Mass Executions as new emperor takes office

Generic empire
10-06-2004, 02:58
Vladimir Kreschnev took office after a brief election by the members of the newly established Generic parliament. His induction was made as swift as possible in order to allow him to get to work on the various problems that are plaguing the empire. His first priority is to end the religious dissention in the nation through force. 18,000 Generian soldiers have been sent to Alberia to quell the rebellion there. At home several death squads have been assembled to end the holy war that is in progress. The soldiers have been given orders to execute all members of the Alberian church sect of Genericism. So far 200 people have been reported dead as the firing squads move through the capital.

GEI urgent report
Good evening ladies and gentlemen. im standing here in the capital city of the empire where thousands of religious protesters and members of the Alberian church lie dead after the Emperor's iron fisted campaign against religious dissention. The screams are still echoing through the streets as death squads made their rounds and executed all members of the Alberian church still in the capital city. From all appearances it would seem that the empire has won the holy war at home and can now contribute their efforts to combating the separatists in the rebel province of Alberia. The emperor has stated his desire to test some new weaponry on the rebels and it is sure to be a great show. We will bring you live coverage throughout this next stage of the conflict. Goodnight and as always Glory to Generia! Death to Alberians!

PRIME MINISTER'S RESIDENCE, NEW DUBLIN, McQUAIDE

Prime Minister Sweeny, watching the news report from his living room couch, grimaced at some of hte more graphic footage. He reached for the house phone connected to the Prime Minister's Residence staff office.

"Get me the head of External Intelligence, and the rest of the Security Council. And place the fleet on alert, with deployment orders to stage in international waters off the coast of Gereria, immediately. I also want the airborne brigade ready to operate."

"And Steph, you better start making some coffee, I have a feeling this meeting might take a while."

The terrorists have attacked my people and are no better than common thugs. We are one and we will stand as one until the bitter end. Glory to the fatherland! Death to Alberian terrorists!"

Vladimir steps off as the cameras stop rolling

Belgrast, Alberian capital, 0200 hours

A lone soldier ran across the street. The lead was flying everywhere. A building exploded as a tank shell hit it. He ran into an apartment building to the south. He saw a fellow Generian soldier and they made their way up the stairs. He kicked open a door to the left and inside saw a family of 11 children an old man a woman and another man with a rifle. The man shot one of the soldiers but was quickly cut to ribbons with the first soldiers assault rifle. The soldier looked at the children, the woman and the old man. "We have our orders," he said calmly, with a hint of regret. Screams and gunfire echoed throughout the old building and a trickle of blood ran out from under the door.

MINISTRY OF DEFENSE PRESS CONFERENCE

Newly promoted Vice Admiral Ellie Fitzgerald, commander of the McQuaide Self Defense Force Joint Expeditionary Command, stood at a podium inside the MSDF Command Center in New Dublin.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, MSDF Space Command, in cooperation with the External Intelligence Bureau of the Homeland Defense Department, has confirmed through satellite imagery that at least several hundred persons in the Alberian region of the Generic Empire have been killed in military operations that can only be described as ethnic cleansing."

"Air Force electronic reconnaissance aircraft, flying over the international waters of the Aegean Sea, have confirmed Generic Empire radio communications traffic coordinating these attacks."

"It is the opinion of our government that government sovereignty over its territory ends when the violation of the basic right to live begins. Therefore, as of this moment the Commonwealth of McQuaide is announcing a general embargo against the Generic Empire. Furthermore, we are announcing that, should these actions not cease immediately, we must take whatever action is necessary to protect the basic human rights of the Alberian people."

"We call upon all nations that value freedom and basic human rights to join in our actions against this despicable regime."

MSDF Command Center Communications Department

As the Vice Admiral was answering questions, the communications center several floors underground buzzed with the sounds of teletype machines, radio operators, and intelligence officers. The largest mobilization of the MSDF to date was underway, stretching the capabilities of the command center.

Air Force RC-135 Rivet Joint aircraft were constantly over the Aegean, monitoring GE radio traffic and identifying GE air defense radar sites, command centers, and radio relay units. These aircraft were soon joined by E-767 AWACS and E-8C J-STARS radar aircraft, soon establishing near-total radar coverage of the air and ground. Soon, intelligence data was flowing into the command center about vehicle movements and aircraft patrol patterns.

The McQuaide fleet had already transited from the Black Sea, and was sailing at a steady 26 knots towards the Aegean to take up a patrol station. Although its compliment of Marines from the first Expeditionary Brigade were already aboard, they were soon joined by elements of the Army's 23rd Light Infantry Brigade, the MSDF Special Forces unit. The addition of the two companies of infantry and four MH-53 Pave Low V special forces helicopters made for a tight fit aboard the MSDFS Gabaldon, an exported LHD that represented the flagship of the McQuaide Fleet. The Special Operations soldiers, along with Marine Force Reconnaissance specialists, were attending briefings in the crowded hanger deck of the carrier, planning the first of the possible operations on the ground.

Back in the Navy's home port at New Dublin, the Marines were about to be joined at sea. Supervising the on-loading of their vehicles to Merchant Marine Ro-Ro vessels was the McQuaide 21st Mechanized Brigade, a Merkava-4 MBT equipped unit specializing in urban warfare campaign.

An aid walked into the room where the emperor and the secretary of defense were meeting.

"Sir, i believe that you should know that around 0400 we detected a naval battlegroup entering Generian territorial waters. It is believed to be a force bent on landing and establishing military operations in the name of McQuaide."

The emperor took a pull from his cigar

"I knew it." He turned to the defense minister. "Jack i need you to get our defenses ready. I want everything we have defending the capital. Set up shore batteries and prepare to commence air strikes. Were not gonna lose this one."

He turned to the aid.

"Johnny i want you to wake our secretary of state and foreign minister. Tell them for the love of god to put a clean face on this. With some luck we can at least get some support. Oh and Johnny, get us up and running in the Sat operations room. I want our intel up 24/7. We're in it now boys, lets put on a good face."
The emperor lit another cigar and calmly walked upstairs into the press room.

Emperor Vladimir Kreschnev walked onto the podium in front of the waiting cameras.

"People of Generia, I come to you in troubled times. We have recently detected a large battlegroup moving ever closer to our shores. They come to us under the guise of liberators. This is a lie my friends. they come to enslave you because of business that is not theirs. We fight a war that is our own my people, and they claim that it is theirs. This too is a lie. These Alberians perpetrate crimes against you, do they not? And then the world turns against us in support of these terrorists and hoodlums. My people I come to you in need, not as an emperor, but as a father. I must ask that no matter what these so called "liberators" say, they mean to do you ill, for they are liars all of them, and you mustn't believe them. Join me in taking up arms against these evil men and we will be victorious together! You will fight alongside you emperor in battle and your names shall echo through eternity. So join me now Generia! Stand at my back! We will prevail and the fatherland shall sustain for eternity! Glory to Generia! Death to the oppressors!

