Are you exporting slaves? If so, how many people of Italiano decent do you have? We will take them all. They will not become slaves here. They will be treated as royalty in this nation for all the pain and suffering from whatever barbarians they encountered.

Prime Minister Sweeny had to suppress a smile when he read the transcript from the Generic Empire release.

"F---ers never learn, do they?"

Sweeny's assistant, Irina Solomonov, answered directly. "The External Intelligence Bureau believes they may be trying to take advantage of the other wars waging around the world right now."

"Well, they thought wrong. I want a release by the Ministry of State to that effect. We will not challenge Generic Empire sovereignty again, but we will act to prevent the use of the high seas to spread the trade of human beings. Activate the Navy, all of it. I want the Mount Olympus to head up the blockade, backed up by the Shore Control squadrons, an Amphibious Ready Group, and the Special Forces. Load the Fourth Mechanized Division into the Prepositioning Ships, and have them ready to sail. Have the 6th Airborne Division ready to deploy, too."

Sweeny cut himself off, coming to a conclusion.

"Hell, I want everything activated. Everything."

Several hours ago, the Generic Empire announced to the world its intention to act as a clearinghouse for human slaves. This is nothing more than the despicable actions of a barbaric nation.

The Commonwealth of McQuaide will not stand for this, and will consider any craft attempting to sail into the Generic Empire with the intent to conduct business in slaves will be considered a pirate vessel, and will be sunk, in accordance with the laws of the sea.

The Commonwealth of McQuaide calls upon all civilized nations to join us in condemning this deplorable behavior, and join the Commonwealth in a quarantine of the Generic Empire ports.

Although the slaves in question may not be of McQuaide descent, it is a violation of the laws of the sea to participate in the trade of slaves. Although the Commonwealth has no intention at this moment to violate directly Generian sovereignty, this trade of slaves on the open seas will be stopped.

International Waters off of the Generic Empire

Vice Admiral Ellie Fitzgerald, who had commanded a much smaller force during McQuaide’s last confrontation with the Generic Empire, stood in the CIC of her flagship MSDFS Mount Olympus and watched the various radar and sensor feeds coming in from her own aircraft, from Air Force AWACS, J-STARS, and RC-135s, and from overhead satellites. Her fleet, the largest ever sailed by the Commonwealth of McQuaide, was six hours from the Generic Empire territorial waters. Quarantine operations were officially underway.

Fitzgerald only hoped other nations would join McQuaide’s side.

She lifted a radio handset off the communications console, and set the radio to broadcast across all maritime frequencies. The message would be repeated every 30 minutes, after being recorded and translated into multiple languages.

“Attention all vessels, attention all vessels, this is the McQuaide Self Defense Force Ship Mount Olympus. The nation of Generic Empire is now considered to be under quarantine. All vessels approaching Generic Empire shores shall be boarded and searched for slaves, in accordance with Maritime Law. Vessels not in violation of maritime law will be allowed to pass with our apologies, while vessels being found in violation will be ordered to turn about, or be sunk.”

"We are saddened by your lack of economic strength to end slavery, and will happily assist McQuaide in their blockade against your archaic methods of aquiring funds. Free them or we will forcefully do so if negotiations fail."

Quick nitpick. Quarantine, not blockade. Blockades are the stoppage or attempted stoppage of all goods going into or out of a country. Think US Civil War. Quarantine, what McQuaide is doing, is the stoppage or attempted stoppage of one good, such as slaves. Other things such as cars, food, etc, will still be permitted to pass. Just not slaves.))

The Aorian fleet is simply put: frightening. This was the first time in a hundred years that they have blockaded a nation, and it was of little controversy, suprisingly. With the mighty Setting Sun class cruisers spearheading a nice, tidy formation, Admiral Isshou of the the Task-Force Setting Sun quietly awaited the arrival of the Aorian fleet in his quarters. Isshou loved silence above all else, and the speed of the Aorian fleet would cut his reunion short in mere hours. Having been the victim of a small, short cultural-revolution, Isshou loved to read novels (rather than watch television). Having recently read a Mark Twain novel, he was busy fixing philosophy and war together.

To an alien observer, the Aorian fleet is distinctly different from the worlds' others. Nothing tended to jut out just like that, shapes formed neat angles and smooth surfaces. Missle launchers resided in removable panels in the ship itself, and the rail-gun equipped cruisers only had small holes to denote their powerful missle-launching weaponry. Gun turrets, when evident, were also smooth and circular, appearing bland and uninteresting. Even the aircraft was strange: the cockpits were often in the rear of the jets, rather than the front. The wings swooped forward, like grasping talons.

