New Armor Development(CAD)

To revive the old project, we, Imperial Artica, have decided to continue the development of our new armor systems. For some improvements, I suggest the following:

-Helmet has full face cover that stayes on
-Suit has life support systems and climate control
-Auto targeting
-Armor plating instead of just kevlar
-Computer system in HUD
-All movement and access to computers and operating systems controlled by microship in brain
-Shield system
-Nightvision, infra-red and all other equipment like that(I don't want to make a big list of it)
-Performance enhancers for improved speed, strenght and stamina

I would like all other CAD members to send scientist to help in the development of the armor.

We have 30 scientists inbound via C17 to the lab.

Good ideas, but we should
-Make the faceplate optional(you hit a button, and it goes up/down
-Make the armor plating optional(so you can use the suit for different jos, light armor for scouts, snipers, and covert ops, heavy armor for infantry)
-EMP resistant(so the suit isn't rendered useless if the enemy uses an EMP)
-Optional magnetic boots, so it can be used in low grav environment
-Adaptive camoflage(has thousands of tiny cameras on the suit, so the suit will change camo pattern to better blend with the terrain)

We should only issue this on a limited basis, it could turn into a death-trap rather than a life saver.

I agree with all your suggestions, but I will be issueing the suits to a special forces team I have been training. There are 1000 of them, and they have been specialy trained to use the new suits. I suggest you train some special forces to so the suits can be of more effect.

Done, I had a special unit trained when we first got the idea (long time ago), I'll be issueing 100 of the suits for field testing.

I recomend you attemt a live fire exercise on one of your spcae vessels so we can see the low grav capabilities, and try it without oxegen, so we can see how well the life support works.

Agreed, I will send 10 of the special units in with prototype suits. They will be sent to one of my cruisers and will be tested in the airlock, ships corridors, outside of the ship, on our test planet so we can see how well they do on other planets.

I also think we should create new weaponary for all our units. Ones that can function on other planets as well as earth.

OK, that'll be difficult no doubt, which is why we should immediatly start.

The features for the new rifle-
Capable of firing the 5.56 (since I don't feel like developing new ammunition when I have billions of rounds sitting in wharehouses).
Ultra light weight
Built in scope
60 round magazine
bullpup
attached grenade launcher
capable of firing non-lethal ammunition
efective at short to long ranges
burst, auto, and semi auto
possibly energy based?(unlikely)

to function on another planet, the weapon would have to have an extremely high velocity, so gravity wouldn't effect it
this can be achieved by making it fired electronically
the weapon would be very expensive, and vulnerable to EMP
I say we just stick with our current rifles, but if you want to develope new rifles, I'll send scientists and help fund it
as for the armor, test are going well, and we'll be able to equip a battalion with it soon

OR

We can simply develope new ammo for use in low grav environments.

I've got some ideas for new weapons:

For planets with gravity and the like:

MA5B Assualt Rifle

Zoom-N/A
Rounds in clip- 60
Rounds fired per second-15
Reload Time-3.4secondes

A gas-operated, magazine-fed, fully automatic assault rifle, fires continuously, but is much more accurate in short, sharp bursts. A compass shows a fake "North" (actually it points to the nearby Gas Giant called Threshold) to help you navigate, and a neat little display also shows you how much ammo you have left. It's very useful at short range, if all the rounds are pummeling a single target, but its efficacy diminishes rapidly with distance.

M6D Pistol

Zoom-2.5x
Rounds in each clip-12
Reload Time-2.17 secondes

Gas-operated, magazine-fed, semi-automatic pistol that fires explosive rounds. The rounds are 12.7mm, semi-armor piercing, high explosive rounds. The scope is in the gun slightly above the barrel.

And for spacial weapons:

Laser Rifle

Zoom-2x, 4x
Rounds in each clip-N/A
Reload Time-N/A
Ammunition-laser

A small, light weigh rifle, that uses light amplification by stimulated emissions of radiation to fire the lasers. It has a power core that will last 7 days. The scope is optional and is mounted on top of the gun. The lasers can penetrate most armor.

Laser Pistol

Zoom-2x
Rounds in each clip-N/A
Reload Time-N/A
Ammunition-laser

Pretty much the same as the laser rifle but as a pistol.
