Crackdown on Communists in NYNJ

New York and Jersey
12-06-2004, 03:12
The battering ram swung back and then moved forward knocking the door down and sending it into the apartment. Heavily armed cops stormed into the apartment of Jacob Tashget a suspected member of the militant communist group Red Brigade. This was the first round up of suspected RB honchos since the nation had become a Monarchy sometime ago. Now King de los Santos had decided it was high time to finish breaking the back of the RB. It no longer mattered that the RB had its abilities nearly ccompletely diminished in two failed minor insurrections. This was meant to be a statement. The Federal Monarchy was still a capitalist nation and those communist countries who preached violence in their way of expanding the "workers cause" would find fates similar to those of Jacob Tashget.

The officers of the Emergency Services Unit had quickly neutralized Jacob with a series of flashbangs and shouts. The out of work actor didnt know what hit him as he felt the back end of an assault rifle slam into the base of his neck taking him down to the ground. The officers pounced on him handcuffing him quickly and leading him out of his apartment buidling to a nearby paddy wagon. Across the country those who were suspected of being members of the Red Brigade were rounded up. Evidence had been gathered for nearly two months against thousands of people and now that evidence was being put to use against nearly 250 identified leaders of the RB. They were nothing like Henry Holn, the first charismatic leader of the Red Brigade. The only man who ever came close to toppling the government.

No these were petty thugs, and gang leaders. People who couldnt organize a bingo night, and yet they were local nussiances tied to the Red Brigade by minor threads which wouldnt hold up in civilian courts. However they would never see the light of a civil court. The press was welcomed to film the military tribunals. A judge of one sat in a uniform high upon the bench looking down upon the accused before him. Pronoucing sentence even before the defendant could open his mouth, they were accused and sentenced for various crimes, whether they committed them or not. It was quick and efficant. Soon they would be long gone. The gas chamber and electric chair would assure this fact to crystal clarity. The executions themselves werent televised but the whole world saw the kangaroo court which accused and sentenced 150 men to their deaths in one day. The trials would continue tomorrow, and the final round of executions would also take place.

This paled in comparrision to the red mop ups of the past though. When thousands of POWs from the civil wars were treated brutality and even executed along roadside ditches. The downtroden and out of luck were the victims of that time. They sought out power for themselves through force of arms and met up against the force of the Federal Army, and large municiple police forces. Each new round up was progessively less brutal than the other and this one was in most recent history a slap on the wrist for communists located within the Monarchy. However there was still much to be done. The internal purge of the Reds was far from over. And many more would die before King Gregory believed the Red Brigade to be no longer a threat.

"What is pathetic is the claim of communism to help all citizens. The people of this fair nation do not want communism and it will not be forced upon them through strength of arms. If the people wish to have communism then they will have it. But until the majority wishes otherwise the Monarchy will remain. Like the Republic before it, the government is the will of the people. When that will changes the government shall change with it. Until then you can take your claim that we are pathetic and save it for those nations who roundly deserve the honor. For we only practice what we believe and this makes us better than most of the hypocrites in this world." The reply from Minister of Foreign Affairs Thomas Morden was short and to the point. Insults would not go unanswered. No matter who they came from.

I don't really get it.

Is the nation near overpowerment due to economic loss (Ex. Dictator)

Are the citizens near proverty and not willing to continue such?

Is this a personal matter with China/Cuba?

lol, just wondering, since I find Communism a great government and the posts you made make no real sence.

The "Red Brigade" seems more extreme terrorist group, that is large, and says they are communist other than anything else, just a little side note.

Also, since Rsussia had the red, Communism has been represented by the color red. Why really? I say Green or Blue or something lots of people like, maybe that could change peoples minds about communism, it really isn't that bad.

Chances are the computer you're using has at least 3 components that are Made In China. Think about that before you say China is 'Communist'. If it ask me, its among the most robust True Capitalist economy that exists in the world today. Its officially 'Progressive Socialism', but where else but a True Capitalist State that one observes Organised Crime on a massive scale?

