Election called in Crete

Today the Senate of the Constitutional Republic of Rotovia passed the Cretian Administration and Elections Act which calls for immediate, free and open elections to be held on the Island of Crete, a Rotovian Colony. The party with the majority will form Government and appoint a Prime Minister as Head of State subject to a Rotovian Governor, who will endevour not to interfere needlessly. The Parliament of the Island of Crete will granted the right to prepare and pass legislation concerning the nations intrests, laws and government the supreme legislative body remains the Senate of Rotovia which will act as an Upper House of Parliament, not subject to election by the People of Crete.

The following political parties will appear on the ballet form.

Candidate: General Jospeh Duvellé
Party: Cretian Patriot Party
Backgroud:
Candidate: Born on Crete a former Colonel in Rotovian Armed Forces, defecting to become the Island's first real leader of an organised armed forces.
Party: The Cretian Patriot Party was formerly known as the Cretian Patriot League, an organisation who sought to overthrow Rotovian Adminstration of Crete.
Policies:
Rotovia: Against unnessacary intervention from Rotovia
States: Seeking a single unified nation of Crete and abolishtion of individual states
Military: Favours establishment of independant armed forces
International: Pro-isolationist
Public Support: Large following amoung older Cretians, veiwed as out-of-touch by youth.

Candidate: Ms Sally Charters
Party: Cretian Communist Coalition
Backgroud:
Candidate: Former Member of the Legislative Assembly of Crete, a short-lived attempt at Cretian Independance that was replaced with a Rotovian Governor. Long-standing member of The Party.
Party: The CCC holds close links to the Rotovian Communist Coalitition and was founded by Dr Andrew Heywood, Chairman of the Rotovian Coomunist Coalitition, with the intention of removing the Island from Rotovia Rule.
Policies:
Rotovia: Reccomends continuation of links, though against any intervention by Rotovian Government.
States: In favour of reorganisation of state borders to ensure more effective administration
Military: Health and social welfare greater concerns.
Public Supprt: Enormous youth following, large support from lower socio-economic quartile.

Candidate: Mr Fredrick Peterson
Party: National Democrat Party
Backgroud:
Candidate: Low-level buerocrat under Rotovian-Administration.
Party: Formed by a loosely-knit group of apposed to Rotovian rule, however seeking a diplomatic means to do so.
Policies:
Rotovia: In favour if little association.
States: Maintainence of current state bounderies.
Military: Establishment of small Armed Forces for national defence and police.
International: Establishment of allies and foriegn support.
Public Supprt: Lacking, popular larger cities.

"The Senate of the Constitutional Republic has moved to break the Electoral deadlock by declaring a winner, thus making the National Democrat Party the new Government of Crete. The Right Honourable, Fredrick Peterson will assume Office as Prime Minister next week with the Communist Coalition making up the Opposition"
