Communist uprising! Martial Law declared! (open)

*Shadowport Army base 3:00 AM*

The army base at Shadowport was home to the Sixty-Ninth Arctic Dragoons division. One full regiment of them were communists, and to show their beliefs, wore the red star patch on their arms. They were one of the few military units to do so, although many civilians did as well. However, these troops were an exception, they formed the core of the secret People's Tundric Liberation Army.

Some 5,000 PTLA fighters were located throughout the city armed with AKs, machine guns, and RPGs awaiting the beginning of their revolution, while thousands more waited to storm into the army base once the regiment took control and seize the weapons and vehicles their.

The clock tick time away, the regiment was awakened and in full combat gear, they had made sure all the guards and MPs on duty at the time would be on their side, so they had no difficulty in getting out their weapons and vehicles.

They readied themselves, their time of glory at hand, then the division commander, General Kensington woke up and stepped out of his office to the site of nearly a hundred tanks and light armoured vehicles, along with units of infantry about to storm the barracks' and kill everyone inside. He was about to yell something when one of the tank machine gunners opened up, sending two dozen rounds ripping through his body. The lead tanker blared the stereo he had installed, as the song woke the sleeping soldiers who slowly stumbled out to find out what was going on, hearing loud music and gunfire.

The tanks opened up, machine gun and cannon fire started ripping through the half sleeping tankers and infantrymen as they scrambled to get to armouries and grab weapons to fight back with.

"Why do I cry when angels deserve to die..." the music played as a dozen or so soldiers got their hands on weapons and started firing back, but being cut to pieces instantly. Time seemed to slow as the massacre was going on, and all around the city, thousands of PTLA troops arose, savagely attacking police stations and the the docks. Guards at the docks managed to hold them back for a little bit, and all but three ships got away, but MLRS and coastal defences, now under communist control, opened fire, sinking two frigates and a destroyer as the ships headed out to sea. However, a battleship, a cruiser, and a corvette remained in dock.

The PTLA troops took control of the three ships and used them to form a rough line of naval defence. Thousands more PTLA men and women rushed into the army base, the slaughter completed, and armed themselves. Nearby army bases were alerted, and troops were assembling.

However, communist attack helicopters made attack runs on the bases, slaughtering thousands of sleeping and newly awaken soldiers with gun, rocket, and missile fire. They targeted fuel and ammo dumps, sending large explosions ripping through the bases. PTLA tanks rolled out amongst the streets as the last of the police forces were killed off, and PTLA troops secured control of one of the Tundra's most important cities.

*New Toronto*

At the home of the leader of the communist party, the president walked in, neither of them knowing of the war erupting in Shadowport. It was odd to have such late meetings, but an important session of parliament was going to be held at noon that day, and the communist leader and President had important matters to discuss.

However, one of the communist party leader's bodyguards was a member of the PTLA, and had one duty on his mind. As the president walked by and took his seat, shaking hands with the party leader, the guard drew his pistol, and within only a few seconds, President Julius Verian's hand exploded in a shower of blood. Bodyguards from both sides cut the PTLA agent to pieces with SMG and pistol fire.

*30 minutes later*

An emergency inaugaration ceremony had just taken place, making Jason Verian, the eldest son of Julius Verian, president. Jason was young, only 23, and furious over his father's death. He assembled his military and intelligence commanders, except for one, who was a known communist, and put forth his plan of action.

Within the hour, martial law was declared, Tundric tanks prowled the streets, while infantry setup outposts and checkpoints. Six divisions formed a line around Shadowport, waiting for the order to attacks. Communist supporters were being rounded up by the hundreds of thousands and put into the wilderness, surrounded by Tundric troops. The communists were told to revoke their beliefs, or face punishment. Many of them, hearing of what had happened, and of the president's murder, dropped their communist cause. About a thousand, taken from the capital of New Toronto, stood up defiantly, saying that the one responsible were extremists, and that the military and new president should be punished just as badly for the way they were being rounded up.

Those thousand people were lined up and shot dead, under orders of the new president.

*Verian Presidential Palace*

At the presidential palace, the leaders, and MPs of the communist party had been gathered. The leader was sitting in an office preparing a speech that would condemn the actions of the PTLA when suddenly a dozen palace guardsmen burst in, the leader stood up to demand what was going on, when one guard forced him back in his chair, drew out a knife, and slit his throat.

All around the palace, the other communist party members were rounded up and killed. The palace guard airbase launched a squadrons of AF-36s and the fighters headed out towards New Toronto.

*Back at New Toronto, 4:37 AM*

The squadron of Palace guard fighters crossed through the airspace without difficulty, the Air Force bases having been informed of their mission. The fighters flew over the foreign district of the city where the embassies were held, their target, the Hattian embassy, and all the other embassies of communist nations that were in the Tundra. The fighters dropped their unguided bombs with trained precision, and from all around the city, the explosions could be heard and seen. The Hattian ambassador, in Avalon at the time, having met with the Avalon premier, was found by members of the special forces, his bodyguards were cut to pieces, and he himself was taken in, the president wanted his execution to be aired in the middle of the day for all the Tundra to see.

