You built a HALO? Ok, I want to know where it is, and it's effective radius.

OOC:
BAh silly young people, the ring world from halo is tiny and rubbish, what you want is a proper ringworld, like in the Larry Niven series of the same name.

You do realize the the HALO isn't just an ecosystem/habitat. It's a weapon, designed to destroy sentient life within several hundred lightyears. If he's built more than one of these things, it's even more dangerous. If one of them fires, it'll set off the whole network. Life, as we know it, would be over. In the interest of peace, I petition that we, as the international community, order this weapon dismantled. It's one of the few true terror weapons, threatening everyone.

OOC: If you read the books, or play the game, you'll realize the actual potential of this weapon. It ain't pretty.

I think The Monitor said the effective pulse range would be 25,000 lightyears

Redmire, we are unable to supply funds or workers, as we are building a battleship the size Washington D.C. Although it is nothing in comparison, we are using all of our resources to construct it. However, when we complete our Carrier currently under construction, we will divert it with supplies to the Halo monthly, if- and only if- we are informed of the location, can station troops and ships there, and have the access codes to the Weapon. However, we would never give out that information, it would remain under the tightest security. Anyway, we would provide supplies from the Agri worlds and maybe a few thousand tools, and we would allow you to harvest minerals from asteriods in our own space.

its still miniscule comapred the "real" ringworld and it doesn't have any protectors or puppeters (or kzin for that matter), just the half baked coveneant and the swarm bolted on at the end...

How big is the "real" ringworld? I like the Banks' orbitals. They can be pretty Gigantic. (14,000,000kmsq) Also, if he's allowed to use the halo as a weapon, I can sure as hell build a fleet of GSVs, and other culture tech goodies.

Other than that... Where did you get the materials to build a ringworld? It's no small task.

A circumfrence of about 300million miles and about a million miles across.
The actual ring is about as far from it's sun as the earth is from ours and takes up the entire orbit which is an enmourmous area...

this website gives an idea of the size:

as does this:

of coruse after the ring world you also get the dyson sphere, which i think appaers in the Uplift saga.

With a little help from drizzts army and other countries. Weve been saving up supplies for this and with the help of others it was easy....except actually building it in space. THAT WAS HARD we lost 23 men...
