OOC: For those who are wondering . . . Yes, this is a fantasy/modern -tech nation that makes fantasy/modern-tech weapons. Stats are subject to change as Integrated Auto realizes that it still has to obey the laws of physics.
This takes place a short time before the Gramal-Weyr conflict.

Weyr News Network:

In an unprecedented show of cooperation, Integrated Auto, Emulated Magicka, Highlander-Leigh, and a number of lesser corporations have joined together to create the Weyr International Defense and Infrastructure Co.

First on the agenda is the official release of information on the Mark II MBT, which has been stalled for several years as technicians have struggled to resolve one problem after another in a series of setbacks that have cost Integrated Auto several billions of dollars.

We now go live to Integrated Auto's demo room . . .

Description:
The Mark II is the next generation Main Battle Tank currently under development by Weyr International. Improvements include fully integrated biohazard and shield systems, advanced armor, and the latest in heavy ‘caster firing mechanisms.

The Mark II runs on dual Highlander-Leigh BAT engines, allowing for up to eight hundred kilometers of travel. Since the BAT engines operate on purely thaumaturgic processes, they emit very little heat or exhaust, lessening the likelihood of detection by infrared. BAT cell replacement has been streamlined in order to increase operational time.

Integrated Emulated Magicka shielding allows for unprecedented protection from both metaphysical and mundane attacks. Shields are timed to drop only when firing, thus leaving the smallest time possible for an enemy shot to get through. Shields are guaranteed to stop up to four simultaneous hits from nearly any source with ammunition under 90mm.

Combination armor, designed to blow outwards if the tank hull is breached, protect the crew from most physical dangers. Additional underside and topside armor provide protection from mines and artillery.

Overpressure air conditioning systems provide protection from biological and chemical agents. Due to system and technological limitations, the Mark II cannot be fully sealed against outside factors.

The Mark II is protected against EMP devices due to its reliance on magitech over standard electronics. The tank engines and basic firing mechanisms are guaranteed against EMP devices. All electronics are hardened against EMP weapons, and employ transistors or modern vacuum tubes where possible, reducing reliance on fragile microchips.

Cutting edge target finding and firing mechanisms allow the tank crew to track up to four simultaneous targets. Thermal, night vision, and laser target acquisition allow the crew to find, track, and destroy targets under nearly any circumstances. The Mark II is capable of accurately firing at moving targets while on the move.

Automated loading removes the need for a loader while allowing the Mark II to accurately fire up to eight shells per minute.

The three cell types allow the Mark II to be effective in nearly any circumstances. The HMCC-HEAT shell is specifically designed to breach tank and armored vehicle armor, allowing for one-hit kills. The CC-AP is designed to explode inside, and over, infantry formations. The CC-AA is designed for targeting low-flying aircraft such as helicopters.

Four machine guns function as close-range anti-personnel weapons. They can be operated by remote from inside the crew compartment, as well as by manual operation.

Known issues:
The Mark II is currently still under development. Recently, the High Guard has ordered a number of these units to be used against Gramal in case of attack. The two Expeditionary Brigades, independent of the High Guard, now contain 300 of these experimental units.

In certain cases, the Mark II shielding has been known to malfunction, leaving the tank without shield protection. Powerful EMPs can knock out the timing mechanism, causing the shield not to drop when firing the main gun, resulting in a proximity explosion that may cause severe damage to the tank. No tank crews have suffered more than minor injuries during such incidents, and technicians are working to resolve the problem. At this time, it is suggested that tank crews shut down shielding after EMP attacks until the timing mechanisms can be fixed.

Improperly installed power cells can cause an engine assembly explosion, incinerating the tank.

Old main gun barrels have a heightened risk of flux surges that can potentially detonate any shells stored within the Mark II

While EMPs will not fully disable a Mark II, they will still cause major problems with operations.

". . . as you can see both from the information packages, and from the demonstrations, the Mark II project is still very much alive, and we expect to have a fully operational model within a short amount of time," Magus Jerand L. V. Grell finished. "I will now take any questions you may have," the tall magus stated.

The somewhat smallish demonstration room was packed. Camera flahses went off, reporters clamored to ask the first questions.

"Magus Grell, is there a set date for the project's completion?"
"As I said, there is no set date, although we expect to have a fully operational model soon."

"What about the models currently shipped?"
"We offer free retrofitting for all previous models. That is stated in all contracts we have thus far signed related to the Mark II."

"Will your partner companies get equal shares of the profits?"
"We are yet to make any profits from this venture. Let it suffice to say that none of our partner companies will be shortchanged."

OOC: I hate to get this technology out but I suggest you research scramjet... you can destroy four T-90s in one shot with that... I use scramjet now for everything.

IC:
"Since there has been some confusion, especially amongst our international customers, about the main gun, I will quickly explain.

"The standard 'caster is designed to fire a beam of energy over several seconds, which makes for a tank that has to track its target for a significant amount of time. Adding to that the energy lost in the conversion, and the whole design becomes very inefficient.

"The Mark II employs a design where the entire shell is expended at once, which makes for a highly concentrated burst of energy. There is -no- physical shell leaving the main gun. The entire shell is vaporized, and only the thaumaturgic energy is fired at the target. As a result, a fired CC-HEAT shell can go right through two Abrams tanks at 700 meters."

"Any other questions?"

"Is the Mark II available for sale to the public?"

Magus Jerand L. V. Grell looked coldly at the one who asked the question. "We have been selling the Mark II for several months now. Why else would there be a price tag attached to it? "
