Domestic First Generation Fighter Plans

North Romakia
15-06-2004, 03:51
The governing body of North Romakia has announced it intends to create a first generation domestic fighter utilizing advanced technologies gathered from many different fighters and other aircraft. Currently, this design stands above the rest and is open to international commune. Due to its prototype status, it is designated the XFR-2. That designation will most likely change. So far, one prototype has been built while two more are under construction.

*Note in case you're wondering, my nation is actually much older but got deleted while I was away on a very, very long vacation. I was formerly Romakia.*

The XFR-2 was designed to give North Romakia a viable, domestically-built and produced alternative to the vast amount of imports. It was designed with North Romakian terrain and climate in mind and designed with what we needed in an aircraft. Our engineers spent months developing its airframe, its wing structure, and its engines. Advanced controls were also needed to keep this design stable but it was done.

Numerous technologies were incorporated into this design from foreign designs including its forward swept wings.

The XFR-2 was also built to fulfill many roles, it maintains a GSh-23L 23mm (ripped off of Soviet aircraft) cannon for dogfighting or strafing ground targets and it has an impressive 7 hardpoints that can carry up to 4000 kg of munitions (not counting the wingtip hardpoints). It also maintains numerous targetting and sensor equipment including optional FLIR, LANTIRN, and other sensor pods. On board, it carries a GPS uplink, a laser designator system, an advanced air and ground targetting radar array, and an infrared search and track system. Any type of munition can be placed on the XFR-2, including air to ground rockets, missiles, bombs or air to air missiles, unguided rockets, or even extra fuel tanks.

The XFR-2 is currently outfitted with the Flash Dance radar (off of Su-27s), IRST (infrared search and track) and TV sensors, RWR, and a ballistic bombsight.

I think you can get your old nation revived if you post to the mods or somethin. Im not really sure but I saw it happen for another guy, who got his thing deleted and then brought back.

Nice. I designed a similar FSW fighter a while back.

Ty, but I think I'll stay as North Romakia. As my old nation, we split into S. Romakia and N. Romakia after a civil war and S. Romakia joined Soviet Bloc, so N. Romakia is more fitting.

Not bad, but wasn't the Yak-28 a piece of shit?
North Romakia

Yeah it was but its engines were pretty good. But they were turbojets. So, we used it as a basis for a turbofan, which has so far proved fairly good.

Looks very good (being an airforce junkie and all) I find this very interesting, I think the engines could have been a little betetr, but all around good job!

Well, we don't exactly have the tech to make very good engines. And in our current inventory, the best we have are the ones off of the Yak-28... We could take some off of new MiG-25s or the sort, but they'd be too large.

We are willing to purchase rights to a foreign powerplant though.

I am setting up a system of my own FARBINI, Farway, and Dugahh powerplants for aircraft (FARBINI are for light, Far for medium, and Dugahh for heavy (bombers usally), this is my system).

If you are enterested, we have replased the JSF's engines with a new Farway engine for testing and it showed it was just a little out of date (out technology for in-nation is somewhat modern, but not much over), so that shows our current research and firm production.

As for rights, you could always go to my StoreFront and check out my addition of I belive two Truittian aircraft (i have like 5 others, but I don't want them sold) that have these engines, if you wish, go there for some reasearch on our value, you may us usefull, and may find us just too modern.

Also,
I could get you a MiG-29 Fulcrum engine or two if you wish, but I think it would be too large?

we have the 19,000 Lb thrust Oriel II Engine, used on the I-F.

What's the thrust of the Farway?

Oriel II, I'll have to look at that engine.

But I'll wait until I see what the Farway is and its thrust.

Not a noise was heard at Enderlin Air Force Base, the designated testing base of all new air force technologies. It was a calm, sunny day in this very rural part of North Romakia, enshrouded in mountains and surrounded by plains. Not a soul lived within fifty miles of this base, the perfect base for testing prototype aircraft, the mountains protected it from many weather conditions including heavy rain, snow, and wind, making it easily maintainable...

That silence was broken with a few shouts... And the creaking noise eminating from Hangar D-5 on runway four. Two men inside flipped up the controls that operated the two main doors which slowly slid open, revealing the dark grey object inside, its pristine gold-tinted canopy wide open and throwing light throug-out the hangar... As the doors came to a halt, the aircraft was wheeled out with a small electric vehicle. The aircraft sat on the tarmac for a few minutes, many airmen admiring its mechanical beauty. It was a triumph of Romakian design. And it was relatively advanced at that, with her forward swept wings and her advanced avionics (well to them). She was a beautiful bird...

