NLA Defeated! (USN only/Sarzonia too)

In the Nellisland national cemetery at the foot of Mount Gimli a funeral is taking place.

The band is playing a slow rendition of Amazing Grace. While the very few people who have come to pay there respects are bowing there heads.

The man that they are paying there respects to is none other then the former leader of Nellisland, Nellis. He had died two days ago in his Royal Palace at about 8:00 A.M.

Nellis's son, Mike Nellis who was secretary of defense for his father had finished giving a stunningly beautiful eulogy and took his seat. He began to think about how his father had turned from the great man he grew up with to the psycho pathic dictator he became. As his mine drifted away from the service he called the day his father died:

They were in Nellis's office in his Palace. He had walked in to give his father the latest reports on the Sarzonia Civil War.

"Father! I have the reports!"

"Bring them to me!" he bellowed. "What! Is this true?"

Mike sighed. "Yes, father! It appears as though your plans to get back at Sarzonia is failing. Bausch is going to surrender within the next two or three days. I think we should stop supporting the rebels before Sarzonia finds out and a war starts. We can not..."

"Shut up! Are you telling me that my grand army can't handle a war with Sarzonia!"

"Yes...father, are army is too spread out in other nations right now and they are vastly under trained."

"Here is what we are going too do give the order to mobilize the first through tenth divisions, should be about 250,000 soldiers, and the Royal Air Force!"

"You would send our soldiers, the ones you follow your command, into a needless war that we have nothing to do with. The international community will gang up on us! We will be annihilated."

"Give the order...Now!"

"No...I refuse to give the order! I quit! I don't know what has happened to you father you are crazy. The people trust you and you have betrayed them. I can not do this anymore, I'm leaving!"

Mike turns around and heads toward the door but the two guards block his way out.

"I don't think you are going any where, my son!" His father sneers and then gestures Mike into a seat.

Mike sits down and says, "Why can't I just leave! I don't want to do this anymore. Let me go! Now!"

"Why! So you can go to the press and tell them everything! How I had my Special Forces blow up the oil fields in Sarzonia and how I have been supplying Bausch with weapons since they seceded. Now you may not want to give the order but you..."

"Shut up! I don't take orders from you anymore! They trust you and you abuse it!"

Nellis opens the third drawer of his desk and pulls and gun and points it at Mike's head!

"Listen to me! I will do what I like. I will go on TV and tell those idiots that Sarzonia has been planning to attack our nation...and they'll believe me. Because I'm there benevolent dictator! And if I send our soldiers into a battle and they die, what do I care. I am getting my revenge!"

Nellis cocks back the gun, puts his finger on the trigger, and shouts "This is my nation! And you are not ruining this for me!"

BANG!

Nellis falls to the floor.

One of the guards at the door, who had been listening the whole time, had taken out his pistol and shot Nellis in the chest right before he could shoot Mike!

Mike gets up and looks at his father's dead body with disgust! Spits on his father and says, "Good Riddance! Now we can run this country the right way."

Mike thoughts go back to the funeral where the few people in attendance, mainly because Nellis was anti-social and the true story had leaked to the press and been confirmed the day before, stood up and put roses on the coffin one by one. But when it was Mike's time to put the rose on the casket he crumples it up and leaves the ceremony. With a single tear running down his cheek!

(OOC: The only people I want involved with this RP are my fellow nation in the United Sylarion Nations only. The exception to the rule is Sarzonia!)

Now that there is no stable government in Nellisland many groups are trying to be power! This is a list and description of those groups:

Nellisland Government: This is a very unstable group who are currently being run by Michael Nellis, son of dead leader Nellis. They mainly consist of old government leaders who are opposed to how Nellis ran the government. There goal is too achieve a democracy in Nellisland. Not many of the citizens trust them.

Nellis Loyalists: This group is made up of a select few because after the press reported all of the things that Nellis had been doing no one trusts them. There goal is to put another dictator in office. Not much is none about the leader is except that s/he is a highly decorated officer.

Jews for Nellisland (JFN): Since Nellisland's number one government is Jewish (ahead of Catholism by five percent!) they want to have a say in the government. There is no clear leader but it is believed that it is one of the higher up Rabbi's in the nation. They also want a democracy, but unlike the government, they want a completely secular government. The JFN is gaining major support!

Nellisland Liberation Army: This group even more unstable then the government. They consist mostly of soldiers from all different parts of Nellisland. Nothing is known about the leaders. In public they tell people that they want another dictator in office, but not as ruthless as Nellis. However behind the scenes they want a totalitarianism government system so that there will be military rule!

Nellisland Citizens: These are the people of Nellisland who have yet to decide which group they trust! Everyday more citizens join other groups and each grows stronger. They are presently very untrustful of the Nellisland Loyalists!

President Mike Sarzo called the President Pro Tempore of the Sarzonian Senate and told her he changed his mind.

"I'd prefer to lead the team myself," Sarzo said. "I hope you understand."

"Mr. President, it's not safe!" a member of Sarzo's private guard said. "It's so unstable over there that you might be taken prisoner."

"The greatest rewards result from taking the great risks," Sarzo said, trying to convince both the private guard and himself that he was doing the right thing by leading the team himself. "Besides, Mark is on his way to Hamilton and Nicole can handle things in Woodstock while I'm gone."

"All the same, sir, I wouldn't leave without an armed guard."

"I'm daring, not foolish," Sarzo said. "You can come along, but remember to respect the laws and customs of Nellisland when we're over there."