Also I'd further go into it, in future posts giving alittle recap of NYNJs problems with communists. Now enough with the pointless OOC crap. Unless you got a credible RP post, dont post.

Communism's killed over 40,000,000 in the former Soviet Union, over 60,000,000 in Red China (a nation that is still extremely repressive, hostile to capitalism, and openly calls the U.S. the 'number one enemy,'), 3,000,000 in Cambodia, 2,000,000 in Vietnam, tens of thousands in Cuba, and millions more in Africa and other parts of the world.

OOC: Well for several reasons..gun laws in NYNJ are more lax. Also NYNJ has fought not one but TWO civil wars. In which communist/socialist nations decided to support the Red Brigade. The subsequent defeat of the Red Brigade and its supporters led to the government to heavy hand communist in NYNJ. Thus it appears to you that more crackdowns appear in capitalist societies because frankly, the people have more to fear.

First off, USSR was communist then Lenin died. They went against his last testiment and Stalin took over. It was not communist after Lenin b/c they turned it into a dictatorship. China is also the same category. So are all over what the world calls "Communist" not truely communist. Their has only been few successful communist societies that sprung up before and after Marx. Those being:
Paris Commune
The Amish(yes if you think about it the amish are communist)

None of the worlds "communist" nations are communist.

They called themselves that and allied with the USSR. Frankly Lenin was a butcher(Romanov family anyone?) so was Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot. They all took the banner of communism and thus represent the government style as a whole. No matter how many times you say it wasnt true communism. There is no true anything. FPS is, at this time, offering complete amnesty to any so called members of the Red Brigade, which is, in truth, most likely a NYNJ government excuse to kill off political opponents. However, at this time, FPS will not attempt to support this group in any other manner.

King Gregory read the replies one by one. A subtle grin coming to his lips he began to pen a rather large reply. It would just waste time if he responded to each and every supporter and detractor. No he would deal with them all together. Looking down upon his watch the second set of trials and executions were set to begin rather shortly. By the time this message was completed the tribuals would already be half done.

"We would like to thank all those nations who believe our actions were just and good. After having delt with this menance in two internal conflicts we can never be to careful when it comes to dealing with this kind of scum. Many a time have communist nations used the downtroden of other nations playing upon those peoples hopes and ambitions that their way is better and that through force of arms they should overthrow the government. This dangerous line of through circumvents the will of the people should the minority succeed and thus dangerous to all capitalist nations. Today the Monarchy takes a stand against injustice of the evil communist forces. Today we shall show the opposite side of the political spectrum that armed violence will not succeed against us. Now or ever.

To our detractors, more than likely controlled by communist governments, or socialists we can only say the following: Do not attempt to interfer in the internal proceedings of the Monarchies justice system. We will not tolerate or view kindly any attempts to arm the Red Brigade or give them support in any fashion. We have in the past and will in the future declare war on any nation opennly supporting, or covertly supporting should proof be found. As for the killing off of political opponents if you want, we'll release these "political opponents" criminal records. A good 70% of them were repeat offenders. Theives and thugs most of them and the rest of them were lower level Lieutenants within the RB. Say you want but frankly you dont know what your talking about."

Out of the 250 prisoners taken in the raids only twenty would be found not guilty by the tribunals. Released back into the world, several of them considered themselves rather luckly. They had missed the chambers of death entirely and they were apart of the Red Brigade. It was a lucky miss. Or so they would believe. The OSS had at random picked 20 indiviuals to be released in the second day of the hearings. These twenty men would be shadowed by the OSS to further expand on operations in an attempt to round up even more members of the elusive RB. One of those released was Jacob Tashget. Jacob went straight home from the military jail and checked his messages. One of them seemed deftly important and was left in his stash of private mail.

Reading it he blinked several times. An outside power was willing to help. This was something that could benefit the RB rather greatly. Especially if they could get as many members as they did in the second civil war. They wouldnt attack two targets this time either. They'd concentrate their forces in the hilly north...maybe an assault on Buffalo itself..Jacob immediately burned the paper and dared not reply at this moment. He suspected the OSS to be on him and watching his moves. He wouldnt give them anything to bite on though. He'd act like a normal citizen through and through. Only after several weeks when the OSS had closed the file on him would he share his information with one of his superiors. Thus a chain of events began.

