Nineteen days after the assassination of pro-Galdanian socialist leader Guaman Umtata, and the election of his Deputy Govenour Rupert Taimes, former socialist revolutionary General Tyson Wewé

General Wewé was a leader of the Ghanian Revolution, backed by socialist Galdania

(continued from front page) launched a lighting-fast coup détat against former friend and fellow revolutionary Rupert Taimes in the Ghanian capital of Accra.

Wewé's supporters, most of whom were in the Galdanian-supported Ghanian Armed Forces, stormed the Ghanian Senate Building in Accra, quickly gunning down loyal Ghanian soldiers and Galdanian guards with their own weapons (Ghana's army used Galdanian arms and munitions). The 199-member Senate was taken hostage by hundreds of Wewé's men, and five senators died while in the custody of Wewé's troops.

Meanwhile, in downtown Accra, Wewé himself greeted a a cheering crowd as Galdanian tanks, some adorned with posters of Wewé's face on them, filed out of a Galdanian military storage facility. Wewé condemned Galdania's 'occupation' of Ghana, which began twenty-one years ago when Galdanian-backed forces of Ghanaian socialist revolutionaries (of which Wewé was one) slowly marched through the countryside, taking the nation's cities one by one, while Galdanian ships and planes bombarded the coastal cities.

Galdanian forces were slaughtered or captured as the city was taken within an hour. The totally unprepared Galdanian forces were quickly forced to retreat within the nation, commandeering civilian vehicles to escape to the countryside. Those that could escaped from the coastal cities by boat or helicopter to one of the ships patroling the coast (as requested by Umtata before he was assassinated).

Oppostion leader Gregory Isaac has stated that while he opposes Galdanian military existance in Ghana, he does not advocate violence. Isaacs received 38% of the vote in last week's election. Isaacs has told people to stay in their homes, and not get involved in what is a 'fight between Galdania and the military'.

Britain has watched events in Ghana with considerable interest as the Dark Continent's first independent state, an English-speaking land comprised in no small part of once-British territory, struggles through renewed colonialism of a sort.

Most Britons -so unofficial polls indicate- are in general support of the Ghanaian move to total independence, but London has not been slow in expressing its hopes for peace. PM John Bull has gone so far as to hint at the possibility of a British peace keeping presence, but Downing Street has lately urged caution in reporting this speculation, stating that it is not even clear where rightful authority rests on the once Gold Coast.

The British Red Cross is already preparing for the possibility of a campaign for the area, and members are said to have sought contact with Gladanian authorities and with Ghanaians in-country.

Galdania welcomes the Red Cross in Ghana. However, we are not sure what Wewé is capable of.

The Galdanian Central Authority has classified Tyson Wewé as an Enemy of the People, and he is may be executed on sight by any citizen of Ghana, Galdania, or other allied nations.

While the Foreign and Commonwealth Office is advising against none-essential travel to Ghana, the British Red Cross is preparing this morning to send a few small teams to the country. At this stage their hope is to survey the state of the country and its people in hopes of determining the level or lack of need and to assess the safety concerns before a larger mission, should such be deemed necessary.

Several minor parties in the UK, including the opposition, have officially condemned Galdania's "hit contract" on Ghana's revolutionary leader Tyson Wewé, and the ruling British Industrial Democratic Party is expected to follow in time. Immigration and assylum policy is being re-evaluated with a view to making it easier for in-danger Ghanaians to seek refuge in the UK, which is still experiencing a massive labour shortage.

There are over 3 million Galdanian-Ghanians living in Ghana. Many of them fear racial cleansing by Wewé's forces. We ask all aid agencies to help evacuate them to safety (to Galdanian islands in the Pacific, if possible, or to other nations) while our soldiers attempt to fight Wewé's coup détat.

Galdanian forces ambushed their own tanks, controlled by Wewé, in downtown Accra. Missile launchers had little effect on the tanks. The Galdanian Industrial Core had built the tanks too well. Regular man-portable weaponry would not be able to fight these metal monsters that stalked the streets of Ghana.