The people of the police state of Douchebaggia have never seen such disregard for human rights. As defense minister, I pledge the full support of our great nation's remarkably powerful army. Defense being one of the highest spending areas in our government's dossier of fund dispersement, we have the ability to commit well over 1,000,000 troops to this cause, which has disgusted the people of our great land. Should this come to blows, we wish to make it known that we will not tolerate a rogue nation's attack on human rights, and we will utilize our superior size and strength to keep this borderline genocide from occurring. Send telegrams should you need the help of our land, we are poised.

Streams of thin rain battered the deck of the RNS Hathor, Flagship of the Fleet as Admiral Helen Charters stould on the bow of the boat. The thick, black, leather overjacket of the Rotovian Navy drizzled with droplets of water as Helen stared out towards the barely visable horizon.

Hearing a number of footsteps she turned to see her Executive Officer and two other Bridge Officers approach.

XO: "Admiral, we will be entering Generic Empire waters in a few moments..."

Admiral: "Is the rest of the Fleet ready?"

XO: "They are taking positions Ma'am"

Admiral: "What of the Supply Fleets?"

XO: "They will arrive within a few days..."

They all stopped speaking for a moment as the sky cleared, almost instantaniously and rays of sun began to peek through the clouds.

Admiral: "I shall need to contact Fleet Command..."

One of the Birdge Officers removed a large silver breifcase and layed it on the deck. Upon opening it, what appeared to be a laptop and phone handle was visable. The Officer entered a series of number combinations into the keypad, and handed the phone to Admiral Charters.

Admiral: (Into Receiver) "This is Fleet Admiral Charters of the RNS Hathor, we have just entered Generic Empire waters. Request clearence to begin Phase One. Confirmation Code: Alpha-Theta-Pye-Four-Two-Thirty-One"

The Officer took back the receiver and the following code was sent to Rotovia Naval Command: [code:1:9fae33d32b]145-859-859-693-245-754-857-184-963[/code:1:9fae33d32b]

Official FPS Statement
It is the position of the government of FPS that these acts of genocide are not only unmoral, but unacetpable. At this time, FPS is ordering a total trade embargo of the Generic Empire, along with a complete blockade of all ports. Furthermore, we request that all nations bordering the GE cut all ties with them, and likewise embargo them.

Any naval vessels attempting to enter or exit the blockade line, which will be exactly 300 yards beyond Generic National Waters, will be turned back. If they refuse to turn back, they will be boarded, and forcefully turned back. If all else fails, they will be sunk.

Furthermore, the President has called on congress for an act of war against the GE.

OOC: Generic, note, FPS is not yet at war, President Terrus is simply calling congress to declare war. Whether or not congress will agree..another matter entirely.

Evan Edwin-Moran, Secretary of Defense for the great land of Douchebaggia steps forward to the microphone before a raving crowd of supporters of the war in the GE.

"My people, my followers, my brothers, my friends! I applaud your support of the noble cause that our country has taken upon it's already burdened shoulders...in addition, that you support peacekeeping of any kind, that the blood of innocents shant be spilt, is to be commended. However, your cries for mass bloodshed, like those of many in the coalition attacking the GE, are unwarranted! We must remember, in order to take the proverbial high road, we must not spill more blood than need be, and a quick resolution to this problem is always the desirable path to be taken. Recall, our nation alone constitutes a population roughly 70 times that of the GE, with a coalition force literally 100 fold the power of the military of the GE. Remember, mercy to those who ask it, and mercilessness to those who give no choice: that is indeed the path we shall take, as those who celebrate moral standards and believe in an unwritten agreement that those in need must be protected!"

To thunderous applause, and several rounds of his country's famed salute and cries of dedication to the great land of Douchebaggia, Mr. Edwin-Moran finished his statement with a fierce shout that instantly commanded the respect and admiration of all who listened.

"And we, my brethren, shall not let the oppressed few be slaughtered by a merciless tyrant! We will fight till the last candle wick burns out, we will storm the enemy stronghold, and we will save those needing saved, and kill those begging for it! We will not quit, we will not fold, we will succeed!"

To a wave of applause and a feeling of overwhelming support, E. Edwin-Moran stepped off of the stage, hoping that the other nations of the coalition would follow the lead of Douchebaggia's noble citizens.

The Commonwealth of McQuaide Self Defense Force has deployed the following forces to the Aegean Sea, presently positioned 25 miles off the coast of Generia, in international waters:

DECK OF THE MSDFS GABALDON, 0130:

The Marine Force Reconnaissance soldiers stepped through the hatch onto the flight deck wearing their full combat kit and carrying the massive LRRP packs of their trade. To the Navy crewmen on the deck, these men appeared to be fearsome, deadly monsters, something out of a movie. They seemed to sweat death. Most were veterans of Chechnya, and all had seen at least a tour in Afghanistan before the split of Georgia from the USSR. They were not the typical young Marines, but rather experienced operators, all at least in their 30s.

Next through the hatches were the first of the Army Special Forces teams to deploy that night. They had similarly fearsome appearances, but were equipped for direct combat rather than reconnaissance. One platoon carried with them crates of weapons and uniforms, meant for the equipment and training of Alberian troops.

As the teams mounted the massive, dark gray Pave Low V helicopters there seemed to be an electricity in the clear night’s air. For the first time, the McQuaide Self Defense Force was deploying for combat. Years of training and preparation were about to matter for the hundred-odd men about to enter combat for their country.

The helicopters lifted off, swooping low over the dark blue waves of the Aegean Sea, their pilots guided by night vision goggles. Their targets were points along the border of the Alberian region and Generia, where the reconnaissance units would begin collecting targeting data for air strikes, and the special forces would link up with whatever Alberians had mobilized against the slaughter of their people. They would remain at low level, following routes that minimized exposure to Generian Air Defense radars or ground units.

As the helicopters launched, the first of the McQuaide Air Force strike package was already en route. The first wave of the strike was led by F-35A Joint Strike Fighters, equipped with anti-radar and stand-off ground attack weapons. Their targets were the air defense radar installations of Generia identified by the RC-135 Rivet Joints. Their strike would be followed up by two squadrons of F-15E Strike Eagle fighters, armed with 2,000 pound GPS-guided bombs. They would target Generian command centers, communications relays, and airfields. In this way, the McQuaide Air Force hoped to blind the Generian armed forces, eliminate their ability to command their forces, and destroy their ability to attack the coalition fleet.

Josef Grenge was only a man of 30, but in his time he had already seen too much of the world as head of Generian intelligence. It had to be said, though, that he was exceptionally good at his job. He was standing in front of a large screen on the wall of the surprisingly modern intelligence service bunker. Most of the equipment had been contributed by the KGB in soviet times. He noticed several small blips on his radar. They needed no explanation. He knew exactly what they were. Josef moved up the stairs to the door of the imperial meeting room. He knocked twice and the door was opened by a cabinet aid. Josef walked up to the emperor and wispered into his ear: "they've arrived your majesty."

Emperor Vladimir Kreschnec stood up and addressed his entire cabinet seated before him.

"Friends, Generians, I believe you all know what we have on our hands. We are being condemned for fighting a civil war. Soldiers from a multinational force are already on the ground. We have pulled back our armored divisions, anti-aircraft batteries, infantry units, and special operations forces into and around our capital. We are fighting for our way of life my friends. Defense Minister Jack Pyusef has already established an effective defense of our capital. Our shore batteries are ready to repel any more ships that reach our shores, and our guerilla legions lie in wait in the cities. This is not a time for fear, comrades, but a time to show your nation what it means to lead, for today we are hear to defend what is ours like the great classical heros of old. Good luck in your duties and godspeed."