Out of a population of 2.6 billion inhabitants the Red Brigade numbered a meager 3,400 people. Many in the nation were split along the lines of conservative or liberal and those who were liberal many of them did not like the far left. Who were in many ways the silent minority. While some suggestions from the far left were welcomed and some even listened to, they were considered communists and dangerous revolutionaries. Many in the far left would have gone communist long ago, but they knew the OSS would immediately suspect them of wrong doing. While the communist party in NYNJ had been illegal for many years after the second civil war, King Gregory decided it had been time to remove the ban and start fresh. Thus while it was legal to be a communist in NYNJ, there was a certain price to be payed. And if you were suspected of being a member in the RB that price was rather high.

The NKIS agent moved from shadow to shadow in the confines of the apartment block.

He soon found the room he was looking for, it had a small red star on the top right corner of the door. He stopped and pretended to be casually tying his shoelace.

Convinced that noone was watching him, he pulled his picks from his pocket and started to work on the lock. Half a minute later, he was in.

Shutting the door behind him, he looked around for somewhere suitable.

Finding a pen, he unscrewed the pen, withdrew the ink cartridge and deposited the message.

The agent then left, locking the door behind him.

THREE HOURS LATER.

Jacob Tashget arrived home. He went to his desk to write a letter to his comrades. The pen would not work. He shook the pen and banged the pen on the desk, but to no avail.

Thinking he may be out of ink, Jacob unscrewed the pen. A note fell out.

It read:

"You are being watched and followed. We will be in touch. Do not contact us. Destroy this note."

He destroyed the note and tried to forget it.

IC:

Watching the new round of messages come in the Ministry of War was awash with laughter. As officals laughed at the arrogance of some nations. A response was being considered however when it came down to it neither nation actually warrented a serious response. No the order came from King Gregory himself that nothing would be said in response. Actions were always far louder than words. It was time to clear the jails of the criminally insane. They werent connected to the Red Brigade but they were awaiting the death sentence anyway. So when the time came and their executions were carried through an additional 12 in all, they were given the label of communist.

Gregory read about it in the next days paper and tilted his head back letting out a hardy laugh. This was one of those moments where he wished he were a leader in another nation. Or he wished he had a camera at the moment the other nations found out that NYNJ just executed 12 more supposed communists. "Let them swallow this and choke on their own self rightousness." It was a quote heard by several aids and quickly printed several days after in the local tabloids.

The OSS would stop watching Tashget after several days figuring him for being a innocent victim of the round ups. They did however keep their eyes on those who were less careful. If they werent tagged as being actual members of the Red Brigade they did allow the OSS to tag criminal and gang elements. And getting rid of those criminal elements would aid municiple police departments greatly. It was always a good public relations opportunity to clean up the streets of crime.

"The act of blockade in any sort of form is an act of war. And will be viewed as such. We strongly insist that this blockade be lifted. Because if it is not, we will punch right through it.." Now things were getting serious within the Ministry of War. Units from different branches across the nation were placed on war footing, while the Civil Defense was activated and hundreds upon hundreds of SAM and AAA sites were manned. It was the kind of thing that normally meant the formal start of a conflict. In this case the military blockade was veiwed as just that. King Gregory was not at all pleased, this threat of military blockade had yet to be acted upon but he was damned if it he was going to let it happen.

The navy was the only service which found itself going completely on alert. Every ship and submarine in the fleet was immediately put on war footing and were preparing to leave port. It had been sometime since the HSN was last at war however this matter was some cause for concern. If the HSN couldnt break a simple blockade then it meant that strategy needed to be reworked entirely. At the Staten Island Naval Yards, the Mothball Fleet found itself being prepared for active duty besides the rest of the fleet. Steps had been taken for begin scrapping said fleet however the actual process had yet to begin, and thankfully so. As another two Admirals were named and given command over the Mothball Fleet in its entirety.

King Gregory would address his nation shortly, however he'd wait to see if the blockade was lifted before committing any further action.