Major Waylan Starr emerged from the hangar, wearing his olive green flight suit, adorned with numerous tubes, packets, and machines... He had his black helmet on, its sun visor raised and the oxygen face mask flapping to the side. He was North Romakia's most accomplished pilot, having shot down nearly thirty South Romakian aircraft in the civil war (he had flown a MiG-29 against MiG-21s and other MiG-29s). He was also the most accomplished test pilot, continually flying MiGs with Romakian updates. He strolled across the tarmac to the aircraft and he climbed up the ladder leading to the cockpit. However, he stopped at the second to last rung to the top... And stood there... He looked around and slammed his boot against the aircraft's fuselage... The airmen around cheered for it was Romakian custom, to prove the aircraft was sturdy and would hold in combat... He smiled and hopped in, settling into the plush seat, reclined back some 20 degrees... He strapped in. His gloved hands dashed across the controls, engaging fuel flow, flipping on warm-up valves, before he fired up the aircraft's twin turbofans, which slowly swirled to life before filling the airbase with its distinctive whining. He gripped the twin joysticks and gently slid the right one to the left, while increasing throttle, the aircraft obeyed his commands and slowly turned around, he taxiid to the main runway and sat there, running final checks, checking his gear, his plane, and his safety harness... He was ready to go, he pulled down the canopy and locked it, a knocking noise and the cockpit was pressurized. He locked his oxygen mask to his helmet and spoke...

"Eagle Tower (the nearby town of Enderlin had a baseball team, the Enderlin Eagles, so the planes stationed here were often called the Eagles), Romakian Thunder asking for permission to take off..."

"Romakian Thunder, this is Eagle Tower, you have permission to take off. Main runway, heading SE. Wind- 0 knots. Conditions clear. Good luck."

Waylan nodded to himself... He closed his eyes for a mere second before opening them and staring at the HUD in front of him. He smiled and then eased the left joystick forward, increasing throttle. He set up the flaps. He gained speed continually as he kept easing the throttle ahead. Within a few seconds his landing gear left the ground and he eased into the atmosphere... He lifted the gear. After the gear were up, he threw the throttle ahead and the aircraft slowed down before jumping forward, her twin turbofans roaring to life and accelerating her forward. He twisted his right joystick and banked the fighter to the right and swung her around. As the aircraft finished its turn it hit Mach 1, shattering the sound barrier, an air cone formed behind the aircraft before it disappeared. He accelerated up to about Mach 1.4 before flying over the base at an altitude of about 500 feet. He then executed some fancy maneuvers before adhering to his mission plan of precise maneuvers and actions, including a simulated ground attack mission and a simulated dogfight with two MiG-29 from the 35th Fighter Wing stationed at Casselton Military Air Field.

The ground attack went beautifully, nothing went wrong and the targets were 'destroyed'.

Now was time for the simulated dogfight... As Maj. Starr banked after his final 'bombing' run, an alarm went off in his cockpit, he was being painted by radar... He glanced around, spotting a glimmer in the sky to his 2 o' clock. He banked and met the target head-on. It was heading for him so he quickly entered into a quick ascension, coming up over the MiG-29. He then spun the aircraft around behind the MiG-29 and attempted to get a lock-on. It wasn't easy because soon enough, he was being painted again, he jerked out of his position and did a full circle bank, coming up behind the second MiG-29, he opened fire with his 23mm main gun, spewing fake laser rounds at the MiG. He was continually banking and twisting the aircraft. Finally, he hit the MiG enough for the computer to say it was shot down. During that time he had been skillfuly avoiding a radar lock on by the other MiG. He banked around and saw the MiG-29 dash across the sky in front of him, he squeezed the gun trigger for a split second, none of the rounds hit... He dropped down a few hundred feet and swung around then went up and over to end up behind the second MiG-29. He quickly locked onto the second MiG-29 and fired his imaginary heat-seeking missile... It hit the second MiG-29. He knew this scenario was easy, and that's what it was supposed to be... The brass just wanted to know how this beast handled. And so far, it handled well. Although it seemed as though there was some slack in the turbofans. She wasn't jumpy enough. 'No matter,' he thought, 'they'd be getting some new engines soon enough...'