Sarzo had contacted Colonel Taylor Ash and asked him to lead a peacekeeping force of 25,000 troops. The President boarded the ISS Endymion, the latest ship in the Alliance-class super cruiser class and found his cabin. He insisted on taking regular officer's quarters rather than the special diplomatic quarters reserved for world leaders. The Endymion set off with two Province-class cruisers and the Ithaca, a first in class light cruiser.

The Constitution sailed to rendevous with the rest of the fleet, carrying the peacekeeping soldiers and equipment. The ship normally would have been the flagship of the fleet but since it was destined to be a permanently commissioned museum ship as the first vessel in its illustrious navy. It had one final mission to perform first.

"Contact Mike Nellis and notify him that we are on our way. And tell him that I've decided to help oversee the mission."

"We'll do that, sir," Commander Tucker Moraine said with a smile. He was young, almost too young to be a first officer of such a large ship, but he was well-respected by the suits in the navy for his valor in battle and for his ability to solve problems on the fly.

"When we invite Defense Secretary Nellis aboard the Endymion, please treat him as a head of state, even though Nellisland really doesn't have one right now," Moraine told his crew. The crew replied, "aye sir" in unison. It was a sweet sound to the ears of Captain George Nelson, Jr. Nelson was the son of the first Admiral in Sarzonia's history and he staked his reputation on Moraine as his first officer. He was pleased the crew ws so respectful.

"We should be arriving at our destination by the end of the day," Moraine told Sarzo. "We've notified Nellisland of our coordinates."

Sarzo smiled. He paced his quarters with the nervous energy of someone on a first diplomatic mission before the smell of the ocean air in his cabin and the sound of the waves led him to a peaceful night's sleep.

In the small town of Boller located thirty-miles south-east of the capital. A small black 2004 Intrepid pulls up to a local church. A man wearing a standard Nellisland Army uniform gets out of the car. His face is hidden by a white mask. He walked with a limp which mean that had a disability of some kind. On his arm several patches that provided some background of the history of his service:

1) The largest patch that was shaped like a dragon with a sword running through it meant that he had seen much combat and had won.

2) The medal below it that was shaped liked a cross and brightly colored with Nellisland national colors meant that he had been wounded in combat.

3) The final patch was shaped like a shield with five white stars around it. This meant that he was a five star commander, the highest rank, and that he commanded a large number of troops in his day.

The man walked, as best he could, into the church. It was a standard church with all the bells and whistles. He knelt on the phew and began to pray.

A man dresses in civilian clothes knelt newt to him and began praying.

After five minutes the men both got up and went into the car. The car drove off and the men began speaking.

The man dressed in civilian clothes spoke first, "So you are the one. The leader of NLA. My name is...ahh...John Witt. I was a soldier in the third division. I am presently working for Flash (The former leader of the Army) and he sent me here to...ahh...talk with you." John seemed very nervous as if he feared the man.

The man with mask looked up at John and said, "There is no need to fear me. I am just a man like you."

"Yes, sir. But I was...ahh...wondering what you wanted me to call you?"

"Just call me the commander. I do not want unveil my identity until I think it is safe. This is a time of muck conflict in Nellis, John. And it will be my time to rule over this land. Now what reports do you have?"

"Well there has been official statement from government, but I believe that are going to try and start a democracy. Also we have the approximately 500,000 trained and ready to go soldiers and they are awaiting your orders, commander. What is your plan?"

"I would have to assume we are at war but the government has nothing to protect itself with. Ha! Well I believe that any war is over once you take the capital itself, so that will be our first target. Also do you know where that twit Mike Nellis is staying? If we capture him it will be much harder for the government to rally support."

"He is staying in his father's Palace in the capital."

"Perfect. Just perfect. Alright alert your boss, that we are going to take the capital. Tell him by any means necessary. Also tell him that I want Mike Nellis alive and brought to me."

"Yes, sir!"

"Driver. Stop the car! Now get out John and get my message across."

John Witt steps out of the car and it drives off. He pulls out a cell phone and calls for a ride.

The Endymion and the other ships (OOC: Including Constitution's escort force) steamed toward Nellisland's major port.

"We are approaching communications range," a lieutenant told Captain Nelson.

"Splendid. Contact the President. Have him come to the bridge. I'd like him to make the contact with Secretary Nellis."

"Aye, sir."

The intercom system rang as Sarzo was putting on his tie.

"I'll be there in a moment," Sarzo said. He finished adjusting the tie and grabbed the speech he prepared on his laptop. He walked from the quarters to the bridge.

"Attention!" Commander Moraine called out.

"Um, how's it go again? Oh, yes! As you were," Sarzo said.

"We are prepared to contact Secretary Nellis if you'd like, Mr. President."

"Go ahead."

The lieutenant opened the channel and motioned for Sarzo to begin speaking.

"This is President Mike Sarzo of the Incorporated States of Sarzonia. We are aboard the ISS Endymion. We and our squadron request permission to dock in your port."

Sarzo awaited Secretary Nellis's response.

President Sarzo listened to the message from Secretary Nellis and said, "We appreciate your graciousness in inviting us to be a part of reestablishing Nellisland as a democracy and we would be honored to invite you for dinner aboard the Endymion.

"We can discuss matters of importance to your country and we would be most honored to be your hosts aboard the Endymion. We will telegram you to make further arrangements. Sarzo out."

Sarzo handed the communications mouthpiece back to the lieutenant and returned to his cabin to send a telegram from his laptop.