New London,Conn.:

The submarine base was awash with activity. Orders had come through and one of the SSNs was deploying from port. The HSN Gato a Seawolf class under command of Captain Harold Kingston was one of the many Seawolfs in the service of the King. Relics from the Republic, they were the most extensive number of submarines in the sub fleet with the newer Virigina class SSN starting to replace them. However this mission called for a crew that knew its boat. A crew which could deal with the danger assosciated with this mission. No warning was to be given at all. The TLAMs on the Seawolf had been removed and in their stead were brand new HYSLAM multiple purpose guided missiles.

Super sonic and with a range of several hundred miles they were stand off weapons designed to hit high priority targets. Instead though, the submarine would fire them at any vessel which attempted to stop the progression of the transports the Seawolf was suppose to meet up with. Dipping beneath the waves to a depth of 200 feet, the Gato would link up with the three car carrier transports belonging to Nova Auto Industries(NAI) the largest auto producer in NYNJ. The Gato would avoid detection by staying beneath the 3 car carriers who were going at 15 knots. This would shadow the Gato from the view of sonar however, it similarly blinded the Gato's sonar operations. They'd have to wait for the transports above to veer off course before coming up to launch depth and looking around for targets.

At close range the Gato was armed with a mixed bag of weaponry mostly Mk-48 ADCAP torpedos and for the extreme situation, a single Mk-45 ASTOR torpedo. Nicknamed the Kevorkian it carried enough of a whalop to it which would destroy the launching sub as well simply because of the shockwave. It was highly unlikely the Mk-45s would ever be used unless it was to disable/destroy an SSBN and achieve a confirmed kill. However confirmed kills were not what the Gato's skipper wanted. If anything he hoped the Kanabians were full of it. Most of the crew hoped the same thing, few wanted war.

"We welcome the envoy from Iuthia with open arms. We will be willing to talk to neutral parties in this matter to discuss evidence against the communists and criminal elements which were executed. However as they pointed out themselves, we will view any act of embargo in international waters or not, as acts of war. Technically in international waters it is an act of piracy. It will be treated as such as well. Three NAI Car Carriers will attempt to pass the blockade. Any attempt to stop them will be viewed as an act of war. We can only hope the Kanabian government sees the error of its ways and does not attempt to halt their transit."

Gregory was satisified with his message...he'd get the pounce on them though..a Seawolf beneath the waves. Classic. Utter masterpiece of thought. The Gato would do its job even if the Kanabians allowed the NAI Carriers to go by, the Gato would ensure that others didnt try to follow Kanabia's example.

The Prometheus, a Dolphin class SSN, glided silently towards the carriers, several meters below the ocean surface...

"Sir, Sonar repor...."

BAM!!! A sickening screech followed the original crash and cracking sounds ominiously followed, the crew looking at eachother in shock and fear.

"We hit something!!!"
"The transports? No, we're too deep..."
"Something else? A whale?"
"A sub?"

"Damage report!"
"Massive leaks in forward section- Forward torpedo tubes, out. Hull breached.....We can't stop the flooding!!! Forward SAM launcher, out!

Another crack followed and the submarine lurched violently downwards.

For a split second, the commander decided the course of action. "Blow Ballast. Surface the boat." "Aye, Sir."

Official Government Response to Iuthia

"The people of Kanabia have always taken a strong stance upon tyranny and injustice, no matter what ideology such tyranny is said to be helping. We feel that opposition of such barbaric policies should be natural to all respectable nations of the world community. If you would note, we are eager to remove our embargo and blockade, in exchange for these political prisoners. We are not asking much. NYNJ gets rid of their prisoners, and we all go home happy. We believe that this is a fair compromise...we do not want war. The people of NYNJ are not our enemies.

If we weren't taking a stance here, than we would be no better than those who are doing the oppression themselves. We hope you see our position, and we would like to see a diplomatic means of resolution that benefits all involved parties.

We finish with our best wishes for your future welfare,

The Peoples Congress of Kanabia."