"This is not a 'hit contract', as stated by the British Federation's opposition parties. Anyone eliminating the traitor Tyson Wewé will be rewarded only with glory and honour. This is merely authoization for the Galdanian First and Only Assassination Squad to 'take out' General Wewé."

Ghana-Cote D'Ivoire Frontier

The team's dark green civilian Land Rovers trundled down the track in the border regions just East of Abengourou where Echelon Ventures was setting up a small base camp to 'provide security' for an 'infrastructure redevelopment' project. The project itself was a legitimate enterprise and in return for allowing EV to base itself there, the UE had funded two water pumping facilties, and a hospital with the work being done by the Ivory Coast's government, a mutually beneficial agreement.

The initial team that was going to enter Ghana consisted of twenty four former Army special forces operatives, all carrying Sierra Leoni passports as their arab appearance could be explained by the large arab minority in that country. Although they carried a few weapons, untraceable AKs and Uzis, they were not designed to fight the Galdanians directly but to spread anti-communist propaganda and incite counter-revolution. Concealed in small compartments in the vehicles' fuel tanks they had radio transmitters, Satellite phones and hundreds of gold soverigns which they would use to bribe anyone they needed to.

Just after dark, miles from any official border point, the six Land Rovers crossed into Ghana to begin their mission. First of all they would try to find small villages and guage the level of ant-communist sentiment and more importantly try and incite the people to revolt.

OOC: Galdania, Echelon Ventures is a legitimate private Security and engineering Company unofficially funded and tasked by the UE government to perform black operations, normally under legitimate cover.

Just a question, what sort of military presence can be expected in outlying areas of Ghana and how favourable would the locals be to the current administration?

OOC: The current admininstration is supported very strongly by African and Galdanian-Ghanaians. Galdania serves as a military force in Ghana at the request of the government of the nation. The Ghanaian senate voted to send Galdanian soldiers home, but boted to keep a force deployed in Ghana for peacekeeping, and for humanitarian aid (soldiers in Galdania often serve as emergency paramedics, firefighters, etc. in addition to combat roles).

IC: Abu Dhival, President of the Galdanian Central Authority and Chairman of the Socialist Party of Galdania, has stated that he is willing to negotiate with Tyson Wewé.

However, Commander of Galdanian Military Command, Vinzer Deling, made a press release from People's Revolutionary Headquarters in Galdania City today, stating that he "would not compromise with the traitor Tyson Wewé. We will not allow victory for Tyson Wewé. We will fight for the victory of the People of Ghana."

The Galdanian Information and News Agency, Nymolovit'ka Prezpatyira yjol Vmyovsk Itrazvuljka warned Ghanaians of Galdanian descent that they could be in danger from Wewé's forces, whom GMC believes may have plans to 'ethnically cleanse' whites in the nation.

So-called 'White Militias', composed of Galdanian-Ghanaians (most of whom settled in the country after the Ghanaian Revolution) began arming themselves with weapons given out by Galdanian soldiers from barracks around Ghana.

As outnumbered Galdanian soldiers retreated north across a river with Wewé's forces right behind them, one such militia group ambushed the rebel Ghanaian forces, inflicting 51 casualties on a group of approximately 200. The militia numbered only 73.

Loyalist Ghanaian forces (native Africans who are loyal to the government) used mobile anti-aircraft guns to mow down enemy infantry outside Accra. It is not known the number of enemy dead, but estimates put it at over 100. However, this victory was short lived, as captured Galdanian tanks ripped the AA guns apart, killing most of the loyalist heroes. Galdanian air support arrived too late to stop the tanks, but destroyed at least seven enemy vehicles after the ground battle was over.

Vinzer Deling has speculated that Wewé's forces may be executing or torturing captured loyalists, though he has yet to offer any proof of these occurences.

Rupert Taimes, Govenour of Ghana's 27 million people (including 5 million Galdanians), escaped from Accra by helicopter the day the coup began, and has since landed on the Galdanian cruiser Myomilalitanka, where he was treated for minor head injuries.

The Roycelandian Government is maintaining a Firm Anti-Independence stance on Ghana, with the Imperial Foreign Legion reportedly being deployed to Ghana via Burkina Faso.