To: Defense Secretary Mike Nellis
From: President Mike Sarzo
Subject: Dinner arrangements

We would be most honored to be your hosts for the evening tomorrow night. We would like to know if a 7:30 p.m. dinner works well for you. We would like to give you a tour of the Endymion and discuss plans for helping you to keep the peace in these uncertain times. We can also discuss plans for helping us with our reconstruction efforts in Bausch and the rest of Sarzonia.

Due to the unsettled nature of events throughout the world, we would suggest keeping the official plans top secret.

We look forward to having you and anyone you bring along in your party as our guests and we are enthusiastic about fostering a strong relationship between our people.

Sarzo clicked Send on the screen and the telegram was on its way to Secretary Nellis. He then talked to Commander Moraine.

"Commander, could you see to it that your mess hall staff prepares a kosher meal for Secretary Nellis and his guests?"

"Will do, Mr. President," Moraine said with a broad smile. "My pleasure."

Moraine walked off to give the chef the order. He knew what President Sarzo didn't: The best chef on the Endymion was Jewish. This would be a great meal.

"I'm going. Oh! Hey if something does happen! Remeber the passageway under the Muktarian embassy. It leads straight to Muktar! But I don't think anything will happen."

One hour after the previous post (OOC: just pretend) Connie receives a telegram from some scouts that Mike had sent out South earlier that day:

TO: Mike or Connie Nellis
FROM: Private First Class Bill Twist

While we were patrolling the area south of the capital we came across a large of people from the NLA. There were about 200,000 of them and they were heavily armed. One us sneaked in and discovered that are planning to take the capital and Mike hostage. You need to escape. You have about an hour.

Bill Twist

"Holy S***! I need to call Mike!" She picks up her cell phone and dials a number.

"I'm sorry the number you called is out of area please try again!"

"Darn! I have to do something!" She then calls in all the generals that were in the capital. "Ok. We all know the present situation! Now you tell me what we got!"

A large pale man stood up and said “I don't know what your father was planning when he built this capital but it is just like a fortress. It is completely surrounded by concrete walls and there is only one door in. That is too the north and the army is coming from the South. We may be able to use this."

"Alright tell me how many trained soldier we have?" said Connie

A tiny bald man stood up and said "I guess about 100,000 that are trained and we have enough weapons to equip 500,000 people. We may be able to hold them off!"

"I know what we could do. Do you remember the Alamo? No pun intended. We can place the 100,000 soldiers up on the platforms by the walls. We can give them each 2 machine guns and have them fire them. When the run out of ammo they can take the other gun and continue to fire. Then we can have another man, probably civilian reload that weapon. It just may work."

"Yes!" said the first general "And we can have any available civilians take guns and stand near the entrance, just in case they get there. And we could surprise."

"Great idea!' said Connie. "You guys give the order. Also I want to take all people are not going to fight and bring them to under the Muktarian embassy. There is a passage there that will lead you to right under our embassy in Muktar. Keep them there. "Now go!"

Connie picks up the phone and tries to call her brother again but it is still out of range

The Endymion received the message from Mike Nellis that he was on the way to the ship. Commander Moraine, who was in command of the night watch that night received the word and notified President Sarzo.

"Very good Commander. I trust we're ready to recieve our guests?"

"Yes, Mr. President."

"Good."

The executive suite reserved for foreign dignitaries (which Sarzo turned down in favor of standard officer's quarters) was immaculately prepared and the kosher meal was prepared and waiting for the guests in the private dining area adjacent to the standard mess hall.

Sarzo spent some time reviewing Jewish customs and factbook information about Nellisland while the Sarzonian squadron steamed toward Nellisland. Between sessions where Sarzo was supposed to learn the basics of Jewish tradition (but found that he already knew much of what he was being told) and the information about Nellisland's customs, Sarzo spent a great deal of time with Captain Nelson and Commander Moraine quizzing them about naval strategy.

Despite his position as a completely civilian President, he had a lifelong fascination with the Navy. It showed in the naval procurements that helped the Sarzonian Navy accquit itself well in battles. That training would serve Sarzo well later on.

Sarzo picked up the speech he had written for the occasion and folded it neatly and put it in his breast pocket. He ambled his way toward the helicopter hangar, along with Captain Nelson and Commander Moraine.

"Captain, you may do the honors."

Outside the Nellisland capital the NLA army had began rushing the capital to find that they invaded on the wrong side. The only entrance from the north and they had come from the south. The commander gave the order to walk to the other side when they heard "Fire!" come from the capital!

Suddenly soldiers popped out of the top of the fortified walls with machine guns and began to open fire on the NLA army. Completely surprised by the attack the NLA did not know what to do. They were expecting little or no resistance so they had no protective gear on and each only had one machine gun and one extra clip. (OOC: I will find a good machine gun to place there and edit later!)

The plan that Connie had thought of was working perfectly! The first reports that she received told her that we had "suffered no causalities and that the NLA was retreating!"

However the commander gave the order to rush the North gate and get it open. They had thought that soldiers were only placed on the south wall, but when they rushed the west and east wall Connie gave the order for the soldiers that were hiding there to open fire as well. By the time any soldiers had got to the wall there had been casualties of at least 75,000.

The NLA army continues to the door and tried to bash it in. Unfortunately it was made of solid steel and could only be open by the panel to the right of the door. As long as the door was closed the capital could not be taken.

The commander knew that there had been too much causality already and there was no way they could take the capital right now. He needed international support and he knew where to get it.

