By order of the Bonstocknian parliament, the Bonstocknian compulsory military service is beeing replaced by a smaller "training" system, and no longer will in peacetime conscripts serve in active combat or active support units.

"Recent security evaluations have forced this into happening," said a military spokesperson on condition of anonymity. "We will have a much better military without conscription. Our soldiers will be more motivated, and this will lead to better battlefield performance."

The task, now, is to restructure the Bonstocknian military. According to credible sources, anywhere from half to three fourths of the Bonstocknian military is slated for deactivation.

The rest will be highly trained, rapid deployment forces designed to keep pace with current security and defense threats.

"So far, no major power seems a odds with the Federal Republic," said another military spokesperson. "We no longer have significant need for a large military, which will merely become more and more unwieldly."

Asked whether the move could possibly endanger Bonstocknian security, he said, "We think that this move will help Bonstock adapt to current situations."

Of course, this means Bonstock is in need of new military units. The military needs a new, capable multirole fighter plane to replace the F-15s and A-10s now in service, a new Light Armored Vehicle with rapid deployment capability, a new advanced destroyer, a new general purpose vehicle to replace the HMMWV.

The Fighter plane proposed by the military must be capable of air superiority, tactical ground attack, deep penetration strike, and reconnaisence. It must have a maximum altitude of above 100,000 feet, a rate to climb better then the F-15, a low Radar Cross Section (RCS), a top speed of Mach 3, and must be able to travel slow to attack ground targets. It should be low maintenance, relatively good feul economy, and have advanced targetting systems and a boom-dock refeuling method. It should be aircraft carrier capable and capable of short take-offs from highways as well. The Bonstocknian Air Force and the Bonstocknian Navy are preparing to order vast quantities.

The LAV proposed by the military must be a readily adaptable machine, with high speed, high feul economy, low maintenance requirement, and capability to handle any possible terrain. It should come in multiple versions: a infantry carrier, an armored 120mm gun, a 155mm artillery cannon, a supply ferry, an armored ambulance with hospital capabilities, a signals vehicle, a command vehicle, a chemical recon vehicle, a general recon vehicle, anti-air, engineering, anti-tank, recovery, repair assistance, and artillery spotting. It should be amphibious, it can be either tracked or wheeled, it must be able to function in really low or really high temperature, and it must be easy to convert from one use to another. Large orders are expected from the Bonstocknian Army and the Bonstocknian Marine Corps.

The destroyer proposed by the Navy must be able to funtion anti-ship, anti-air, anti-sub, and shore bombardment. It must have cruise missiles for deep attacks on high value targets, and must be able to project power ashore. It must have a top speed of around 40 knots, be able to ferry troops, and have a small hanger to carry an anti-sub helicopter.

Also, a new general purpose vehicle is proposed to replace the HMMWV. It must have capabilities greater then the HMMWV, and must be able to carry passengers, tow artillery pieces, and function in all the roles taken by the HMMWV and more.

No information on the exact quantities of the order are avaliable to the public, but they are expected to be large.

The CY-X1 looks good... in fact, future threats are not really requiring such high altitude, so this might be the thing for me.

As for the EFV, I think its a little heavy for what I'm looking for.

If you train the best soldiers, why send them into combat with...less than disirable arms. Why dont you send them in with
state of the art weaponry that costs less to Mr. and Mrs. Taxpayers. Look no further for these weapons. Also look for our
troop support APC, IFC, and Medical vehicles, and our new FIGHTER AIRCRAFT:

Well nromally i would put forward my Stoat LAV as a contender but its artillery version only mounts a 105mm gun (although if you have a new super light weight 155 handy...) and i currently don't list a mobile gun version (although one is fully possible, either using the straight 120mm from the various LAV version or possibly one of my 103mm ETCS or even soemthing more extreme like a 70/120mm gun system (70mm round with 120mm propellant charge, has something like 2-3times the velocity of 120mm rounds when you use sabot ammo)).

Dbts/C/PT Stormbringer Attack Jet

In my opinion, WWII was the pinicle of military aviation. No aircraft will ever have the same effect on me as th Hurricane, Spitfire (mark IX especially), Bf-109, Fw-190D, Yak 9, Mustang... but they have obvious modern successors. What seems to be a little lacking is the heavy attack fighter. The A-10 used to perform that role but it's a little dated, what will take the place of the Mosquito, Il-2, Stuka, Typhoon, and thunderbolt? It's quite simple. The Stormbringer.

