I concur with Apple Zer0.

Size compared to population is nice. There's one thing I'm iffy about. This being 5 B2 Spirits. The number's not the problem but the known high costs of the aircraft. But other then that little slight questioning this is actually rather good. Especially comsidering I've been seeing a number of noobish nations lately.

He did't try to destroy the world, and he did't amaze us with a 40 million man army. I think we can let the B-2's slip :P

BBC World Service: MoD, BID offer Canan first refusal on decomissioned Type 42s

The Ministry of Defence, with full support of PM Bull's ruling British Industrial Democratic party has been reported to be approaching the government of Canan over the possibility of a naval sale.

The well publicised launch just weeks ago of HMS Daring, the first of the RN's Type 45 destroyers, has unsurprisingly coincided with the withdrawl from service of several Type 42 destroyers.

The Type 42, while thought to fall short of meeting the Royal Navy's proud traditions as queen of the seas, is no slouch. Built between 1972 and 1985, the eleven vessels of the class presently in operational condition have served around the world, their Sea Dart missiles providing air defence for British maritime operations from the Persian Gulf to East Timor, and serving in heavy combat in the Falklands. Two Type 42s also served, in an ironic twist, for the Argentine navy.

It is thought that London shall await confirmation or denial of initial interest before forwarding sensitive data on the capabilities of the involved vessels.

After considerable thought, the Department of National Defense has agreed to consider aquiring the ships.

Available Type 42 (Sheffield Class) destroyers, known in RN service as Her Majesty's Ships Cardiff, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Gloucester, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Southampton, and York are available for possible sale to Canan.

Major note goes to HMS Gloucester which, during the First Gulf War, saved the USS Missouri from impact by an enemy Silkworm missile, detecting and destroying the incoming weapon moments before it would have impacted on the American warship.

Manchester, Gloucester, Edinburgh, and York are of Batch 3, which weigh 5,200 tonnes, while the rest are Batch 1 and 2, displacing 4,820 tonnes a piece

Basic specifications are as follows:
Batches 1 and 2-
Length: 125m/410 ft
Beam: 14.3m/47 ft
Batch 3-
Length: 141m/462.5 ft
Beam: 15.2m/50 ft
Common to all classes-
Speed: 18kts cruise, 30kts maximum
Complement: 287 standard, 312 maximum
Armament: Twin Sea Dart missile launcher
114mm/4.5 inch Mark 8 gun
2x 20mm close range guns
2x 20mm Vulcan Phalanx close-in-weapons-system (CIWS)
2x triple anti-submarine torpedo tubes
NATO Seagnat and DLF3 Decoy Launchers
Sensors: Type 1007 and 1008 Navigational Radar
Type 996 Surveillance and target indication Radar
2x Type 909 Sea Dart tracking Radar
UAT Electronic Surveillance System
Type 2050 active sonar
Aircraft: Lynx Mark 8 helicopter (armed with Sea Skua anti-ship missiles, Stingray anti-submarine torpedoes, Mark 11 depth charges, machineguns)
Propulsion: Combined Gas and Gas turbines, 2 shafts, 2 turbines producing 36MW

The price is negotiable, but implied at something below but approaching US$100 million per unit, or perhaps significantly less if a significant number are desired.

(OOC: I'm afraid I can't tell you more specifically than the complement (crew) of 287. How many men are required to be employed in maintaining the vessel off duty I am not sure. We presently operate with very low support levels, being engaged usually in little high-intensity operation and trusting civilian contractors with a lot of upkeep. Maybe some expert about the place can tell you more about what it takes to keep a single destroyer operational? [looks around])

If we do indeed purchase your ships it will be in a limited quanity, as we do not have the money, or man power to run many ships

Of course. Ideally the destroyers would actually be transfered at a rate of one or two vessels every six months, anyway, to allow for the completion of sea trials in the Type 45 Class.
For Britain's part, there is no great rush to complete any deal.

The Compassionate Dictatorship of La Habana would like to praise you on your efforts to construct a strong military. your army is large compared to the size of your population, which is impressive. and the modern technology used is also worth praise. The Compassionate Dictatorship of La Habana does not have a conventional military force, we rely on the People's Militia which currently numbers approximately 500'000'000 male and female volunteers. This force is trained in guerrilla warfare and conventional warfare, and is extremely loyal to the state and their country. Each Militia member is armed with an AK 47, a 9mm pistol, and three grenades, and an RPG-7 or SA-7 shared between each patrol of 12 men. La Habana's S3 (State Security Service) is the country's secret police/special forces. which currently numbers 10'000 men and women. each armed with an AK 74 and .45 pistol, each with laser sight, C4 explosives, and tear gas grenades. Does Canan's military forces have a special forces division?
Canan
22-06-2004, 23:25
not at the moment. Our first goal is to estabilish a strong coventional force and then in the future we will more than likely work on estabilishing special forces.

Terra is interested in providing the nation of Canan with three Romeo-class Diesel Submarines. These vessels are old, but have been well maintained. If purchased, we will overhall the engines and most of the major systems, restoring them to original quality. As they are due to be sold for scrap (they've been sitting in storage for 40 years), the price is fixed at 20 million per vessel. This includes plans for constructing the torpedoes that this sub uses.

My nation is based on a party majority in several small democratic governments, aswell as several hardcore members, with a variety of weapons. We have no aircraft, or major ships, or missles. our nation relies on terrorism, and gurella tactics to thwart off enemies.

Very well then. Please contact us if you ever acquire the funds to purchase these vessels; we'd be happy to train your men in their use. Good luck!