The general sent out the following telegram:

TO: The leader of Evil and all bad doing
FROM: The leader of Nellisland Liberation Army

As you may know there is a lot of turmoil in Nellisland right know. I have made an attempt to take the capital but they surprised us. Youhave stated you support for us and we are now asking for your help. If you help us win we will help you later!

Sarzo was on the way to the deck where he was to receive Defense Secretary Mike Nellis when he heard the klaxon's whistle sound. All of a sudden, the lights turned red.

"Red alert!" came the urgent sound of Captain Nelson's voice in intercoms throughout the Endymion. Sarzo quickly stepped out of the way of onrushing sailors who were racing to their battle stations.

"Mr. President, please return to your quarters," Nelson said over the intercom. Sarzo went inside the room where Nellis was boarding the Endymion.

"With all due respect captain, I need to make sure our guests are secure before I worry about me," Sarzo said after punching the button to contact the bridge. Once Secretary Nellis arrived aboard, Sarzo apologized.

"It seems we can't do a ceremonial entrance befitting a head of state at the moment," Sarzo said. "Right this way."

Sarzo led Secretary Nellis and his party to the spacious guest quarters reserved for him. "You'll be safest there for the time being," Sarzo said.

Sarzo knew he'd be safest in his quarters, but he passed the door to his quarters and headed straight for the bridge.

"Sarzo to Captain Nelson," he began. "What's going on? Why the red alert?"

Meanwhile, Commodore Lisa Palmer, just promoted and given the command of the Constitution and the escort squadron, launched a squadron of fighter planes to circle the Sarzonian ships in the port to ensure that an attack would not be forthcoming.

In Nicksia, Benatar, Navy Chief John Newman recieved the reports from Captain Nelson and frowned. He ordered the Soverign and the Ranger, two medium-sized aircraft carriers, to sail to international waters in Nellisland's area. A Bastion-class superbattleship also set sail for the same area to provide additional firepower.

Mike was sitting on the board the Endymion wondering why there was a red alert and where Sarzo had gone. He sat down and begun reviewing his notes that he had written on the trip.

On a crumbled piece of paper he read in his horrible handwriting:

What we need to discuss:

1) How are we going to handle the NLA. They know that we don't have a very stable army and may try something. We need to get international support. Also we should try to get the "Jews for Nellisland" to join us in stopping the NLA.

2) The reconstruction in Sarzonia. Tell Mike that I have twenty of my best engineers ready to go to Sarzonia and help.

3) The democratic process itself. Figure out how we are going to set up a stable democracy in Nellisland. Figure out how we want it.

*elected prime minister
*i would like a Parilment of no more that 51 reps
*maybe split up Nellisland in states or regions
*Make sure to listen to any ideas Sarzo has, write them down.

Captain Nelson and Commander Moraine were getting ready to call all senior officers to the ship's situation room when Sarzo walked onto the bridge.

"Mr. President! What are you doing here?"

"What's going on? Why the red alert?"

"Sir, you'd be safest in your quarters. If something happens to the ship, I don't want you here where anything could happen."

"I might be safer in my quarters, but I highly doubt I'd be totally safe. I'd feel a Hell of a lot better about the situation if you let me know what's going on."

"Very well, Mr. President," Captain Nelson sighed wearily. "Commander, why don't you brief the President and then join me in the situation room."

"Aye, sir," Moraine said.

"Mr. President, there was an attack on the outside of Nellisland's capital. We're still trying to determine exactly who it was who launched the attack, but we have reason to suspect that it was launched internally."

"Any idea who?"

"I believe there's an organized resistance in Nellisland called the Nellisland Liberation Army that wants to overthrow the last vestiges of Nellis's government. There are various other factions. We also can't rule out support from other countries in the region."

"Do you have any leads?" Sarzo asked.

"Not yet. We're discussing intelligence from other countries in the region who might be able to shed some light on the attacks. Meanwhile, your best bet is to go back to your quarters or talk to Secretary Nellis."

"May I ask a personal favor of you?"

"Yes, Mr. President?"

"Please let me know what's going on so that if push comes to shove, I'll at least know what's happening."

Moraine raised his eyebrow. Most national leaders didn't get this involved in the goings on of one warship. But he realized the President was genuinely interested. Besides, for a country as new as Sarzonia, their navy was very successful.

"Will do, Mr. President."

"Thank you, Commander."

Sarzo left the bridge and Moraine walked to the situation room.

Sarzo decided to visit Mike Nellis in the executive suite to apprise him of the situation as he knew it and discuss plans for both countries.

On the boarder between Nellisland and Evil and all bad doing the NLA just returned to report there lose to the leaders of the NLA. The base that had been created used to be a training area for Nellisland's first through third divisions and was the headquarters for the NLA.

The commander walked all the way to the back of the base and walked into a large building. It was about 100 by 50 yards big; there were no windows and a huge steel door. This used to be soldiers quarters but now housed the unknown leaders of the NLA. The commander was still wearing his military suit and mask, but before he entered the door he removed his mask. The face was off Phil Maxell, the former war hero who disappeared after he was discharged from the army for the attempted murder of a superior officer. He was too been tried but he disappeared. He had been in exile in Gynica and had waited for his revenge.

Phil walked into the building which was completely dark. A commanding voice came from a loud speaker, “What are your reports!?"

"Well...ummm...” trembled Phil because he knew he was dead!

"Tell us” commanded another voice over the loud speaker.

"We...we...lost!" he exclaimed. "They knew we were coming! They were prepared. You sent us in to combat unprepared for a real battle and we lost."

"This is not the NLA councils fault! You were commanding the soldiers Maxell." said the third and final unknown leader.