The emperor walked out of the room and went downstairs to a basement storeroom. He picked up a helmet, kevlar vest, and an AK-47 assault rifle. He would lead his men himself if he had to.

Antonia, small city 12 miles south of Generian capital
The men lay in hiding. All over the city they watched and waited. Waited for signs of the foreigners who had come to take their wives and burn their homes. They were equipped with old soviet weaponry: Ak-47s, rocket propelled grenades, sniper rifles, and even a few T-72 tanks, which were also hidden from view. The AA guns were silent but ever watchful of the darkening skies. It was a cold, rainy morning with little visibility. The enemy would certainly have the technical advantage, but with some luck and god's help the guerillas could still maintain the element of surprise. From outside of the city, it looked abandoned. Dead silence was the rule.

Port Belgrade, Generian port city under blockade

The guns thundered. 20 huge shore batteries had been lined on the outskirts of the city. They fired and fired again. The small ships tossed in the sea and every few minutes one lit up like a candle and disappeared. Men scurried across the streets with supplies and messages. One man ran up to General Mustafa, an African born commander in charge of shore defense and one of the emperor's most trusted gnerals.
"General, sir, we have been hammering the blockade all morning and many of the ships are in their watery graves, But i believe it may be time for you to leave. I dont think you want to be here when Rotovia lands.

The general slapped the young man upside the face.
"Lieutenant, i am going to stay here, and i am going to be here when Rotovia lands, and by god im going to help my men kill them. And lieutenant, you are too. The general picked up an M-60 and fired into the air.
"Rotovia is coming for us! Who will help me kill them!"
A resounding "I Will!" echoed in the cold morning air.

"Then follow me to the gates of hell!"
The general and his army charged off into the city.

Through the hatch to the cockpit they could see the bright flashes of light, and knew that there were large shells ripping through the air high overhead. They could almost imagine the tracks of these shells coursing through the air at the blockade vessels they’d passed on their way to the shore. Soon they passed over the Generian shoreline and headed towards their Alberian objectives. Intelligence from the E-767 AWACS and E-8C J-STARS seemed to indicate that the Generians were pulling some of their forces back to defend their major cities rather than keeping them in Alberia. That might bode well for the special forces troops.

Overhead, the first salvos of anti-radar and stand-off ground attack missiles were fired from the F-35A Joint Strike Fighters at air defense radar and missile sites identified by signals intelligence and satellite imagery. These missiles would soon be followed by the massive 2,000 pound GPS-guided bombs of the 30 F-15E Strike Eagles following behind to target Generian air fields, command centers, and other high-value targets in the field.

High in the air over the Aegean Sea, the E-8C Joint STARS ground reconnaissance radar aircraft was a flurry of activity. The Generian shore defense radars had suddenly popped up, acquired targets, and began guiding in shells directed at the Rotovian blockade. A communications link with the Rotovian fleet had already been established, and the J-STARS began transmitting the coordinates of the shore batteries, based upon the aircraft’s counterbattery radar capability. Each shell was tracked back to its source based on trajectory. Hopefully the Rotovians would receive the data and be able to respond before disaster struck the operation.

Generia city, Generian capital
Emperor Vladimir Kreschnev was waiting. Waiting for any news, good or bad. He knew what was happening. He had heard the report of operation hailfire. He was surprised at his mood. He was not afraid, but instead very calm. He would meet his enemy face to face and die if need be, by the sword he had lived by.
The emperor walked upstairs to his intel room.

The soldiers in the capital waited also. They were ready. The monsters who wanted their land would come, there was no question about that. When, they did not know. They had tanks, guns, and artillery, but they knew that the enemy had more, and better. They clutched their weapons tighter. They would not dissappoint their emperor.

Prime Minister Sweeny had a moment of apprehension as he watched events unfold from the New Dublin joint command center. His aircraft had just reported their first weapons launches, and the recon aircraft over the fleet had reported massive fire from shore batteries directed at McQuaide’s new Rotovian allies.

“Miss Fitzgerald, I need you to get a communications link to the Generian capital. Immediately.”

“Emperor Kreschnev, this is Prime Minister Daniel Sweeny, of the Commonwealth of McQuaide. As we speak, aircraft of my nation’s Air Force are attacking your military units operating in the Alberian region of your nation. Your shore batteries are firing upon ships of Rotovia, a nation larger than both of ours combined. Communications intercepts indicate that yet another nation is preparing to become involved on your behalf. We stand on the brink of a war that could ruin the lives of millions. I am calling you, Mr. Emperor, to ask you to consider a cease-fire. Effective immediately, I will call my forces back if you can provide verifiable evidence that you are withdrawing all Generian forces from the Alberian region. Once these simple terms are reached, we can negotiate for a lasting peace.”

Sweeny paused, hoping for a positive response.

Operation Hailfire has landed. The bombers strike first, giving the helicopters enough room to drop their cargo and get back into action. Fightercraft join the helicopters against whatever armored resistence is mustered. Muktari infantry were orchestrated with surgical precision, each piece moving independently, while the force itself acted as a whole to maximize tactical damage and minimize collateral damage.

You have invaded a land that has done you no harm in an act of passing executive judgement that is the jurisdiction of myself and my government. i am aware of the forces in my homeland and the nations i stand against, but i would do myself and my people dishonor if i declared a cease fire. The bombs fell. They leveled homes and buildings and several Anti air batteries were knocked out of action. The remaing guns fired into the sky. Bullets ripped through some of the aircraft and they fell from the sky in a flurry of smoke and flame. The men watched the infantry enter the city. The guerillas opened up with a rain of fire. The Muktar's were caught off guard, but they ragained their composure, targeting whatever they could see. The guerrillas moved quickly however, avoiding what they could. Many were hit but they took cover in the ruins. Rocket propelled grenades flew through the air striking the enemies armored division. The city had exploded into war.

Sweeny held the receiver several seconds after the line had gone dead. He'd seen the transcripts of a conversation between Yeltsin and Milosovich from the night before the NATO deadline. It had gone in much the same direction, and the next day aircraft from eight nations started a bombardment that devastated an already ravaged state.

"Give the 1st Heavy Bomber Squadron clearance to launch, approach, and bombard Generian Army defenses along the beachhead. Precision ordinance only, and only for our projected route into Alberia. I don't want these people thinking we're there to invade them, just to protect Alberia."

COWDEN AIR FIELD, McQUAIDE

Minutes later, pilots from the 1st Composite Air Wing ran from their ready rooms towards their sleek, stealthy-looking Tu-166 Blackjack bombers. The bombers, built as a Russian responce to the American B-1B program, were fast, maneuverable, and carried a hefty bomb load. Soon the aircraft were lifting into the air towards the Black Sea. They would remain at low level for the duration of their flight, approaching by sea to attack. Receiving intelligence from the McQuaide command aircraft overhead, they would be able to update their flight profiles on the flight to respond to the status of Generian air defenses.

