Peter Archinberg, the Secretary of War stood in front of the swarm of world media. Clearing his throat, he began his announcement;
"Friends of the Union. I have come to you to announce the creation of another branch of the national armed forces. The creation of this branch reflects in our moves to make the Austarian armies more Special-Forces based, rather than General Infantry.
This new division will be called the Red Core.
Red Core soldiers are chosen from birth, based on genetic data, which identifies such babies as ones that will grow into the fastest, strongest, most agile etc. These babies once born will be fostered by the national military, and immediatly once they are taken into custody, begin intensive training.
At first, as a baby of course, this means simple exersises which build upon baby speed, intelligence etc. As a toddler, they may learn how to run and leap over obsticles. As they leave the toddler stage, they will learn how to fire a rifle and use an assortment of weapons etc.
Statistics show that we expect that Red Core soldiers will have the skill of a regular infantry soldier by the age of 9. Once they reach the fighting age of 18, a Red Core soldier will have gained the skills and training to have the worth of some fifty regular soldiers put together, however this number is subject to a variety of conditions and variables.
