Mekanta's Big Push - Systems consumed by Machines
-The Urf star system
A machine chuckled as it looked over data from Urf, still not over the joke present in the name. "Urth. What a stupid name for the homeworld of Humanity. Terra is much better."
Ignoring the name mocking Humans, it looked over data in the system.

The machine looked out over the visible system and would have smiled, if it had a face. Asteroids made this system virtually unnavigatable by Terran standards, yet Mekanta's miners managed to avoid even a single asteroid.
This system was perfect for thier needs, and already Mekanta had full control over it.
But it wasn't enough for the Steel Imperium's ever-constant hunger for resources.
And for that reason, Urf became the launching point for hyperspace probes that began searching for more systems to invade, ravish, and occupy...

-"Xzar" star system
A Mekantan command probe defolded as it continued to spin towards the primary ring of worlds. It released lesser probes as it went, which begn quickly gathering information as they whipped around the system at warp speeds.
[code:1:e0d81dfd21]
System 1
Operational name: XZAR
W1-04
(WHITE DWARF, LEVEL FOUR)
Six terrestial planets
Four jovian planets
Sixty moons
-40% of moons are class 3 or greater
Twelve planetoids
954 asteroid groups
Medium saturation of dust-like debris
System resource richness: Class Three (AVERAGE)
[/code:1:e0d81dfd21]
Marking this system as suitable for resourcing, the probe recalled its drones and activated a transpace beacon, a Mekantan mining team pouring in from a transpace node.
Only five hours had passed since the decision to send probes, and Mekanta gained a foothold on yet another system...
-Steurlyng star system
Another command probe defolds. activating its beacon early as it sees a Terran space pirate carrier-like ship turn and notice it.
Several hull-conformal red rifts form as Mekantan fighters and space-capable Mechaform jump into the system, quickly engaging the inferior pirate fighter craft before ripping the hull of the carrier open with missiles.
Content the threat was eliminated, the probe released its sub-probes, which began gathering data on the system.
[code:1:a7be6b8bb2]
System 2
Operational Name: Steurlyng
Y2-10
(Yellow Main Sequence, Level 10)
Twelve terrestial planets
-Four terran class
Two jovian planets
One hundred and four moons

Near-solid asteroid belt, over 87% dense
Low saturation of dust-like debris
System resource richness: Class Five (ULTRA RICH)
[/code:1:a7be6b8bb2]
The probes reunited with the Command Probe, the subspace beacon re-activating.
Several Dropships came in with the mining ships, scattering to two of the moons where two rival pirate groups were.
Five hours after entry into the system, Steurlyng was firmly under Mekantan control, and over 40,000 prisoners were being shipped back to Mekanta...

explain? do you mean Earth?
-OOC-
Urf was named to make fun of Earth.
Mekanta, IC, doesn't respect Earth much. Any reference to Earth from Mekantan point of view is always spelled "Urth"
OOC:
I take it you know the name of the solar system Urf is in then?
-OOC-
Urf is the solar system.
They know about Sol, but they sometimes just call it "That Organic-Infested Waste Hole of a Star System"
OOC: Rather opinionated for automata, hmm?

On OOC information (since Mekanta doesn't call it that around outsiders.) and on a simple opinion.
And Mekanta's AI evolved from organic minds, so they're capable of all the thoughts organics are.
-Teinav star system
Another defold, another scout. Content the system is safe, the probe sends out its drones, only to have contact fuzzy. It looks around, noting the system lies in the edge of a nebula.

All this was followed by a scoutvessel who had just marked this system for restructuring. It quickly approached the Mekantan scout and phased back into real space to capture the drone. Cables came flying out of the sphere and ensnared it, then disabled it with an energy shock designed to scramble the electric ciruitry of the device.
When it was pulled in, the scoutvessel phased back to B-space and began disassembling the probe to learn its secrets. Soon the restructuring fleet would come.
-OOC-
PROBE ATTACK IGNORED. Damage call.
Mekantan probes aren't unarmed and electrical shock doesn't affect Mekantan units.

OOC: As I suspected. Fine, the scout just tried to disable the probe. And I never said the shock was electric, but never mind that.
IC: The scout wrapped its cables around the probe and triead to disable it with a shock as it retracted the cables again with the probe ensnared in them.
OOC: Your response?
-OOC-
How big is your scout vessel?
-IC-
-Teinav star system
The probe was disoriented by the shock, some of its external weapons disabled by the attack.
Noting its goals, it accepted its fate. Mekantan systems were not to fall into the hands of outsiders.
Without warning, the probe exploded with a surprising yield, leaving no evidence of its existance...
But not before sending data on this attacker to Mekantan High Command.
-Command, Mekantan Nexus
TacCom looked over the data and growled.
"Dispatch a Talon to the Teinav star system. Keep Transpace beacons running and point all information to High Command. I want constant Transpace scans running in case more of them show up."