HNS Gato-

Metal creaked and groaned as the impact shook the entire boat. Captain Kingston had fallen forward on the conn and had hit his head on an above terminal openning up a gash. Around the ship injuries were reported in various degrees. Mostly cuts and bruises except for in the bow of the ship. In the torpedo room where the impact was worst felt several of the Mk-48 ADCAPs had fallen and crushed crew members beneath them. It was only a matter of 10 seconds before Kingston was back on his feet attempting to take charge of the situation once more.

"What in christs name happened?" Kingston called out his XO who was on the boats intercom already trying to asses himself what was going on.

"Captain, we've got damage reports coming in from the fore torpedo room. We're taking on water fast!" The XO got his first reports from the Petty officer who responded to the intercomm at the now flooding torpedo room.

"Damage control teams to the fore torpedo room.."

"Conn,Helm we're making enough noise that Iceland can hear us." Came the the yell from the helm officer.

"It doesnt matter anymore how much noise we make. Helm, 10 degree turn to starboard get us from under the transports!" The captain had made a choice, if he surfaced now the chance of hitting the transports above was much to great. Instead the Gato would attempt to manuver while taking onwater still.

"Conn, this is fore torpedo room,we cant stop the flooding so we're gonna lock this section off entirely. Recommend we blow the ballasts.."

The cheif engineer knew what he was talking about when he gave the choice. The water in the bow was creating a dangerous situation one which needed to be resolved soon or else the entire submarine would sink nose first into the depths.

"Captain we may not have cleared the transports yet.." The XO said in an unexpectant tone looking back toward Kingston who weighed the options with all the uncertainty that came with a choice of this magnitude.

"Helm, emergency blow the ballast, surface the ship rapidly."

"Aye aye Captain! Using the charged air to blow the ballast tanks! Emergency surface of the boat in progress!"

The charged air forced the water out quickly from the tanks and caused the submarine to start to rise. The flooding in the front prevented this rise from happening much faster however the submarine was soon on the surface. Its aft section smacking into one of the passing transports damaging the rudder control. When compared to everything else this was the least of everyones worries.

"Skipper, we've begun to transmit an SoS back to naval HQ...they're telling us to sit tight..help is on the way."

"Prepare for evacuation of the boat..."

Back in Staten Island people didnt know what to make of the incoming reports for the first ten minutes. A choice was made though to dispatch the 4th Carrier Battlegroup along with the floating dry dock vessel S.S. Tyrone. While this took place those, the three cargo vessels came to a stop...two submarines had surfaced, and one of them had shown to be a friendly vessel. A P-3C Orion had been deployed from Rhode Island Naval Station to watch over the situation until the first of the military vessels could arrive on scene and provide more assistance. Two PBY Catalinas were being readied for emergency relief and assitance of removing the crew should it prove nessecary.

King Gregory had yet to hear of the situation however he had a new interesting development to deal with. AMF, and the diplomatic comm recieved just fourty minutes before this endevour in the Atlantic. Of course there was a reply to AMF..they were more importance than this entire situation with Kanabia. The message was sent back through encrypted channels and the response was rather simple and cordial.

"We'd like to humbly thank your Lord Dreadfire for his pledged military support should we need it. We request, that you hold back. Until such time though. We wish you the best regards though, King Gregory himself was more than surprised to hear that such a well known and respected nation was willing to offer support to our cause. We wish to be able to respond in kind, in the future. " The response came from Joseph Stetson the secretary of defense. It was true, no one had expected AMF support, heck few expected many well known nations to assist. This was just one of those fights that many assumed the battle harded Monarchy could handle on its own.

Helicopters buzzed overhead of the newly surfaced Prometheus, lowering stretchers through their winch system to pick up wounded crew safely.

One of the helicopters signalled through a light in morse code to the surfaced NYNJ submarine- "Do you have wounded. We can take them to your vessels."

Two destroyers, Castle and Phantom, set out towards the wounded Prometheus to pick up the remaining crew.

The Muktari government finds such actions as severe, excessive, and far worse than anything your idea of communism could bring. As for those who support such action militarilly (that includes AMF), you have dropped in our standings considerably.

