On board the Hades, A Jupiter class battleship, a small research bay was still emitting light into the corridor. The ship was in night mode, and all the lights were dimmed.Inside the bay, an insectoid machine lay, twitching on a table, oil squirting out of arm joints. Spare parts lay on the surgical trolley beside the machine, and two scientists were busy trying to put out a small fire that had started in the machines head.
Paul Upton, head scientist on the Prometheus project, was completely confused. Every attempt they had made to connect a sentience to a body, of any kind, resulted in the destruction of the sentience.

"What is going on here? We have done the basic computer testing, it is surgeproof, every possible test has come out optimal, but yet we cannot link it to the world? What use is it, if it is deaf, dumb, blind, and cannot communicate? Nothing! Worthless junk!"

He hit the table, causing one or two sparks to leap out of the machine.
Vasily Tokarev, assistent researcher didn't flinch at all at his outburst. He was used to them. As the smoke and ozone from the wiring filled the air, its stench filling their nostrils, it hit the sprinklers. They poured on the machine, making it hiss, as the last embers were put out. The computers, hardened against the water, were unharmed, but the few notes that they had made began to run, as the ink was drenched.
Upton was enraged.

"Vasily you oaf! I thought I had told you to deactivate the sprinklers, you incompetent fool! I have never had the misfortune to work with someone as idiotic as you before now! Had you a brain in your body, you might be able to fix what is wrong with our machine, instead of gawping at it! Turn of the sprinklers, you idiot, we shall see what we can recover from this mess."

TAG, nice to see that you are using one of the ships I thought up.