"Yes sir. I am sorry!"

"What were casualties?" the first voice commanded.

"We lost about 75,000 of the 250,000 troops that were sent in and we killed three of their people."

"Hmmm...you will be punished!" said the third voice and two gentlemen appeared behind Phil and handcuffed him.

"You know what too do." said the second voice.

"Yes sir!" said the guards and they walked away.

After everyone had left the three began talking with each other. (OOC: For practical purposes I will label the guys 1-2-3)

"They are smarter than we thought. Do you think someone talked?" said 2.

"It is not out of the question, but maybe they had scouts out there who spotted the army." said 1

"Never the less they are stronger and smarter then we thought. And Nellis will probably get aid from other USN members and Sarzonia had already stated his support." said 3.

"Well we may be able to get aid from Evil and all bad doing. They have pledged there support for us! Yes...let’s do it." said 1.

In the port town of Village Point a gathering has come together outside the naval bases. There was about two to three hundred people in attendance.

A man wearing a stylish black suit and a gold necklace with the Star of David around his neck approached a podium that had been set up. The podium was covered with a large blue flag that had a yellow Star of David in the center.

The crowd was hooting and hollering when the man rose up his arm and said in a very comforting voice, "Hush, hush my brothers and sisters." The crowd fell silent. "This is a time of much turmoil in our sacred land and God had has given me the task of leading his people to greatness. He gave me Rabbi Royers the power to lead all of you into battle and victory!"

The crowd began chanting Rabbi! Rabbi! And once again he raised his hand and began talking again.

"God came too me in dream the day after our former leader, Nellis, died. He told me his will. He told me of an event that I thought not possible. He told me that Nellisland Liberation Army would try to take the capital city of New Nellisland. (OOC: Yeah I thought I should give it a name now) He told me that although the overwhelming odds stacked against them, the citizens would win. And I just received word from my men that the prophecy had come true. He told me that NLA would gain support from a prior Nellisland ally and that the only way that our democracy could prevail is if we gained support as well, and I will follow his will! But I need you too follow it too!"

The crowd roared again. Now there was over four hundred people there and more where coming. They flocked by the dozens to hear the Rabbi talk.

"My friends we will rise up and overcome this task. Just as we have risen up in the past. We survived the Egyptians, we survived the forty years in the desert, and this task will be no different. We will work for a better Nellisland! Speak my words my brothers and sisters. Tell your friends! Your family and any one that you see on the street." Rabbi Royer's smiled and tried to calm down the crowd once more. "Thank you! Now I must get to work!"

Royers waved to the crowd and was escorted into a limo and drove off.

Sarzo knocked on the door to Secretary Nellis's quarters aboard the Endymion. "Enter," came the Secretary's response. Sarzo walked in gingerly.

"What's wrong, Mike?"

"Well, Mike, there was an attack on the outside of the capital. We're still trying to determine exactly who it was who launched the attack, but we have reason to suspect that it was launched internally."

"Was it the NLA?"

"I believe so. It's possible they had some help from some other countries in the region."

Sarzo sat down on the bed and outlined the information he had on the attacks as he knew it. As he finished, his cell phone rang.

"Sarzo."

"This is Navy Chief Newman."

"Yes, John?"

"We've sent the carriers Soverign and Ranger along with their task forces to help your squadron. Also, an additional force of 100,000 troops are on their way in amphibious landing ships."

"Did you get clearance from Secretary Nellis or Nicole?"

"Well, Nicole okayed it."

"What about Parliament?"

"Apparently, they voted their consent to send a support force. They're stipulating that we don't use it for offensive purposes though."

"That should be fine, but we'll have to see what happens."

"Gotcha. Newman out."

Sarzo hung up the phone.

"We've got more help on the way."

Brrring. Brrring. Click! "Hello" said Mike as he answered his cell phone.

From the capital of New Nellisland Connie was on her cell phone, "Mike! You won't believe what happened!"

"Did the NLA attack the capital?"

"ahhh...yes...How did you know?"

"Sarzo got word of it down here. Tell me! How did you win? and what are causlities!"

"Well we used a Allamo plan because the city is built like a fortress. The NLA was under prepared and didn't expect a fight! We lost five people and they lost about 75,000."

"How...ahh...did you know they were coming?"

"Some scouts spotted them and sent me a telegram. I recieved it about an hour before. Also those same scouts are following the remaining NLA and are trying to see if they go to a base or something."

"Make sure they get the Medal of Honor. Although I don't know how much that will mean to them right now."

"Ok. How is the dinner going."

"Well Mike just came into the room and told me about the attack then you called."

"Ummm...Mike...we got lucky today. And I don't think I luck will hold up if we don't get support."

"I know. I know. When I return to the capital I am going to address the nation and tell them out plans. But now Mike and me are going to have dinner and discuss our plans."

"Well, we were able to get two aircraft carrier task forces to come to Nellisland to provide additional support. We also have an additional force of 100,000 troops and artillery and tanks in the event you need some help defending yourselves.

"In the meantime, however, you may be safer aboard the Endymion than you would be in your capital. If you'd like, you can stay here for a couple of nights. However..."

Sarzo's cell phone beeped three times and stopped. Sarzo looked at the number and realized the chef was paging him to let him know the meal was ready.

"It looks like our meal is ready and waiting for us. I'll show you to the room. We can return to somewhat of our agenda there," Sarzo said as he gestured toward the door."