If it threatens the security of the State, they must be crushed! Do you expect a reasonable person to sit idley by as a militant group tries to cause a revolution in your own nation? The crackdown is essential to National Security. How do you not understand that? Or is the fact that since it is Communists (like it is normally) threatening the National Security, it is unacceptable for defensive measures to be taken.

There is a communist uprising in my nation at the moment, in my third largest city (not the capitol). That threatens National Security. At the moment, the Czar is not happy with the communists, and are about to have their own crackdown. But no, according to you, I would not be allowed to have a crackdown, because that is suppressing peoples free expression of thought. FREE EXPRESSION DOES NOT MEAN TAKING OVER WITH MILITARY FORCE MY THIRD LARGEST CITY! Already another nation has backed the MRA. They will be dealt with forcibly after this problem is taken care of.

It depends on whether the communists are repressed by force originally. See, If they had a voice and were allowed to express themselves, there would be no need for armed revolution. Viewing your political rights record, We sincerely believe that they were indeed suppressed and denied the right to free expression.

THe Communists were allowed free expression all the time -- just no one wanted to hear it. THe Czar allows it to happen. If you mean "free expression" = democracy, then no, they have not. The Czar's family have reigned over Derscon for over 500 years, and never has there been a problem. The current Czar has abolished all the stains of his family's past (aka concentration camps), and it seems the rebels have mistook this for weakness.

OOC querie: How many Red Brigade members are still underground (not yet captured) and how easy would it be for them to flee the country? I was thinking evidence of Alvarezistan harboring and refusing to extradite a few of the Brigade members (Brigadiers?) could make for an interesting sub-RP to the main one going on, since we have some of the most open immigration and asylum policies in the world.

Offical Iuthian Responce to Kanabia:

Quite frankly we find your responce to situations in other nations to be quite dangerous to say the least. As stated before, a blockade is internationally recognised as an act of war if enforced... however we can see where the mistake was made.

Never the less we feel that your navy is not required to be near the waters of NYNJ if you are only blocking trade to and from your nation, afterally your vessals can do their work in the safer environment of your own waters without provoking the NYNJ government, who will be concerned about the precense of military vessals near their waters.

The fact your navy is near NYNJ suggests your nation is prepared to take military action, currently we see very little reason for you to do so and your "diplomatic" attempts have been nothing short of threats and demands, which is hardly any way to go about diplomacy if you wish to be sucessful...

In eithercase we will not seek to penalise your nation from trade possibilities with Iuthia in the future providing you don't make any more agressive moves.

Thanks,

Ambassidor Hans Felix didn't take long to prepare for his trip to New York and Jersey, though he did take the time to look over his notes and review the situation. He was hoping that the evidence would be suitable to justify such harsh actions, though other may not argee that it's alright to kill people for such "crimes". Never the less this trip would prove interesting.

With care he assembled his team of diplomatic aides and security at the airport in and loaded their gear. NYNJ had been informed of the more important security details and flight information regarding the plane, Iuthian offically making a point of noting and following every proceedure.

Eventually they were off on their way to New York and Jersey, alot of hopes flying with them, the trip was mostly uneventful, little more then a few patches of turblance. The co-pilot got into contact with the NYNJ aircontrol in order to land, the last few minutes of their flight.

(( Sorry I've not put as much effort as I would like into this post, I'm feeling goddamn aweful with the heat over here... eitherway I've left this open for any event to take place before we land in case anyone has ideas...))

OOC: However, I doubt he will allow communist refugees to do the same... it's not really your choice to allow pepole out of his nation, it's his.

If Iuthia can secure a deal with NYNJ then perhaps we can find somewhere else for them... but like I said, it's down to them.

Letter To Iuthian Government

Rest assured, we have no wish to make any further aggressive actions. Our forces in the area consist of one faily large fleet and several submarines, without ground forces or significant air support. It is hardly a preparation for conflict, and in a military engagement we would take significant damage to no good end, without being able to inflict lasting damage upon the opposition.