Don’t just destroy your enemies . . . shred them. Dbts/C/PT is proud to present the Stormbringer attack jet, a design that takes airborne cannon to a new level. Built around four recoilless 57mm cannon, the Stormbringer packs an unparalleled punch against soft targets like headquarters, moving infantry, or truck convoys. It’s underwing hardpoints and armour piercing ammunition make it a capable tank killer, and its advanced multi-sensor systems make it highly flexible. For those bored with A-10 knockoffs, the Stormbringer is for you.

Propulsion and Aerodynamics
The Stormbringer is powered by a pair of high-efficiency turbofan engines located beneath the tail. Either one is powerful enough to keep the plane in the air, giving extra security in the combat environment. High fuel efficiency gives the Stormbringer a range of 1500 km without drop tanks. The Stormbringer has variable sweep wings, giving a maximum speed of Mach 1.2. Despite it's supersonic speed, most pilots prefer to conduct attacks with the wings extended, giving the aircraft unparrelleled manouverability and stability as a gun platform.

Crew Operations & Sensors
The Stormbringer is a single seat airplane. Advanced automation reduces the pilot's workload, allowing for longer mission durations. HUD and HOTAS (Hands on Throttle and Stick), as well as a helmet-mounted sight for the laser designator are standard. A multi-channel programmable communications suite allows the pilot to contact ground units and allied forces, as well as the usual air force frequencies. The Stormbringer has only a basic air search radar system. Give a pilot anything more, and he starts to think he's a fighter jock. To compensate, the Stormbringer mounts a trainable IR sensor, video camera with low-light capabilities, and laser designator with spot tracker (so it can see targets designated by other lasers). Additional sensor packages can be carried on a hardpoint.

Weaponry
The Stormbringer, unlike many attack aircraft, is optimized for attacks on bunkers and infantry units, while retaining a strong anti-tank capability. Each of the Stormbringer’s wing roots mount a pair of 57mm rotory recoilless automatic cannon. Each cannon has a rate of fire of 150 rounds per minute. Internal magazines hold 250 rounds. The standard ammunition mixture is three HE shells to one HEAT shell, but this may be varied at the customer’s discretion. The shells, though they may not have as high a velocity as smaller cannon, deliver such a large warhead that it's imaterial... no tank can take repeated 57mm strikes to the roof and rear. Firing the cannon also produces spectacular and intimidating tongues of flame streaming from the rear of the aircraft. Wingtip rails also allow the mounting of IR missiles, while 4 underwing hardpoints are rated at 500 lb each, and are capable of mounting drop tanks to extend the Stormbringer's range.

Defensive Systems
The Stormbringer mounts all of the traditional defensive systems: radar warning receiver, ECM, chaff and flare dispensers. Should these fail, the cockpit and engines are armoured against 30mm shellfire and the remainder of the airplane against 12mm bullets. Pilots have remarked that the cockpit is remanicent of a cast iron bathtub. Aditionally, the Stormbringer mounts extencive redundant systems which allow it to remain in the air even after recieving normally crippling damage. The old quote about 'flying home on a wing and a prayer' just doesn't apply... the prayer is unnessisary! The Stormbringer also mounts a fixed rear-firing 20mm cannon. Why did we do this? Do we actually expect people to score kills with this weapon? well... not as such. But in a lowlevel dogfight, it gives an important psychological advantage. Most pilots prefer to get on their targets tail, but that's far more difficult when 20mm tracers are flitting by your cockpit! To make this even more effective, EVERY shell in the rear cannon is a tracer. In addition to standard ammunition and tracers, the rear cannon can fire chaff and IR flare rounds. The chaff round produces a cloud 9 square meters in area, and the IR flare has a duration of four seconds.

I hear you asking if it is stealth. Not really. Stealth is wildly overused, and if we were to make this aircraft stealthy, the price would most likely double. Stealth is irrelevent, really, for this kind of mission... hopping over bushes and trees, flying low and slow, and interdicting supplies and reinforcements, or striking at tank battalions from the rear... SAMS are virtually useless, since the airplane will usually be underneath the radar's horizon. Nevertheless, we have attempted to reduce the radar signature of the aircraft as much as possible, especially the engine intakes and the tail, while the IR signature (when subsonic) is very difficult to detect.

Land Variant: $30 million
Naval Variant (with arrestor hook and strengthened landing gear): $35 million.

Dbst/C/PT “Pack Rat” Modular Tank System (MTS)

Do your specialized vehicles gather dust at home? Have you ever actually used an entire platoon of flamethrowers? Now, Dbts/C/PT offers you unparalleled flexibility for your armoured forces. The Pack Rat Modular Tank System makes every tank a potential specialist, without reducing your MBT firepower.