A Generian technical sped across a devastated street in Port Belgrade. It swerved and the gunner fired madly at the soldiers. The truck hit a piece of broken concrete and overturned. The gunner got out just in time to see a squad of Mutar infantry coming at him. He ran like all hell was chasing him. The man ducked into a devastated apartment and looked out of the window at the injured driver of the vehicle he had been riding in. The Muktari approached him talked briefly and shot him in the head. The man in the window grimaced and ran to find his fellow soldiers.

Vladimir read the latest field report. They had lost 2 major radar installations in Antonia, 3 in port Belgrade, and 10 others in Alberia. His nation was rapidly going blind. The nation's Anti Aircraft defenses were also being destroyed. McQuaid's airstrikes had taken out numerous sites all across the country. The armored divisions were being hit. Almost the entirety of the 15th armored brigade had been destroyed on the road back to the capital. Luckily he still had a few more divisions stationed elsewhere, but times were looking bleak. Men were dying all over his nation. He had lost a quarter of his force in port Belgrade, but the enemy had had to pay dearly for every inch of ground gained. He still had men waiting in the capital. This war was by no means over he thought to himself.

General Mustafa was hunting. He stalked through the ruined city like a cat looking for prey. He spied a lone Muktari soldier. Mustafa crept up behind the man and stuck a knife deep into his neck. With a cruel laugh he withdrew his crimson instument and severed the man's head. Tying the head to his belt he walked onward.

All of the guns that still stood were trained on the sky. Every now and then a burst of gunfire was heard and isolated screams penetrated the early afternoon air. Two soldiers sat talking.
"But this is civil war. They have no right! Our people cannot be enslaved by foreigners," said the first man
"But what we do here, is it really any better than what they want to do to us? replied the second.
"It is animal cruelty. The people crave violence so the emperor gives them war, no better than a common entertainer."
The first man responded "This is civil war. They have no right." He walked off into the city repeating softly "They have no right."

Muktari forces quickly recovered from the guerilla attack. Akan Muktar, High Commander of the Muktari military, also CEO of the Muktar Corporation, looked over the strategic map of the city. "They want to play cat and mouse, eh? Send forth the guerillas. If there aren't any vehicles, target industrial factories and power plants to shut them down. We have no more of this resistence."

Infantry swarmed the city. Standard troops swept for enemy soldiers, killing military personal on duty and capturing any other foes who favored capture to combat. The Muktari Guerillas brought hell forth on the defenders. Snipers took up the high ground, plugging off enemy guerillas as the went from one ruin to the next. Smoke grenades burst on patrolling enemy forces, sending them into confusion as automatic handguns picked out critical killpoints. The wounded were tended to by the medic in each squad. Casualties for infantry were minimal, but several tanks were lost to the guerillas, and more than a few squadrons were lost to the remaining guns. However, the bombers kept bombing, the fighters kept fighting, the tanks kept tanking, and the helicopters kept helicopting. A force of one million would not be detered by guns and guerillas.

The old C-130 Airframe didn’t look like much. Upon closer inspection, however, the C-130 was an EC-130J Commando Solo II, the only one of its kind in the McQuaide Air Force. It was meant exclusively for propaganda distribution, capable of acting as an airborne radio and television station. Today, it was orbiting just 15 miles off the coast of Generia, under escort by a pair of F-35A JSFs. With the flip of a few switches, the aircraft began transmitting over a great deal of Generia. While jamming all other stations, the following message was repeated every 15 minutes, between broadcasts of relatively accurate news regarding the process of the war.

“Greetings, people of Generia. Special greetings to the members of the Generic Empire’s armed forces. As you know, military forces from several nations are attacking your country as we speak. They are targeting military installations only. Their only goal is to prevent your government from being able to continue its cold-blooded massacre of your Alberian brothers. The Commonwealth of McQuaide guarantees that hostilities will stop if the massacres stop. The best thing you can do to protect yourselves, your friends, and your country is to encourage every military person you know to stop fighting and walk away from his post. We will see such acts not as cowardly but rather as exceptionally brave. Such acts are the only reasonable thing to do, as staying at one’s post will mean certain death to soldiers.”

The movement out of the city was what the air reconnaissance aircraft had been waiting for. The radar data showing vehicles moving out of the city was forwarded to the 12 Tu-166 Blackjacks now less than 80 miles away. Four of the aircraft were carrying "smart" cluster munitions in the hopes that a target like this would show up. The 500 pound bombs each carried 72 auto-targeting sub-munitions, a mix of anti-personel, HE, and anti-armor munitions. Each of the bombs could saturate an area the size of an American football field, picking out the concentrations of personel and vehicles in each with IR sensors.

Each of those four aircraft changed their flight plans to target the ring of Generian military units encircling the city. The other 8 bombers carrying larger 2,000 pound laser guided bombs were to target bridges, road overpasses, and rail yards that were being designated by the McQuaide special forces reconnaissance teams as military transport targets for movement into Alberia.

In ancient Muktari mythology, it is said that the Muktari decended from the fox, for three reasons. First, the were clever. This was proven by the strategy in which the city was assaulted. Second, they were fierce. This was proven by the means in which the Muktari combed the city for surviving enemy soldiers, making sure not to cause civilian casualties. The third reason is about to become apparent: When cornered, they show their teeth.
Tanks began lock themselves in place, guns pointing toward the surrounding barricade. Their primary guns were extended, the shock absorbers latched on, and the accelerator readied. The tanks were converting into artillary.
The Generic forces did not expect this, and most likely had trouble reacting. What forces did manage to come up with a decision in time were targetted by the helicopters and fightercraft. The Muktari were not like the common rabble of the Empire. They were warriors born.

Operation: Achilles' Last Stand

It was over, but it wasnt over. Mustafa knew what had happened. They were isolated. He had two options, flight and survival or standing and fighting like a man. He chose the second. He turned to his men for the last time to address them as a man.
"My brothers, it is time. Time for this suffering to end. Today we will all be togethor in paradise, where they say the wine flows like water and each man is given 72 virgins. Does this not sound good, friends? But first we must go through more suffering, the worst yet. We will make our last stand here, on this spot, in our homeland. Is there not a better way to die than by fighting for what we love? Do you see that," he said pointing to the sky filled with smoke, "That, brethren is the same sky that the gods are looking through to see into your hearts. Do not dissappoint them, and when you next look at that sky on your journey into the heavens make sure your eyes are open. Even in death do not close your eyes! Now friends, brothers, sons, countrymen, stand fast against the wave of death that comes towards us and bring upon you the honor that you desire. It is there in plain view, now take it!"

The muktaris came screaming out of the streets surrounding the square where the men stood. The Generians let out a great yell as one man and charged to meet their enemy. The combat was fierce. The Generians fought like the beasts that they had been born as. They fought with a ferocity that would have made Akhilleus proud and the gods tremble. They used their rifles as clubs, bashing the skulls of their enemies in and then when they had destroyed their weapons they drew their knives and slashed and stabbed through the wall of Muktaris. The men turned red and howled at the sky. The wounded ripped shrapnel from their arms and thrusted it into their enemies flesh.