It only took a few hours before the fleet came to a stop outside the General Empire quarantine zone. Isshou, now on the dark, forbidding bridge of his ship, the original Tousekiki cruiser, began to give orders in a quick, snappy manner.

"Send the Ryoko and Setting Sun out to the local bay. I want the Falcon's Talon to spew out patrols every other hour. The Castitus and her ships need to find optimal refueling range, no excuses. I want the McQuaide to receive the following message pronto: 'We are here to assist and request all known information regarding the status of geographical and demographical priorities.'"

We have more than sufficient coastal patrol and corvette-sized vessels, should you need to have a more mobile platform from which to conduct boarding operations.

We will gladly accept these prisoners, although we are currently under quarantine. The services of a certain gifted smuggler may be of use here. Have the slaves ready and he will deliver the money.

Rcio Clemenzia was a smuggler. He was a damn good one at that. In all his years of trafficking he had only been stopped once of the coast of England. He could get anything over any border land, sea, or air. He faced an unusual job today. One that he had never had the priveledge of doing: trafficking humans. The blockade he would run would be signifigantly larger than any he had run before. But his ship was fast and inconspicuous. He also had an edge in that he had papers that claimed he was an American citizen. No one could touch him even if they wanted to with those. No one knew his face, either, so this would be unneccessary. His ship was laden down today with 1,000 prime specimens all unconscious and concealed well. He would make the deadline and would make a nice profit too.

Aegean Sea

Navy Lt. James Broeshnev was an ambitious and eager officer, and a damned fine sailor. His father, a former Lithuanian sailor who’d seen more than 8 escort missions in World War II, had raised a family of sailors, James being the youngest.

From the bridge of the Israeli-built Saar-V Corvette, Broeshnev surveyed the stormy Aegean Sea. He relished his command, as not every day do you find a Lieutenant in command of his own vessel. From the command console, Broeshnev had access to the radar feeds from his own ship, and the many other McQuaide platforms in the theatre. He also had access to some 65 years of combined sailing experience from his crack crew of men and women.

And today, he was hunting quarantine-runners.

Rico Clemenzia stood on the deck of his vessel. He was clad in sea rags and an old sailors cap. He had the look of a man one would wish to face in an alley on a dark night.
"How long until we reach the blockade?" he asked his lieutenant.
"half an hour sir."
"And our decoy cargo is in shape?"
"Yes, sir"
"good. well make this yet."

The small freighter sped towards the blockade. They would waltz right through and no one would be the wiser.

At 12:00 am, the order was given for the naval armada to leave the port town of Bari. The one hundred and thirty ships moved northwest up the Adriatic Sea toward The Generic Empire. The land border with The Generic Empire ((OOC: I border the former Yugoslavia…But I don’t know where you country extends too)) was overlooked by the 720,000 freshly deployed soldiers of the 57th army ground army stationed in Venice.

At half an hour out, Lt. Broeshnev decided that it was time to contact the vessel moving towards the quarantine line.

He flipped the radio switch, transmitting across all maritime frequencies:

"Attention, vessel moving on a tack of 270 degrees, speed 9 knots, at coordinates <enter coordinates>. This is MSDF Ship Zubrin. We are approaching you as part of the legal quarantine. Upon our approach, heave to and prepare to be boarded."

Broeshnev then turned to his XO, and ordered the ship to take an intercept course and move at 25 knots to intercept. He then ordered the small Gazelle helicopter to prepare for launch, to assist in the boarding operations.

Finally, Broeshnev brought up the 1MC system of the vessel, making the general announcement, "Bring the ship to condition Yankee, and prepare for boarding operations."

Clemenzia heard the voice crackel over the radio on the bridge of his freighter.
"Tell them that we are preparing to be boarded," he said calmly to his second.
"The rest of you, go down to the hold and make sure the compartments with our cargo are properly locked and concealed. No naval officer yet has been able to spot them and this wont be the first time."

"Aye, sir."

Ahmed Mahkmoud led a Generian official before his newest stock. He was a bent over, old man, sporting a gold tooth and a heavy Arabic accent.
"Do you like my new stock?" he croaked leading the younger man before a cage full of African tribesmen.
"Good warriors, yes? Born in Africa, yes? You like, you like? Or maybe you prefer women, yes? Come look I have fine supply of many beautiful women. Every race and shape here. Young girls too. Twelve to thirty-seven they are. Perhaps a treat for the Emperor. Or yourself maybe, yes?"