While we appreciate your position and concern towards our actions, we felt that simply asking nicely in this situation would not elicit a response...as we noted from the requests of several other nations. From our position, we view that while we have so far failed in succeeding to take these political prisoners and grant them asylum in Kanabia, at the very least we took a stand and got noticed as a nation that will stand up for what is right, even if most others are silent on the issue and unwilling to do anything.

With any luck a small effect of our show of solidarity with the oppressed communists will be that any communists in hiding will hear of our support and try and leave the nation to the welcoming embrace of our people. Even if they choose to stay, they know that when they do find freedom, they will have friends here.

Kind Regards,

Royal Palace, Hamptons, Long Island:

As King Gregory first heard of the reports of the HSN Gato a rage filled inside of him. Crumbling up the first report he threw it as hard as he could across his office in the royal palace. "I want answers, and I want someones head!" Gregory's aide-de-camp went immediately from the office to the nearby office for the Ministry of War. It'd be half an hour before orders were recieved by the 4th Battlegroup. It was time to flex some muscle close to home.

HSN New York City somewhere in the Atlantic:

The Nimitz class Carriers "New York City" and "Boston" comprised the core of the 4th Battlegroup. Surrounded by 3 Ticonderoga class AEGIS Cruisers, 7 Arleigh Bruke Flight II(A) Destroyers, 14 Sprunce VLS equipped ASW Destroyers and 14 Oliver Hazard Perry class Frigates, the 4th Battlegroup was suppose to only help the floating dry dock Tyrone get the Gato out of the area and back to the Brooklyn Naval Yards. However as new orders streamed in. Admiral Mirrer grinned to himself and passed the orders to his CAG.

From the deck of the "New York City" two F-14E Super Tomcats took off carrying a wide assortment of weapons. Mostly AAMs with a pair of AGMs for anti ship work, they had a duty which made the crews of both Tomcats worried. They were going to declare the area around the Gato off limits to air units. Which meant the Helicopters needed to leave. As they got to within 120 miles of the area the lead pilot turned on the general radio channel, "This is Whiskey Flight to Kanabian Helicopters, you are ordered to vacate the area immediately. The area around our damaged submarine is being declared a no fly zone and you are in violation of that order. Repeat, the area around the submarine has been declared a no fly zone and you are to vacate the area immediate." Providing AWACs support was a lone E-2C Hawkeye keeping look out for any incoming hostiles.

New York City,New York:

The Iuthian delegation was allowed to touch down at John F Kennedy international airport. There was no grand offical welcoming, except for a single limosine and two police cars front and back. The day itself though seemed rather nice. Maybe it was a welcoming symbol of something that wished to be worked out. With the unfolding submarine situation though, that hope was quickly fading.

As the radio message from this "Whiskey Flight" came through on his headphones, Flight Lieutenant Adams frowned. "Well, then whiskey flight, what do you propose to do with *our* wounded crew? Let them die? Negative on that request. You can relay that to your commanders. We have no hostile weaponry...repeat, we are no threat."

Meanwhile...

Several of the larger ships pulled away from the rest of the fleet. There was trouble brewing elsewhere, and the ships were needed there.

The aircraft carrier Orca, 4 destroyers, 2 frigates, and a Dolphin SSN remained behind.

"Negative, repeat negative. You are ordered to leave the exclusion zone immediately. This is your final warning. Remove yourselves from this area or else." The 2 F-14E Super Tomcats had to circle around once more passing over the chaotic scene. The HSN Gato and the Dolphin class submarine, the three car carriers having slowed down to watch what was going on. None of the civilian crews knew what was going on. This wasnt a sight seen every day.

On the HSN Gato damage control teams had gotten two of the submarines four pumps working and had begun to expel water from the bow sections of the vessel. The damage done was bad however the pumps were removing water faster than it was coming in. Welding teams were attempting to close up holes above the waterline however in this kind of water the holes below the waterline would be difficult to close up. Captain Kingston looked over the reports from the bow section...six crew members dead, and another fifteen with moderate wounds. None of them real life threatening..things could have been far worse.