Mrs. Nellis we have followed the NLA into a base near the Evil and All Bad Doing border. Two of us perched outside on a cliff and did surveilance and the other three inflitrated and tryed to gain any additional information. The commander from the battle, who has wearing that mask, took his mask off and it turned to be Phil Maxell! He then went into a large building and in about ten minutes two gaurds took him outside and shoot him in the head.

Our team that went into the base was briefly able to get some info on who might be running the NLA. They heard three guys talking to Maxell about the battle, but we were unable to get most of it. We heard something about getting help from Evil and All Bad Doing, but I am unsure if that is true. We were unable to gain any more information from the conversation.

We estimate that there are about 200,000 troops stationed there right now, but there may be more in other bases. My crew and I request that we stay here and continue to watch the base and that you send a second group to check some of the other old Nellisland bases.

Sarzo sighed heavily. He knew that if Mike Nellis were captured, the process of rebuilding Nellisland would be much harder. He also saw Nellisland as being a quagmire if he couldn't secure the safety of the Secretary.

"Very well. I can't keep you here against your will. However, if the NLA is supported by some foreign power in the region, I have a strong feeling that they wouldn't want to risk a war against us, and even if they did, they'd be in for more trouble than they can handle. I will ascede to your wishes, but know that if you need to find refuge, you're welcome to come aboard the Endymion."

Sarzo and Secretary Nellis walked to the room where the kosher spread was laid out for them. Sarzo raised his eyebrow and grinned.

"We've taken great care to prepare a kosher meal for the Secretary," the chef said, motioning to the seats reserved for Sarzo, Secretary Nellis, and Captain Nelson. Nelson came in wearing his full dress uniform, navy blue with white buttons and three pearl white buttons on the right side of the neck of the uniform denoting his rank as Captain.

"Splendid to finally meet you Secretary Nellis," Nelson said. "I hope you don't mind if my XO joins us?"

"Not at all," Sarzo said. "Commander Moraine is more than welcome to join us.

Nelson pushed the intercom button near the wall.

"Commander Moraine, would you care to join us for dinner."

"Aye sir," Moraine said. The transmission ended.

"Moraine will be by in about 20 minutes. It takes him so damn long to put on a dress uniform."

"I see," Sarzo said, thoughtfully. He shook his head for a moment. He knew that an organized attack such as the one just repelled had to have been supported by an organized military force. Now he had a specific threat.

"Could you send me all the relevant information so I could then fax it to my government back in Woodstock? I think Parliament is going to be interested in all this."

"Will do, Mike," Secretary Nellis said.

Sarzo's cell phone beeped. He picked it up.

"This is Commodore Ryan Rodgers aboard the Soverign. We are now in position with some reinforcements."

"Thank you Commodore. We may be in for a bit more than we previously thought, I'll let you know more later when I've been able to notify Parliament."

"What do you mean, Mr. President?"

"It seems to country of Evil and All Bad Doing is supporting the NLA resistance. However, all we have at the moment are intelligence reports from Nellisland and I'm the only one who has all the details, so we can't do anything more than show the flag at the moment. But this thing could escalate."

"Understood, Mr. President. Do you want me to fly some fighter squads to dissuade Evil and All Bad Doing from trying anything while we're here?"

"Negative. That'd be considered an act of war. If Parliament doesn't know anything about this, the Senate could start impeachment proceedings.[OOC: This is the opposite of the U.S., where the House of Representatives serves the Articles of Impeachment and the Senate votes on conviction (removal from office).] I'd rather Parliament get the blow-by-blow description of what's going on. That way, they could at least know what we're up against. But you could fly squadrons to serve as escorts for the fleet. That might prevent them from launching an attack on us."

"That's standard operating procedure, Mr. President."

"Good, Commodore. Sarzo out."

"Sorry about that, Mike," Sarzo said with a sheepish grin. "Our reinforcements have arrived. Now, let's eat.

Senate President Pro-Tempore Karen Beltran happened to be working late tonight at her office in Parliament Hall. She told her husband to cook dinner for their 12-year-old son after picking him up from soccer practice.

"If I don't get that report done, Nicole's going to kill me!" she mumbled as the cursor blinked at her mockingly. The fax machine in the office whirred to life. She was used to its activities by now and barely paid it any glance.

As she was working on trying to finish the budget projections Senior Vice President Lewis asked for, she caught the word "Urgent" on the fax. She grabbed it from the machine and gasped.

"Holy moley," Beltran said out loud. House Speaker Josh Williams was passing by Beltran's office because he forgot his briefcase and heard Beltran audibly despite being three doors away from her office. He changed course and rapped gently on her door.

"What's wrong, Karen?"

"Josh, have a look at this." She showed Williams the fax from Sarzo. Williams' eyes widened.

"Unflipping believable."

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

"Yeah."

The two leaders of their respective chambers hit buttons on their pagers and then took off in a dead sprint for the House chamber.

Within the hour, the entire chamber was full.

Williams presented the facts from the information forwarded by the Mikes.

"Is there a motion?"

"Mr. Speaker, I move that we immediately declare war on Evil and All Bad Doing."

Williams gulped. "Is there a second?"

For one minute, the room was so silent you could have heard a feather descend to the ground.

"Hearing none," Williams sighed, relief crossing his face like a gentle tide on the beach, "is there another motion."

"It's clear that our mission is changing," Delegate Walter Norton of Syosset said. "I move that we send a larger force to Nellisland and empower the President to use whatever he feels necessary up to declaring war.

"Second," Connie Bergkamp said. She was one of the youngest Senators in Parliament, but often had the best sense of any.

