First page of the demise of the Tollunrai
Shivan Invasion of an unknown species
The armada was ready to fight, to make their last stand. Thousands of ships were in the system. Destroyers, fighters battleships all ready to make their last stand for their people. All they were waiting on was the Shivans. Mines were placed throughout the system, especially around the sun to prevent it being made into a super nova. The system was rife with fear.
The emperor of the Tollunrai was sitting in his command chair; his eighteen kilometre long battle ship was the key to victory for them. Without it the smaller ships would be picked off one by one. Over sixteen billion sentient lives had sought refuge in the now isolated world that the fleet was protecting. The shivans had long blockaded the system. All the outer colonies were assumed to be destroyed as there was no contact, not even their transponder beacons were signalling. The emperor peered into the view screen in deep thought.
So begins the final account of emperor Tullarnis Lord of all Tollunrai
“Ironic is it not? That our empire once spanning an entire sector of the galaxy has now been brought to its knees by those we once deemed inferior. We had learned of subspace travel many years ago, we in our confidence began to use it unaware that it would alert a more Malevolent species than our own of our existence. We were confident that our technological machines could protect us from almost any threat imaginable. We were wrong.
It began almost eighteen years ago when a small research vessel had discovered another layer to subspace previously undiscovered or even thought possible by the greatest scientific minds within the empire. Many thought that it was another dimension that would give us no great rewards, a mirror universe if you will of our own meagre existence, and so work began on a vessel that could open a hole into that unknown realm. Our scientists laboured for over five years on the project but eventually it was complete.
A solid rift was formed and into it we pushed a small research vessel, what they discovered was astounding. A region of space: no that is wrong term to use. The research team discovered a region of matter of unknown size and density. Many new elements were chartered on the first expedition no one in their right minds thought that living sentient beings could exist in this realm, but as with most un based theories they were proved wrong. Our forward research outpost was removed from our contact within week one of the expedition, most assumed it to be a communications problem with our software after all the equipment had never been designed for such a place. But unfortunately they were wrong.
The science vessel did return through the rift however it came in pieces. Only the forward bow was recovered and a severed human hand. Our first reaction was that there must have been a core overload, but that was impossible, the resultant shockwave would have been detected but there was another possibility only the most senile of the scientists and annalists had come up with. They had been attacked. Of course this theory had been thrown out of the window almost instantly until residual unknown ionisation of the recovered bow had been discovered. This could only have been caused by weapons fire.
Our first response was to send in a warship however……
The emperor was about to continue his sentence when a young officer on the bridge interrupted him.
“My lord, the outer sensor beacons have detected the first wave. Over three thousand ships.”
OOC: alot more is coming but i have been awake for 21 hours and i cant stay awake any more. Night all.