At this instant Mustafa ceased to be human. He became the embodiement of death, Shiva the destroyer breathed through his lungs and saw through his eyes. Mustafa ripped the eyes out of a man with his bare hands. He wielded a machete that he had kept stored in his belt. The men fell in a wide circle like freshly reaped grain. He felt the sharp pang of a bayonet in his spine but he fought on. Then another and another but he fought on. He slew everything in his path. He bacame addicted to the blood that covered the entirety of his body. He was stabbed for the 20th time and his eyes began to darken. The light of heaven appeared in his head. He roared and fell to his knees. With his last of his strength he screamed with a force that shook the earth and heaven and made the men in the square tremble:
"GENERIA!"

With this the battle was over. All of the Generians lay slewn on the streets. All of their eyes were open and they all lay facing the sky.

Outside of Port Belgrade:

Fire Team Baker, 1st Squad, 2nd Platoon, Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 23rd Light Infantry Brigade. Thinking about his place in the big scheme of things, Chief Warrant Officer Jayson Owens felt so small. At the same time, laying there on a ridge overlooking one of the major roads leading to the Generian capital from Port Belgrade, he know he was at the tip of the spear. He and his spotter had been in place for more than 24 hours now, reporting on troop movements and providing laser designation of higher-value targets like tanks and Anti-Air systems. Several smoking hulks paid testimony to the success of their work to date.

CWO Owens thought back to Chechnya. The terrain wasn’t that different. Not that different from his home in McQuaide, either. As he was stuck in his reverie, movement down the road caught his eye. A group of open vehicles, driving down the road away from where he knew the heaviest bombing was being concentrated. They weren’t in any formation, and through his scope he could see wounded men strapped down to litters on the hoods of the jeeps and trucks. Owens nudged his spotter, who tapped his finger twice on the stock of the laser designator he was spotting through.

For a moment, Owens considered the rag-tag group pass by. In Afghanistan he had been ambushed once while trying to evacuate a group of wounded men. However, Owens recalled the pictures he had been shown in the pre-op briefing. Men firing from heavy machine guns mounted atop jeeps just like the ones he looked at now, into a crowd of civilians. He knew then that he would do everything in his power to kill every Generian soldier he could find, and he would start with these. Taking aim at the driver of the first vehicle, Owens regulated his breathing and heartbeat, clicking the windage adjustment of his scope left one click. Placing his finger over the trigger, Owens fired an infared laser beam onto the windshield of the jeep to get a range. Another scope adjustment, and he gently pulled the trigger, firing a 7.62 match-grade bullet he had assembled himself towards the brain stem of the first driver. From nearly 700 meters away, Owen’s second shot, at the driver of the last vehicle in the convoy, was in the air before the first one struck. Followed by another, then another, then a fifth. He quickly reloaded the M-24. He might not kill them all, but he would make them pay for what they had done.

Outside of Generia City:

“Fire Team Acre to Command, Acre to Command, fire mission, fire mission… Grid reference transmitted via ANP-199 now. Estimate eight armor, T-72-M Main Battle Tanks, eight APCs, BMP-2 class. Two dozen trucks, Ural class, 5 ton. Appears enemy in general retreat, moving on Route 3 towards Generia City. Request immediate ordinance on target. Will designate on command.”

“Acre, this is Command, we confirm receipt of coordinates, dispatching slicks to your location now. ETA 10 minutes.”

The AH-1Z Super Cobras were the newest refit of the venerable attack helicopter design. With a beefier engine, four rotor blades, and advanced electronics, they were capable of deploying the same heavy ordinance as the AH-64 Apache. Dispatched 20 minutes before the transmission by the special forces spotter from the deck of the MSDFS Gabaldon, the flight of four Cobras had been waiting for just such a message. They swung towards the new target location, sweeping towards the road at 180 mph. Soon they were hovering behind a small stand of trees, using them as cover. According to the spotter team, the column was just on the other side of the stand, a mere 500 meters away.

“Snake 6 to Snake Flight, pop up on three for Hellfire engagement of armor. Gunners, take the trucks with your main guns. One, two three!”

The helicopters arose, each firing a Hellfire anti-tank missile at an armored vehicle. As soon as the first Hellfires had terminated, a second salvo was fired by the Cobra pilots. As the pilots concentrated on hovering and firing, the gunners were walking their 20mm main guns back and forth from truck to truck, sending explosive rounds into the light vehicles. Two cobras ceased firing and broke formation, sweeping around to the back of the column to engage any infantry that had dismounted to attempt an escape.

Aegean Sea:

From the command bridge of her flagship, Vice Admiral Ellie Fitzgerald watched the horizon gravely. Losses had been remarkably light to date—much better than she could ever hope for. One sniper team had failed to report in and was presumed dead after reporting being located by a Generian patrol. Two F-15Es were struck by radar guided SAMs that had been ‘blind fired,’ without an acquisition radar. One of the Pave Low Vs was ripped open during an insertion by a ZSU-23M anti-aircraft gun. She made it back to the Gabaldon, but the passenger compartment had been devastated. Of the 40 special forces soldiers aboard, 25 had been killed outright, and another 10 were hospitalized. Looking at the gaping holes in the fuselage of the stricken bird, it was a miracle they hadn’t crashed.

A picture of the gore-covered passenger compartment had been captured by a press crew aboard the ship, and transmitted all over McQuaide and some of the international channels. Like the pictures of American pilots being dragged through Mogadishu, the picture of a soldier’s helmet, a fist sized hole punched through it, was circulating over and over again. The people of McQuaide saw for the first time in the conflict the horror of the war they had waged.

"Can't you see that this is civil war? The man was silent.
"Come speak with me, we are both soldiers. Speak to me as one soldier to another" The man was silent.

Prime Minister Sweeny grimaced when he saw the pilot shot through the head, slumping to the ground. Sweeny had been awake for more than 56 hours, living on coffee and the occasional piece of raisin bread or sausage. He had divided his time between monitoring the war, addressing the parliament, and holding three separate press conferences. For a moment after the execution, he considered rearming his Blackjack bombers with 2,000 pound iron bombs and 500 pound cluster munitions, flying them over Generia City, and reducing the city to a pile of rubble. He then remembered why war had been declared in the first place, and what they were fighting for. The Emperor would pay, but not his subjects.

“Get that sonufabitch on the horn. NOW!”

Establishing a connection to the Generic Empire’s government was exponentially more difficult this time around. Things seemed to be in chaos in the city. After his first failed attempt at diplomacy with the Generian Empire, he held little hope for this attempt, but seeing the carnage of the Muktari attack, he felt he must try again.

“Listen, I’ve never been good at this diplomatic song and dance, so I’m going to get to the point. Mr. Emperor, you must see now the futility of your continued resistance. My Air Force has established air supremacy over your entire nation, and the allied coalition is attacking your army at every point. If you do not surrender now, you must realize that you will be defeated entirely, and we can make no guarantees of the safety of either you, your family, or your administration. You have seen better than I the ferocity of the Muktari infantry.”