The official was visibly tempted.
"I'll take three, that one, that one, and that one right there. Oh for the emperor of course..." He added quickly.

"And 30 of the Africans to serve as warriors. Or target practice, God knows what the military does with them."

"Excellent," the old man crooned. "That will be $13,800. American of course.
The official paid the man and left, leaving the men to be picked up later, but taking the women home himself.

Broeshnev smiled as he saw the ship's wake diminish, and heard their second in command communicate that they were prepared to be boarded.

Broeshnev switched on the 1MC again, broadcasting an announcement across the ship. "Boarding party to the motor launch."

The small, nimble craft carried the 12-man boarding party and their equipment over to the freighter quickly. The party came aboard, lifting a large crate onto the deck. Inside was an ultrasound survey system, an ultra-sensitive microphone system, and assorted survey gear. While three masters-at-arms remained on deck with their G-36 assault rifles at ready, the rest of the party began taking measurements of the ship's width and checking deck cargo.

Once satisfied with the condition of things topside, the team went below. Once there, they began inspecting cargo and crew berthing before setting up the ultrasound and microphone system. The ultrasound would be able to distinguish if there were compartments beneath the deck, while the microphone could filter out ship sounds and search for the sounds of humans breathing, moving, or even the sound of a human heartbeat. Originally designed for disaster rescue, the system had been quite handy at finding illegal immigrants attempting to enter McQuaide.

APCs crawled through the wide thoroughfares and men bearing AK-47s marched in phalanx past the towering skyscrapers of the financial district. Women and children peered out from behind doors and windows hiding themselves from the soldiers. It was unusually quiet for late afternoon in the capital. Once more this was a nation drawing its breath before a headlong plunge towards calamity.

Well, either way, we have already issued a statement that slaves sold are not to be freed en masse or used for any purpose other than slavery. Also we do not currently have any homosexual slaves to our knowledge. If we did we probably would not know or care to know as sexual orientation is not something the traders check for. It is assumed, therefore, that all of our slaves are heterosexual.

Rico Clemenzia watched the 12 man inspection team nervously. The equipment they used was something that he had never seen before. It was very likely that they would find something. He put his hand discreetly inside of his coat and clutched the small Mac-10 concealed inside. He breathed heavily. If they found something then he would be arrested. He had been to prison before. He would rather die than go back to one of those hell holes. There were only 12 of them. If his men caught them off guard they could possibly overpower them. The rifles they carried were powerful though. He would need to be very quick or he would find a crater in his chest. His men had armaments stored all through the vessel: shotguns, uzis, even assault rifles. "We can make it," he thought as he looked around at the rest of his men. He signaled discreetly to the others to get ready. 2 of his men went up to the bridge to get the others.

The sailors quickly opened the arms closets on the bridge and broke out 10 AK-47's and 12 sub-machine guns. They moved down quietly to the hull where the McQuaid men were inspecting. In less than 5 minutes the smuggler's 30 man crew had assembled out of sight. The mcQuaid men were busy inspecting with their fancy equipment, they were not expecting anything from these sailors. It was time to do things the old fashioned way.

Rico pulled the Mac-10 from his coat and unloaded at the commander's head. The other sailors opened up on the team. Shotgun blasts and the chatter of AK-47's broke the quiet air in the hull. Bullets ricocheted off the hull walls. The McQuaid soldiers opened fire with their G-36 assault rifles. Rico's lieutenant was ripped apart by the gunfire. Another sailor's chest opened up when hit with a slug from the McQuaid assault rifles. The bullets tore into the McQuaid soldiers.

Chief Gunner’s Mate Andrei Nikolai snapped off three quick round from his CZ-100 sidearm before diving for cover behind a crate of machine parts. He called for his team to take cover and return fire. He didn’t know at the time that all but four of the boarding party remained. Fortunately, two of the masters at arms with their assault rifles had been spared, and were returning a brutal amount of fire from concealed positions.

Suddenly an overhead light was struck, and the cargo compartment suddenly bathed in red emergency lighting. Nikolai lifted the radio receiver off the webbing on his flak jacket, and called into it.

“Boarding Party to Zubrin, Boarding Party to Zubrin! Taking heavy fire! Repeat, heavy fire! Many men down! Help us!”

Instantly, two triple-mounted .50 cal BMG turrets opened up, followed by a dual-mounted 20mm cannon mount. The deck and bridge of the freighter was instantly peppered with the armor piercing and explosive rounds, making a deadly environment for any exposed.

After barking his string of orders, Broeshnev went onto the 1MC system to give a command not given in over two hundred years.

