International Leftist Film Festival
The People’s Republic of Anarcho-Yexdom announced that it will be holding an international “Leftist Film Festival” to showcase films from “Socialistic, Communistic, and Utopian nations”. Anarcho-Yexdom’s Prime Minister and Chairman of the Workers’ Party, “Yex”, said that their goal is to “promote peace, unity, and solidarity among left-aligned nations”.

The small nation of Anarcho-Yexdom also wishes to “show to the world the skill of our people… we want the world to know what Anarcho-Yexians are capable of” says Yosef Strantner, a citizen of Anarcho-Yexdom. He will be contributing Anarcho-Yexdom’s "Learning to Change", a film about a tribesman from the Anarcho-Yexdian jungles who is brought to the city by his socialist son, and his unwillingness to change his ways. Strantner wrote, directed, and filmed "Learning to Change".

Anarcho-Yexdom is currently awaiting submissions from other Leftist nations.

Temme
06-06-2004, 03:05
Temme will be contributing the film "Mosquitoes in Winter." It is the story of how the fictional capitalist regime Yakava was brought down by the teenager 1002 (they name their people by number) and replaced by socialism. It is 102 minutes long and stars Alexia Humon as 1002. It is rated G for appropriateness level, and 18-Adult for interest level.
Shonar Bangla
06-06-2004, 03:27
Shonar Bangla's movie industry Shulikath is the second-largest in India after Bollywood and third-largest in the world after Hollywood.
This year, Shulikath made really one movie that made the money, touched hearts at the grassroots and also won applause from the intellectuals.
The film is 170 minutes long, a serious and emotional movie. It is called "Modhyo Bongo Judhho" whose literal translation would be "Inter Bangla Civil War". The film accurately portrays the temporary breakdown of leftist secularism that had held our nation together. It shows the rise of the fascist Hindu and fascist Muslim forces that tore apart the nation for 7 years and caused ultimate suffering on that generation, making communal harmony difficult to re-harvest for maybe decades. At the center of the plot is a family where the man is a Hindu, his wife a Muslim, and they live in a Jihadi-infested area at this time.
It shows the pure terror that enters the land when friends turn into animals. It shows how he flees the Dhaka Concentration Camp through fascist Hindu territory into the nationalist secular leftist Army's base. It is a story of adventure as well.
On the way, he is separated from his family, later, he hears that his sisters had been dishonored by the Jihadis, and that when Dhaka Concentration Camp was taken over by the Hindutvas, his brothers still died fighting for his Jihadi captors because he sensed a change of heart in them, against the Hindutvas.
It shows the family's commitment to secularism even when they are given an either/or choice amongst fascists.
Finally, it shows the triumphant entry of the newly renamed Secular Nationalist Army into the nation of Shonar Bangla, and the revenge killings carried out on the fascists.

Although this film shows nationalism, and not the usual socialist ideal of internationalism, it features famous scenes where our hero stabs his arm, and screams at his captors: "Isn't this what you have too? We are all the same. Fuck this fighting!! Don't you have a sister too? Don't you have a family? Don't you care for the nation?", it is still leftist as it features ideals like global equality and utopianism, and the trouble with religious extremism.
Yevon of Spira

Yevon of Spira will contribute "The Night of the Golden Chocobo" a story about how a small group of Yevon's knights died gloriously holding off an invasion of troops from The Notoriously Inbred People of Something with Wings. These two nations share a peaceful alliance currently, but the film is still a clasic in our nation. The film has some intense action scenes and violence. Hope you all enjoy it.

Galdania

Galdania will contribute "Teklítz'tavu Myíröbium Ülischtz Gróyënzdt", hit 1983 film about the Galdanian Revolution of 1933. Contains violence, course language, adult situations, and partial nudity.

The movie is to be played in it's original Galdanian, with subtitles of the appropriate language. Notable for a scene in which Director Vyroni Katashkitlimürí used actual dead bodies for the corpses during the filming of 'Ruby Tuesday', in which the Czar sad he would give his ruby ring to the soldier who killed Labour Leader Taíkovich Noldz. Nearly 1000 people, including Noldz, died that day, along with 700 more in the next twelve days that the 1933 Revolution took place in.