He smiled and brought the XFR-2 to face the runway. He executed a few daring maneuvers before bringing it down... To a standing ovation by the 1700 residents of Enderlin, North Romakia, who had assembled at bleachers on the tarmac. He taxiid in front of the grandstand, he could see his family and the rest of Enderlin standing, cheering, clapping... Some twenty highly-decorated men stood in a row observing, many smiling, some clapping... Four seperate TV crews were on hand, two locals and two national TV stations. Waylan wasn't informed of all of this, but he didn't care, he liked it... He dropped the throttle down to idle as the fighter strolled to a stop... Some crewmen ran out and set up blocks to prevent it from rolling. Waylan popped open the canopy, pulled off his oxygen mask and gave the crowd two thumbs up, his broad smile shining from the black confines of his helmet. He shut off fuel flow and the twin turbofans whined down to a dull roar before rolling to a stop. Now he could hear the Romakian national anthem playing from massive speakers... He looked over to see a younger officer climb up the ladder to the cockpit and hand him a Romakian flag... Waylan took it and stood on his seat, waving the flag, a grin across his face... He climbed out of the cockpit and hung the flag from the open canopy to the beautiful music created by the cheering mass and the national anthem... It was a great day for North Romakia.

The first flight of the XFR-2 was a complete and utter success.

Possibly, the current engine is underpowered and a bit sluggish but it can be used.

How much would production rights be?

order confirmed. our calculations tell us that you could get almost 39,000 Lb Thrust out of 2 Oriel II Engines. of course are working on a new Engine that well produce uite a bit more power.

Hmm... The MiG-29 engine would be too large as well.

What's the thrust of the Farway?

Oriel II, I'll have to look at that engine.

The Farway Engine is just a class of engines, once agian there are three classes.

The Farway Class is usally used for light bombers and small fighters. It has veriety of 21,000lbs of thrust to about 25,000 lbs of thrust.

They come in Faway II version which are large FARBINI engines. Most Farway I engines are very fuel consuming, but have very nice afterburnners.

As for the Farway II series, I know of a good engine you may like for this aircraft (some internal reconstruction might be needed however)

Farway II V976-FW2-6B77 Turbofan with afterburrner and superburnners

OOC:
Superburnners is a type of thrust from the Truittian Airforce that isn't truely anywhere else. It gives the engine the ability to move its pipes up and down durring afterburn for better climbs and desends. Many version are out there, this is the only Farway II which has Superburnners.

Hmm...

How much would production rights be? I believe it may have an edge over the Oriel II, in terms of thrust. Fuel efficiency is another question. Although this aircraft has the ability to be refueled while airborne, we have very few tanker aircraft, only two KC-135s, of which one is capable of being flown. It can carry external fuel tanks, but that'd hinder mobility and its weapons capability, so we'd rather have a fuel efficient engine.

All three initial prototypes have been constructed of the XFR-2. One is outfitted with the older turbofans, one is outfitted with the Oriel II engine layout, and the third is awaiting engines.

Currently, we have decided upon the following names to enter final competition to name the XFR-2 prototype fighter:

F-28RA
Or
RF-28A

The North Romakian Aircraft Design Consortium has finalized a name for the project: 'Mystic'. The XFR-2, after completing trials, will be redesignated either the F-28RA 'Mystic' or the RF-28A 'Mystic'.

we have the Totally indigenius Oriel III Engine, with 30,000 Pounds of Thrust. 2 of them would produce 60,000 pounds of thrust, 1 qaurter of the Thrust Produced by a 777 Airliner. production rights are $550,000,000. aso, we believe that "RF-28A" is quite Btter, and while create more ride among the Military and Country.

Well, there is the experimental Farway II "Finbine" Turbofan Engine.

It produces an est. 29,000-34,000 pounds of thrust (depends on throttle area, controled pitch engine)

Production rights will go for 890,000 USD once it is finished. It will come with a built in exhust cooling system, to help agenst IR guided missles. This would go with the aging Verick VII Windsong engine I have in the Truittian modification of the MiG-25.

This engine would be perfect, it is very efficant and economical. However, for the stealth role of sound, it does crate a large ricashay, but that is being worked out. It also does not have superburn, but that is that the idea of the design for this engine.

The full range this could put out for an aircraft your size would be about 450nm per engine. This makes a total of about 900nm without external fuel tanks.

I will post here when it is fully out in production, and if you wish for production rights, will throw in 10 free engines if you purchase 5 or more also. (Purchases means pairs, not indevidual)

If it is in-flight refueling, I have two StoreFronts, one big one off site and one very very small one that has a VC-10 Vickers replacement refueling craft that is very usefull. If you want the URL to the StoreFront having it, or even the exact post, just say so.

Hmm... We'd be interested in purchasing 120 pairs of the Farway II Finbine turbofan...

That way, we'll outfit 120 aircraft with those and outfit any extras with the Oriel II.