OOC: Yes, the PTLA are the commies. The Tundra, ever since our war with Hattia, has accepted communism as perfectly suitable political system, and even a good system at that. However, Jason hates communism, all the more due to the fact that his father was just assassinated, so now all communists are enemies of the state and communism is now a thing to be hated.

Subject: Your assistance
Message:
We thank you for your offer of assitance, although for now, we belief we have the situation under control, our army and police forces are arresting all known communists, and soon camps shall be established to house them. As for the PTLA, we have more than enough forces to crush them, but if you wish to assist, by all means deploy air forces, or airborne units, as our attack on Shadowport will commence soon.

*Tundric military blockade, 49th Arctic Fusiliers*

A dozen Myrmidon MBTs rolled towards the city of Shadowport, two dozen LAV IV APCs were rolling with them. Several LAV-AMS' and MLRS' were behind, ready to provide artillery support. The combined battalion was ordered to move towards the PTLA lines and probe their defences.

However, the PTLA was already moving out, hoping to punch a hole through the line and be able to send out small groups of infantry to try to start up revolutions in other cities, since all the other PTLA troops across the Tundra were being rounded up, and many were being shot.

A PTLA Myrmidon/ rolled around a curve in the road, emerging from the cover the trees provided, when the Tundric tanks spotted it. The two leading Tundric tanks fired off their 125mm cannons, the rounds smashing into the PTLA tank and destroying it. The APCs scattered, as did the tanks, as several 125mm shells came barreling through the woods, several exploding into trees, helping to clear out the small bit of cover the PTLA tanks had.

The LAV commander called in artillery support, and a dozen artillery missiles came smashing through the group of PTLA tanks. One of their tanks managed to knock a Tundric Myrmidon out of commission however.

The PTLA forces were fully alerted to the attack, and so the Tundric forces advanced at full speed, dismounting the infantry at the outskirts of the city where they split up and harassed PTLA units. The LAVs fired off their Fireblade AT missiles at several enemy LAV-MGS', which fired off their 110mm cannons at the gathered tanks. One shell hit a Myrmidon but the armour managed to keep the tank in the fight.

The Tundric tanks opened up on the PTLA LAVs, and a in few minutes, a full scale battle had erupted around them.

*Tundric wilderness*

The area had been designated holding area 03, and was located right near a rail line. The large train stopped on the tracks, but since there was no station, soldiers simply shoved the communists captives off and onto the ground. Then, the communist supporters were herded with the others already at the area. Several engineering and construction vehicles were setting up a small encampment to hold them. And the president had ordered that prefab camps, something originally developed during the civil war, to be established across the wilderness to house the prisoners until something useful could be done with them.

However, not all the supporters were allowed to live, those that spoke out against the unfair treatment they were receiving were dragged off, and shot. The soldiers still being furious over the uprising in Shadowport and over the murder of their beloved president.

*New Toronto, parliament*

Parliament had been called into session, and the nation was wide awake now, and glued to their tv screens, waiting for the president's address.

Jason Verian stood up to the podium and began his short address, a formal speech would come later, when the speechwriters came up with one. "Today is a tragic day for us, our beloved president, my father, has been murdered. The communists, which we have so gladly accepted and embraced have betrayed us, murdering thousands of our soldiers and trying to take control of the government. Well no more, as of right now, communism is illegal in the Canadian Tundra. We are in the process of rounding up all known communist supporters, and they will be put to work in camps that shall be setup in the wilderness, unless some communist nation is willing to take the dogs off our hands, in which case we will ship them away. As for the so called PTLA, I promise that by the end of the week, we shall have the head of every last one of them stuck on a pike!"

The Soviet Socialist Republic demands that our ambassador be returned unharmed to us at once. Our embassy has been attacked, and therefore, Hattia has been attacked. You will return him to us at once, because if he dies. You haven't seen brutality until you've seen a Hattian soldier with vengeance on their mind...

5 miles from Petrograd: 0143 hours

The base appeared to be nothing more than a standard military base, like the hundreds that dotted the Hattian countryside. But this one held a secret, it was the home to the 1st Red Hammer Brigade, the elite of the elite. Only mobilized to defend the homeland or the Prime Minister, but this was an insult they couldn't bear. Ironically, the first time they were mobilized was when Tundric Forces launched an invasion of Hattia and were beaten back, and the second time was when they were fighting on the side of the Tundric Government in their civil war. Now, they were readying up to go and retrieve their comrade and then find and kill every government official in the country.

Apparently, the Tundrics didn't know the saying, "If you kill a Hattian, you better be prepared to kill them all..."

*Avalon City*

The fighting between communist forces and Tundric forces stepped up a notch as the five Red Reaper divisions, commissioned during the civil war, trained in Hattia by the Hattian military, and equipped with Hattian weapons, fought against the Thirty-Sixth Arctic Infantry, the Thiry-Seventh Arctic Hussars, the Tundric Warriors, and the Eighty-Third Arctic Dragoons divisions.

