NEW GRANCIA-The Government of Triancia annouced today the start of an ambitious new weapons program, desgined to leap-frog ahead of many nation's more powerful militaries.

Major General Philip Markov, Commander of the Triancian Air Forces 144th Development Wing, stated today at a press conferance that development began on a sub-orbital strike aircraft, dubbed the XSF-1 Mercury.

"This new aircraft will show that Triancia has the ability to strike any agressor the threatens this nation and it's interest." said Markov. He went furthur, stating that this strike aircraft, when compleited, would have the ability to engage in ASAT warfare from near-earth orbit, prefrom high altitude surviallience, and also deploy so-called 'kinetic weapons' to hardenned targets.

Although the Triancian defense community hails the development, certain members of the government are speaking harshly of this new program. Representive Jessica Rarlin of the Triancian Parliment voiced her concern with the fiscal costs of the new aircraft.

"This nation is currently hard pressed to find money for improving law enforcement, or indeed, even upgrading our current convetional forces. While this program may have some place in the future, it is certainly not appropaite for Triancia in its current state."

Niether Prime Minister John Decker, nor President Roger Stanton have responded to detractors, though they have stated that they are looking for partners to help in the research and funding of the project.

by Eric Muldon

ROOSEVELT CITY: An Anounomous source placed high in the Corennian government has stated that the Appropriations committee is currently considering drafting a propsal to the country of Triancia to assist in the development and production of the revolutionary multi-role fighter, dubbed the 'Mercury'.

A spokesman for the Corennian Congress has refused to confirm the report, and President Raymond Jyden has stated that, "No plans are in the works, as of yet."

Already, protests have begun in several universitys. One Protester and spokesperson for "Corennian's Against Military Proliferation" (CAMP) says, "The Triancian's have nothing to offer but a Military controlled administration. Unlike them, we shouldn't unnessacarily work on developing technology that will only raise the possibility for war."
