"It has been long since our army has evolved to meet future demands and tactics, and so the time has come to where we must seriously look at our selves and say 'we don't need this' or 'this is going to be neccesary' and alter as we see fit. One may enquire to know the source of these evolutions; one may merely look at all the wars around them and all of the lessens one could learn in each of those. We are also adapting to fight in the 4th generation of warfare, emphasising various branches of our armed forces.
We have felt the international scene may take interest in this development, and have thus broadcast it, as we may be making many military purchases."

"Mein Kaiser, this is the best time to attack!"
"Why the hell would we want to attack?"
"Well... I don't know... why not?"
"One, we have no reason, and two, they are twice as large as we."
"Oh. Never mind then."
"Nap time. Oh, and send him a bag of popsicles."
"Jawohl."

MINISTRY OF DEFENSE DISPATCH
The Commonwealth of McQuaide is going thorugh a similar time of change. Ten years ago, our nation's armed forces were organized around a strict Soviet doctrine, using modern Russian equipment. However, this organization is no longer the most effective. Instead, we are organizing a composite force, organized around a combination of Russian and NATO equipment and tactics.
The effective coordination of air, ground, and naval forces is borrowed from NATO tactics, as is an emphasis on information warfare and the effective dissemination of intelligence information to all levels of the fighting unit. We are equipping around a core of NATO ground equipment, with reserve and homeland defense units utilizing Russian equipment. Our tactics are entirely based upon maneuver warfare.
Taking advantage of a preponderance of satellite, airborne, human, and electronic intelligence assets, the McQuaide armed forces train to find the weakest points in enemy formations, exploit these weaknesses to develop openings, then pour forces into these openings to scatter the enemy formation and force retreats.
Although the majority of equipment found on the modern {NationStates} battlefield, it is the belief that Russian designs hold several important advantages. First, Russian equipment generally has greater battlefield endurance, needing less fuel, maintenance, or support to operate. Second, Russian equipment is generally more flexible, capable of taking on multiple missions. An example is the BMP-3 IFV, which is armed with a 100mm main gun, anti-tank missiles, two machine guns, and a grenade launcher which can be detatched and used by dismounted infantry. With these weapons, a unit of BMP-3 units can act as tank destroyers, infantry support vehicles, light tanks, or personnel carriers.
Because Russian equipment is cheaper to procure and maintain, it can be widely distributed, Because of the use of Russian equipment as a second-tier rather than relying upon light infantry units, all fighting units of the McQuaide armed forces are mechanized except our Special Forces regiment and Military Police regiments.

In the Presidential Office, home of the President
Marty, the mailman of the Office, dropped buy a highly scrutinized box of popsicles, checking for any and all poisons, powders, or general alterations. Setting it upon the President's desk-the President was out for lunch-he endeavored upon the rest of his work.
When the President finally arrived, he opened the box and found a bag of popscicles-mostly melted-but decided to at least write a short letter of thanks.