On the decks of the HSN New York City and HSN Boston aircraft had been placed on Alert 5 status. Ready to launch on a moments notice were another 8 F-14E Super Tomcats, four on both Carriers. A special SH-60 Seahawk with LAMPS Mk III moved up from the deck of the Boston and began to fly toward the suspected direction of the Kanabia fleet. The LAMPS system was designed as an over the horizon assistance to TASMs, Harpoons and HYSLAM anti ship missiles. Giving the HSN a greater anti-ship capability.

Lieutenant Adams got off the radio to his commander and relayed a message to the invisible face behind "whiskey flight".

"I have been authorised to relay this message." Adams read off the note he had just dictated. "Our crew are still within international waters and as subject, we are entitled to rescue them. However, we will make a compromise. You can rescue our crew and carry them back to our ships and we will return to our base. Otherwise, you will be responsible for the drowning of 120 of our men."

19-06-2004, 05:00
"This is a no fly zone repeat, a no fly zone. You will not be warned again." The lead plane of whiskey flight switched the radio channel back to the squad communications. "Okay Whiskey 2, switch to sidewinders, and take the target on the left. Lets try and scare them off before we put them down." The F-14E Super Tomcats began to swing around once more going out to 30 miles before they circled around once more and bore down on the two helicopters. Both fighters locked on the helicopters with the AIM-9 Sidewinders. The heat signatures of the stationary helicopters would be big enough to get on the sidewinders radar.

Fingers were crossed though across the 4th battlegroup as they listened to the two flight crews chatter between planes. This could be the start of a conflict simply because the Kanabians tried an illegal blockade. They had already unoffically declared war with the blockade. This was just the actual start of hostilities.

OOC: You do realise that I called the blockade off? I only have a carrier and a few small ships remaining to pick up my stranded crew and then they are going home.

IC: The helicopters began loading the wounded crew members aboard when the F-14's locked radar upon them, sounding off the RWR warning system.

"Shit!" screamed Adams. He immediately got on the radio. "You have not responded to our request, whiskey flight. We need a yes or no answer. We offered to vacate the area in place of you taking over the rescue operation. We need to know your response..."

The commander of the wounded sub could hear all of this coming through the radio system. He turned to his First Mate and said "If those aircraft fire, I want the rear SAM battery to blow those planes out of the sky..."

After landing at the John F Kennedy international airport, Ambassidor Hans Felix took his time getting out of the Iuthian passenger craft. No fancy Hippogrith Support Craft was used for Hans as it would require a carrier being in the region, most of which were not to far away from Iuthia itself. Never the less it wasn't a bad plane and had luxurious fittings.

The trip had been pretty uneventful, though it offered plenty of time for Hans to keep an eye on the situation and look into some background behind the decision made by the NYNJ government.

Leaving the plane Hans noticed the lack of media attention, which wasn't surpising really, Iuthia wasn't a well known nation and while it condemned alot it didn't really do much to offend people, their roll was to mediate and perhaps find out some real facts instead of news gossip. Maybe even an embassy could be set up, but such notions were besides the point and wouldn't be a priority.

However, despite the lack of any offical welcoming there was a limozine prepared for his arrival, a nice touch having it so close to the runway as it showed that the officals in NYNJ wanted to get to business and not waste time. It made sense because the situation with Kanabia looked a little dire, a misunderstanding though it is, Hans wasn't sure what the NYNJ military officials were capable of.

Han Felix got into the diplomatic car which had been assigned for his pickup, no doubt it would take him to introduce the other diplomats so he could work out how long he would be here... perhaps he wouldn't have to stay more then a night (as the effects of jet lag were already kicking in) but even at the age of 52 he's sure he would be able to do a little before he retired to his pre-booked 4-star hotel.

He thanked the chaufer for opening his door and stepped into the vehicle with a couple of his diplomatic aides, an elven woman by the name of Ulora and a human man whom he had always called Eric. They weren't his usual aides, but their knowledge of NYNJ affairs were much more indepth then his own.

Finally the limozine set off, leaving the Iuthian security teams to liase with NYNJ security officals and the Iuthian Diplomatic Corps to sort out his accomodation to make sure everything was suitable for such a diplomatic stay, even if it may only be for an evening and the morning after.
