I need a cheap tank. The specs:

1. Big Gun (Able to knock out an M1A2 Arbrams)
2. or anyother type of modern tech weapon
3. Be able to hit the Abrams before he even knows I am thier
4. Light armour - Heavy armour (you choose)
5. Quick (resonibly)

The ideal tank would be a modern T-34. Serious offers only

Ummm... the T-34 is an excellent tank, but it's no match for an Abrams. not by a long shot.

Get a Leopard, Challenger, or that Israeli Tank whose name I keep forgetting...

The Gladiator Tank of the Gorkonian Military, is our newest and most powerful MBT yet. Our small size has led to a small number of tanks, but we would be willing to spare one or two for $7,000,000 each. Here are the design specifications:

Gorkonian 'Gladiator' G23 MBT:
Weight: 71 tons
Length with gun forward: 400 inches
Width: 140 inches
Ground clearance: 20 inches
Propulsion: 2,102 horsepower gas turbine engine
Maximum governed speed: 49 mph
Acceleration: 0 - 20mph in 7.5 seconds
Range: 300 miles (new fuel efficient methods)
Main Armament: 152mm armour-piercing cannon
Additional Weapons: M2 machine gun, 3X 7.62mm machine guns
Chobham armour & active protection system
Additional Equipment: Rangefinder Laser, Thermal Imager, Optical Fire Control, Missile Guidance Capability, Shtora-1? IR & SACLOS Jammer, Radar Jammer
Onboard Computer: Accuracy aids, Target recognition and acquisition,
HQ and units link, Global positioning

It may sound extravagant, but our military forces put a considerable amount of resources into its development. As such, only 16 have been commissioned so far, and we would gladly sell two to cover the costs.

(OOC: I'm sure he means the T-34 of its day or something. Still, having said that, something able to knock-out an Abrams before even being noticed would have to be high-tech, and part of the point to the T-34 was that it could be cheaply and quickly produced, the two things being somewhat the antithesis of one another creates quite the problem. Does he want cheap, or does he want high-tech? Who knows? (Oh, I expect you mean Merkava, in reference to the Israeli tank, though (while a very good weapon) that's a fairly specialist vehicle for urban warfare of the sort liable to face Israeli crews in their fairly unusual situation, and would, I should expect, suffer in certain environments.) And where'd this guy get Chobham? [narrows eyes] That's a state secret, damn it!)

OOC:Damn yanks stealing our ideas eh!

Gits.

IC: We would point you to our storefront, Intelligent Products. It is on another forum but here is the link:

There, if you click on the 'MBT' forum, you should see some cheap and effective tanks. I point to the T-90 as a good example.

If those MBT's are too expensive, try the 'Amphibious Tanks' section, it has a good light tank, the Type-63.

Feel free to browse...

Let's just say, we have our sources :D. Legitimate sources, of course. Our nation has the drive and the knowledge to make powerful weaponry, our only problem is resources. So we make various agreements with more powerful nations. For example, the armour is British in origin. Our main gun is adapted from the designs of a Russian prototype, but essentially our own work. The secondary guns are straight imports from America. If we had not taken this route, it would have cost significantly more time and money to develop than it actually did. Ultimately, we intend to rely soley on our own technology but for now, we must work with what we have.
Once we have perfected an efficient production technique, we will be able to produce the Gladiator on a much larger scale.

Well Crookfur Arms would nromally push the T-7 Gilgamesh as an option but in WW2 terms its much more of Tiger 2/IS2 than a T-34/sherman

No this time would opt to put forward the T-8 Grey Mamba medium MBT.
it meets all of your requirements.

1. Big gun, well it uses a Crookfur High tempreature ETC gun system that offers a nice large amount of power, although only slightly bigger than the Abrams' 120mm at 123mm it is vastly more powerful.
2. well the main gun is backed up by a longer Crookfur ranged "version" of the OCSW (25mm automatic grenade launcher) and 2 moutning points that can either hold a box for SAMs, ATGMs and other missiles or pods of rockets that can be used either as artillery or using the APKWS II giudance package as cheap giuded weapons for destroying light vehciles and fortifications.
3. Well if it was just you vs the Abrams on a flat plain then you would both be able to see each other for miles but you would have detected him before you got into visual rnage also your gun has about 1.5-2x the rnage of his... (ok so maybe thats overstating it a little bit), in the actual feild of abttle it is rahter difficult to hide tanks from the various sensors of the modern army but the Grey mamba does make a good stab at it.
4. reasonable armour in the sort of medium area but backed up by all the coutner measures you want, chaff, flares, ECM and (subject to an upgrade cost) an incomign round interception system capable agaisnt both HEAT and KE systems.
5. The T-8 is very quick off its marks being capable of a whooping 90KPH!!!