Lieutenant Owen Smith and his infantry lance hid among the rubble of one of the buildings. The Red Reapers hadn't originally planned on fighting, since they were against the PTLA, and many weren't even communists, but the divisions had an affinity for, and close ties to, Hattia, and the destruction of the Hattian embassy, as the Reapers knew, would likely bring the nations to war.

That was where Smith and his lance came in. They had been detached from their unit, and while the five Reaper divisions pulled the four Tundric divisions away from the city center, Owen and his lance would rescue the Hattian ambassador.

The infantry lance made their way down the street, flashes and gunfire behind them and to their sides, then a pair of Myrmidon tanks escorted by an infantry platoon came down an intersection and spotted them.

Instantly two Harbringer infantry borne missile launchers went off, sending two missiles screaming into the tanks. The tanks fired off their cannons, laying waste to third platoon and destroying a corner of the building. The Red troops scattered and fired on the Tundric infantry with their HAR-3 rifles, killing them all, but losing five men.

The infantry continued their advance, and aririved at the Provincial Parliament Building, where the ambassador was being held. Numerous tanks and other vehicles were surrounding it, while infantry setup rudimentary fortifications. Lieutenant Owen radioed in the positions, and called for air and artillery support.

A dozen A-54 Attack Helicopters arrived, sending missiles and rockets screaming into the vehicles and fortifications. Infantry scattered, and 30mm cannon fire ripped through them. The infantry lance under Owen advanced, pegging off surviving troops, and sending a Harbringer into a surviving Myrmidon. More Tundric infantry rushed out of the building, when the Reaper artillery fired, and sent shells tearing into them.

The infantry lance rushed the building, tossing in grenades, then storming inside. They killed the guards and grabbed the ambassador, when helicopters picked them up outside and rushed them to the nearby Reaper airfield. The ambassador was thrown in the back seat of a trainer variant of an AF-36, and the other Reaper fighters broke off to escort it as it shot off towards Hattia, hoping to find Hattian naval forces where it could drop off the ambassador.

*Shadowport*

Artillery and air forces pummelled the city, as four divisions entered. The PTLA battleship moved to begin coastal shelling, but soon shells started raining down around it. The other two PTLA warships were sunk within minutes as the first Shadowport Naval Brigade closed in.

OOC: Is Martial Law, communist?

OOC: Uh, lol, no, martial law isn't communist. It's basically where a nation (or part of a nation) temporarily becomes a police state, or partially like a police state. Basically, soldiers are everywhere, and there is a curfew for everyone, and can anyone can be arrested and detain for no reason if the police or military is suspicious of them.

IC:

*Hattian fleet*

"This is Red Reaper Alpha lead, I have your ambassador aboard and am coming into the carrier along with my escort, the other fighters will head back and continue to provide air support for the Red Reaper divisions." The fighter pilot spoke as the aircraft, and the rest of alpha squadron, came into hovering positions above the carrier and drifted down onto the deck.

*Shadowport*

The PTLA troops were being driven back, superior Tundric air and artillery power had shattered the PTLA heavy armour and support units, leaving only light armour and infantry left to engage the invaders. A battalion of Myrmidons raised their cannons and unleashed a barrage of 125mm fire onto the city hall where the PTLA had setup a headquarters, the fortifications were smashed to pieces, and several squadrons made a bombing run on it, levelling most of the complex.

Then two battalions of LAV IV APCs rolled in, and while pouring 30mm and machine gun fire into the rubble, and into anything that moved, dropped off 18 platoons of infantry, who proceeded to start sifting through the rubble in search of survivors.

*Avalon province*

Three divisions of Tundric troops were enroute to help the divisions under siege by the Red Reapers, and now the battle had been joined. Hundreds of MLRS missiles and artillery shells filled the sky as fighters tore into each other. Several naval ships fired off cruise missiles into the Reaper formations, but the highly trained and courageous Reapers fought on, repelling the assault and forcing a line to be created around them, as they themselves were surrounded and came under siege.

*Tundric wilderness*

The prisoners, approximately 13 million of them, had been relocated once again, there was significant trouble trying to get food out to them, and so far, it appeared as though several hundred thousand were going to die in a day or two because of dehydration. Tundric engineering and construction vehicles were working to setup forced labour camps where the prisoners could be put to use gathering raw materials, and were being put to work cutting down trees and constructing the camps. About 10,000 prisoners tried to protest, and sat down, refusing all orders.

So, the commander of the unit guarding them ordered gas shells to be brought up from the nearest WMD depot, and issued them to the artillery units. All of the Tundric units up in the wilderness in Ontario put up their NBC protection, and the gas shells were dropped into the middle of the protesting crowd.

The explosions killed about two hundred initially, and gas started drifting all around them, killing thousands in minutes. They panicked and tried to flee, but were surrounded by all sides by Tundric army units, and under orders from the president, they opened fire, mowing them down until everyone last one of the protestors were dead.

To ensure no more resistance would take place, Tundric commanders ordered the infantry to drive through the crowds in their Arctic Coyotes and randomly rake the crowds with rifle and machine gun fire. Thousands more were slaughtered in this way, instilling fear into the prisoners, and eliminating the last vestiges of resistance.