“All hands, prepare to board!!!”

Within minutes, the Zubrin had come alongside, and sailors from the ship began to bound onto the freighter like it was the 1700s. The new boarding party was armed entirely with G-36 assault rifles and Remington pump-action shotguns. Those with G-36s had bayonets attatched, and every intent to use them. The crew had listened over the radio as Chief Nikolai, the grandfather of the ship, begged for mercy before being killed. Now, 55 members of his crew were demanding their revenge. In unison, as they stepped towards the hatches, they chanted, loud enough for their enraged voices to travel down into the bilges of the ship.

“BLOOD! BLOOD! BLOOD! BLOOD! BLOOD!”

After repeating the word five times, they fell silent, creeping into the hatches to hunt their prey.

hearing the Signal from the Boarding Party, the UKNV Old Oak (CVEN 7), Which was just 3 Miles from the Blockade, deployed one of it's Stormrider Battle Armor Sqaudrons (10 Armors) to the Freighter. they Bounded off the Deck, and Activated there Flight Packs, boosting them over in Under 5 Minutes, Firing there .50 Calibre MGs and Tactical Lasers at the Enemy Sailors.

Rico grinned in the pitch blackness. He snuck up behind the man and soundlessly slit his throat. Silence. He dragged the corpse and hid it behind a stack of cargo crates, and continued his hunt. He stopped suddenly and stealthily hid behind another stack of crates. A patrol of 2 soldiers walked past him. Perfect. One of the men trailed behind. Rico crept up and buried a blade in his throat without a sound. The other man looked around in the darkness for his comrade. Nothing. Lt. Broeshnev could hear intermittent firing throughout the ship, as his sailors fought the smugglers. A battle like this had not raged since the days of sail, and Broeshnev could feel a sense of history flowing through him. Two smugglers had already died at Lt. Broeshnev’s hands today. One had rushed him with a pipe and been blasted full of 5.56mm rifle ammo, seconds before a second smuggler had been bayoneted through the abdomen. Now, he had assembled a team of four men, and they were hunting through the ship’s bowls for the remaining criminals. Other corvettes were en route to provide aide, but Lt. Broeshnev knew the battle would be fought here and now.

Broeshnev’s objective was the boarding team’s position. He had to see if any of the team had survived the ambush by the pirates. He lowered himself down a ladder, weapon trained and ready. Once on the lower deck of the vessel, Lt. Broeshnev went down a passageway. Turning a corner, he saw the captain of the freighter. Broeshnev could tell, there was simply something in the man’s eyes that spoke of leadership. Broeshnev fired once as Captain Clemenzia charged, hitting the man in the abdomen. Within a flash, Clemenzia had covered the distance, sending an accurate thrust of his knife directly into the solar plexus of the Navy lieutenant. At the same moment, Broeshnev thrust his bayonet into the ribs of the freighter captain. The two men locked eyes, hating each other, slumping to the ground, their blades embedded in their enemy.

The petty officers covering Broeshnev stared for a moment at the scene, shaken that their captain was dead. Within a moment, however, they were moving on, continuing to hunt down their opponents.

Prior to the ITD's change in government style, slavery was legal. We have, however seen the errors of the slavery system and we have chosen to adopt a differnet path toward the protection of our economy. We encourage all slave dealing nations to end this archaic practice.

Instead, hire them off as cheap labor. Adopt a feudal system, let them live on land but pay an amount based on their income directly to the government. Require them to work so many hours for the government. This system allowed ITD to develop an incredible economy.

Yesterday, in the Aegean Sea, the freighter Anastasia was boarded by sailors of the McQuaide Self Defense Force corvette Zubrin. During the inspection of the ship, the entire twelve-man boarding party was ambushed and killed in cold blood. Lieutenant Andrei Broeshnev, the commanding officer of the Zubrin ordered his ship to move come alongside the freighter, and ordered all hands to board the vessel and attempt to rescue their shipmates. A battle on board the ship ensued, claiming the lives of an additional 13 McQuaide sailors, including Lt. Broeshnev. 23 smugglers from the Generic Empire were confirmed killed, and an additional eight wounded. The captain, smuggler Rico Clemenzia, was killed as well.

Upon further inspection of the vessel, McQuaide authorities discovered 250 slaves of various nationalities, held in a concealed smuggling compartment only four feet high. These slaves have been transfered to the McQuaide amphibious carrier Gabaldon, where they are recieving medical treatment and being interviewed to determine their nationality. As soon as possible, these victims of the Generian administration will be repatriated to their home countries. Victims of Generian ancestry will be given their choice of repatriation location.

