then suddenly, a bright light from outside the room engulfs the classroom through the windows and the sound of helicopters breaks the silence.

Some students, who were able to recover from the initial flash, edged their way over to the windows to try to see what was going on outside.

http://homepage.eircom.net/~screamanthology/br/moviestills/br103.jpg

“What the hell!?!?”

“Hey!!! Look!!! I think someone is coming out of one of the helicopters!”

“Move over! I want to see!”

http://homepage.eircom.net/~screamanthology/br/moviestills/br105.jpg

The indistinct figure of a man is seen exiting out of one of the helicopters as the lights in the room goes on. Just then, the door opens and slams loudly on the wall. Several fully armed soldiers come in and line the room, with their guns pointed at the students, many of whom cower together as a group in the middle of the room; some stay standing look apprehensively at the guards; while others just gawk at the soldiers, still in shock at the situation that they were in.

“Everyone to the back of the room now!” yelled one of the soldiers at the front of the classroom, near the door “Now!!! Go to the back of the room now!”

“Why in the world should we listen to you! Where are we!” yelled Nobu.

“Shut up! We order you to go to the back of the room now!” replied the soldier “Men! Weapons at the ready!”

Several lasers were now pointed directly at Nobu’s forehead. Nobu himself took several steps backwards and bumped into the now huddled crowd of students standing at the back of the room.

“Ten-hut!” yelled the soldier.

http://homepage.eircom.net/~screamanthology/br/moviestills/br110.jpg

All at once, the soldiers stood up straight, and in walked a fifty years of age man, many guessed that this man was the same man who had arrived on the helicopter. While some looked at the man curiously, few of the students had their jaws drop as they stared at the man, with several memories coming back to them. The man had walked in and stopped behind the teacher’s desk at the front of the classroom, he pulled out a folder he was carrying and started to read it. Nobu stared at the man awestruck and terrified.

“Kitano???” said one of the girls. “Can’t be…”

“How? What in the world is going on?”

“Sit down!” yelled Kitano, as he continued to read the contents of his folder.

One by one the students started to sit down. Many of the students had remembered this person, he was their 7th grade teacher from a while back. Nobu, himself could remember one particular incident where he stabbed Kitano during school.

Kitano looked up at the students.

“Been a while. I'm Kitano, your 7th grade teacher. I'm taking Class B over again. Let's be friends.”