The debate raged for three hours until finally, the motion came to a vote.

Parliament approved the motion by 23 votes.

Williams faxed a message to Sarzo with the vote.

Upon hearing the news that a larger force would be stationed in his nation and the President Sarzo has authorization to use whatever force he feels is necessary Secretary Nellis begins think of a battle plan:

We know that a large force is stationed at the military base near the E.A.A.B.D. border. We should hit that first one first because intelligence is saying that is were the NLA is being run from. But if E.A.A.B.D. is helping the NLA then we may run into some heavy resistance. If we maybe go in with bombing raids first then we can cripple there defenses and then come in with a decent sized army, combined of yours and mine, and take the base. I think that is a good plan but I am open to your suggestions.

"I think that might be a good idea," Sarzo said. "But knowing Navy Chief Newman like I do, he'll likely be sending a larger force than what we already have. We could be in much better position to dictate terms to Evil and All Bad Doing by warning him that we have a large enough force to attack.

"However, I think a combined force of our 125,000 troops and your army would be enough if we launched our bombing raids on their bases."

Just then, Sarzo's cell phone rang.

"Sarzo."

It was Navy Chief John Newman.

"Mr. President, we're sending three more carrier battlegroups, three of the new Bastion-class super battleships, and several ballistic and cruise missile submarines. Fifteen attack subs are already beginning to patrol international waters near your position."

"Quick thinking, John."

"I know how much you like that Mr. President. The carriers include the Vengeance, which should mean that we have almost 500 planes on their way to your position now. Also, a force of 375,000 troops will be included in amphibious landing ships."

"Splendid." Sarzo hung up the phone.

"We will soon have over 500 aircraft, 500,000 troops, and nearly 100 ships in the area. If Evil and All Bad Doing are smart, they'll back down. But in the meantime, I can authorize a strike now if you'd prefer."

Sarzo looked at Secretary Nellis expectantly.

"Sir? Are you sure we're ready?"

"Right now, we'd likely have the element of surprise if we attacked them. I highly doubt they're ready for an attack from a large enough force. You can take whatever precautions you need to until the reinforcements arrive."

"Reinforcements?"

"Chief Newman sent three more aircraft carriers, including the Vengeance. Parliament has approved us to take whatever actions necessary. The NLA has already attacked. Consider this retaliation."

"Very well, sir," Nelson said with a wary tinge to his voice.

"Provide long range support for our fighters and bombers until you arrive in position, Marcus," Sarzo said. "We're launching the attack now. You might get the honor of being the second wave, or at the very least, providing an air escort for this part of the fleet."

"You don't waste much time, do you?"

"Time is of the essence, Marcus."

"Understood, Mr. President." Patinkin knew he could call Sarzo by his first name under normal circumstances, but these weren't normal circumstances. Meanwhile, Patinkin ordered the fleet to speed up to reach combat position more quickly. Cruise missile submarines also neared their positions and set their targets.

The Sarzonian fleet whirred into action and the jets screamed off their carriers into the sky and toward their target.

At the military base right before the attack alarms begin to sound as the Sarzonian planes close in:

A man comes over the loud speaker, "Warning! Warning! This is not a drill! There is a large fleet heading towards the base and will arrive in less than a minute. We do not know if they are friendly so every one get in position! I repeat..."

Thousands of soldiers rushed to there barracks for shelter. The leaders in there building took refugee under ground with some of the higher members of NLA.

The first couple of missiles launched hit some of the barracks! The next set of missiles hit the supply depot which was full of bombs and ammo. Five minutes after the supply depot was hit the fires were raging and made there way to ammo. Upon ignition the whole building blew up and debris flew everywhere.

After the attack was over the leaders of NLA rushed out of there building which was about to collapse from fire and lead into the helicopter. The helicopter took off and headed in the direction of Evil and All Bad Doing.

Soldiers began to file out of there barracks. The commanding officers order the soldiers under there command to get the hoses and fire extinguishers. They managed to control the fires in all of the barracks, but the supply depot was destroyed.

The soldiers estimated that 75,000 were killed. The NLA had been decimated by the Sarzonian attack. There leaders had left them and they had no supplies.

Suddenly about a mile away the Sarzonian/Nellisland forces were closing in on the base. A lookout at the base saw the incoming army and sounded the alarm. The commanding officers decided that it would be best to just surrender. When they gave the order a large white flag was replaced with the Nellisland flag. The doors to the base were opened and the soldiers dropped all there weapons into a large pile in front of it.

General Mark Lansing led the incoming Sarzonian forces, coordinating with Nellis's troops. All of a sudden, word came that the NLA forces were surrendering.

"Damn, we must be pretty good shots," Lansing said with a bemused smirk. He turned to Colonel Taylor Ash, who was next to him with his small peacekeeping force.

"Make sure you take all their weapons away and have them sent back to the fleet. We don't want them launching a surprise attack to get their weapons back."

"Aye, sir."

Ash ordered a group of his men to pick up the weapons to take them back to the Endymion. Also, Lt. Colonel Tucker Beauregard was ordered to take the soldiers prisoner and have them stowed aboard the Soverign. He and his forces, along with Ash's forces, escorted the men and the weapons to go to Sarzonia's fleet.

Major Kendra Barker went around with a damage assessement team to survey the damage.

"It looks like one of their buildings is about to collapse," Barker told Lansing. Also, their supply depot looks completely decimated. Medical teams are trying to estimate the casualties now." She received the casualty estimates and her eyes bulged.