A memorial service for the 25 sailors killed in action will be held at 1400 hours in New Dublin tomorrow, to be followed by the presentation of the Minister's Unit Citation for valor to the crew of the Zubrin. The family of Lieutenant Andrei Broeshnev will then be presented a posthumous Order of Valor, McQuaide's highest honor.

The Commonwealth of McQuaide thanks all other nations involved in the quarantine, and encourages their continued involvement until a change in Generic Empire policy is confirmed. Despite this tragedy, the Commonwealth will stay the course.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen of the world community. I speak to you tonight via this broadcast to issue my first and last response to the threats that have been repeatedly made upon my nation's people and sovereignty. As of now the nation of Generia stands against a multinational coalition. 8 of these nations have deployed or threatened to deploy forces to Generian territory, aquatic or land. These nations include, originally, McQuaid, Aori, Watertest, and the United Korean Nations. These nations have recently been joined by Culland, Communist Mississippi, The Imperial Forces, and Vanuu. It has been calculated that the forces of McQuaid, Aori, Watertest, Culland, and the UKN alone is approximately one billion-two hundred seven million-five hundred thousand soldiers. The Generian standing army is approximately three million men. These odds are highly one sided. Currently there is a naval blockade and quarantine against Generia to stop the practice of slave trading. Recently a smuggler's ship was boarded by McQuaid forces. The 30 man crew perished alongside 13 McQuaid sailors, including the very honorable Lieutenant Andrei Broeshnev. I offer my condolences to McQuaid for this loss, and remind them that those smugglers acted independently and were not or ever were members of the Generic Empire and were not acting under orders from me or any other Generian official.

Recently it has been found by this coalition that the blockade is ineffective in its duties of dissuading the empire and the talk of invasion has arisen. This invasion is being given extremely serious consideration by the coalition. The nation of Watertest has issued an ultimatum to my Empire to give up the practice of slave trading within 72 hours, now closer to 48 hours or face a massive invasion. If Watertest invades then the other members of the coalition will most likely join them. The impossible dream of the army of over 1,207,500,000 men will then be realized.

We have been been asked repeatedly to cease our practices and repeatedly ignored these demands. Finally an ultimatum has been issued. It has come down to a simple yes or no answer from Generia. Yes we will cease our practices and give in, or no we will not cease and stand against impossible odds. I have an answer for you. No.

We, Generia, have many many times been bullied and pushed around by nations and coalitions much larger than our humble self. We have fought wars with these armies, none as large as this force. We have sought diplomatic resolution to our conflicts in the past and we have repelled attack after bloody attack. Each time our nation has held fast. Today is a different day however. We cannot, no matter tactics, equipment, luck, or miracle, win this war. The odds are too great. It simply cannot happen.
But we will fight you. And often fighting for a hopeless cause and fighting for the last day and the last breath of something is all the more sweet than fighting for the birth and the first days. We have a proud heritage, Generians. Born of great battle hardened kings, and sailors, and warriors. We descend from such a vast noble line of men that it is nearly impossible not to trace oneself back to greatness. Today is no different from any other day in this fact. No matter what we always have that lineage to look back on. We will always have that noble line. Hopefully, in the coming days we can make our children and children's children and children's children's children remember us as great. I can assure each and every one of you, coalition and Generian alike that we will, each one of us, fight with a ferocity that has not been seen for several hundred years. You realize that, if an invasion of this scale occurs, this empire as we know it today will cease to exist. An entire people will be destroyed. The victors today will rewrite our history and our people as they see fit.

Barokoy being a geographical neighbor as well as a fellow government seeking to ensure regional Law and Order, the Raymzonian Dominion has chosen to involve itself in this conflict.

Despite their claims of altruism and morality, the Generians have purposely and willfully killed civilians of the much smaller nation, claiming they were loyalists to the government the the empire has sworn to topple. They have levelled a major city, killing hundreds of thousands, majority of which were non-combatants. Their actions are tantamount to mass murder.

We of the Dominion hereby support the incusion against Generia, offering 600 million of credits' worth of arms (OOC: modern tech), materiel and intelligence to nations participating in the blockade and consequent invasion of Generia. The President regrets that he is unable to commit troops, but the Barokoyan conflict and matters of interior security have tied his troops down to Barokoy and the Raymzonian Archipelago.

We also ask that other nations not involve themselves with military action in Barokoy, as doing so will only multiply the damage and casualties on the island-state. Humanitarian aid for the survivors of the Pozzo Negro Massacre, however, will be greatly appreciated.