“Surrender now, completely, to the coalition. You and your administration will be taken into custody safely, and provided a fair and public trial. Your family will be protected, and your people will suffer no longer. Alberia will be given status as an autonomous province with the ability to vote on full independence in one year. Reparations will be paid by your Empire for losses caused in this conflict. These are the terms of the Commonwealth, you will have to negotiate with the others in the coalition yourself. I am ordering a general cease-fire for my forces, for one hundred and twenty minutes. After that, there will be no negotiating with the Commonwealth of McQuaide, and we will commence operations that will only result in the absolute, total and complete domination of you and your people. Mr. Emperor, I promise that if you do not accept this offer, your body shall hang from Collins Bridge here in New Dublin, for the world to ridicule. Accept my offer, Mr. Emperor.”

Men started rushing to the V-121's and RAA-M's, arming them with an assortment of Air to Ship missiles, cruise missiles, and Air to Air missiles. A similar practice was occuring at many airports in the nation, although many included bombers with Air to Ground weapons, instead of ATS ones.

---------------

From Greater Mobica, 80 divisions crammed into naval ships, and headed toward algeria, swooping past south africa and going up the african west coast. These men has for the most part fought in algeria, Zimbabwe, or both recently, and were in full combat mode. The ships were on full alert, although in international waters, with war not declared on the other nations as of then.

To Nikolai Kukov-

It will take at least ten hours for my men to fully enter algerian waters, and get to your nation. I do not wish to start the air war yet, as they could make a counter-attack then, and I want to give them time to sweat it out. Just defend yourselfs, and try to raise militias. As sorrowing as it may be, hide yourself and other officials. Defend the city with as many civilians as will help. A molotov cocktail can kill as many troops as a tank can.[/code:1:03b4ecf46c]

The enlisted personnel will be granted amnesty, and an open and fair tribunal will review the actions of the members of your officer corps, to identify war crimes suspects. Those suspected of crimes against humanity will be subject to fair and public trial. I am at this moment ordering my forces to stand down.

"Sir, there's trouble. Chellis has dispatched a fleet larger than all of the Commonwealth."

PRIME MINISTER's COMMUNIQUE TO CHELLIS GOV't AUTHORITY

The Commonwealth of McQuaide, before receiving your ultimatum, achieved a peace settlement with the Emperor of the Generic Empire. As of 1435 hours today, all Commonwealth of McQuaide Sel Defense Forces are standing down. The McQuaide Fleet is ordered to remain in international waters while our forces are recovered.

Although the Commonwealth was willing to conduct peacekeeping operations in the Generic Empire, we are willing to abandon this task to others should you demand it.

The Commonwealth stands by it defense of bsic human rights. The Generic Empire was not putting down a revolution, but rather conducting a systematic extermination of the Alberian people. We are providing in this transmission RC-135 communications intercepts that prove this beyond a reasonable doubt. The guilty parties can be identified and placed on trial.

From what chellian advisors were able to find, they were not killing alberian citizens indiscriminatly. Instead, they were taking out all the members of the Alberian church sect of Genericism. Chellis had a similar situation with communists, and when they rebelled against relocation, we had to use force. Same as Generic empire, he is simply trying to take these jihadist religious psycho's out. They are obviously resisting relocation. No one even offered to take them in, you just started firing the guns. Shame on you all. You have eight hours.

-------------------

A chellian G-111 civilian aircraft took off from Algeria, and took about fifty men to AMF Greek. The men then chartered to a border airfield of Generic empire, and began heading toward the capital, so they could be of technical help to the Generics, mostly in militia acquiring, guerilla warfare, and especially communications. To maintain support, Generic empire would need to control the airwaves.

OOC: Just a few comments. I recently moved massive amounts of troops into Mozambique, before it was Greater Mobica. When FWS collapsed, and I didnt get to fight him, the men were preparing to come back home, with the regular units in Mozambique to secure it. However, this came up, and there was a mass of ships and troops in the close area. Also, Chellis saved algeria, and chellis and matich took duel control of it. While Im not the greatest naval strategist, sadly, Having a nation capable of sending aircraft on regular-range missions to the area, allows me to have a great aircraft presence, while you mostly have to use long range bombers, long range fighter-bombers, and carrier craft... Again, just a bit of OOC info, for the sake of preparing for a good roleplay.

OOC: just some info, and a brief summary of the conflict for Chellis. My nation is small and has been through a previous civil war and genocide by rebels in which Buchoria aided the empire in attaining peace. The current emperor, a product of an interim government established after the first war's devastation, was trying to put down extremists, who terrorized the nation. The nations who attacked us were unprovoked. We merely defended ourselves when they landed. Our nation is built on militias and guerilla armies, because of our history in the first civil war, when most of the current army was trained in guerilla operations because of the nature of the urban warfare.

The Muktaris hold 1 city: the port of Belgrade, where my men under the valient Achilles-esque General Mustafa made a courageous last stand. There is a large blockade off the nation's shore preventing commerce and supply. Our main problem is the defense of Generia City, the capital of Generia.

Generia City, Generia

Emperor Vladimir Kreschnev's voice sounded over the city wide speaker system while his loyal soldiers waited.

"Countrymen, today is indeed a great day for Generia! I have called our forces back from all corners of the empire not in a retreat, but in an act of defiance to the invaders that so threaten our great nation. You see my friends, today we no longer stand alone against the wave of evil warmongers. We have found an ally in the Great and Honorable nation of Chellis. They have sent us a small group of soldiers to help aid us in preparing to hold off the enemy until the larger Chellian force can arrive. Today we may stand fast knowing that our way of life will not die, but that, if we fight, we can look forward to a future for ourselves and for our family. If you stand fast today we will truly be able to say "Tomorrow is a new day." Good luck and Godspeed. Glory to Generia now and always."

Any further indiscretions on the part of the Generic Empire will be dealt with through us, the reformers. The bright red light on the camera soon became a void, and Elliot knew his time to reach out to the world was at a close, he simply wished that the response would be one to bring him elation, not disappointment.

Chellis scoffs at this accusation. For these two nations to have a military of hundreds of millions, they would have to have nearly twenty percent of their populations in the military, something that would cripple them horribly. 5% is a strain on a nation, and us usually only used during large war.

OOC: Basically, dont godmode.

The Muktari assault on the surrounding forces was strengthened after breaking the back of the intruding forces. Soon they would break their backs and charge toward the capitol city. Anuhaka smiled on his children today.

MINISTRY OF STATE DISPATCH

"The Commonwealth of McQuaide, a participant in military operations against the Generic Empire, recognizes that an impass has been reached, and the nations involved in the present conflict stand on the precipice of a great and terrible war that stands to claim thousands of lives. "

"The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of McQuaide, Daniel Sweeny, established an agreement with the Emperor of the Generic Empire which we call upon all nations to honor. This agreement, which establishes a cease-fire between the Commonwealth of McQuaide and the Generic Empire, provides for the amnesty of Generic Empire enlisted personnel, calls for the Generic Empire Army Officer Corps to be reviewed for possible violations of the Geneva Convention, Nuremburg Codes, and other conventions regulating the actions of military personnel in relation to possible acts of genocide and mistreatment of prisoners of war. The agreement also called for the establishment of a semi-autonymous Alberian province and elections to be held in the Alberian region within one year to determine whether or not the Alberian people desire to become a free and independant state."

