No becouse a neuclear explosion would only go 100miles out and the earths diameter is over 8 billion miles wide, I think.

Yes, but the earth is a solid object. The beam would hit the surface and cause fusion, according to you. This fusion would continue untill it ran out of particles to fuse. Therefore, the whole planet would go up. I think.

Ever heard of a neuclear bomb, thats the kind of explosion "I" was going for.

Fission explosions are what is used now for meduin size strategic weapons,
Then you have fission/fusion which are bigger, then you finally have warheads which get their power from a fission/fusion/fission reaction.
Our NUCLEAR power plant are FIssion reactors. We can only use Fusion in weapons because the high tempetures created make near to impossible to handle in a reactor capacity which is why you always hear people babble about how great COLD FUSION will be.
Fission weapons are common and not really super strong.
Oh by the way the earths circumference is approx. 24,889 miles (or approx. 40,046.4 km)
7,926 miles (12,756 km) in diameter. .
A far cry from 8 billion.