The Modular Tank System is based on a common 45 ton chassis with interchangeable turrets, armoured to the same level as an M1 tank (using more sophisticated materials). None of the turrets are heavier than 20 tons, which means they can be lifted by any modern recovery vehicle and changed IN THE FIELD. There’s no waiting to get back to base, and no specialized lifting equipment. Reserve turrets can be carried on specialized semi-trailers or the Dbts/C/PT Ar-3, which can also perform the switch. We like to think of this system as the military version of “Plug and Play” – or the Swiss Army Tank (not to be confused with the real Swiss army tank, the S-tank).

Standardized Chassis
Dimensions: 9m x 3.5m x 2 m
Weight: 45 tons
Engine: 1500 hp diesel-electric
Speed: 60 km/h (44 km/h cross-country)
Armour Protection: 800mm RHA vs. SABOT and 1200mm vs. HEAT frontal, with proportional protection to the side and rear.
Price: $2.5 million

The Black Rat chassis mounts two smoke grenade launchers for self-defence. Ammunition storage in the hull is a standardized cellular system. One ammunition cube can hold one 155mm round, or two 120mm rounds, or eight 40 mm shells. For a small price, the storage area can be fitted with piping that will accept flamethrower fuel tanks of the same size. There are 15 cells of ammunition storage, accessible through individual hatches in the rear deck to facilitate loading (and double as blow-out panels in case of a critical ammunition failure). The hybrid diesel-electric engine, although giving a slightly reduced maximum speed, improves fuel efficiency by 20% and allows silent airless running for 20 minutes, not to mention giving higher peak power than a standard engine of its size. The hull also contains a ballistic/command computer running three processors at 1.5 gigahertz with a Linux OS and armoured LAN port. Turret-specific software is automatically downloaded to the hull when the turret is connected.

Turret Types
All turrets, as a matter of course, include a laser rangefinder, infra red sights for gunner and commander, TV augmentation (300 degrees), weather sensors, and integrated communications suite.

Anti-Tank Turret (20 tons):
This is a standard anti-tank gun, with an auto-loading ECT 120mm smoothbore cannon and flexible .50cal machinegun. Armour protection is similar to that on the hull. Crew: 2
Price: $1.5 million

Automatic Cannon (15 tons):
For operations against infantry and light armour, as well as aircraft. This turret mounts a six-barreled electrically-powered rotary cannon (40mm). Maximum elevation is 65 degrees. Standard ammunition mix includes AP-I-T (Armour Piercing/Incendiary/Tracer), HE-I (High Explosive/Incendiary), and Dbst/C/P&T’s own FAPDS (Frangible Armour Piercing Discarding Sabot – designed for use against aircraft). Crew: 2
Price: $1 million

Assault Gun (20 tons):
A short-barreled auto-loading 155mm howitzer with limited elevation. Usable primarily for close support. Due to the larger gun and ammunition, not to mention the enormous auto-loader (please, don’t mention it), this turret is only armoured against 40mm projectiles. Crew: 2
Price: $1.25 million

Mortar (12 tons):
The only indirect fire weapon currently available for the Black Rat, this open-topped turret mounts an automatic 120mm mortar which can fire standard VT shells, or top attack munitions with the Dbts/C/P&T laser guidance system. Crew: 2
Price: $1 million

Flamethrower (18 tons):
For enemies that really burn you up. This turret mounts a high-pressure variable-flow flamethrower, along with a co-axial .50cal machine gun. This turret is protected not only by standard armour, but by a heavy ceramic heat shield for the front. A grenade launcher is mounted on the roof fires incendiary or white phosphorous rounds. Crew: 2
Price: $1.25 million

Turret Carrier Semi-Trailer (carries two turrets): $120,000

One hull, and one of each turret: $7 million

One hull, one of each turret, and enough Semi-Trailers to carry them: 7.3 million

Quotes for custom turret designs are available on request.

Dbts/C Sdkfz -A

NOTE: THIS IS NOT AN IFV. I AM SICK AND TIRED OF BLOODY IFV’S. THEY TURN POWERFUL INFANTRY UNITS INTO WEAK ARMORED ONES AS THE INFANTRY RELY ON THEIR IFV’S FOR FIREPOWER AND OFTEN REFUSE TO DISMOUNT. THIS PHENOMENON STARTED WITH THE SOVIET ARMY, BUT THE AMERICAN ARMY SUFFERS FROM IT TO.

Now that that’s over with, no one will ask why it doesn’t have a bigger gun or more armor. Also, eliminating a big gun and missile tubes make it… you guessed it, dirtier and cheaper, just the way we like it.

