Colerica

Hello, I'm Kathren Movan and this a Colerica Imperial News breaking news alert. Colerica Imperial News is now reporting that Kally, one of the oldest states in the United Empire of Colerica, has called for a seccession from the UEC. This startling news comes after the UEC's 8th Infantry Divison recently returned from making a sweep through the state, capturing several of the seccessionist troublemakers. However, it appears that the state's citizens were behind the calls for seccession.
Kressi Thra, Magistrate of State, brushes off the news story as nothing more than, quote, "big talk by hardline RAFC supporters."
Dev SigNar, Magistrate of Internal Affairs, refuted Ms. Thra's statement by saying, quote, "It would be foolish for the United Empire's government to treat the cries of these citizens as 'big talk.' We need to watch this with the closest of eyes."
Trek Sef, CIN reporter, has been in Kally covering the story 8th ID's movements for some weeks now. We now go to him live.
"Trek, what can you tell us about the situation down there on the streets? How are the people reacting to this?"
"Well Kathren, I can tell you that most of the people I've talked to seem quite enthralled about the decision amongst their state leaders. I've seen several signs here among the crowds of people that show pictures of Maderic Thra, our beloved Emperor, with bullet holes through them. Local police aren't doing much to stop this, either," Trek says.
"Has anyone been aggressive to you, Trek?" Kathren asks.
"We've had to have our security remove a man who ran up to us, screaming curses. For the majority, however, the people are relatively non-violent. In their actions, at least. Their words are far more violent. We've heard cries of, "Death to the Empire!," "Secede now!," and even "Kill Thra!," shouted here. We're hoping that the UEC will ship in some non-local authorities and break up such a treasonous rally as this, but we've yet to get any word on that," replies Trek.
At this point, a man from behind Trek walks in front of the CIN cameras and asks for Trek's microphone, who reluctantly agrees to let him borrow it.
"Thank you, Mr. Sef, for allowing me to voice my opinion, something the United Empire doesn't allow. I only want a few words, then I'll give you back your microphone. My name is Sethra Rell and I'm sick of the United Empire. This corrupt, evil government has footed us under the weight of control for too long. And now my dream is coming true. God willing," Sethra says, as Trek gasps at the mention of a religious diety, something banned in Colerica*, "our viceroy and senators will be man enough to stand up and secede."
"Thank you for that....interesting...opine, Mr. Rell. I'm sure now that you identified yourself on public TV, you'll get security-police knocking on your door, which I personally believe you should get," Trek says as he tries to yank the microphone from Sethra.
"Hold up just a second. I know that CIN is government-run, just like everything else here, but you think I diserve to be scooped up by Thra's goons and sent to some prison camp?" Sethra asks.
"Of course. What you're doing is treason. You can't advocate the overthrow of the United Empire. And you're using references to religion, something that also illegal," Trek defends himself.
"Oh no! I said God. What? You got a problem with saying God? Damn it. God, God, God, God, God!" Sethra shouts. "See? There is a higher power than Maderic Thra and his name is God. Or Allah. Or whatever. Maderic isn't all-powerful," Sethra continues.
"You're insane," Trek says, grabbing the microphone from Sethra's hands. "Maderic Thra is all-powerful as far you should be concerned. Now get out of my face, you treasonous little snake."
Sethra closes his mouth and begins to turn away. But, being the defiant rebel he is, swings around and punches Trek in the face on Colerican television. Trek looks away, in pain.
"Um, um...We'll talk with Trek later," Kathren quickly turns the show away. "Now, let's see the weather."
OOC: * = In the United Empire, religion is outlawed as it is seen as recognizing an authority that is higher than the Emperor. While the Empire doesn't personally have anything wrong with religion, per se, recognizing someone higher than the Emperor within Colerican borders is illegal. However, a few weeks ago the United Empire passed a law that will enstate a State-run, State-sponsered religion that considers the Emperor, himself, to be a god or god-like figure. No word yet on how the people of the UEC will take to that...
