The Empire of Balrogga announces the research and development of the Torq Class ship. It will be a space craft that uses a singularity drive to propel itself.

The development will be undertaken at the SOLAR Station shipyards.

After a year of research the project constructs a prototype. They discovered a way to create a gravity singularity. The unfortunate effect upon the lab was total annilation of the prototype. It is theorized the cause of this was the interference of the gravitational forces of the sun and the planets. A new research lab was built upon the research ship The Krakken. The ship then moved out system away from the effects of the gravity interference. A side project will start to see if this effect can be turned into a weapon deliverable in the body of a torpedo.

The development of the Posigrav Drive System has continued to meet with problems. The use of the system within a solar system’s gravity wells causes the singularity to be unstable. The levels needed to propel a ship exceed the safe operational levels. Applying power to the grav generators creates feedback which will tear the unit to shreds. If this were to occur within the gravity well of a planet, it is unknown that effect it could have upon the environment of the said planet. The SOLAR Station is too close to SOL to have testing done at that location. This very reason is attributed to the destruction of the original lab.

The research to use this effect as a weapon is successful. The torpedo sized device contains a high yield ion engine, fusion reactor, and the grav emitters. The reactor powers both the ion drive and the grav generator. The targeting computer is designed to not attempt a collision. It is programmed to stop just short of the target and initiate the grav generators. The resulting singularity forms about 10 meters from the target and quickly grows until the device is destroyed, cutting off the power source and the emitters. After the source of the singularity is destroyed, it collapses into nothingness. It is recommended to never use this weapon upon a planet due to unspeakable damage it can cause. The use of this weapon should only be considered in extreme situations.

Alternate drive research has yielded a different type of drive that would work. The concept of this propulsion system is to create a dimensional ripple and using it to travel. The effects of this method of travel are yet unknown but so far it appears as if it is near instantaneous travel. There was no time delay between the SOLAR Station and the Research Vessel Kraken in all the trials done so far. A vessel will begin construction with the experimental drive at the Imperial Shipyards.

The shipyards report the construction of the Torq Vessel is continuing as planned with few delays. The target of the test flight will be chosen before it’s maiden voyage. We are searching for a likely candidate for colonization. Perhaps we can locate a candidate towards the galactic core or even another galaxy.

It has been pointed out the effectiveness of the grav torpedo is severely limited due to the fact it can be shot, therefore preventing the generation of a singularity from forming. Research is being conducted to develop a small device that will prevent the torpedo from being detected.

A species of mini-drag was discovered to have the ability to effectively trans-relocate in extreme situations. After doing extensive research and comparison studies, the mini-drag was discovered to have a different genome in its DNA. After comparing the genome to one that was similar in our own DNA, the gene was discovered that allows the Tecnomancers to access their power. The original inhabitants and their descendants of those who crossed over when the Draconic Cluster first appeared seems to posses this gene. Further research will be conducted to see if it is possible to activate this gene.

The construction of the Torq Vessel Divination is completed. The ship is being outfitted and crewed for its maiden voyage. The Divination will search for habitable worlds rich in resources that are not claimed by other nations.

A small cloaking device has been invented that will cloak the Grav Torpedo from detection for a short time. Anything beyond a few minutes would not be needed. The addition of the device to the torpedo is completed.

Research continues into the genome and the possibility of full activation. The research is being carried out by the Imperial Department of Bio-Technology. The bitek research is taking top priority.

NS time is what we call flex time. Not only do a lot of people not recognize 1 RL day = 1 NS year, but most people only apply that to certain situations. Very few people will recognize you developing and building such a thing in this time span.

All over the boards there are people selling ships, weapons, and other stuff that would take years to develop and build in the space of a day. There are also people doing the same thing with reconstructing their forces. For example, the suggested span of time needed to develop nukes is about 30 years.