The explosion obliterated the cables but didn't get through the armour. There was some superficial damage which was quickly repaired.
It's advanced sensors managed to track the transmission and now had a general idea of where the message was sent to. This information along with the rest it had gathered was sent back home.
Now the sphere phased back into B-space and waited to see what would happen next. Perhaps the next prey would be more rewarding.
-OOC-
Just a little info.
Mekanta uses a specialized Transpace system for power transmission and communication between units and high command. Instantaneous, untraceable, and unblockable. Sent directly to the Mekantan Nexus.
Sorry for that confusion.

FLEET HAS ARRIVED
MSF-002 Jormungand x 1
MSF-004 Wyvern x 3
[/code:1:942180c5ba]
Ripping through spacetime, a Talon of the Mekantan armada defolds into the system, thier transpace scanners looking for any distortions in Spacetime.
The heavily armed and armored warships moved menacingly through the system, the Jormungand releasing several wings of aerospace fighters and Mechaforms...
They stopped, thier scanners picking up something out of the ordinary in spacetime as they began sweeping the area where the probe was destroyed.
Species 1
18-06-2004, 09:32
OOC: Although you may be able to detect with those scanners where the scout entered and left normal space, you can't detect were the scout is at the moment with those scanners because it's not disturbing space. The scout is moving around to get a better look at your ships and attack if possible. And there is no such thing as untraceable and unblockable, it may be very difficult to detect or find. Hence the fact that the scout only picked up the general direction of where the transmission was going.
IC:
The scout was carefull and moved further away from the probe. Uncertain wether they could detect it or perhaps even reach it there. Getting good readings from B-space was impossible but it could tell these 2 ships were from the same faction as the probe. It decided to wait for the fleet to arrive instead of taking on 2 ships of undetermined strength.
-OOC-
Untraceable in normal space is possible. The moment something is sent, it vanishes out of normal space and is in the Mekantan Nexus, a Subspace. Your scout would only detect that something was sent. There's no real direction.
And Borg-type races aren't the only ones that adapt fast. After this battle, your ships won't be able to hide in B-space without my ships being able to tell where they are. Mekanta processes and develops data fast.
And four ships. ^_^
-IC-
The scanners could detect something strange, but it was difficult to tell where exactly it was or what it was doing.
Deciding to play it safe, the Jormungand activated its transpace beacon, another undetectable signal creating an arrival node for more ships, should they need assistance.
The three Wyverns split up, two moving to the group setting up the mining bases, and the third moving slightly away.
It sent a tightband signal to thier growing allies, the AI onboard pleased with itself as it sent the transmission in Low Mekantan. (Translated in the message, but only those who know the language would be able to read it.)

OOC: Mekanta uses ansible communication?
-OOC-
Somewhat. It's only instantaneous because of the "single point" as opposed to "point to point" nature.
Mekantan communications and power devices work on the principle that they're connected directly the the Nexus' networks, regardless of how far away they are.
Needless to say, Mekanta has hyperadvanced transpacial technology.
But there's one problem. This doesn't work if they're on the same circle of the Nexus (Mekanta's subspace home is actually several layers of subspace) as what they're attempting to contact, making them have to resort to normal means.
Of course, all the power generators used by the fleet are located on the sixth and seventh circles, and you would have to go through all the others to reach them. Mekantan ships NEVER go past the third.
OOC: Metallic buggers. Huh.

IC:
A small fleet had been launched towards the system and it had just arrived.
150 warvessels entered the system while at the same time 6 other scouts came in from the region. These scouts were still in B-space but the warvessels were not.
They quickly approached the Mekanta ships and sent out the following message.
*We are Species 1. Lower your shields and abandon your ships. We will add your technology to our own. Resistance is futile.*
-Teinav
The command AI on the Mekantan battlecrusier would have smirked, if it had a mouth.
Cocky little bastards, weren't they?
Then, how were they to know that Mekanta always had a contingency plan. Usually a contingency plan that involved heavy weapons boardering on overkill.
The machine would have sighed. Such was the Mekantan way of life.

Command. Execute program.