For this design, we are going way back to the German Sdkfz type vehicles from WWII. They are the basis for the design. The Dbts/C APC is basically a long, low, armoured truck with six wheels It’s armour, effectively 300mm in the bow and 200mm everywhere else, is sufficient to stop small arms and light anti-tank fire, but really has no chance against modern tank rounds. This is why it comes fitted with a detatcheble wooden frame that allows sandbags to be pilled up on the vehicles. Not only does his give your infantry useful supplies for building fortifications, provide protected firing points on the vehicle for embarked infantry, and break up the vehicle’s silhouette, they prematurely detonate HEAT shells, adding some much needed protection to this design. In addition to the sandbags, the hull is studded with spare wheels, metal gratings and many handholds, all which help to deflect/prematurely detonate incoming rounds.

Though the Sdkfz is NBC rated, as with anything that sees hard use, and is actually meant to open, this should be taken with a grain of salt, and the troops should always have NBC protection nearby… just in case someone uses something cheap and dirty….

The APC can carry 14 men in only mild discomfort, or 20 men if you’re willing to breath in when your mate breaths out. The crew compartment is linked to the cargo compartment by a door covered with ballistic cloth, and there are 4 different exits for the infantry: the back of the halftrack opens into a ramp. A door on either side swing out and forward, and several hatches on the roof allow the infantry to scramble up on top, where the sandbags provide reasonable cover.

Although not seriously armed, the APC does have a .50 cal machinegun and coaxial grenade launcher that can be accessed from both the crew and cargo compartments. Chardonayan doctrine calls for one rifleman to man the gun, several others to sit on top of the APC with ATGMs and RPGs, while the rest disembark and fan out. Thus, the APC serves as a redoubt and rallying point instead of a shelter.

The APC is powered by a 350hp diesel engine, and each wheel is powered individually, allowing for decent manoeuvrability, handling in rough terrain, and is fitted with a water jet system that makes it, in theory, amphibious. Whether it works in practice depends on the maintenance it’s been receiving. Rigging for amphibious operations takes 10 minutes, if you don’t slack off, or 30 minutes usually.

Top speed: 120 kph on land, 10kph in water

Mass: 20 tons
Unrefueled range:200 km
Price: $1 million

This is the most obvious modification. Armor is stripped off, ammo for the machinegun is reduced and the grenade launcher eliminated. A bank of several 3 gigahertx computers (again, running Linux with a Windows emulator) are installed, along with a lot of radio equipment my engineers tell me is very high quality but I don’t pretend to understand.. Apparently there are encryption modules. VHF transmitters, jamming equipment, all sorts of goodies. And an espresso machine. So what do we have? A spartan, bare as bones APC turned into a fast, powerful command vehicle. These operate at the battalion level, and should never ever take fire. Their armor will protect them from standard artillery and up to .50 caliber fire, but any anti tank weaponry will score a kill.

Crew: 2 + 10
Armament: 1 .50 cal machinegun.
Mass: 40 tons
Special Features: Miscellaneous radio gear
JSTARS communications equipment.
Moderate EMP hardening

Price: $3 million

I’m sorry about this version. I tried to make them see sense, but they just wouldn’t listen. Who puts two 120mm mortars on a single vehicle, I ask you? My engineers did. They saw the cargo compartment, and their beady little eyes just glowed. The with the grenade launcher removed, cargo compartment in the rear is dominated by two 120mm mortars, and a small alcove where two (heavily shock insulated) 3 gigahertz computers control the fire missions and organize incoming calls for fire. The vehicle has 4 crew now, driver, commander, and two loaders. Even with the massive mortars, the vehicle has room for 200 rounds of ammunition and can tow a trailer with more. Even with that, these mortars need constant resupply to keep from running out of ammo.

Crew: 4
Armament: 1 .50 cal machinegun, 1 120mm mortars.
Mass: (fully loaded) 50 tons
Special Features: Armoured LAN port
Price: $2 million

Dbts/C Sdkfz –D
Simple refit. Remove the grenade launcher. Reduce the armor slightly. Add a trailer to the back. Make the cargo compartment airtight and have a couple of nozzles sticking out. And a couple of lengths of hose. Dbts/C’s Poor Man’s tanker.

Price: $1 million
Unrefuled Range: It’s a TANKER

Dbts/C Sdkfz –E
This is by far the most fragile version of the Dbts/C Sdkfz., and probably the most valuable too. This one is so crammed with electrical equipment that I’m not going to bother cataloguing it all. Dome of the highlights are a cm band radar mounted on the roof, radio direction finding equipment, large amounts of EMP shielding… the list goes on. Much of the equipment can be removed from the truck and set up outside, removing interference that might occur with other electrical equipment inside, and improving the conditions for the cramped crew. It can double as a command vehicle, but officers generally shun it because of it’s cramped conditions and lack of an espresso machine. Just regular drip coffee for these people. This is the ELINT truck.