Also contributed is the documentary of the First and Second
Grunge-France invasions of Galdania. Over 150,000 people died in the first war, mostly Galdanian civilians, with another 50,000 the second time, mostly military personelle. It shows actual footage of Grunge-French civilians being choked to death on X1 gas dropped from Galdanian planes, artilley shells being fired at landing Grunge-French vessels, street-clashes between Galdanian volunteers and Grunge-French regulars, and a Galdanian school being bombed.

The Serene Republic of Aldonai is priviliged to announce its entry into the festval (and onto the world stage) with "What I Did Under the Harvest Moon", a rural absurdist sex farce starring the fetching young Greta Mann as "Simone", the young peasant lass who manages to serially seduce her way out of an fascist army's P.O.W. camp. Rejoice with Magda as she celebrates her return to the village with cider, hashish, and the attentions of the lads and lasses of her community!

While we are enligtened enough in our society to have no need for "ratings", less socially progressive types may wish to keep children from this material.

Altough Suna Kaya is certainly not communist, socialist, or utopian--it is quite liberal, but none of the above--it would like to submit a film to this esteemed festival. The title of the nationally award-winning film is "Immodest Proposal"; it mocks a right wing, conservative "paradise" in Suna Kaya in which non-Christians are publicly persecuted, gun use is taught in grammar school, and multinational corporations regularly abuse their impoverished workers. "Immodest Proposal" stars Takata Arisa as Akayama Mai, a poor factory worker who finds solace and strength in an "illegal" workers' union. The film is not recommended for young viewers due to violence.

Kilean
08-06-2004, 08:48
Kilean Associated Filmakers will bring Stand at Stahlsburg! to the table. It's actually one of the least-leftist movies EVER, but a lot of marxists watch it beacuse it's simply descended to such insane levels of anticommunist paranoia that it's practically self-parody. Leftist sociologists have called this the most latently homosexual film ever pointing to the night-pornographic use of violence in the film.

The most horrific/comic scene ever is when the main character, one Feldwebel Johan Stein, kills no less than 213 Dibujantean communist troops onscreen in a 10-minute period, camera zooming in on close-ups of desentigrating commie heads and limbs. The true absurdity of the scene is only brought to light when you realize that it's all done to the strains of the Kilean national anthem.

Actually, JiangGuo, "Immodest Proposal" is based on "A Modest Proposal", "The Jungle", and mockery of an email I recently received that mocked a "liberal paradise" in America. I do enjoy Michael Moore's books and films, but I did not base the film on his work.

Interview with Rodrigo Sanchez-Guillermo, director of "What I Did Under the Harvest Moon", as printed in "The Aldonian Entertainment Expose"

EE: So, "Under the Harvest Moon" has been selected as our country's entry into the Anarcho-Yexom Leftist Film Festival. Any reaction?

RSG: Well, it's certainly an honor, of course. I've never been there myself, but they seem like a cultured bunch. Looking forward to my visit. I'm not sure what they'll think of my film, though. Most of the other entries seem pretty serious.

EE: Anything you're especially interested in seeing?

RSG: Oh, "Stand at Stahlsburg", definitely. Back in the college days, me and my friends would sit around, get high, and play that thing over and over. I don't know what the drug laws are like in Anarcho-Yexom. The "Anarcho" part makes me think that it's okay, but I'll double-check before I take off.

EE: And Greta Mann will be accompanying you. Does this mean that the rumors of the two of you....

RSG: (shakes head) No. She's currently looking for a co-husband, but I'm not ready for a group marriage just yet. We still sleep together now and again, but that's it. I'll also be travelling with Jimmy Nakamura, who did such a great job as Fascist Guard #1. He's getting quite a following among young women worldwide.

EE: On to a more sensitive topic: Your film has been the subject of great controversy around the world. In certan countries, there have been mass burnings...

RSG: Well, if I've managed to simultaneously annoy the moralizers and the fascists simultaneously, then I'm doing something right (laughs). No, seriously, it's a shame. This film is my message. Oh, sure, people can concentrate on the fact that Greta--Simone--is sleeping wih a person or two, or three, in every scene. They can object to the bixexual orgy at the end. But they're missing the point. Hell, even some leftists have criticized it for "exploiting" women.

