Taking the technology that was going to be used to built an aircraft carrier, will now be used to build your floating island. You tell me the amount of surface room you want on your island and I will construct it for you. Unlike other floating islands that have a maximum surface area you can have, ours is unlimited. Thats right, get it as big as you want. You may ask what allows us to this , it is pykrete. Its like ice, that is as strong as concrete but retains the bouyancy. Wont it melt you may ask, the answer is no, because throughout the island coolant pipes run keeping it frozen. It contains 2 nuclear power stations that provide energy for the residents on the island, and allow it to travel at about 10 knotts.

Hate to burst your bubble but wouldnt a submarine attack from under it cause it very much damaged?

Also, is there a way you could make it reach 15 knots in clam seas, with a 500 square foot area, shapped like long island? This could be a good place to hold naval workers for ships, less room on the ship is used for bedding.....nice, and less room for kitchens and such, that is very nice.

concrete would defenatly sink unless a lot of floatation was formmed under th main structer. And as for the polymer, it would also sink if too much is used. I belive two systems of cooling reactors should be used, but this may require more power becouse one will be on, while the other is offline unless it detects the 1st on deactyivating for maintance, damage, or repairs.

Also to answer other people questions about the cooling system, pykrete melts extremly slowly. Because of that, the cooling systems could be offline for several hours and the island would not take that much damage. And the damage that it would take, could be repaired quickly and easily.

I'll take $50bn worth and have it optimised for docking a few large ships (maybe about 8-12) with a few spaced for buildings and a small runway.

(its about 3 square miles so it wont be huge) could it be reinforced slightly too? I'll pay an additional $5bn if it is resistant to attack and has a few gaps underneath for a sub pen (maybe 2 subs, 4 smaller ones) and some underwater defenses? OH and should be able to be pulled for extra speed)

Yes its going to be afloating base. A small one, but useful for defensive purposes and attacks and for scaring the pirates that a nation spread accross several islands would encounter..

Your Order is confirmed. We will encorporate your requests into it. To reinforce it, we will put a 6in thick layer of tank armor on top of the pycrete. The pycrete is very strong and will be able to repel an attack if the tank armor is breached. for defenses, we added a few built in torpedo tubes, advanced sonar, and a few depth charge dispensers. We also suggest floating mines around it if you intend to keep it stationary for extended perionds of time. We will add tow lines, but it will take a lot to pull it.

Before we make another order, we'd like to know how resistant are these islands are to a nuclear attack.

It would depend on the size of the island and how powerfull the nuke is. Any nuke would probably greatly damage it. If the island is large enough, then some of it may be able to survive the island, but the fallout would probably kill most things on the island. Your best bet is probably not to let it get hit with one. These were originally designed with civilian intrests in mind but it does have millitary vantage points.

If the sheer explosive force doesn't rip the island to pieces with massive heat wave melts the ice and sends up clouds of sawdust that explode and create FAEB like explosions. Cooling system is also screwed up so that even if some of the island was left it would melt. :: <Not an attack, computer simulation/proving a point.
