Roach-Busters
13-06-2004, 20:04
Good day, fine nations of the world! The Republic of Roach-Busters has just begun construction of a new zoo called, 'The Zoo of the World's Weirdest Animals.' So far, we only have two animals, which are male and female feather-bellied naked mole rats. We wish to purchase strange animals from whoever wants to sell them. The price is yours to name. And citizens from all over the world are welcome to attend the zoo. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for seniors, $1 for ages 0-17, and $10 for groups of five or larger. Thank you for your time.

The blessed Concrete Donkey (PBUH) is NOT for sale. Your cavalier attitude regarding the Holy One has been noted and will cause severe difficulties in any future dealings with your nation. Why, just the thought of someone wanting to put a price tag on the Concrete Donkey (PBUH) is enough to have me execute 100 peasants using nothing but a pair of safety scissors. As a matter of fact, the Concrete Donkey (PBUH) desires it, so His will be done.

We'll sell you 200 xenomorph (http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Corridor/3119/) eggs for 200,000. Four queen eggs will be included in the price. You'll have to provide hosts yourself; any mammal the size of a doberman or larger will do. Humans and great apes work best. We highly recommend you take the absolute strictest precautions to keep them contained, as they breed incredibly fast, kill without restraint, and are dangerous even in death due to their acid blood.

You might want to keep a few nuclear weapons at your zoo. If the creatures escape, you'll want to cauterize a few square miles around their pen.

14-06-2004, 05:07
A Kelonian Guinea Pig is like a regular guinea pig, only around the same size (height-wise) as a mid-sized dog, around 3/4 the size of a labrador. If this is unusual enough an animal for you, prices range from $300 to up to £1,200 for a pedigree Tabor guinea...

We'd be willing to sell you as many or as few as you like, but no less than four, as they get lonely.

We will loan you a mated pair of feather-bellied Grass Newts, a cousin to our Swamp Newt. The Swamp Newt is not permitted to leave the holdings of the Empire, as they are a sacred animal. However, the Grass Newt is not held in such esteem by our peoples.

They will have to be returned to their native lands after a time, though, so that they may continue their line. 2 years should be sufficient time for them to be out of our lands.

The (average) height of our full-grown Godzilla is between 80-100m tall and can has a mass of approximately 66,000 tonnes. They would be extremely difficult to contain and feed.

Despite being our national animal, the Godzilla population is also radically kept under control for obvious reasons. (Think scenes from Godzilla films) We'd be willing to give away six of these creatures FOR FREE. Provided you purcahse the production right s for our unique containment system for $1B. :D

We have an animal called the clara. It is in it's netural state a silverish reflective shade and shaped somewhat like an anorexic cat that has cloven horse-like legs and feet. It also has large blue-violet eyes and rabbit-like ears. However it will only appear in it's netural form when it feels comfortable, otherwise it uses it's special ability to blend into it's enviroment. You can have as many as you want we have too many.

They have massive biting jaws and teeth. They are free. Please take two, as they have already eaten 17 zookeepers, their pointy sticks, 3 grenades and a missile launcher. What about my mitochondria? 38 ATP a piece, you think? That's equivalent perhaps to $38...but, the precious sites of respiration for almost all life comes at a price...or perhaps you want to strike a deal, hmm? If you want the precious giver of life, it'll cost...DNA, ribosomes, electron transfer chain, all included.

Actually, the cost will be $2,000,000,000 per mitochondrion. If you want glucose to be broken down by glycolysis before you get them to the zoo, that'll be a further $500,000,000. Sorry, but a sacred animal, and they must eventually be returned. They must be treated well at all costs. We'll send you the Mitochondrial Texts on treating mitochondria. Disobeying the texts will bring bad luck...obeying the texts has got my people freedom and harmony for many millennia. Each mitochondria should produce 38 moles of ATP into your economy for every visit by someone with some glucose and some ATP, NAD and FAD.

15-06-2004, 16:02
I'm aware I forgot to mention the other Adenosine Tri-Phosphate. Particularly so...reduced NAD passes electrons into the electron transfer chain, oxidising the reduced NAD into NAD (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide). An electron carrier picks it up (Flavine Adenine Dinucleotide) and then becomes a reduced electron carrier. This creates ATP. The electron is passed along to FAD again which is reduced, the first reduced electron carrier now no longer reduced. This creates ATP. It happens at least once more, and then protons, electrons and oxygen combine to form water.

The electrons transferred to the cristae of the mitochondria provide energy for the active transport of hydrogen ions which diffuse into the inner mitochondrial membrane. Then, this creates a large hydrogen ion gradient which causes them to move back out - but the only route is through an enzyme that spans the entire membrane. This causes the hydrogen to attach Pi groups (phosphate) to ADP (Adenosine Di-Phosphate, or Adenosine with two phosphate groups), creating ATP.

4 moles of ATP are produced per mole of glucose during glycolysis.

1 mole of ATP is produced per circuit during the Krebs Cycle.

3 moles of ATP are produced per mole of electron pairs transferred by reduced NAD to the electron transfer chain.

2 moles of ATP are produced per mole of electron pairs transferred by reduced FAD to the electron transfer chain.

In total, based on all the reactions in aerobic respiration, 38 moles of ATP per mole of glucose are produced.

Care for me to elaborate on the whole of photosynthesis and respiration? Can do it right now from memory if you want...or, you can pay me $1,750,000,000 for my mitochondria and $490,000,000 for the glucose for glycolysis. Fair? 100 mitochondria should do the trick, put them all in zoos or safari parks. I reserve the right to recall them should they be mistreated or hunted or anything such. Plus a fine of $100,000,000,000,000 will accompany it should they be mistreated in any way.