Okay, first off, Greta volunteered for this project. She read the script. I know that things are different elsewhere in the world, but around here, women aren't judged for choosing to use their sexuality. If you look at the subtext, Simone is actually using her body to exploit the guards. They eventually give her exactly what she wants, and she has fun in the process.Hell, that's why the platoon that catches up with her refuses to fire...each one of them had spent a night with her, and couldn't bring themselves kill the source of so much pleasure.

When Simone goes home, contrast my use of light for the village and the camp. It's a happy and joyful place. The traditional Aldonian welcoming celebration involves a certain amount of carnal pleasure. It's part of our culture. Every writhing form is a testament to our values. By comparison, check out the camp. It's a dark place. Slanted light in some areas serving to make the dimmer places more forbidding. All I'm showing is the value of freedom over tyranny.

No, I don't see how any reasonable person could have an issue with this film.

EE: So the message is?

RSG: It's all about family values. Home. Community. Love.

EE: And what are you planning to do in Anarcho-Yexom, besides the film festival?

RSG: Well, check out the food, definitely. Supposedly they're using the surplus from their harvest, so it should be a decent vegetarian selection. Don't know about the meat one way or the other. Other than that? Haven't decided; not familiar enough with the territory.

The People's Republic of Callate is proud to introduce its entry "Generalissimo: The Laughter and The Tears" into the Anarcho-Yexom film festival. Unlike some of the other decadent entries, "Generalissimo" is shot in the proper Scoialist Realism style, and details the life of our Glorious Leader The Generalissimo from his poverty stricken childhood to his rightful place as the voice of the proletariat of Callate.

Ianna
10-06-2004, 07:45
Well! The Film Department certainly did spring at the idea, and are quite proud of their achievement. Determined to show off Ianna's unique culture and history, they have produced 'Dierdre,' based on the true story of a young spy who played an instrumental role in bringing about the country's current government. An interesting spin has been put on the action scenes - the real-life Deirdre was a pacifist who despised firearms, and the movie's choreographers have made some wonderfully tense moments as she talks her way out of conflicts with the soldiers of the old regime.

The cast and crew have already boarded the train, and are quite looking forward to both the festival and Anarcho-Yexdom's hospitality. They have also expressed their interest in lending a hand with the festival itself, should the need arise.

Rodrigo sat in the reasonably comfortable train compartment watching Greta and Jimmy play a complicated card game called "Trashcan". As far as he could tell, it had something to do with taking a drink every time you got enough of a certain suit. Additionally, since the game seemed to be set up to make it rather easy to get these combinations, Greta and Jimmy seemed to be having a difficult time focusing on the cards.

"Wait...your turn or mine?" Greta said, forcing herself to speak distinctly. Jimmy answered with a shrug and took another drink. Greta flipped her long blonde hair over her shoulders and glared at him. While taking drinks outside of the game was frowned on, it wasn't technically against the rules.

"Hey, what are the women like there?" Jimmy mused. Greta grinned back at him with the expression that was landing her on the covers of film magazines worldwide.

"Well, we can find out together" she said seductively, putting her hand on Jimmy's knee.

Rodrigo sighed silently and looked out the window as they crossed the border into Anarcho-Yexom. It wouldn't be long before they arrived at the station. The Culture Minister said that he had called ahead to ensure that lodging would be available. Hopefully they didn't consider soft mattresses bourgeois.....

Proletariat Comrades
11-06-2004, 00:10
The People's Republic of Proletariat Comrades would like to contribute actual footage of our revolution, in the form of a movie known as "Ere the Dawn Came" when translated. Our leader Alaru Srundo, knwing the momentous quality of his undertakings, commanded that films be shot of his famous battles as they were taking place, and of the aftermath and repair by him and the Party. He also had films shot of those oppressed by the crual capitalist regime his revolution replaced. The Revolution took place thirteen years ago, when Srundo was only 24. When watching this movie, one is awed by the tactical capability he displays, and his camraderie wit his troops.
