The Esam Express, Our Nation's Oldest and Most Popular Daily Press
Esam, ESAM: King Esamius I, Chair of the Royal Council and the Head of State of the Constitutional Monarchy of Esam, declared that the Red Crown, the nation's humanitarian forces agency, is "up and running."
The King stated: "After twelve months of training in disaster relief and peace keeping operations, I am pleased to announce that the 50,000 strong force is now ready to embark upon humanitarian missions, for the good of the country and the world."
"Help from international sponsors and the government's own generous investment, diverted from the country's now disbanded armed forces, has allowed us not only to embark upon this great mission, but will soon allow us to give this agency to independent leadership, as soon as a steady flow of non-governmental income is found."
As readers may recall, the Royal Council, chaired by his Majesty King Esamius I, issued an edict disbanding the nation's armed forces (excluding a 5,000 person strong military police detachment,) and banned the "production, sale, and posession" of all lethal weapons. The nation's armories are being slowly dismantled and recycled when possible. Disbanded soldiers and munitions workers quickly found new positions available in the Red Crown. Finally, while the organization is currently under the jurisdiction of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, the government hopes to divorce itself from the humanitarian agency as soon as it establishes a steady income from other sources.