"For the review of the International Community, the Commonwealth of McQuaide is making public certain evidence the proves conclusively that the Generian Armed Forces were acting under direct orders to exterminate women, children, and male civilians of the Alberian people in a concerted and organized attempt to destroy that people group and consolodate Generian people."

Attatched to the message were nearly a dozen radio intercept transcriptions from field units of the Generian Army, to the effect that they were being ordered to kill civilians in the Alberian Region:

The McQuaide Ministry of State also attatched several versions of the following footage. in addition to the news feed, a motion capture from an infared satellite overhead provided chilling footage of the killing of innocent children:

GEI INTERNATIONAL LIVE COVERAGE

Hello ladies and gentlemen! im here in the Alberian capital of Belgrast and it is quite a show today. The Generians have just brought up the 15th armored division and are getting ready to level a school. This should be exciting, oh look there they go. Look at those flames. There seem to be some children running out into the streets. The tanks have just turned their fire on the children, ladies and gentlemen, what sport this is today! They've stopped moving i suppose its time to move on. Stay with us for more live coverage. Glory to the Empire! Death to Alberia!

"And this is Captain Michael Gallagher of the McQuaide Air Force. Captain Gallagher was a father of three children, a loving husband, and an avid volunteer in his community. Two days ago, Captain Gallagher's aircraft was shot down over Generia during a raid against an air defense facility near Port Belgrade. He was captured immediately, taken to the Generian capital of Generia City, and tortured. Our intelligence suggests that the Emperor himself had something to do with the interrogation. After he was tortured and interrogated, the Generian Empire put him in front of a camera and boradcast the following:"

The television cameras turned on. The small red light was blinking. The McQuaid soldier was watching that light. A man in a black hood stood behind him with a pistol trained at the back of his head. The McQuaid soldier began reciting an "Our Father." After he had finished he stared directly into the cameras and the man in the hood pulled the trigger.

Across the globe at the very same instant people gasped at the live CNN footage.

The most damning evidence against the Generian Empire's administration was a communications intercept proving that the Emperor himself had ordered a cover-up of the incident to elicit international support.

"As you can see, the Generian Empire was not simply putting down a rebellion. There is clear and damning evidence that the Generian Army had orders from the Emperor himself to kill off the Alberian people, and then that the Emperor attempted to cover this action up in an attempt to fool you, the members of the International Community."

"For these reasons, the Commonwealth of McQuaide calls upon all states involved in this conflict to encourage the Generian Empire to honor the agreement made between their Emperor and the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of McQuaide."

This is insulting to me and my people. McQuaide obviously wants this war to end to save their own skins so they are fabricating lies to damn Generia. These soldiers acted upon their own accord and any of them found guilty have been taken into our custody before the war began. McQuaide simply wants the empire to crumble for their own reasons. They have, on several occasions, committed their own bloody war crimes. I remember a specific incident of ambush of a medical convoy heading towards Generia City. We stand poised on the brink of a massive conflict, the likes of which the world has not seen since the second world war. Generia and Chellis stand against an international coalition bent on our destruction. I stand here to beg this force to consider what they are doing. A war on this scale could result in the deaths of millions upon millions of people, on either side. We do not want this. Official FPS Statement
Since the begining, FPS has not intended to open hostilities, and is happy that GE feels the same way. Instead, we are simply using a serious form of objection to your mass slaughters, and hope it is seen as such, and does not lead to a military conflict.

On another note, whilst FPS can (although only slightly) see your point of view in killing off rebels, we believe it might be going overboard, and will be more then open to your nation exiling these enemies of the state to our nation. Not only would this increase your public opinion, it would get the job done with less expenses (as we would fun the transporting), and would also destroy any moral issues in your population, as well as cease much of the destruction arising from attacking these rebels. If such action were to be taken, our nation would cease it's military blockade, and fully pull out, not needing to keep any peacekeepers (although an embassy wouldn't be a bad idea, and likewise). We await your response.

MINISTRY OF STATE RELEASE:

The Commonwealth of McQuaide desires to propose a permanant cease-fire agreement with the following conditions:

1) That the Emperor of the Generian people makes a full and public statement taking responcibility for the deaths of innocent civilians in the Alberian Region. Furthermore, that the Emperor of the Generian people appologizes for the murder of Captain Michael Gallagher, a prisoner of war killed while under the custody of the Generian Army.

2) That the Generic Republic remove immediately all military forces from the Alberian Region for the duration of peace-keeping operations. Their presence would serve only to instigate acts of terrorism and rebellion, not to prevent them. In the stead of Generian military presence, the Commonwealth of McQuaide is prepared to dedicate up to three brigades of light infantry forces to the Alberian region as part of a multinational peacekeeping organization to suppress any terrorist organizations and to keep the peace.

3) That the Generic Republic promise to conduct free and open elections for all National government offices within 1 year of the ratification of the peace aggreement.

4) With the exception of designated peace-keeping forces not to exceed 6 standard-sized brigades from each participant nation, all foreign military forces are to be removed from the Generic Republic immediately, and all offensive combat operations against the Generic Republic ceased.

We believe these points to be reasonable and logical steps that would encourage a lasting and meaningful peace.

Also, at this time, the blockade is being stretched to cover the entire GE shoreline. FPS blockade ships will not, however, enter GE waters. Finally, only the original two FPS carrier fleets will be continuing the blockade.

(( OOC to GE: The presence of McQuaide special ground forces were not ever truely detected by your forces--with the exception of sniper actions that could be attributed to rebel activity or Muktari forces, they weren't engaged. Just a trivial little note, really.

And now that I'm at it, let me say this has been damn fun, folks. Lots of fun. Rare to see a RP thread in here without the numberwanking and godmoding and such that we normally associate with the II thread))

Chellis believes number two is counterproductive. Generic should be allowed to at least have CO-IN forces in alberia, to take out the terrorists. Also, we assume number three doesnt include elections to allow alberia to seperate from Generic Empire, as its illegal in most nations to seperate your area from the nation... It would certainly not be fair to not let Generic decide that... And for number four, we assume that doesnt include chellian troops, who, if generic allows, will come in to help rebuild the Generic military. After all, the military shouldnt be punished, it was after all attacked, not attacking.

We see no reason why chellis wouldnt be allowed to move in men, its not like we wish to start a war when everyone has been satisfied. However, if it pleases you, we would only move in two support divisions(A largely defensive based division), to help rebuild the Generic Military...

Imperial Statement Regarding Commonwealth of McQuaid's Terms For Cease Fire:

The emperor of Generia agrees to all of the set conditions. Forces will be withdrawn from Alberia as soon as the peacekeepers arrive, but no sooner. A public statement is to follow regarding the murder of Captain Gallagher. A Free and open election is set to be held one year from now. The Generian people will await the withdrawal of all forces still in the region.

We agree with the fact that Chellian troops be allowed to stabilize the region and aid in reconstruction. We will allow elections as previously stated, but under no circumstances will these election allow Alberia to be deemed independent. We will not, however retain military presence in Alberia, but will instead rely on the peacekeeping force that is said to arrive, for we agree with McQuaid in that we feel a force of Generian soldiers may provoke acts of terrorism.

