TNS Broadcast:

Today, Executor of Justice Frederick Benson has retired from his post in the Triumviate, due to his old age (92).

As the Tyrandis constitution requires that all positions in the Triumviate are held for life until retirement, resignation, or death, history is being made as the first Executorial election ever is held today.

There are several persons competing for the position, each backed by a political party:

James Davidson - Praetorians

Distant relative of Xavier Davidson, the current Executor of State. Currently serving as Governor of Nysia province.
Party stance: More law enforcement, use of military police to supplement current civilian police force.

Charles Newman - Libertarians

Currently serving as a Senator in Congress.
Party stance: More extensive due process, less restrictive laws.

Quentin Moore - Environmentalists

Political activist.
Party Stance: Legalization of marijuana, extreme leftist interpretation of laws.

All three are currently holding a press confrence, and are available for questions from inquiring minds.

OOC: This means you can ask questions.

For all three candidates: How do you view your country's future in military matters, and would you pursue an expansionist agenda?

James Davidson: The Republic's military continues to be one of Tyrandis's most respected parts of government. I would do roughly the same as Fmr. Executor Benson, and would maintain our army through adherence to core values, investing in the latest technologies, and evolving operational practices to fit the digital battlefield.

Charles Newman: I must respectfully disagree. While the defense of Tyrandis is paramount, the government spends far too many taxpayer dollars on the Armed Forces. Instead, I would cut back on research of new weapons and divert the income to maintenence of current systems. The savings from this initiative could then be given back to the citizen.

Quentin Moore: You're both loonies. ABOLISH THE MILITARY! END THE PRACTICE OF COMPULSORY SERVICE!

Would any of you alter/destroy religion.
(to all three)
OOC:Wanted to ask who was a communist and vote for them, but I refrained from that

On the topic of altering/destroying religion:

James Davidson: Freedom of religion is a sacred right of all citizens of Tyrandis. The only case where intervention by the government is permissible is when the practitioneers of a religion pose serious threats to other citizens.

Charles Newman: I concur with my colleague.

Quentin Moore: BAN ALL RELIGION! ALL RELIGIONS ARE INHERENTLY EVIL!

On the topic of helping the poor:

Charles Newman: The government has no responsiblity to the poor. Is it the state's fault that you ended up homeless and jobless?

James Davidson: Exactly. Income redistribution is anathema to Tyrandis's ideals. However, if elected, I would establish larger tax breaks for charitable donations.

Quentin Moore: THE MAN IS KEEPING US DOWN! DEATH TO THE FAT CATS! TAKE THEIR MONEY AND GIVE IT TO THOSE MORE DESERVING OF WEALTH!

Don't like any of them all that much. Think I'll stay home and see what's on tv instead come election day.