Meanwhile the Imperial Government is approaching Galdania with an offer to deploy the Imperial Guard to Ghana, to protect Whites and other Threatened Minorities in the Nation, whilst helping to crush the Coup and prevent Ghana from becoming independent or Communist.

Port Imperial, Roycelandian East Africa

"The shooting has started in Ghana, Your Excellency."

Governor-General Philip J. Fry smiled.

"Excellent. Initiate Operation Cocoa immediately."

Somewhere near Bolgatanga, Ghana

"Gentelmen, Operation Cocoa is in effect. You know the drill from here on in."

"Question, Sarge."

"Yes?"

"Who are we fighting?"

"Some sort of Revolution. Palace wants it stopped, so here we are."

"Any Commies?"

"Yes, If that will help you shoot straighter. Our orders are to prevent Ghana from becoming Communist. If Ghana becomes Communist, we initiate Scorched Earth and run like hell for Burkina Faso. Right, these crates of arms and supplies won't move themselves..."

OOC: Um, Wewé is a socialist, but, in case you hadn't checked our nation, Galdania is too! Ghana already IS Communist!

IC: Galdania questions why Roycelandia wishes to fight communism? While the abolition of the state is impossible, we share many of the same goals of communism. We are communists, only with the state existing. Any nation that wishes to thwart socialism is an enemy of ours.

Ghana is an independant nation. Currently, Tyson Wewé wishes to replace the democratically elected socialist government with his own military dictatorship.

We wish for Roycelandia to withdraw it's forces immediately.

Galdanian Jackal VI fighter jets blazed over Ghana in minutes, while missile bombers fired seeking missiles at captured tanks.

81 volunteers clashed with Wewé's forces outside Takoradi. 38 militamen died, with 29 rebel casualties.

Galdanian soldiers began to rally in central Ghana, pushing back rebel forces with tanks and artillery being stored in the rural areas of the nation.

Sixteen captured Jackal fighters were destroyed while still on the ground by Galdanian missiles fired from coastal ships

The Red Nineteen, the nineteen best pilots in Galdania, have been sent to the area, to take out enemy strongholds and keep the skies clear. They each fly Dober III fighter-bombers, the most tactically flexible planes in the S.U.G.

A regiment of Zefyeren auxilliaries has been sent to the area. They will parachute into Accra to aid resistance forces there.

General Wewé still holds 190 of the 199 senators of Ghana captive in the Senate building. Nine have already been killed or executed by his guerrillas.

The United African Republic of Lusaka

"...trouble has again flared-up in Ghana, and you may bet the co-operative's goat that the imperialists are involved, apparently unsatisfied by stealing the Gabonaise coast from its peaceful and ancient people."

State radio and papers told the same story as the TV news. Lusaka was going back to Ghana, where the UARL deployed peacekeepers during the socialist revolution. Igomo had contacted Galdania and had it confirmed that Lusakan help would be appreciated. Again the Lusakan troops were seeking to keep the peace, render limited humanitarian aid, and of course to catch any western imperialists red-handed. This time they had some experience in police actions, where last time they dispatched a militia able only to fight (and to cultivate subsistance farms, which is always a bonus).

Eight C-130 Hercules and C-124 Globemaster II transport planes were involved in ferrying Lusakan soldiers and supplies to Ghana, and again a pair of semi-militarised merchant ships were ceased by the navy, such as it was, and loaded with heavy equipment and helicopters. This time the frigate Tabora would escort the transports on their long journey around the cape. It was said that Harrier strike aircraft were being transported aboard, though this was denied by City. Certainly the aircraft couldn't properly operate from the civilian vessels, but they could in theory be transported by them.

Lusakan soldiers, many veterans of the last Ghanaian unrest, arrive near the airstrip from which they shall depart the republic for perhaps only the second time in their lives.

(ooc: I know, I know, I don't usually go heavy on pictures, but as you *may* remember, I just love that picture. It's so the Army of Lusaka. And you have to admit, thats a cool-looking rabble of a militia :) )