-The Mekantan Nexus
One of the massive brutes most of the fleet tried to avoid as much as possible turned, its scanners flaring to life. Over ten, maybe twelve, times the size of the Leviathan class Commandship, these behemoths were well known as the terror of Mekanta.
Along with its constant escort, the beast activated the Transpace departure node, blinking to Teinav.

The scattered Mekantan ships vanished in bursts of multi-colored light, regrouping a ways away from the Species 1 ships. In perfect timing, the rest of the Mekantan fleet arrived, the positioning of the fleet perfect around the massive Dis class Mobile Space Fortress. The maximum arc of it's well-camoflagued main refractor had a clear view, the Mekantan ships knowing full well to stay out of that thing's view.
Mekanta had no word for friendly fire.

The following ships have arrived.

[code:1:f6ad386dd7]
We do not sence any life forms from your ships. How interesting. You appear to be another mechanical sentience.
Regardless, you have threatened Mekanta. Stand down, or face extermination.
[/code:1:f6ad386dd7]
The booms of many of the ships in the fleet began seperating, thier deady Reflex Cannons ready to begin charging at the slightest notice.
[code:1:f6ad386dd7]
We are willing to speak peacefully with you. We do not wish to destroy your fleet.
But be warned. Nothing in the history of our navy has survived a direct hit from a Reflex Cannon. Nothing.

They were not impressed and the organics had their chance. They quickly spread out and released their 6000 drones. The cubes began the attack with a barrage of plasma bolts aimed at the smallest capital ships.
The drones themselves now sped forward towards the enemy to add their weight to the battle.

Anti-capship weapon. Like it says, used to defeat capships at a blow. Takes about fifteen seconds to a minute to charge.
And the Grand Cannon... Heh.
http://www.therobotechpage.com/grandcan.htm
Perfected. Fires much longer than the original. And that doesn't say it, but even with the original, the energy reaction isn't detectable until about fifteen seconds before it fires. It takes about five to ten minutes to charge.
-IC-
"Hmph. Very well. All ships, fire Reflex cannons. We will wipe these inferior machines out of the galaxy, and prove our AI superior."
The anti-fighter weapons of the ships began raining hell down on the drones as the reflex cannons started to charge...
Huge amounts of power began to be drawn from the Mekantan Transpace power units as the Dis began charging its own main gun, intent on sweeping the hostile presence from the Teinav star system.
The Adornian Science Vessel Hornet, on a routine scouting mission in a nearby system, picks up the battle on it's long range sensors. It immediatly avtivates it's jump engines and arrives in system minutes later.
Th bridge crew watches from a distance as the two fleets have at each other. The captain orers an immediate Red Alert and begins routing their sensor data to Adornian High Command.

OOC: :o
You can't be serious. You have 317 guns who each have several hundred megatons worth of firepower! How on earth are you going to power one of them along with the power necessary to keep your crew alive, target acquisition, antifighter weapons and a shield. But you even sport several of them on each of your ships along side guns that are even more powerful!
My own warvessel needs an artificial quantum singularity to power its weaponry and it can only fire a 120.000 terrawatt energy beam. Several actually but none the less I will see where this is going. I am curious how you are going to make sense of this.
IC:
The power surge was detected and in a response the warvessels spread out even further and now also used their energy beams. They swept them across the enemy ships, followed by a volley of 6 missiles each. As these 900 missiles flew towards the enemy the drones retreated again. They had lost 369 by the antifighter weapons and had only managed to fire once.
-OOC-
1. Mekantan ships don't have crew. The only power drain on "crew" is to keep the ship's AI running. There are a grand total of thirteen organics in the entirety Mekantan military. Eight of those are just there to get coffee for the others.
2. The Transpace Relays handle power. Mekanta uses a centralized power system contained in the Nexus. Mekanta uses several different power sources, from both Truespace and the different levels of the Nexus, stored in a central facility on the sixth circle. Massive storage devices each can keep hundreds of billions of petawatts for distribution, and more are built when Mekantan energy gathering appears to be outpacing use. Several hundred Reflex Cannons in use at once can put a large drain on Mekantan power systems.
Sorry about the delay in posting. Various issues have been conspiring against me. ^_^"

The beams ripped across the hull of several Wyverns, damage piling on until the hull couldn't take it anymore.
Thier Transpace Relays overloaded, power surging into thier systems and destroying everything. Countless small explosions littered the hulls until they were nothing more than lifeless hulks devoid of anything useful except scrap metal. Similar damage was inflicted on one each of the crusiers-type ships.
