Suggested Material for Building of Magic Wands
Leaky Cauldron

Representative Ollivander would like to poll the citizens of the Free Land of Leaky Cauldron to determine a standard material for the making of magic wands. There is a shortage of wands with a Phoenix feather core. Only a young lad by the name of Harry Potter and He Who Must Not Be Named (A reward of 50 Galleons to the first citizen  who knows of whom we are speaking) have such wands. Perhaps holly or mistletoe. Assistance would be appreciated.
Phoenix tail feathers from Fawkes, the phoenix. [each wand contains 1 feather]
Other wands may also include:
Unicorn horn
Yew
Dragon heartstrings

I have found that mithril-silver [0.1M mithril] makes for an excellent etheric/subetheric conductor. Of course, if your idea is to sound cool . . .

Quicksiler has proven abundant and, according to Muktari mythology, was potent for channelling magical energy.

You can also use a Philosopher's Stone. Then again, after the amount of life-energy [read: live human sacrifices] required to make a Stone, it would be a waste just to put it into a wand. The primary concern should not really be the material as much as the patterning and equilibriums set up, and the exact types of spells a crafter wants the wand to excell at. This, it turn, should determine the substances at the core of a focus [wand].