FPS Retraction Statement
With the agreement of the GE to McQuaide's conditions, the nation (and specifically the congress) of FPS believes that no further actions need be taken against the GE. At this time, the FPS blockade is being fully withdrawn. Chellis may move in whatever they like, although we ask they not go overboard (lest GE turn out being a Chellis occupied state).

These actions are backed by FPS Congression act 12341234123471203947120394702342374.423947239 (Please note, this is the shortened). FPS also, having not been involved in the hostilities, will not be taking part in the peacekeeping effort unless specifically asked to by other involved nations.

MINISTRY OF STATE RELEASE

In responce to the valid and strong arguements made by the Chellis negotiators, the Commonwealth of McQuaide is prepared to make the following changes to its proposed peace agreement:

1) SAME That the Emperor of the Generian people makes a full and public statement taking responcibility for the deaths of innocent civilians in the Alberian Region. Furthermore, that the Emperor of the Generian people appologizes for the murder of Captain Michael Gallagher, a prisoner of war killed while under the custody of the Generian Army.

2) That the Generic Republic remove immediately all military forces from the Alberian Region for the duration of peace-keeping operations, with the exception of up to two standard-sized light infantry brigades. These units shall have attatched to them no artillery units with bore diameter greater than 60mm, no tracked vehicle units, and no airborne units other than unarmed utility helicopters.

The Generic Empire as a whole nation shall vote as to whether or not the Alberian region shall achieve a permanant autonymous or independent status.

4) With the exception of designated peace-keeping forces not to exceed 6 standard-sized brigades from each participant nation, all foreign military forces are to be removed from the Generic Empire immediately, and all offensive combat operations against the Generic Empire ceased. [b]The Chellis Armed Forces, if requested by the Generic Empire government, shall be authorized by this agreement to remain in the Generic Empire for as long as necessary and welcome to assist in the rebuilding of the nation. However, Chillean forces will be limited to no more than three brigades in the Alberian region, as per clause #2 of this agreement.

Chellis fully agrees, and has no intent in moving into the alberian region. It is Generic Empires war, after all.(:P)

Chellis has begun moving five of the divisions toward Generic, but will not unload them until Generic gives the authorization. There rest are returning to Greater Mobica or Algeria, and a small number of chellian air units are preparing to fly to Generic, of course waiting for authorization as well. These are meant to serve as a reconnaisance and defensive force, mainly.

NEW DUBLIN, McQUAIDE

No one cheered in the New Dublin command bunker of the McQuaide Self Defense Force when the Prime Minister signed off on the peace aggreement. They had not achieved the sort of diplomatic success they had been looking for, but they had at least stopped the murder of innocent civilians.

When the Prime Minister signed a line at the bottom of a set of deployment orders, however, the room burst into loud cheering. The orders read simply "make sail for MSDF Naval Port Facility, New Dublin, fastest speed. Bravo Zulu on an excellent operation." Orderlies brought in bottles of wine and champagne, and the overworked command staff lifted a celebratory toast. McQuaide's first test in combat since they became an independent and sovereign state was being considered a success by the military, the press, and the people.

After a few rounds of congratulatory toasting, Prime Minister Sweeny took a more solemn moment to toast the memory of the 56 McQuaide men and women who had been killed in combat. The official count was only 49--seven bodies were from the special forces ground units, which had thankfully been recovered by their comrades. No one had been left behind. Although planning had to be done to prepare a peacekeeping force for deployment, that would not be done tonight. For the night, Sweeny dismissed all but the essential watch officers. The rest of the men and women of the command center were instructed to return to their friends and families and join in the general celebrations occuring in the streets.

Sweeny, who had left the underground crisis center only to give press briefings, went home to his executive residence in the capital complex, for the first time in neary seven days. Without bothering to remove the business suit he wore, he flopped onto his bed and fell immediately to sleep.

In the coming days, elements of the McQuaide contribution to the peacekeeping presence began to deploy for Alberia. First to land was the 20th Airborne Infantry Brigade. They were soon joined by the following units:

19th Airmobile Infantry Brigade
21st Airborne Infantry Brigade
10th Marine Light Mechanized Infantry Brigade
1st Light Infantry Brigade (Military Police)
6th Engineering Brigade (Airborne)
6th Support Brigade

The Commonwealth of McQuaide would first like to thank the Rotovian Naval Command for its crucial support in providing an effective blockade of the Generian coastline, Without that blockade, offensive operations from the McQuaide naval task force deployed to the region would have been impossible.

At present a peace aggreement has been tentatively aggreed to by the major parties involved in hostilities in the region. A copy of this agreement will be forwarded to you and your national command authority for review and approval.

As part of this aggreement and the Commonwealth of McQuaide's continued committment to the security of the human rights of all Generian civilians, six brigades of the McQuaide Self Defense Force are being deployed to a centralized peacekeeping outpost in the Alberian region. From there, McQuaide units will conduct patrol operations and begin assisting the Alberian people with the rebuilding of their nation.

The continued participation of the Rotovian government is potentially essential to establishing stability in the region, and the Commonwealth of McQuaide invites the Rotovian Armed Forces to deploy a peacekeeping contingant to the area at the earliest possible convenience and pursuant to the peace accords aggreed upon by the participants in this conflict.

Generic Imperial Response to Commonwealth of McQuaid, Chellis, and Rotovia:

First off we completely support the deployment of peacekeepers in Alberia and are more than happy to abide by the terms set down in order to achieve a full and lasting peace. Chellis, we give you our authorization to unload forces into our nation. We will welcome the Rotovian forces with open arms into our capital for the formal signing of a peace agreement. Elections are already being prepared in support of term 3 of the peace agreement. Exactly 2 light infantry brigades are to be stationed in 1 less volatile area of Alberia to moniter terrorist activities ONLY. It has been a pleasure working with such reasonable men as yourselves and we of the Generic Empire sincerely hope that this peace will provide a lasting foundation for stability in our nation.

Emperor Vladimir Kreschnev looked out of the window of his imperial palace, from a room he had not entered since the day the conflict began. He had been in the bunker and had not seen the sky for a long while. He felt the cool morning breeze pass through the shattered glass of his window and the muggy warm air hit his face. The sky was a clear blue color and he could see curls of smoke rising from all over the city. He looked down into the streets where soldiers laughed and joked with one another as they lay their weapons on the ground. They were going home, away from all of this. Back to their jobs as farmers, and shopkeepers, and businessmen. It suddenly dawned upon him what these men had done in the past few days. The had taken up arms to stand against a professional, trained, multinational army, and they had come out the other end, for better or worse. These men were heros. They had looked death in the face and said "i dare you." The emperor thought about port Belgrade, about the stories he had heard of his beloved friend and commander Mustafa. How he had fought like a caged beast and how the bodies lay piled high around him when he fell. The emperor thought of all the death his men had seen, and of all those who would not be going back to their jobs today, but were instead in paradise laughing with one another and telling war stories of glory and honorable trial and death. On this day Emperor Vladimir Kreschnev, supreme commander of Generian armed forces, leader of the empire of Generia, savior to the empire, sat down and wept for his people.
