After unvailing the new FI-5 Black Widow interceptor to the East Coast Federation today, the ECF immediatley place an order for $10,000,000,000 (10 Billion Dollars) worth of the new fighter/interceptor aircraft from the Federation of Furion Sects. For the Furion Sects (and the aircraft's developer, Alistair Military Aeronautics) this means a huge contract for 2194 FI-5's. An additional aircraft (bringing the total to 2195) was given to the ECF as a token of graditude for the huge order.
However, later differences over military doctrine nearly destroyed the huge deal. The FFS was able to save negotiations after agreeing to a proposition from the ECF to convert the FI-5's into the FI-5B Black Strike ground attack variant. The neccasarry hardware and software for the conversion was sold to the ECF for $1,000,000,000 (1 Billion Dollars).
The Furion Sects will use this money as futher economic stimulous for the defense industry, a sector that is currently taking off at an unprecendented pace amid the FFS's bid to become a major military power in their region. Among the priorities for the money, furthering the industrial base allowing production of as many weapons as possible at home, thus providing work for the people and tighter control on arms.
Alistair Military Aeronautics has been given permission by the government to continue selling to FI-5 to any interested parties, provided they do not include the Black Widow's highly classified XRR-47 Doppler Phase Scan radar system, or the Mk.IV Battle Data Link system.
