Seeing that there is no government or military there, the Japanese Antarctican Empire claims the Shetland Islands as their territory.

What do you intend to do with this territory? We are opposed to military expansion as we are a naval power in the region.

We plan to have some of our population live there. Are you a naval power in Antarctica? We can be allies if you'd like, so I wouldn't be a threat to you. In any case, no one seems to be inhabiting this place so we're taking it.

We're a power in SE asia, oceania, and the indian and pacific oceans...however, we generally (not exclusively) only ally with ideologically compatible nations and your nation does not quite fit the mold (no offence). However, we will allow you to colonise these islands and wish you well in all future endeavours.

Right. Anyone have the link to Chellis RL nation claims thread? I can't seem to find it...

OOC: First of all, All RL land has already been claimed, no matter how small the islands are. I'm just an '04 nation and personally I've dozens of claiming threads and I'm sure someone has already claimed the Shetland Islands in the past, even though it's not in Chellis' thread. Your chances are minimal that he'll acknowledge your claim.

Second, personally I've no problems with your claim of the Shetlands, it's just that "claim" threads won't work, it's not like planting a flag on the soil of the Shetlands. You have to do this smart, find a nation torn apart by a civil war, send some peacekeepers and never leave, if you know what I mean.

Third, why are all those newer nations so eager to have some RL land? This week was flooded by claiming threads, Turkey, Sumatra, Shetlands, Panama, the Azores etc. I don't have any RL land, though for RP purposes I tell people I'm based in southern Saudi Arabia, Oman and Yemen, even though someone has claimed it before. The point is, you can just say you are based somewhere, you don't have to back it up with all kinds of claims. The chances are very slim you'll be at war with someone who claims exactly the same country as where you are, NS is just too big for that.

My advice, don't bother with RL claims, it's not worth your precious time as you will gain nothing from it. Find some good RP and enjoy it, you don't need nation claims and Chellis' thread for that....

As for Kanabia, we are shocked that you consider yourself the authority in that area, which you aren't.

IC: We do not claim to be the regional authority, however if such actions are done for military gain, being a power in the area we feel that our security is threatened, as we have many nations taking a hostile stance with us because of our political views. Otherwise, we do not see a problem with a nation annexing uninhabited land. We inquire as to the reason behind the edgy tone behind your diplomatic message?

However, we understand if it could be threat to your national security, and therefore you allowed Japanese Antarctica to annex the Shetlands, though another way of allowing, more like telling them you wouldn't invade them, for they were violating your borders. We understand the simple misunderstanding. We were not supporting their claim but remaining neutral in the matter, as quite honestly...if the islands arent going to be turned into a base for nuclear missiles, who cares?