I have only developed a torpedo based on the SCCAM shell from Alan Dean Foster's books. The idea for the inital drive was taken from the ship of the same series. There is a complete discription in this website:

The ship I have built will only be an exploration/colony ship. It is not as if it is a massive lucifer or diablo the shivens have or a 30 km long star destroyer people seem to want to build. It is just an exploration/colony ship with only a few single pilot fighters assigned to it for basic defense. Is 6 years too short for developing and building a normal spacecraft? There are entire nations building up their entire fleet in less time.

Also, at least I can say I created my ships through role-play. Some nations just started with Vorlon Planetary Destroyers and other massively powered ships. They are less than one month old! They would not have the economy to support those ships but I make one ship and I get "informed" that other people won't accept what I am doing.

Well, what am I to do now? I have spent six years and billions on this ship. Can I use it or am I going to be treated differently than other players because I am trying to ROLE-PLAY this out?

OOC: The superbattleship I built (I'm modern) took about 13 RL days to construct. I think it is true that nations built such impossible fleets to maintain in just 1 or 2 days. Since it is a smaller ship, and you did a nice job of RPing out the construction, I'd say just use it.

I would also clarify the cloaking technology I am using on the grav torpedo. It is not a cloaking field from star trek or any other show. Torpedoes are so small you don't need them to be invisible. The torpedo is "insulated" so it emits only the ion trail and, once it is into position, the graviton emission for the singularity. The torpedo is undetectable by sensors (at least ours but not necessarily yours). It is painted flat black to minimize the chance on visual targeting, especially from the front. From the side it can be seen easier. Most likely it will be shot down by a fighter craft using visual targeting. There is no way to prevent this.

I repeat, the torpedoes are not invisible; its energy emissions are shielded from detection. Invisible torpedoes would be an example of Godmoding.

The refitting of the Torq Vessel Divination is completed. The ship was being refitted to allow space for the addition of a flight deck for two dozen Proteus fighters, two shuttles, and four resource collectors. The addition of an automated factory to allow the replacement of missing parts is also complete. The navigation system has been improved as well as the communications and the computer systems. The entire ship will operate on Neurononics. Since the Divination will be exploring and encountering unknown biologicals, a complete medical facility has been added as well as the most advanced laboratories we can stock. The same bioreflective armor we currently have on the Proteus fighters has been added to the Divination. We have also spent the last two years training a crew of 1000 to man the ship. Many of the positions are redundant so there will not be a shortage of skilled crew. The ship has been scheduled to launch on the Emperors birthday.

Research continues into the genome abnormality we possess. There have been partial successes as well as failures. It looks like there will be another 5 years before we can expect anything usable. The Department of Biotechnology will continual to report its progress.

The refitting of the Navigator is nearly complete. The Posi-Grav Drive has been added to the vessel. The Navigator will be launched soon to search for a world that we can colonize.

The research continues on our particular genome abnormality. The researchers theorize the genome allows us to manipulate small amounts of Dark Energy and Dark Matter. An example of how this works is ESP. Using your mind you create a conduit to another’s mind and you can “read” what is in their mind. That conduit is the use of Dark Energy to link the two minds together. The R&D Department is getting close to a process of awakening the latent abilities that lie within all of us. An interesting observation was mentioned by one of the researchers. The Grav Torpedo and the Posi-Grav Drive makes use of Dark Energy to create the singularity both need.

The research will continue until we have a way to awaken every citizen within the Draconic Cluster.

The refitting of the Navigator is complete. The Posi-Grav Drive has been added to the vessel. The Navigator only awaits its crew.

The research on our particular genome abnormality is complete. The researchers have isolated the genome and have caused it to achieve full reactivation in all test subjects. The volunteers have demonstrated unusual abilities form simple mind reading to complex skills like tele-relocation. These abilities were naturally ours until human genes were introduced into our race thousands of years ago.

Stage Two will continue as planned with the inoculation of the military and government personal. This will be followed by training of their new found abilities. The crew of the Navigator will be first.

The citizens will be inoculated at Stage Three. We can finally reclaim our birthright lost to us so many years ago.