"Sir, it looks like they lost 75,000 of their troops. I don't know how many troops they had, but that's a pretty big number.

"Sir! I tracked a helicopter trying to get away from the base!" A corporal yelled.

"Can you get it on radar?"

"Affirmative, sir, but they've just crossed the border into Evil and All Bad Doing. Should we pursue?"

"Negative. That would be an act of war against Evil and All Bad Doing. For right now, let's just make sure we secure this area and make it our temporary base of operations in the event of another attack."

"Aye, sir."

Lansing made a mental note to reward the fighter pilots for their efforts when they got back to Sarzonia. It was almost too easy. That's why he wanted to be prepared for anything.

"What do you mean it's over?"

"The NLA surrendered."

"What?"

"According to the reports, our strikes hit several barracks and their supply depot, which included weapons. When it exploded, their leaders took off in a helicopter for Evil and All Bad Doing. When our armies got there, they surrendered.

"Let the planning for democracy begin!"

Sarzo placed his next call to Senior Vice President for Internal Affairs Nicole Lewis.

Okay, you can look at my constitution (OOC: I believe it's on page 2 of this thread) as a guideline.

Some questions:

1. Do you want a unicameral Parliament or a bicameral Parliament? How are you going to pick your Parliament? Is it going to be state governments appointing the members or is it going to be elected by the people?

2. Do you need some kind of Supreme Court system to decide if laws are constitutional or not?

I would recommend installing a transition government that will maintain order until the elections take place. If you like, we can observe the elections to ensure fairness and later a transfer of power if there is one. We can also maintain a small peacekeeping force in Nellisland if you would like.

In addition, your people are likely scared of you and the government, particularly after being ruled by your father for so long. You may consider travelling across Nellisland to assure people that you mean business about reforming your government and you have international support to make sure that any enemies won't attack.

We eagerly look forward to building a democracy in Nellisland.

2) I am going to split my nation into 24 states. Each state elects two delegates to be in each house. My capital elects one, making 50. The Prime Minister will choose a leader to make 51 delegates. The leader, who I have not thought of a name yet, oversees the two houses and can veto any resolution he/she thinks is wrong.

3) The Parliament will make over see if laws are consitutional or not.

4) The tranistional government will basically be me and a few other people. I intend to set up the government before next June 23rd

5) I would like it if you would leave a peacekeeping force in my nation but I want to have control over them. They will basically maintain order in my cities.

6) I intend to campaign around Nellisland but I feel that there is more pressing issues to attend too.

7) I am going to send out an offical statement later today to the public concerning the road to democracy.

Lt. Harris Langley was flying a standard sweep of the former NLA base when he noticed a blip on his radar screen.

"We've got bogeys at 9 o'clock!" Langley urgently radioed to Colonel Ash. Ash turned and told General Lansing.

"I knew it was too easy!" Lansing exclaimed. He turned to Lt. Commander Mark Neu, the leader of the aircraft that led the attack against the NLA base.

"Get the rest of your birds up there and intercept those bogeys!"

"I'm on it, sir!" Neu told Lansing.

"Neu got in his ZaS-27M Firebird and signalled the patrolling fighters to plot an intercept course. Also, Neu signalled the fleet and told Admiral Patinkin, "we're going to need more planes. We've got bogeys on approach."

"Looks like we're going to get some excitement after all, folks," Patinkin said. He sounded red alert.

More fighters from the Soverign and the Ranger streaked into the sky to join the pursuit. Langley sighed with relief when he spotted the squadrons flying to join him and joined in the intercept of the Wooley fighters.

"We're in range sir," Langley said. He targeted the internal cannons and the missiles.

"Let the party begin," Neu said.

The Sarzonian jets launched their missiles and fired their guns at the incoming Wooley fighters.

While the fighters zoomed into the distance in hot pursuit of the Wooley fighters, General Lansing ordered his troops to split into three groups. Of the 100,000 troops there, 25,000 took up trench positions surrounding the northern perimeter of the area around the base. Another 25,000 troops took up positions around the flanks of the base, while the remaining 50,000 manned artillery and guns and took positions to lie in wait for Wooley to land troops.

Seventy five tanks also rolled into positions that were as close to stealthy as they could be. Another 100 tanks fanned the area around the makeshift base. If Wooley were going to take the base, Lansing planned to give them some heavy casualties.

The Bastion-class battleships trained their 20 inch guns in the vicinity of where the attack was believed to be headed. [OOC: I don't know how far inland this base is supposed to be. If it's on the coast in a range that's slightly beyond that of an Iowa-class battleship, the Bastion-class ships can get involved.]

Admiral Patinkin paced the bridge of the Soverign nervously. He considered sending the Endymion on a raiding mission toward Wooley, but remembered that Sarzo was aboard the Endymion.

"There goes that plan," Patinkin mumbled to himself. He radioed General Lansing on a coded channel.

"Patinkin to Lansing, come in."

"Lansing here."

"You've got bogey cover tango?"

"Roger that."

"Tiger's waiting to be tamed."

"Curse missed opportunities."

The code from the Coldplay song "Clocks" signified that the artillery units and combat troops were in place. Lansing ordered a small force of 10,000 troops and 10outdated tanks to remain somewhat visible to make it look like that was all the Sarzonians left behind to defend the base. He figured he could get the element of surprise again.

The Constitutionlaunched a small squadron of fighters to patrol the area and make it look like that was all the fighter cover the base had. The Ranger had another two squadrons ready to launch to overwhelm Wooley if any of their forces survived the expected onslaught.
