OOC: I'm going to have it so this takes place after all the major international stuff I'm dealing with, so things won't be going off all at once.

"Sir, we are picking up some unusual readings from that new mine in the southwest."
"What kind of readings?"
"Hard to say sir. Seems like low level... everything. Take a look."
"That's strange, to say the least. Send a team to get in there to find out the source. Give them NBC protection, and our best equipment."
"Yessir."

Several hours later...

"Drill Team Alpha hear."
"Yes?" We are approaching the source of the unusual readings. Nothing in sight yet."
"Keep moving. Be ready to bail if it's dangerous."
"Yessi- watch it!"
"What happened?"
"Cavern complexe, sir. Don't know how it got this deep. I'm guessing this is the source."
"You have NBCs. If it's close enough, get to the bottom of the cave and explore the area. This could be interesting."

"Sir, we lost contact with the digging team."
"What?"
"As soon as they entered the cavern. Blank. Off the map. As though they never existed."
"Send three more digging teams and call for a military unit. I want to get to the bottom of this."
"Yessir."

8) I do at that. Could ya TG me the general storyline. I'd like to get involved but I have to see whut I'm in for.

The digging teams quickly began expanding the tunnel. They were careful not to breach the cave and further, and soon were able to sculpt a shape around it: a perfect sphere. Well, from the inside, it would be perfect without the damage done by the digging. The military unit made their next orders quiet clear.
"Give us an entrance at the base of the sphere. We need to figure out what happened to the first crew."
"Yes, ma'am."
An entrance was quickly sculpted. The squad leader stepped into the entrance in an NBC suit.
"Field Commander Atanu here. Do you read?"
No response. She turned around and saw the other were right there trying to talk to her. Clearly no communication travelled in the sphere. She waved her hand to get their attention, tapped her helmet by the ear, and gave the kill signal. They nodded and ceased contact attempts.
"Now let's see what we've got in here."
There were eleven pillars, round with a dome top. She cautiously touched it, but nothing happened. She tried to touch the dome, but some force eminating from it prevented her. She noticed the pillars were in a circle and looked up. A round panel at the center of the sphere. She stuck her head out the entrance and asked for a ladder or mobile elevator, whatever they had. With the dig leader and her team's medic, they went up to the floating panel.
They found the crew. The eight of them stood, each above one of the pillars, in stasis apparently. Atanu turned to her medic, but he had inadvertently stood over one of the pillars. She then turned to the dig leader, who was walking toward one of the last vacancies. She began to walk toward him, but found herself standing above the closer vacancy. Soon, eleven out of eleven spaces were taken.
